Overall, it's a good family place to eat. Indoors, they have TVs, arcade machines that border half the restaurant (in the bar area), so there's the sports bar feel. There are also long tables -- where I can imagine sports teams can go for pizza after a game. My family enjoys the food. It's good pizza, pasta, and a good burger apparently (so says my 11-yr-old, who tries burgers everywhere and is actually particular about them). We find that the small pizza is actually a big pizza. Outdoors, it's a pleasant patio area, and we were able to have our medium-size dog with us. The service is friendly. No complaints. read more

We stopped by, expecting to have dinner at the Maple Tree Café. Consider my amusement when I realized the "Maple Tree" comprised the bar area, while the menu was from the adjacent Winged Bear. My wife's Onion Soup was the classic French soup, with a tasty oniony broth, covered with melted cheese. My New England Clam Chowder was anything but classic...with so many potatoes and clams, there was barely any room left for the ocean-scented broth! Wifey had a custom pizza, which came out with a bubbled crust, and a nice blend of ricotta, eggplant, and caramel used onions. I opted for their Bolognese with Orecchiette pasta, which was very satisfying. The meaty sauce had a tinge of smokiness to add the the experience. Honestly wasn't what I expected. For a Vino bar I was hoping for more of a selection of wine. This is more of a fast casual restaurant than a wine bar. Their online menu is also NOT the same as the one you get when you sit down! So don't bother looking at that before you go! Other than the atmosphere and the slow service the food was really good! It's the third name change in four years, but if you were here before the name recently changed from Attilio's to The Winged Bear, you won't notice much of a difference in the interior space. Its exactly the same as of now. So is the menu -lots of pizzas, appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, grinders, Italian entrees, and salads. Our take-out order included a very nice Baby Spinach Salad for $10.95 (Baby Spinach with Grilled asparagus, red onion, bacon, toasted pine nuts, egg, raspberry vinaigrette). It was a big portion that tasted great and easily fed both of us. We went with a large pizza ($16.95) base and added on meatballs and green peppers for $2 a pop. We have so many great pizza shops in the area (E&D, Little City, Da Capo, First and Last) and the Winged Bear's pizza was certainly competitive with the heavyweight champs I mentioned. The pizza was gigantic with 8 very large slices. Plenty of sauce, plenty of cheese, plenty of toppings (the meatballs were very good). I live nearby and often order pizza and wings from them. Have always enjoyed both.

We tried the Big Mac, pepperoni, and ricotta bolognese pizzas from here for takeout and it was ok. They forgot the special sauce and lettuce on one of our pies and not too much pepperoni, but it's generally less expensive than other pizza joints in the area. Tenders were tasty but not very crispy to go too. Next time I think we'll try the grinders Or sandwiches instead. read more

Welp, now I understand the sub par reviews. I show up to grab my takeout order and the girl behind the cash register asks me to give her a second while she finishes up what she's doing. Sure, no problem- I can wait for a short minute. But then she goes back to what she's doing while time goes on completely disregarding me. Meanwhile there's two other people walking around the office that are perfectly capable of quickly assisting me yet I'm just standing there with no interaction from these people. The woman leaves the register and goes about her business completely not caring that I'm there. I stand there for like 5 more minutes while the others in the office ARE CLEARLY SEEING ME AND IGNORING ME. One of the guys finally says with some half hearted energy "have you been helped?" Uh no? Would I be standing here right at the register if I had been? Annoyed- I finally get my takeout and drive home. Food results: the fries were really good. The French onion soup was also quite good. That's why they got the two stars. The tuna sub, however, was abysmal. The driest and chunkiest tuna I've ever eaten. I only ate one half and I had to take most of the tuna out and just end up eating a lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and mayo grinder. Never again. Crap customer service and crap grinders. We decided to try some pizza here this evening after getting Chinese next door over the course of the last few months. The menu had a lot of interesting choices and finally decided on a mushroom specialty pizza and a plain cheese pizza. Both pizzas were cooked perfectly and didn't disappoint. The combination of ingredients on the mushroom pizza really worked well and had a unique taste. The cheese pizza was done really well also and tasted really good for a plain cheese pizza. All in all , the pizza was spot on , the staff and service really nice and we will definitely be regular visitors. UPDATE : After leaving the area for a bit , when I came back , I instantly went to Attilio's for a meal. I don't know what occurred during my absence, as this is not the same. The food was bad, really bad. Whom ever is cooking there now , cannot even cook a cheese pizza correctly. We have given them a few more attempts , but it just keeps getting worse. The offer to replace the food was given , but was quickly turned down. I just don't know what has happened. The pizza here was the finest in the area , they even stole us as customers from Little City , as the food was that good and unique. What once was a strong 5 star rating , has now gone to a soft 1. My family had a Groupon so we thought we would try this place out. It was definitely a good choice. We ordered the meatball pizza and the cheese was so yummy and gooey. It tasted very fresh and the meatballs were scrumptious. We also had the Caesar salad and they were really nice big pieces of Parmesan grated on top of it and it was a portion that I fed myself my husband and my daughter. The waitress was very nice and she was attentive and we received our food promptly. We're definitely going to start using this place in town as one of our pizza rotation nights. read more

This is basically an overpriced Denny's. Boneless wings completely drenched and bathed with bbq sauce that you can get from Sams club. Burger was perfect medium each time and the fries and onion rings were packed in serepate container and crispy too! Also the greens and tomatoes, etc. Were well layed out in the container and FRESH, crisp lettuce and tomatoes were present without any slime/wilting you find in lots of other establishments. Literally my favorite pizza I've had since I moved here to Connecticut. The crust is a nice soft dough instead of the hard crunchy crust I've had at other places. We ordered delivery via Yelp. It was taking a while so I called to check on status. The girl who answered said we didn't have an order. I want this place to be better than it is. We've tried to give this place a time or two, or in their case four tries before I've reviewed them. We've been meet each time with service that's national chain worthy at best. In my opinion service can be overlooked when the food is great. Sadly the food has been a hit and miss and when they've missed, they've missed bad. The real reason for the 2 star comes from when our order for a pizza was done wrong twice. When it happened the 2nd time we just gave up on trying to get it fixed. The manager blamed it on the waiter and the waiter blamed it on the back of the house staff. This business doesn't just have amazing food, they will make things right even when it was the customer that screwed up. We ordered delivery and they delivered under the time and texted. My phone never notified me so our delicious lunch sat outside for an hour.. When I called to ask where my food was the customer service was professional and friendly and replaced the item that was ruined by the hot sun. When I later discovered the fault was on my end I promptly called and apologized profusely. I appreciated that even though I must have sounded crazy, they were kind and understanding.
