Extremely upset with this company and the nonsense they sell you. I booked an A/C tuneup at Home Depot that was running a special. I did this as a matter of convenience and brand name. I trust Home Depot and Andy's Statewide installed the original heating and cooling system in this home 15 years ago when it was being constructed. It was determined that the unit was down 3 pounds of R22. The Tech told me that R22 is $147 per pound, he then proceeded to tell me that R22 has sky rocketed in in price and their cost is $1400 per 30 pound canister. I had no choice but go along with it...I was already into it for $70 for the service call. I later called around and most other reputable companies charge $80 per pound plus a service call ($70-100). I also looked online as to what their costs might be, that was around $20-$25 per pound. I understand profit margins, however 600-700% markup on a product is nothing more than obscene. "Word of mouth" advertising can be a real asset to reputable companies....Not so much in you case. read more

Sally was very professional and knowledgeable about the products she represented, carefully going over the best system for my household and at a very competitive price. By 9:00AM the next day, Greg and Mark showed up and went to work on the installation of a new furnace and central air unit. Again, Greg and Mark were both very professional and knowledgeable and a pleasure to chat with. After the total installation and clean up was completed in 6 hrs.(very efficient) they went over everything about the units with me about upkeep and operation of the units. I had them install a new furnace/air conditioning unit. Neither of them worked properly, and both had to be serviced. The first person they sent out to fix the AC wasn't authorized to work in an attic (even though they were the ones who installed it in the attic. Appointment for between 10-2, office gal called after 2 to tell me he was on his way. Called for our furnace continuously blowing but no warm air. Technician came and spoke with my husband about how our furnace had several cracks, how he could pull it apart but had none of the parts and not sure if he even could get the parts anymore... gave us a quote for a new furnace, and also if we wanted to do a new air conditioner... paid 80$ for him to give us a quote that he would take off the cost of the furnace install. Otherwise 80$ for him to tell us our furnace needed to be replaced!?! Shopped around and have three other companies coming this week, free of charge... probably will go with one of those companies purely off of the fact that Andy's charged us for doing nothing besides have his technician walk up my basement white carpet in his work boots and leave some weird pink paint stains after. Also told my husband that they don't sell the gas/pilot piece separately and they have to buy a whole bigger part... found the part online for 7$? My husband use to build houses with his father so he's not oblivious to how furnaces work and get installed. Not impressed. Technician told us our model was not a good unit, but then wanted to sell us a lesser version of what we have right now. Visit didn't sit well after reflection. read more

In all fairness, the sales representative Tom Kiddy did an exceptional sales presentation for Andy's Heating and Cooling. However, my installers Monte and Joss were less than I expected. They insisted that having to return later was "common practice "on a furnace installation. I don't know about anyone else, but if I'm spending $3300 I wanted everything done that day! My neighbors car would have prevented my chimney liner installation. Tried to resolve with a Manager by the name of Dean (didn't catch the last name) Dean over-talked me the entire conversation. My husband moved the neighbor's car and I got my chimney liner. That said ,the experience was not good, the service was over-priced, and I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

i purchased a genrac whole house generator last october that came with a 24 hour service guarantee. when i called for service 7 months later i was told it would be at least a week before they could come out. my service guarantee states that if your comfort system fails for any reason within the first year of the date of the original invoice,we promise to restore your comfort for free within 24 hours of your call. if we fail to do so ,not only will we fix it for free , but we will also write you a check for $555.00 dollars when i asked the service department about this i was told no the only guarantee was they would respond within 24 hours.. bull s... i would never use them again! read more

Ok, called Home Depot to have estimate on installation for a boiler. I was given a scheduled appointment by a Home Depot representative for this right. Now Andy's Heating and Cooling calls me back and states, "We do not do Boiler installations". Now, I know Home Depot would not contract out companies that is limited with services. So, I look up the people who called my phone and went to their website. Well look here, yes they do boilers. Its what their website states and I see reviews with boiler work experiences. Was looking to purchase a new furnace and air conditioner. Decided to go through Home Depot and their services are contracted to Andy's Statewide. I called for a quote. The gentleman showed up, he quoted me on a 2 stage variable speed furnace and air conditioner for a small condo, he said pipes would need to be moved from where the current air conditioner is outside to the east side of the building and a new addition to my electrical box was needed, all this for a cost of over $8200. Taking the advice of others i had a second quote by another heating and cooling company who said the pipes didn't need to be moved, no addition to my electrical box was needed, he said a 2 stage variable speed furnace was for a bigger house and would be overkill. His quote was $5500. Every few days i would get a call from Andy's Statewide, dropping their quote down $1000 from over $8200 to $6100 from the last call. If they can keep dropping the quote that low than why not offer me that price from the beginning? A third quote was done and just like the 2nd company i was told that what Andy's was offering is overkill. Buyer Beware! read more

