As a new dog owner, I am unsure of some grooming "norms". She told me how often I should bring him in to keep him looking good and to make sure that he was more comfortable with the process. We have two labrador/golden retriever dogs that shed...to the point of my husband asking when I put the dogs in the freezer based on the dog hair he found there (eww, gross!). I finally decided enough was enough and they needed to be shaved. I brought them to Angelica's, and she was super nice and the prices were reasonable. She only takes cash, so be prepared for that, and tipping is always appreciated, but it's worth it. My dogs are not fans of being groomed, but she was so calm and gentle with them that they did great. When I picked them up they weren't nervous or upset at all, which says a lot. The best part is that even though they are shaved, it's not a super close shave so I'm not worried about sunburns or anything on them, which was my biggest concern with having them shaved. read more

We were going out of town so made an appointment to have our golden Retriever groomed at Angelica's to be ready for the dog sitter. After COVID we were happy to find someone open with good reviews. When I walked in for his 9:30 appointment, I was told, so sorry but I'm too busy today, I can't take him. The appointment was made days ago and she didn't have the courtesy or professionalism to make a phone call? So we are just left hanging because Angelica's can't manage a scheduling book. I had called for an appointment the previous day. When we got there she was grooming another dog. But took the short time to help us. We were just getting our dog Yoshi a nail trim. He was apprehensive but she talked with him and was able to get the job done. When I went to pay , she said today was on the house. I'm going to send her a gift of thanks. And we'll be back. I'm sure Yoshi get to know her. She even washed and gave a tangerine to my grandson. Very sweet lady. read more

Love them! They do a great job - he comes back clean, clipped, and happy. They actually perform the services we pay for, unlike some places. They had no problem with our Doberman Pinscher, quite the opposite, they loved him. There are many groomers that freak out or are afraid of the breed and won't clip his nails or brush his teeth. He's an absolute sweetheart & goofball and loves everyone. Very reasonably priced & very quick as well. We'll drop him off and 4 hours later pick him up. It costs an average of $40 for bath, nails, & teeth. Edit: It's actually only 40 because he hadn't been in before - when we take him in regularly its $25. TWENTY FIVE singles for a detailed doggie - can't beat that! read more

Just came in today after taking the dog and kid to get coffee at the gas station next door (way better coffee than Starbucks!!). This couple is really sweet. They are Christians so it's nice to see their prayer request wall and shoe drive for the homeless in the corner. They got me in right then and there which was awesome! The price for a full groom (Minus a cut since I have a Bulldog with short hair) was about $5.00 less than other places I've called in the past. My pup is 7 months old and it was his first time at the groomer so he was pretty well terrified. They did a good job; wash, condition, nail trim, teeth brushed, glands expressed. They wiped out his ears too which was nice because it looked like they got a bit of water in them during the bath. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they only scrubbed down one of his tear stains. My pup was freaking out so badly that they forgot to scrub down the other side of his face. They also didn't offer him any water and, being a Bulldog, they tend to overheat, especially when he's stressed and panting from being nervous. He drank 10 Oz of water after he was done so I know he was thirsty poor fella. That and the woman's first comment to me was that my pup needed to loose weight before he started having trouble breathing....I own 2 Bulldogs who are both very fit and healthy. They both are at the low end of their preferred weight, walk 2 miles per day and eat the top brand dog food, exactly to specs for their age....just 3/4 cup twice a day! Just because he's a beast of a Bulldog weighing 50 lbs at only 7 months old doesn't mean he's fat! He's just going to be a humongous Bulldog!! After the grooming the man told me that I needed to make sure my pup was leash trained, listened on command, and learned to be obedient. When I replied that he was, his response was 'yeah right'!! My 4 year old walks my dog every day with no help from me and my 6 year old can have him doing tricks and his obedience commands all on her own.....sit, come, no, back, leave it, beg for cookies, high 5..... Both comments were kind of offensive to me. I've been a dog owner all my life and all of my dogs have started training at 6 moths of age, with reinforcement throughout their lives. He's just a pup at the groomer for the first time, cut me some slack!! Oh yea, my pup did slip out of his lead three times, one time jumping off the table in font of a nervous pitt bull someone had just dropped off. That could have been a disaster but they gathered him up in time and got him back on the table. Overall they did a good job. I would go back if my pup needed a spit shine lol. Simply because they are both nice people who seem to have no trouble getting you in last minute with no appointment! And because my dog doesn't smell like farts and trash anymore so that's always a bonus!! read more

Let me start off by saying I am only giving you one star so that I can write a review. I took my husky here for a simple grooming and they butchered her. They cut her tip of her tail off and cut her hair all awkwardly and I did not even ask for either to be trimmed at all. They also messed up her eyes and she could not even open them after she got home. I don't know what they did to her but she was terrified after her grooming. They were very unprofessional and rude and they took way longer than they originally said. If you want your fur baby groomed and treated the right way then steer clear of this place because that is the last thing you will get. read more

