This is a quaint little locally owned Mexican restaurant in East Boston. Before you head over check out their website to learn about the owner, she is adorable and has been cooking for over 50 years. It's definitely not good for large groups but perfect for a couple of friends getting together for drinks or lunch and they have a really good breakfast as well. The food is authentic and delicious. I ordered the mini flautas and a michelada. As you can see from the picture everything was very fresh and I savored every bite. We had to wait outside for half hour to get a table, though the owner offered some water to the group in front of us but then he ignored two groups of people behind them. I did not understand the logical reason but there was a Mexican world cup game playing on TV and it seemed staffs in the restaurant slowed down the pace to serve their customers. The breakfast menu was good and cheaper and most of people ordered them but we decided to try some tacos. First of all, the waitress asked us if we would like to have some Guacamole to go with chips and two of us said yes. Then she came over and outsold us the gigantic bowl of Guacamole at $9.50. We did not even know there were side dishes size or small dish of it. The Guacamole was good but their selling strategy was a bit shabby. We also had Queso Fundido, which was not good at all. The mozzarella cheese took over a whole dish and very difficult to dish out. The two Taco al Pastor were authentic and steak quesadillas was okay. I do not mind going back to try their brunch menus and some other stuffs next time but def would be careful my next Guacamole oder. read more

One of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. I came here on a whim during an overnight stay in East Boston, it just so happened to be one of the few places open. I saw this restaurant on TV once years ago and never forgot about it. Guy said it was authentic Mexican cuisine from Puebla. Well he didn't lie. The good is Mexican perfection . Rojas Poblanos appetizer was fresh and delicious. The Guacamole was heaven. However, the chicken mole poblano was beyond perfection I wanted to cry. It's so difficult to find authentic mole. Angela's Cafe is a great place to come for brunch on a weekend. We came here in a group of eight and they were very accommodating. The wait was not too long, considering the size of our group for the size of the restaurant. The server was patient with us when we needed some time to order food. Everything came out relatively quickly and was amazing. We got the Huevos Poblanos, Deluxe Rancheros and a side of corned beef hash. The portion sizes were generous. Some of the other people we came with ordered the Dulce De Leche Pancakes, which were amazing as well. The Mexican coffee was pricier than I would've expected but it was good. I don't ever come to East Boston unless I'm passing through to avoid the airport exit toll to get back to Cambridge. Since I have a commercial vehicle, I save $5.25 each time I avoid the toll. Since I love Latin American music, culture, and food, I decided to see what other Yelpers discovered in this part of town. Seeing that Angela's had 130 reviews, 4 stars, and that I was only 5 blocks away, I decided to make a solo trip. 20 chairs and 3 barstools. The place is really small and the decor was simple and colorful. The music at 9 am was awesome, Reggaeton, Bachata, and other Latin hits that I typically hear at Latin clubs. Made me wish people were dancing or something. I ordered the Chilequenos and found them to be good for what they were. Flavors and spice pretty neutral, not bad, but not super exciting. I can see myself eating this stuff if I was sick, but not really any other time. I guess speaks more to me learning that not I'm not super jazzed about Chilequenos. The coffee was nothing special either. I did find the service to be better than I was expecting. The whole time I was there between 9-10am, every table was occupied and there was only one young lady taking orders and waiting all the tables. It was pretty impressive. (10:01 AM update, the restaurant is officially packed and there are a couple ppl standing and almost everyone is speaking Spanish and I think the lady forgot my single pancake side order). read more

It's like home. This small restaurant is fantastic. Everything is quality and made so well. This place takes care of you! I've tried Angela's special which is a great breakfast selection of eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, and the home fries which are great cut up potatoes. And then today I had an omelet and a side of pancake. Honestly it felt like a homemade meal, all of it was so yummy. The hot chocolate is warm and delicious. There's something about a neighborhood diner that gives me the butterflies. As a foodie, I can honestly say I love the ones with a story. Family owned, their ancestor's recipes, survived the Great Depression, wars, recession, etc. It brings me a sense of nostalgia, back to a time when it was simple. From the corner location smack dab In the middle of a an East Boston neighborhood, just parking and seeing the life of the surrounding area come alive brought me great joy. Walking in, the interior was cozy and quaint. The diners looked like regulars and some tourist. But all in all, the walls and pictures tell a story of the famous visitors or media pieces that honored the cafe itself. This is a local gem. Looking at the menu, I wanted to try everything, but I had a flight to catch, so I settled for the breakfast burrito. Easy eat for a Hispanic food vet. The flavors were exceptional and the waitress was kind and attentive not only to me, but to all guest. Another Friday night in quarantine, another Mexican takeout and OOOMMMGGGG Angela's!!! Amazing. Veggie burrito sans sour cream/cheese, devoured. So flavorful, filling, nicely prepared (which, let's be real, tough to do when you're working with just veggies beans rice and guac). Nevertheless, SO freaking delish, easily the best veggie burrito I've ever had. Hubs got the tamales and pipian verde-also devoured. He said the spice was perfect and everything was wonderfully made. I cannot wait until we can actually go here in person! Also the woman on the phone couldn't have been sweeter and our food got here in no time. Prices aren't crazy and everything tasted fresh. Very bad services, I sat with my family for about 45 min and never got my food, my husband and my daughter were done eating and my food never arrived. I think the waitress forgot to about in my order. The owner sat in a conner and did not come over to apologize, but he was quick to grab the check to see if we had left a tip. We send the rice back becase it was under cooked and never got the tortillas that we had ordered with the food. Over all, they can not handle the few tables they have they need new management and new waitresses. This place might be good for take out but think twice if you want to go there for dinner. Felt like I had teleported to Mexico for brunch. I came here for brunch on Veteran's Day. The place only had a few tables with dining patrons, so it was easy to get a seat. I sat down and was quickly brought a menu and water. I ordered an iced coffee, which arrived almost instantly. The specials were posted on the chalk board, but I went with the chorizo and egg breakfast plate. It came with a fried plantain, avocado and cojita cheese. It was perfect. The amount of food wasn't overwhelming and the portions weren't as big as most places, which I liked. The prices are reasonable and I will be back to try their dinner! read more

I walk over about 5 minutes early and they say it'll just be a minute - 20 minutes later I finally get my food. The quesadillas were just OK. But the guac was so good!