I calle Andy's to have them come and check our AC unit that kept popping a breaker. I was told that they would be out on Saturday between noon and 5pm (big time window). We needed the unit fixed since it was 90+ degrees F outside, so I accepted the long wait. Well, Saturday came and I waited and waited and waited....no service person and no call. I called at 3pm...maybe the tech is busy??? Andy's stated, "you have been assigned a Tech...you are next on the list. They will call you shortly". So I waited 2 more hours. 5pm, no call and no Tech. I called them back and was told, " you are next". 7pm...No Tech, no call. I called again. They said, "your appointment is still good, someone will be right there". 11pm --- NO CALL, NO TECH!!!! Now, I understand that demand is high for AC repair when temps are hot, but this company shouldn't LIE to a customer and not even give a courtesy call. I would have accepted if they would have been up front with me and just said that they needed to push my appointment to Sunday...but they never called me....I CALLED THEM EACH TIME TO CHECK ON MY APPOINTMENT. This is very bad customer service and I am very disappointed in Andy's. I probably won't be calling them for service again. BTW, it's 9:15am Sunday and nobody called to appologize for missing my appointment or to reschedule. What really burns me is that they were told that my daughter is seizure prone and hot temps bring on her seizures. Our house was 87 degrees F and we had to spend all of our time in the basement so she wouldn't get overheated. When I made the appointment, the lady on the phone said she understood the medical urgency and would make sure someone came to the house as soon as they could. They know how to make an appointment - they just don't know how to keep the appointment. Very unacceptable customer service. read more

I bought a furnace from Andy's, their original quote was very high, but when they called me back with a MUCH lower price, and practically begged for my business, I had them install a unit. They did a great job with the install, and I've had zero problems with it, but the ENDLESS calls I get from them trying to sell me service calls is unbearable! They call DAILY, even though I ask them not to call again, they ALWAYS do. I believe the calls are from some foreign call center, since I always seem to get a different person, usually difficult to understand. I called in stating that my furnace (one that they sold and installed for me 3 years ago) was not working. The one they replaced was over 20 years old and I never had a problem with it, until the end. They asked if I wanted a technician between 10:00 - 2:00 or 2:00 - 5:00. I chose 10:00 - 2:00 because I needed to pick up my wife at the airport. They called back saying they were sooo booked they couldn't make in that time and that even if I chose 2:00 - 5:00, it would be closer to 5:00. Really, they didn't know they were that booked when I first chose my time? I said fine. I went to go pick up my wife, and the technician called at 3:27 asking where I was . I said was in Novi, and that I'd be about 20 minutes. I asked if he could wait, and he said yes. I pulled into my driveway at 3:57, granted, I was ten minutes later than what I said, but he was already gone. My guess is that he didn't even wait the 20 minutes, but either way, the technician wouldn't answer his phone when I gave him call. Horrible professionalism. read more

