    Chicken Piccante
    Kelly B.

It's a small pizza place that's been a staple in this town since 1976 located in a near deserted strip mall on this night. This was my 3rd visit in the past 6 years and every time I've come here it gets better. The food is 5 star! I had the Chicken Piccante with extra lemon sauce minus the Pasta and it was so good that I wished I had more and I had a side of "oh my god" the best sautéed spinach with garlic I think I've ever had at a pizza joint with the fresh out of the oven bread. My friend had the Chicken Parmigiana that he said it was great with a side of Pasta. We did not indulge in dessert this time but it was offered. The service was outstanding with a waitress who had good knowledge of the menu and the different sauces. This is not a fancy place, so if you're looking for great food at great prices this is your place. I can't wait to go back! Their hours our 11:00 am to 10:00 pm Monday - Thursday, Friday & Saturday 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, Sun 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. Eat in or take out, you can order online also www.AngelospizzaPhilly.com

They used to be very good. Now they suck! Why? Almost $18 for a MEDIUM pizza. I refuse to ever eat there again.

Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: no reservations Return worthiness: yes! Eve awards best cheesesteak of my life--still thinking about it Highlights: - The bread: a soft long roll with sesame seeds was a delight I didn't see coming. - Meat: was lightly seasoned but kept its pure flavor. Most cheesesteaks have such bland meat so this did it right - Cheese: melty coopers cheese was perfectly mixed in. - Onions: just the right soloing if grilled onions mixed in to complement the meat but not overwhelm it. - Size: monstrous! You can easily share (but you may not want to). - Fairly efficient: even with long lines, put your phone number in the kiosk, can pay with credit card, and wait til you are texted to pick it up. - For the whole family: my cranky teen son said it's the best thing he ate on our 23 day summer East Coast trip (including lots of great dining spots around Philly and NYC). Lowlights: - Waits can be long and brutal in heat. We got lucky with a shorter line. - No seating: just an ordering counter inside so many are eating out on the sidewalk.

Our server apologized for a delay in taking our drink orders. She was attentive the rest of our meal. I ordered a Charles deGaulle whiskey cocktail. Lemon, aperol and simple syrup added a refreshing twist. For entrees, my wife ordered the pacherri; a simple pork ragu with tender broccoli rabe, Parmesan, stracciatello and basil. The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Cocktail prices and entree prices were very reasonable. They offer happy hour drinks and specials. Certainly a very good choice if you're in the area.

The short rib over polenta was probably my favorite thing on the table - it fell apart easily and the polenta underneath wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be. We got the salted caramel budino for dessert too, and I was glad it wasn't one of those desserts that's so sweet you can only handle two bites. Would go back honestly. Probably order something different next time just to try more of the menu, but I'm getting that ricotta again no matter what.

Creamy Oregano Salad: very interesting. small shaves of mushroom and fennel. very slight bitter taste. oddly addictive. the olives were my favorite part. i'd consider these friendly olives to those suspicious of olives. and the olives are cut in halves, so easy to pick out. so are the mushrooms. easy split for a table of four. beyond that i'd get two. *ADD ON* pickled chilies: very good. I suggest adding this to the pie. they are green, spicy, delicious, absolutely lovely. Corn Pizza: all together very delicious. my favorite part are the cherry tomatoes on top, which I would really like to be an add on option to other pies. they are the perfect flavor and size. i'm not particularly a tomato fan, especially whole. these are a rare exception. Classic Pizza?: solid, no notes. good as always. My only wish is that they offered a sauce to dip my crust in. they have very good crust, perfect ration of crispy and fluffy. just needs a sauce. Overall, great service, the manager greeted us to check on our meal, our server was attentive, the vibe is great inside.
