After many years of driving past this place on the way to Del Amo Mall growing up, I FINALLY checked it out recently! Thankfully, I was able to find parallel parking right in front of this restaurant. Off to a great start! While entering, I loved seeing their homely Home Screen door and their extended patio area. Once you go inside, you will notice how much more lighting this place has as opposed to other Indian places. Their booth architecture was pretty cool and comfy as well. I went during their lunch buffet that others have told me about. Honestly, I kind of expected a little MORE variety for the amount they charge. They randomly have a small barrel jug of tomato soup, and an area just for their naan bread, which is cool; BUT their naan bread is kind of different from the traditional ones that usually have chopped up garlic and coriander on it. Angara's naan bread doesn't have any of that on their naan; which was disappointing. I ended up trying their Tikka Masala, grilled chicken, mixed rice, etc.. Usually in other spots, I get other stuff like samosas, potatoes, and other cool different creative stuff to choose from. Angara has pretty much your basic, standard choices. I was like mehhh. Ate their food and it was just OK. Not bad, just ok. I mean I dig that it doesn't taste too salty, but I wanted more taste. The lady who served us was really nice and I loved her great customer service. Their fried vegetables weren't bad, along with their DIY desserts filled with fruit choices and mango puree. In the end, this place has its own kind of aura and flavors; which makes it a cool alternative to those who actually love going here consistently. I'm just a bigger fan of other Indian restaurants; no disrespect to Angara. To everyone who loves eating here; that's awesome for you! To each their own! I ordered Lamb Biryani and butter chicken and garlic naan ! The lamb biryani I got it level 3 spicy And the butter chicken I got level 7 spicy! Don't order the curry too spicy (unless you are ready to sweat) so you could enjoy your garlic naan ! I order 3 batches of the naan it goes really well with the delicious curry sauce The lamb biryani was really good as well and the portion was enough for 3 people for sure I almost forgot I even ordered the garlic Parmesan fries for starters which was really good especially if you like garlic Shout out Joy ! My wife and I come to Angara pretty much every week for our dinner date the food is just that good. The flavors are always on point, and you can tell everything is made fresh. We've tried a bunch of dishes, and honestly haven't had a bad one yet. The service is always excellent. The young gentleman (sorry dont know is name) is friendly and makes you feel welcome without being over the top. Ambiance-wise, it's nothing fancy pretty simple setup -- but we don't mind. I ordered tikka chicken. It's supposed to be all white meat chicken. Instead, they cut off the drumsticks and thighs from the buffet early in the day and cooked it again. What a delightful lunch! This place is very clean and the buffet had a mix of north and South Indian dishes. I enjoyed the variety they offer from chicken, paneer, to street food dishes. The chai tea station and dessert is also a delicious touch! Finally, the staff in particular Shitrit was so kind and helpful. She took the time to let us know of each dish and origin. Avoid this place if you are a vegan or like quality food. I bought the food on their online menu and I picked it up. I ordered lentil soup; it's listed as vegan. Someone put cream or butter in it. I'm sick. And there are NO lentils in this soup. It's lentil-flavored. And oily. Yuck. I also ordered yellow dal. The dal is thinner than the lentil-like soup. It tastes like dish water. Even though I live in the neighborhood I wouldn't walk here if the food was free. And trust me, it was definitely not free. Randomly came across this place because of our craving for tikka masala and we were surprised by the buffet they have for lunch. For around $14.99 between 11am to 2:30pm they layout a good amount of their menu items for the buffet. I haven't tried enough Indian food to say much but everything here tasted so good. The chicken tikka masala was creamy and flavorful. The saag paneer was on par with the tikka masala with the flavor but it had a much different taste. Then to add some texture there was also vegetable pakora, the crunch pieced everything so well. Not to mention their fresh naan they gave out as well. I tried the chicken tandoori as well and it seemed like with all this food that it wouldn't taste as good mixed but not with this. We had to change venues for our daughter's second birthday party in less than a week's time. In that time, Joy, was able to support us and really put together a last minute spot for her. Although it was not what I was really driving towards or what I wanted, I appreciated how much they were able to help in such a short span of time. That really meant a lot - especially because this was our first birthday celebration for her. The guests enjoyed the appetizers, entrees and desserts. The samosas were very delicious!
