However, once you do get a spot, the loungers are super comfortable and there are plenty of umbrellas for shade. They do have cabanas that you can reserve. One thing that they do very well is service. The staff is constantly circulating the pool deck, providing drinks and bites to guests. The service was noticeably excellent and attentive.

Not sure if our host timed it all or if they take a while to prep, but we were there for just about three hours total. The steak was definitely the highlight of the meal for me. Nicely cooked and reasonably tender for skirt steak. They had a few misses in service - we got some drinks we didn't order (we ordered mimosas and somehow got a mezcal cocktail?) and they didn't give serving utensils despite a family style meal, so it was difficult to scoop hash browns with a fork. Overall, it was a nice spot and seemed pretty popular outside our meal.

I thought this over a bit. What it comes down to is simple. New ownership, new goals, new business.... same shell. If you loved the old place... then don't bother trying the new one. Meaning, the things you could love about the old place, was the amazing food, the pizza that was piled high with toppings... and just enough cheese to flavor it. The deserts that were a form of perfected process over the years.. The family friendly layout so you could grab some privacy with your loved ones ... Everything that was the old place was built from a business model of being self-employed. The original owner clearly didn't want to expand into a chain, they didn't want to turn over the most profit they could. The old place was clearly built on the ideal of running a great neighborhood restaurant, that would be a part of the local community and serve up the best pizza you can find anywhere. That goal served the original owners well. The original owners sold the business. They gave up their vision of what this restaurant is, and could be... and sold it off to the new owners. If you are looking for any of the above, it is time to let go of that version of Angelo's... That version was a gem.. a beautiful memory... whose time has now passed. The new guys, invested heavily into this location ... they have another vision entirely... They want to make money, they want success, and they want to do it in a way that transitions nicely into the local scene. They want to retain the old customer base, in as much as the old customer base likes high end bar food, and lots to drink. The new Angelo's is a full service bar, that can push the tastiest, greasiest pizzas you can imagine. The ingredients are largely the same, but a new oven, stingy spread of toppings, and relying on too much on cheese fat / grease for flavor have reduced a pizza eating experience that left you feeling sated, to one that leaves you feeling like you've just drank a gallon left over French fry grease. This establishment now caters more to the night life. It's trying hard to walk the balance between being a neighborhood restaurant by day, and a night life destination at night. It's a great date night place for the 20 to 30something crowd. As such, I'm sure this place will thrive, as they have made all the right moves. If you loved the old place, you will hate the new place. You'll also note that 90% of the bad reviews are from people who can't handle this transition. I can't either. However, for those who never cared about the great food at Angelo's... this new business... is fine. The pizza is better than pizza hut, the bar is new and updated, the atmosphere is intimate, friendly, and allows for being openly social. The new owners will most likely find a lot of success here. I will mourn the loss of great pizza; to the current chef: Try and focus on the flavors of ingredients without having to marinate them in sauces, bring back options like green chili's, pile those veggies and toppings high, it's what creates the flavors that bring people back for more... and pure dairy fat is no replacement for flavor. Your 20 something / drunk patronage will most likely never know the difference. You will lose a lot of long term loyal customers to this location, however the way you are set up... it's only a matter of time before any monies they would have brought in gets replaced by a new crowd who just doesn't know any better. The butternut squash ravioli was also a hit, with its creamy filling and perfectly cooked pasta. The mushroom annolotti was another great option for vegetarians, with a hearty pasta and Brussels sprouts. The calzone was cheesy and did not disappoint, and the salmon risotto was delicious. We finished our meal with limoncello, which was a refreshing and satisfying way to end the afternoon. While the food was generally excellent, there were a few disappointments. The Bloody Mary was okay, but not exceptional. Additionally, we were charged $8 for grilled chicken to accompany the kids' penne, which seemed excessive given that the kids' meal already came with a protein option. I had a very disappointing experience on a Monday afternoon. My party and I arrived at around 5:00 pm for the Monday mussel special. The service was not good. Apparently not enough staffing and it was extremely busy! They were out of mussels at 5:00 which is the reason we went. We had to wait for a mussel delivery. At 5:00 pm? Come on now! We opted to do the clam and fettuccine special. Where was the fettuccine? We had to order a side of it because so little came with the dish. And it took so long for them to bring it! And the server spilled sauce from the clam dish on me and the floor! Not going back anytime soon! Also, we sat with our dirty plates on the table for quite awhile. All you need to know is...HAPPY HOUR OYSTERS $1 RAW/$2 CHARBROILED. Did someone say they need an aphrodisiac?! That's my review... Hahah just kidding. I want to come back and actually try some of their other dishes but my friends and I came by for some late night happy hour and of course we were drawn in by their awesome oyster prices. I had the original charbroiled oyster and it had a very nice buttery flavor to it, but at the end of the day, I think raw oysters are more of my thing. We also got a chance to try their special of the day, which they don't always have one, according to the waitress (who was also super sweet) and it was a great dish! My second time coming here to this location. I have been to Angelo's other locations and this location is the best by far. I love how family friendly it is and ample parking. I love coming here for their happy hour 3-6 EVERYDAY. I go through oyster phases where I need to satisfy my cravings. Their HH oysters is the perfect way. You can't beat their freshness and their price. We order dozens at a time. I highly recommend their calamari. It was absolutely delicious. Although I yeah they had more calamari rather than their fried peppers. The vibes very casual. We sat at the patio since our 3 boys came with us. The patio has a small grassy area where the kids can run around. I can't wait to head back to try more! read more

