New Modern, clean, fresh tap house with an excellent to-go beer cooler and great local PNW drafts on tap! Chill simple space with modern tunes, quiet TVs and relaxed atmosphere. A great addition to the town's pub choices. Bonus is they also sell brewing supplies for home brew needs. Pop on by and check out the rotation of taps. Cheers!

One of my favorite places to grab a drink in Port Angeles. This place has everything I look for in a tap-house; a lot of varieties of beer/cider, kind/knowledgeable employees, and an amazing atmosphere where you can easily spend hours just chilling and watching the world go by.

This place is exactly what Port Angeles needed. The new Tap Room has a great selection of beers in a rad ambience and environment. Not only are they one of the only places in town offering the best rotating tap of microbrews, they are also providing it in a classy comfortable environment. We absolutely loved all the beers in our flight and the specialty hot dog we had tonight. Also you can fill growlers here! We're excited to come here weekly to listen to live music, watch the surf channel and drink the best beer available in town.

It was a perfect way to spend a few hours. It was a pleasant Spring afternoon and it was busy. There is seating indoors and outdoors. We chose seats at the window indoors. Once a big crowd left, it was a lot more pleasant for us -- we like a bit of space and quiet brewery whenever possible. It seems timing, depending on what you prefer is the key to success when visiting here. The beers were delicious. I went with a dark beer, high abv. It was the Doppelback. My husband had a saison Brett for ironic reasons. They were both delicious. It was so lovely just hanging out and enjoying the brewery. Staff were friendly and seemed like they loved every bit of their job. The washrooms were clean. There was a Mac and Cheese pop up stand/truck. Families ordered from it while we were there and the kids sure seemed to enjoy it. Parking can be tricky when it's busy. We ended up parking on the side of the road. Who cares, though. The beers were worth it! See website for more details.

They were cooking pizzas furiously but their ovens were handling the load and their crusts were cooked perfectly. That's common problem at pizzerias when the pace is fast and furious; they tend to send the crust out uncooked. Not this place; their crust was delicious. The problem was that I ordered a Salsiccia, a sausage pizza and there was little or no sausage on the pizza. It was take out so I could not just return it. It wasn't horrible without sausage but it was not what I ordered. I have to ask myself why people would do this? It was a very simple thing to put sausage on the pizza so how could they forget it? Or did they do it on purpose because I only tipped $2.00? In my mind, 10% is a nice tip for TAKEOUT. After all, it is less than half the work for the staff if I take the Pizza home. Where is the special service in take out? The tips are not a way for a cheap employer to pay their employees; they are a bonus for taking good care of the customer. But, there is a minimum standard for taking care of the customer and giving them what they paid for is part of that minimum standard. I think they might have the formula for good pizza but I won't go back.

Talk about hitting out of the park with the first stop! Whistle Buoy is located in a Market Square that's a beautiful open air area surrounded by shops, boutiques, restaurants, assorted businesses, and vast tracts of land with chairs and tables. Since it's surrounded by buildings on all four sides the wind would be challenged to ruffle your hair once inside. For this stop of the Ale Trail excursion we were each allowed one glass (not a taster...a full 12oz glass) of one brew. They have roughly a dozen taps that run the typical gamut of beer styles. I immediately gravitated toward the Shaft Coffee Stout. Not my usual go-to, (I'm usually more of an IPA / Pale Ale kinda guy) but something about "Dark. Coffee. Chocolate" grabbed my attention (Here's the part where Jim has an advantage. Jim's wife doesn't drink beer, so Jim gets her selection, too, so she (ok, I) chose the Froth Hazy Pale for hers (ok, for me).) I didn't expect the highlight of the excursion to be the very first beer I had, but the Shaft Coffee Stout was quite possibly the best beer I've ever had. It was smooth and rich and had such an amazing flavor. Honestly, it was more like dessert. I'm not saying my wife's beer (ok, my 2nd) wasn't awesome, it's just that the Shaft set the bar REALLY high. ( I'm just talkin' 'bout Shaft! ) Our group sat in the outdoor, covered beer garden, the weather was slightly overcast, and we were surrounded by like-minded beer lovers (except my wife, who donates to my cause.) As we sat the Market Square was busy with life as people walked their dogs, visited businesses, and a group of elementary school kids was escorted through the square. Sometimes it's nice to sit back and watch the world go by. The restrooms (gender neutral, thank you) are small...ok, tiny. There's barely enough room to change your mind. I do have to call attention to two things, though. First, it has the tiniest sink I've ever seen. Surely this thing had to be custom made. Second, they have a Code of Conduct posted on the wall, which I genuinely appreciated. Nothing outrageous, just a focus on respect and common decency. If I were able to get Shaft Coffee Stout at home I'd never leave home (actually I would just to get more Shaft Coffee Stout). It was only a brief visit to Whistle Buoy Brewing, but if I ever found myself living in Victoria, BC, there is no doubt this is where I'd hang out.

For our flight, we chose Marketplatz German Pils, fuzzy peach sour, lemon lime fizz and the Shaft coffee stout.