This is mainly a review of American Home Shield, but as they use Andy's Statewide to help refuse service it could be helpful to you. I purchased a new (used) home in June 2014 and at the advice of my realtor I purchased an American Home shield (AHS) policy in case anything broke in the first year of owning the home. After being in the home for a month we discovered that the A/C wasn't providing adequate airflow to keep the house cool. For example, on an 80 degree day the house would start at 70 degrees in the morning and by the evening it would be up to 74, with the A/C unit running the entire day. So I scheduled a service call through AHS, which was contracted out to Andy's Statewide in Michigan. Ken Williams from Andy's Statewide arrived at our house, and after inspecting both the A/C Unit and the furnace determined that the evaporative coil for the A/C unit was broken (only half of it worked), and that it would need to be replaced. For this he quoted me a price of $950. Further, the inspection had shown that the furnace had cracks in the heat exchanger, and he determined that to fix this unit would run another $1,275. However, due to the age of the units in question and that the A/C unit was low on Freon, he recommended that I should replace the furnace and A/C Unit. Therefore, we discussed options for replacements. This was concluded by him telling me that he would submit this information to AHS so that they could make a determination on what was covered and that they should be contacting me. After waiting for a couple days for a phone call from AHS, I decided to initiate contact to find out how much the company would cover for a replacement of the furnace and A/C. I was then told that they had not received a diagnosis and that they would be in contact with me in a few days to discuss my options. A week went by with no contact, so I again called them back. Again the customer service rep told me that they had not received the diagnosis and would call back. A few days later, I again contacted them as I hadn't heard anything, and they again said I would receive a call back. After this third phone call, they did finally call me back in the evening with my options. AHS said that the tech reported that the evaporative coil needed to be cleaned with a chemical bath. AHS reported that they would not pay for this as it is a maintenance item and therefore not covered under the warranty. Yet their warranty states that it covers " - Insufficiently Maintained Equipment", which since this was a recent home purchase would obviously be the case, if indeed the coil can be salvaged through a chemical bath. Further, AHS claims that the heat exchanger is covered under warranty for the unit, even though I am not the original owner of the furnace and the warranties don't transfer. Due to this fact (the warranty coverage) they will not cover any cost for repair of the furnace. So I asked the company point blank what they were willing to give me to help cover the cost of this repair that should be covered under warranty and the customer service rep tells me that the company is not willing to cover anything at this time due to the diagnosis from Andy's Statewide. So, I had them setup a second opinion diagnosis from an alternative company (which I apparently will need to pay for), and they are supposed to be calling me to setup an appointment. Overall, as it sits right now. AHS is refusing to honor their commitment to fix the equipment in the home that was supposedly insured against just this thing, and they are justifying this through by using a contractor that is reporting different things to the customer than what they formally file with the company. From my viewpoint this is the worst sort of customer service, and failure to fulfill the commitments purchased from the company. Therefore, I would recommend that anyone considering purchasing this companies coverage should find an alternative, honest company, to spend their money with. Additionally, if you live in Michigan, I would highly warn against Andy's Statewide as they appear to be just as crooked as AHS. I hope this review helps anyone who is considering purchasing AHS service to steer clear of the company. read more

I was contacted by a customer service rep regarding my review but unfortunately very little was resolved. Though the c.s. rep was courteous, she was only apologetic for the "high ball" bargaining tactics used by their HVAC salesman and said that tactic was not a method that Andy's Statewide should employ. The high priced repair for the furnace at my rental property, well that ordeal was something that she stood by. She told me that my ability to get the same part for $50.00 compared to the $500.00 they were trying to charge me was comparing apples to oranges because they have to warranty the part and their work, pay the technician, yada yada. So in fairness I'll compare apples to apples. I had an appointment with Andys, which I cancelled because of the aforementioned $500.00 estimate to replace a $50.00 part, to repair a boiler at another rental property and instead called the HVAC company that installed the furnace at my primary residence. I won't mention their name as to eliminate any suspicion that I have any personal affiliation with them. anyway, the previous tenant must have had someone come in and "fix" the boiler because it was completely unwired (automatic water feed, ignitor, damper control, etc.). It took the technician about 30 minutes to wire it together properly and he also discovered that the thermostat was no good. To put the wiring together again it was $250.00, to install a new thermostat, (that they would provide) would have been another $150.00 (since it was just a 2 wire hook up I passed on this and decided to do it myself). So apples to apples, Andys Statewide $500.00 to connect 4 or 5 wires to a $50.00 board, the other guys $400.00 to rewire a boiler and install a new thermostat. A lot more work by the other guys for $100.00 less. I'm going to stick with my original assessment that Andys overcharges for their work. read more

