Visiting from out of town. Went for a drink and an appetizer, queso supreme was good. I had a mix up with my drink, I ordered the Fredom rita but got a regular frozen margarita, our waitress was apologetic and willing to make the switch. I ended up keeping the drink and it was delicious! My husband has the Burros Breakfast on tap and it was great. We were there during Memorial Day, they had live music, it was great! Been to Angels Ice house a handful of times now. The kids always have so much fun on the playground and building towers with their blocks (See photo ) The food and drinks have always been good every visit. Our server Chess was very patient and so kind! Definitely go visit Angels Ice House and ask for Chess! Ok folks I want to give a major shout out to Erin. She was smart enough to go back and look at negative reviews before the update of Angels. She reach out to me to give their establishment another try even though I had a bad experience and never wanted to go back. Let me tell you I was glad I accepted the invite. My current experience was delightful. My wife was concerned when we arrived if they would serve us because there wasn't a host to seat us, but right away we were greeted by our server and took our drink order. Next, our host took our order and it was delivered quickly. The burger I ordered was delicious and my wife's salad was yummy. She especially loved how they did their croutons. Very unique. I was surprised by the amount of french fries I received with my burger. I couldn't finish them all. Our server, Eric, was amazing as well as all the staff. What was cool is their layout. It went from bar to deck to under the oak trees which was awesome. The food was really good and fast. I noticed the staff working well together enjoying their jobs. They were all very helpful. I asked if I could have my ice tea to go and Eric gave me a fresh cup and straw to go. Very classy. Because he didn't take my current cup but choose to give me a fresh cup. I was also glad to see they were hiring veterans. Eric our server was a vet Marine . Which I am as well. Sempre fi. The ambience was relaxing and subperb. Giving that I live across the way consider me a new regular. Congratulations Angle's for being a new improve establishment to our Spicewood community. I will now be a frequent customer. This is a great place to watch a game and have some drinks. The staff is very friendly, they let us stay and watch the Astros in the World Series as they were cleaning up to close. A climber's dream place. Open air ice house with a good cold beer list and awesome burgers. We frequent this place all the time after a day of climbing. They have friendly staff, good food, and on occasion you can catch a live band here. They have an awesome veggie burger!! They will even pile it high with mushrooms and guac for you if you ask :) The burgers are the best (or so I'm told from my crew). And our table never goes without the fried pickles and jalapenos!! I absolutely loved the okra, burger, ring/fries combo and the wait service. My GF and I laughed when we both admitted that we would journey here just for the okra. It really is that good. The interior space is unique in that its design is a combination of a warehouse (with retractable, uplifting doors) and a finished farmhouse barn. I'll be back. read more

Why I haven't came sooner is the worst part about this place. I've been in Austin over 12 years and have drivin by at least a hundred times and have always wondered. Some of the best cover band tunes i've heard in Austin. Even tho, its not Austin right? Right, which is even better. The food is Ok, i mean, its bar food so who cares. The fried pork chops were horrible. Again, what do you expect? They have Queso. It wasn't the worst i've had and the Turkey mush mush mushroom burger was aight. The vibes were on for a saturday eve i will say. Lots of smiles and the staff wasn't even pissed. We have been to Angels many times over the years when visiting friends in Spicewood... The atmosphere is still great, service really friendly and efficient on a busy Sunday afternoon. But gosh, the burger I had was not worth $16. The Bocephus comes with bacon, which was good, but there was hardly any sauce, lettuce, jalapenos? Worst was the burger, a tiny, hard- cooked patty so small that it took up only half the bun. I hate giving bad reviews, but a burger to me is sacred and should be better. The menu doesn't mention how many ounces the patties are, so that tells you something. My wife enjoyed the shrimp tacos, shrimp was good and well grilled. read more

If you think this place is dog-friendly, think again. If the manager is truly upholding the owner's views, then this establishment has no right to call themselves a dog friendly restaurant. While eating dinner on the patio this evening, a new family arrived with two dogs causing a little bit of a stir between our two dogs at our table and another dog at a separate table nearby. Nothing out of the ordinary at a dog-popular restaurant, just a few dogs barking and communicating with one another. Within ONE MINUTE (not exaggerating here) of the minor barking commotion starting, I was approached by a manager who singled out my dog as the problem, when he was not the only one barking. She really did not give anyone a reasonable time to correct their dogs barking behavior or allow the issue to resolve itself, but instead proceeded to threaten me that my dog would have to leave. He was the only one left barking at that very moment (and again, this all had only been going on for literally just one minute). We had been peacefully enjoying our time there for about 40 minutes and we were almost done eating our dinner, but now all of a sudden we are an issue? The dog rules posted state, "dogs who bark incessantly or are showing any signs of aggression will be asked to leave". In no way was my dog, or any other dog in the entire restaurant, barking incessantly or nonstop. This manager was just downright impatient, irrationally jumped to conclusions and craved total control over all the dog's on the patio. After telling me that my dog needed to stop barking, the manager left but only to return to our section not even another minute later to stare me and my dog down. I was never given the chance to correct my dog, mostly because I felt threatened and harassed by this woman in those few short minutes. I take pride in my well-behaved canine citizen and I take my dog's training and behavior seriously. I am a very responsible, mindful dog owner and always do my best to consider those around me. Had my dog been barking uncontrollably, then I would have been first to admit the issue and apologize and would have done something to correct it, such as get up and walk my dog around a bit. But this was not the situation at all. So here's my suggestion to the owner on a solution: Have your managers take some extra time to examine the situation between all parties on the patio. There were no risks and no upset tables to my knowledge at this time. If you want to maintain your reputation as a dog-friendly restaurant, then train your manager to engage with a barking dog by maybe coming to say hi, give a pet, offer some water and generally distract the dog from what he is barking at, rather than try to "correct", threaten or shame the dog's owner. Trust me, you'll go much farther in customer satisfaction and customer service with this approach. I do not think anyone in our party will be returning here. Very unfortunate and disappointing experience. read more

I would say the food though is not as craveable as I would like but if it were then I'd have to give this place 7 stars. They have a great beer list, some wine, cocktails, lots of variety on the menu. This is just a great place to hang out. I ordered a chicken fried chicken sandwich & fries. The fries were soggy, mushy and gross. The sandwich came covered in sauce with tomato's, lettuce and onions. Nowhere on the menu does it mention any of that. When I called to speak to someone about it I got a rude girl who was argumentative. I explained to her that I ordered a chicken fried chicken sandwich and what I actually received. Was not that. I also told her that my receipt says "Buffalo bill" sandwich, thinking maybe it got mixed up. Nope!! She went on to say that the Buffalo Bill IS the chicken fried chicken sandwich. Again I said that nowhere on the menu do they mention putting anything on the sandwich and again she argued about it. I said "thank you" and hung up. We normally love Angel's. We bring the pup and the kids and sit outside by the playground and order our "normal's" off of the menu. Howeverrr most recently we sadly had a pretty crappy experience! From the moment we arrived we waited on a server for 20-30 minutes even though tables around us were being served the whole while. We finally got around to getting a server - Eric - and only had him come around twice the whole time we were sat (once for a single drink, no refills, and once to take our order). Also our server seemed to have forgot/misplaced something and let a cuss word slip in front of a 6 and 8 year old present at the table..?! We also had to catch another server to get our ticket when we were ready to leave. All-in-all rough experience, maybe we'll find the time to be back and allow some redemption. read more

If your idea of fried pickles is a gelatinous glob of sticky dough and rancid oil, thus is the restaurant for you.