I have never understood the rave reviews about this place. Small portions and rather expensive. The big thing here is the ice rink in the back, otherwise known as the parking lot. Seriously folks, you risk serious injury walking across the lot for two weeks after a significant snowstorm. Someone is gonna fall someday, and I hope they sue the property owners into oblivion. I don't think Angelo's owns the property, but it doesn't seem like they give a damn. The food is okay, I guess. We were stuck in the bar area. The tables are so close together you feel like you're all one big happy group. And it's LOUD. You have to shout to be heard. read more

There are more and more reasons to avoid restaurants in general: Fattening food, high prices, noise, little tricks to get more of your money, TV sets everywhere. Well, some friend took me to Angelo's recently (they paid), and we all noticed the prices had gone up. We also noticed that there was no salt and pepper on the table. How cheap can they get? The real surprise came with the check - a charge for the kitchen staff! (It just says "surcharge" on the bill). The way to handle that is to deduct that amount from the tip. I guess we should be thankful that there wasn't a silverware charge. We all pledged to not return. read more

First!!! I'd like to thank MJ and her coworkers for making it a memorable experience. So I am 5 months pregnant and my gender reveal was supposed to be at the Rockies Coors stadium. My assistant coordinated and paid everything in advance for this special day and unfortunately our gender reveal was never shown. I was quite disappointed. Yeah, damn, the food here is *really* good. Superb. Sublime. Whatever you wanna call it, it's THAT good. I don't think I've ever eaten food that made me grin from ear to ear until I ate their Butternut Squash Ravioli. My tastebuds basically soaked up every morsel of delicious sauce/food concoction that was on that plate. If it was socially acceptable for me to lick the plate clean in a packed, Friday night restaurant, I 100% would. I restrained myself but I sure as hell wanted to. I can tell you how much I love this place. This was the first restaurant we been to in Denver and when we were looking for our home. We moved right up the street on Pearl and could go in walking distance. Everyone here is so incredibly kind and it is our favorite spot even after moving further down the street. First and for most, I want everyone to know that I love this place! The food here is absolutely stellar! Will always come back. But, our waitress was horrible! She was going wayyyyyyyy too fast. My wife who wanted to get her opinion and ask about a couple things was rushed and it was just a bad experience. She mentioned she was new. And I get it, but touching your tables just to check it off a list is not what I want for a server! Need to make it more personal and more of an experience. Maybe taking out is better but just didn't have a great experience. read more

As a resident of the neighborhood I have underestimated the quality and experience at Angelo's Taverna. I'm sitting on the back patio and having a great time. Jeff is my server and he is very attentive and pleasant. He recommended the "Life on Mars" which was spot on - not too sweet gin cocktail. I was happy with the generous portion of dressing applied to the Caesar Salad. The bruschetta took me by surprise. It came on a flatbread like a pizza. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious bruschetta taste. Will be back for sure! read more

This is not very good pizza. Think "Home Run" frozen cheese pizza with a meager scattering of fresh toppings . . . although Home Run is more generous with their sauce. Cannot comment on the quality of the sauce because there was so little of it. Crust was dry and flavorless. Cheese was unimpressive. Toppings were good, but there wasn't very any of them. Price was outrageous considering the substandard quality. Ordered a Jack & Coke and I think they added the whiskey with an eyedropper it was so weak. Will not be back. read more

If you're in the area and yearn for seafood, this is a fantastic spot to go. The quality of the oysters is comparable to that of the city's more pricey seafood establishments. With my friend, I've been there a few times already, and each time, I've had good food. However, this time I merely got the dinner special with the chargrilled oysters and the toasted ravioli. It is more of a casual grab-and-go establishment. If you're visiting on the weekend, you should make reservations or be prepared to wait. read more

Within each course, there are a couple of choices to make. Our server lead us in the right direction for every course. He was amazing, super knowledgeable, and helped us pick the exact right dish every time. Carne has several signature cocktails. It was a difficult choice, but I opted for the Aspenglow - perfect choice to pair with my selections of foods in every course. For my first course, I selected the burrata. The burrata was delicious as it was atop a poached acorn squash. This was so good, I had to take some home to eat as my lunch the next day. Get it with the toasted crostinis. While the crostinis do not come with the burrata, you won't be sorry for adding them on! Second course, I had to go with the green chili potatoes. In almost every review, these potatoes are talked about. I can see why as they are delicious, flavorful, and perfectly accompany your main course. Third course, I had to try the 6oz Bison Teres Major. Our server stated this is one of his favorite dishes in terms of it being one of the best tasting, prepared, and served meats at Carne. I couldn't agree with him more. I ordered this medium rare and it was perfection. I also had a couple of bites of the Brazilian Pichana - amazingly good as well. They do well with their dipping sauces, as each sauce is specifically selected for the meat. While all the sauces are heavenly, Carne does know what they are doing with the pairings - it's like a fine art almost! For the final course, we each tried tastes of the chocolate brownie and seasonal panna cotta. Both were absolutely to die for.