I have been taking my dogs here for over 2years. The people that own and work here are so good with all my animals! They may be small and the building doesn't have all the fancy stuff of some other groomers but they make up for it in oodles with their sweet loving disposition and care of each animal that comes threw the door! I talked to the gentleman the first few times we went there and found out that this is a husband wife ran establishment and it was his wife's dream and he quit his job to make that a reality for her. Such a sweet story and the care of the animals is very apparent!! Highly recommend this groomer!! read more

I really love getting my dogs groomed here. I ask for Angelica personally though because I feel that her cutting is more soft and fluid. Her husband is a sweetheart but I feel his grooming is more choppy. It's not bad looking I just prefer the way Angelica grooms. I also love how they never make me feel guilty my parents dogs having fleas EVERYTIME they come in to be groomed. Being in a neighborhood where 4 houses with dogs touch your yard causes flea issues. read more

These people WILL and I mean absolutely WILL hit and hurt your dog!! I took my dog here twice unfortunately. My dog could be a bit difficult. He was old and grouchy but never aggressive, he just had trouble standing and didnt particularly like his feet touched. The first time I brought him back from this place he was limping really bad, but I just thought it was because he was old and had a long day, I made the huge mistake of bringing him back again... After he was there for about 45 minutes I got a call that he was on his was to the vet, he had had a seziure from being too stressed. I rushed to the vet only so find they couldn't do anything and my baby boy died shorty after that. I had a very uneasy feeling and ordered X-rays and a nercropsy done. Sure enough he had three broken ribs and crushed windpipe and trama to his organs! The vet told me he would have had to be kicked pretty hard multiple times in order to have sustained injuries this bad! Of course the salon owners had no idea what I was talking about when confronted and I fact I was cused out and forced to leave when I questioned them!! Do not bring your dogs to this aweful place please!!! There is no one there to keep them accountable for what they do to our dogs!! There are plenty of better priced better quality salons who won't hurt your animals!! read more

I specifically told the man that took in my Goldendoodle at Angelica's that under no circumstances is he to get ANY water in her ears. She is highly prone to ear infections and this is my only request. I told him he could cut/trim her however he felt necessary, but no water in the ears was my only request. When my wife went in to pick her up he had given her a haircut that made her look like she was ready for military boot camp. But that was not the problem. He told her that our dog's ears were a bit dirty and that he needed to FLUSH them. My gosh, is this man an idiot? We took her to Dr Judy (the very best vet in East County) and he said that this flushing had perforated her ear drums and that it may have caused permanent damage to her ears. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PETS, NEVER TAKE THEM TO ANGELICA'S PET GROOMING IN LAKESIDE. We never will. read more

I have found a new place to take my dog Guinness!! I wasn't in the market for a new groomer, but when there was a 10 day wait at my old place...I looked up Angelica's. She fit us in the next day! When I arrived, Angelica greeted me, and my dog...came around the counter to pet him and give him love! She said it would be about three hours...They called me to come get him in 3 hours exactly!! Guinness looks and smells great!! When I picked him up, Richard and David came out and introduced themselves...it was a great experience for me and my dog!! We will be back!! read more

I can not in my right mind rate this place. First off I was trying to call another groomer. But for some reason kept ending up with Richard. When I brought my dog in I really did not think anything. I just wanted my dog to get a summer cut. When I picked her up her right eye was swollen. I was told she might have a tear duct problem. The problem was her eye was swollen above the eye not below. I called the same day but they had already closed. Looking closer at my dogs eye, I noticed it was very red. Blood shot red. This dog has never had a problem like that before. The next morning Richard called me. I asked point blank " did anything happen to my dog? did you get soap in her eye? did she fall? " He said no. She was very sweet and came in like that. Two nights later, I'm having dinner with my new neighbors. I mentioned about getting my dog groomed and where. The reaction was horrible. They too had taken their dog to this groomer, and their dog also came home with red eyes. They had an eerily similar story. This is to much of a coincidence. I don't want anyone else's dog to go through what these little dogs went through. And if Angelica is aware of what is going on shame on her. read more

Today was my first time at this groomer. They were able to get me a quick appointment for both my dogs. It took them 1.5 hours for shampoo and cut for both dogs( I was the 1st appt of the day). Which has never happened to me! It usually takes any other groomer that I have been to 3x that long! They did a great job on both dogs. I will be going here from now on! Thanks so much! read more

We have a pure bred Lhasa Apso who can act like a cross between an angry pit bull and a hungry piranha when being groomed and Angelica and her husband Richard are the absolute best with him. She is literally a pet whisperer, I've sat and watched her gently place her hand under his chin and trim around his eyes without him moving a muscle, you try that with your pet and let me know that works out! Horrible. 1st time customer. Took time from work to bring my cat in at 12pm. I confirmed the night before my appt. with owner asking me to bring my cat in earlier if I could. Since I work we agreed I could pick her up before 4pm. Brought her on appt. date only to be told that I had to pick her up by 2pm! Since I work and had confirmed our appts. time, I was shocked the owner was oblivious to the her neglect and wasting a client's time. I left without services since I could not pick up my cat at the owners last minute change of pick up time. By the way, business hours posted at the store is 8am-4pm. I will never go back again. I would rather spend my money where the client is appreciated. read more