Andy's came to diagnose an issue with my AC. After about 2 minutes of minimal troubleshooting the tech decided the condenser motor was dead and it would be about $650 to repair. He also told me that it might be the control board too but wouldn't know for sure until they replaced the $650 motor. That was a tough pill to swallow so I spent the evening on YouTube trying to figure out how to replace the motor on my own. During my research I stumbled up on video showing how to diagnose an issue with the condenser motor. So I went outside with a multimeter and quickly determined it was in fact the much cheaper control board and not the motor. The motor worked just fine when I bypassed the board. Needless to say I called Andy's to express my concern about their diagnosis and they were nice enough to schedule a senior tech to come out the next day at no charge. Unfortunately the next morning we received a call from Andy's saying that they don't trust anyone's opinion but their own and they would only come out to replace the motor and if that didn't work they would then try the board. Once again reiterating their stance that you can't diagnose a faulty board without first replacing a very expensive motor. I'm no HVAC expert but according to my research it's entirely possible to test a control board. I did it with no experience so I can't help but feel Andy's was trying to take advantage of me. Avoid this company and look for someone who isn't too lazy to properly diagnose an issue. Trial and error seems less than professional to me. read more

I would give a negative number if available. They came on a weekend because my heat was out. Charged me $89. Left without fixing anything. They Told me that I needed a part. It would take 3-4 days to get part. I had no heat. They would check to see if I had a warranty and get back to me. They called back to tell me that they checked with the manufacturer and I didn't have a warranty. They would fix my issue for $700. I called my original company on Monday they came out. I was covered 100%, zero out of pocket. In fact they told me that my issue was a known issue and the manufacturer was replacing all parts for units regardless of warranty period. It took them 24 hours to get the part. But the real kicker is that the technician pushed 2 buttons and he got my heat working temporarily. The Andy's technician left my house with $89 and NO HEAT. I will never call them again!!!! read more

My home warranty company sent Andy's Statewide to my home to fix my furnace problems. I was told there were major problems (which I knew--it was an old unit) that would cost $1,300 and there were additional code violations/upgrades that I would have to pay for ($300). My warranty company informed me the code violations were not covered and I would have to pay for them myself. I asked Andy's Statewide what specific violations they were referring to. They could not specify. I asked my warranty company if I could get a second opinion and they let me call my local heating and cooling guy. He confirmed there was a major problem, but no code violations. He fixed the problem for $1,100 (saving my warranty company $200) and saving me $300 for (bogus) code violation. These guys from Andy's Statewide are either incompetent or crooks; I suspect the latter. read more

Called them to clean the filter in the furnace and that's all. Person came and focused on another part. Replace it and didn't leave the "broken" part and charged us over $800. When asked to clean the filter, he said we need to call the company since he wasn't asked to do that. CROOKS!!! Looked on Youtube and figured out how to do it myself. It is so easy. I had a furnace malfunction recently and this company was great! They had someone out within the next few hours to inspect and fix the unit. Nathon was the name of the person who came out, and he was very good at answering my questions and explaining what he thought was wrong. He also wore shoe covers-which may be and industry standard nowadays, but I see as a big plus, as I have white carpet! The best part was, he was honest about what was wrong, and, though it was probably obvious that I know little about heating/cooling, he didn't give me the hard sell on anything, just the facts, and didn't charge me extra for every little thing (cleaning "x", or checking "y"). Fast, curteous and reasonably priced. Highly recommended! read more

We had a small backup of a pipe. They came out, and said "this drain is part of the sump system, it is normal with the amount of rain". When it backed up again, another company came out, found it wasn't part of the sump system, and it wasn't normal. I would never use this company again. read more

Andy's Statewide does not even deserve 1 star. I called them because my furnace would not come on which happens every year since I purchased it from them 3 years ago. After taking care of the problem the service man told me my humidifier on the furnace had 2 leaks. I had never seen any water on the floor or around the furnace. He went on to tell me I needed a new humidifier and the cost would be $510.00 but if I called the office, since I was a good customer, and it was a slow time of year they would give me a discount. I called and they quoted me $485.00, a $25.00 discount for a "good customer". I then called several other companies to see what they charge for a new humidifier and all their prices were $485.00. At that point since I had no problems with my humidifier prior Andy's Statewides' visit I decided to have my handyman take a look at it and he said it probably just needed a new filter, which the serviceman never tried. I ordered a new filter for $30.00 and now my humidifier works perfect. I called the company and spoke to the customer service representative, she sent me out a 1 year Home Service Plan at no charge, only problem.... every time I made an appointment it was canceled . This company is not to be trusted. I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

Andy's came to service my a/c unit and determined it was the condenser. They wanted to charge a $275.00 disposal fee for the condenser and $250.00 to replace the pvc drain(total parts for pvc tubing about$10.) I work with metals like condensers and people buy them from me because they bring a high dollar in scrap value. When I called the office and told them they said well we wont charge you that then. What a joke... I had a REAL legitimate company come and do the job for a lot less than they told me and when I showed them the additional charges they laughed and said "we here that a ton about Andy's).Everyone beware the owners should be in prison, not in business still. read more

Stay away from this company. Their techs are nothing more than salesman. Air was out. The tech came out and spent about 20 minutes looking at the unit outside and the condenser inside. His diagnoses was that we had a large leak in the coil and that we need an entire new system. He spent another 15 minutes in his truck writing up a quote for a new system. He NEVER put gauges no the valves. He NEVER pressure tested the system. He NEVER recommended repairing the leak. Just a new system. Essentially he looked at it and that was it, we need a new system. When I questioned the installation further he told me that he is not an installer and that someone completely different would do that. This company should be ashamed of themselves. They give all HVAC people a bad name. I finally got someone else out and he repaired the leak and system is working perfectly. BUYER BEWARE. read more

Encountered their salesman at the White Lake Home Depot. Told him that I wasn't interested in a system tune up but that, since I just moved into a different house with a thirty year old furnace and an A/C unit of unknown age, I would be interested in an estimate for new replacements. Appointment for an estimate was made for Tuesday, 7/25/2017 at a time that was to be between 12 and 2 PM. Since we were still in the process of moving in and had boxes of stuff all over, I spent an entire day arranging things so it didn't look too bad when the person visited, (my generation I guess worry about dumb things like that). Anyway, Tuesday came....it was twelve.....it was one......it was two........it was three and no Andy's Statewide. Much later in the day we received a phone call that their technician was running behind and to call them back if we still wanted our furnace worked on later than five or on another day. Obviously they are no longer on my consideration list but it did surprise me that they would pass up the opportunity to sell and install a high efficiency furnace and A/C unit to a new customer; guess they don't need the business. Wasted a lot of my wife's and my time though. read more

My old furnace quit, so I called Andy's Statewide and a service technician arrived in less than 2 hours. Unfortunately, it needed to be replaced. I was surprised and pleased they were able to install it the next morning. Reggie and Lance did a great job with my installation. They were on time, professional, and courteous. They explained to me what was happening, and verified what I wanted done. Reggie answered all my questions and even pointed out that I really need to install a few carbon monoxide detectors, and a couple more smoke alarms. Lance explained everything they had installed and went over the systems with me. I also had an air conditioner and water heater installed at the same time and they were finished in a little over 6 hours. Everyone I dealt with at this company was great, I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Agreed to the HVAC service plan for a monthly fee but when the technician came out to service my furnace I decided to go with a whole new system instead. The tech assured me that I would not be charged for the payment plan now that I was buying a whole new HVAC. I was charged anyway. He told me he would call me the next day about the plan, never got a phone call. The tech told me to pick whatever day I wanted for install so I did and no one showed up after I stayed home from work and boarded my dogs for the day. Called Andy's at 10 am and was told I was not on the schedule for that day. 10:30 an install guy showed up (thank you!) without any equipment or my HVAC to install but did get on the phone to order it to be delivered that day while he worked to remove the old system. I could hear the install guy's boss on the phone saying he didn't expect the install guy to get it done that day but thankfully the install guy told him no, that the customer took off work and this was the only day to do the work. I paid a deposit via credit card and let the sales tech know that I would pay the balance in cash. The day after the furnace was installed, before the work on the a/c was even completed, Andy's charged my credit card for the full amount (rather than just the deposit). My credit card company alerted me of the fraudulent charge and I had to close out that card to dispute the charge. The only good thing I can say is that my new furnace is working and the install guy was very pleasant. HVAC companies are a dime a dozen and I wouldn't recommend this one. Update: the electrical did not pass inspection by Waterford Township so Andy's had to come out again. They came back and fixed the problem promptly but a month later and they are trying to send me certified mail I have to be home for to sign to try again to close out the permit. I asked to be sent a copy via regular mail so I could just receive the mail and get it taken care of and was told no. Constant problems! read more
