I have moved several times in the last five years and always used movers. I may not want (or even be able) to do it on my own, but I know what it should look like. And this was not it. I asked for two movers. I moved out of a 1 bedroom apartment and I didn't even take all of the furniture with me. Three movers showed up. I was worried they would charge me extra but they kept the two man rate. And rightly so because the third guy hardly did anything at all. As for the other two, one was a very hard worker and was busting his butt, but the second guy was much slower and did a lot of delegating to the first guy. It took them nearly 4 hours to get my already packed things loaded onto the truck. In addition to being slow, they also seemed to have no idea what they were doing. Most movers cover your furniture with blankets and wrap it up to protect it. These guys wrapped it in plastic wrap, if at all. I still don't understand how that's going to protect my desk if they drop it. And when it came to moving the couch, they acted like they'd never moved one before! They kept complaining about how heavy it was. I had to explain three times that it was a sleeper sofa and that they should probably take the cushions off before they move it. I've had the same couch for years, no other movers ever had any trouble with it. And to top it off, they were incredibly careless with all of my boxes. Even the ones labelled in big red marker as "FRAGILE!" and "GLASS/FRAGILE!!!!". Several of my boxes were crushed because they put the heaviest boxes on top of the lightest ones. I've never been so concerned for my belongings during a move. When it came to unloading the truck into the new place, they were just as slow! Only the one guy was actually trying to get my stuff in the right room in a timely manner. At hour 7 (for a 1 bedroom apartment's worth of belongings, mind you) I asked them if they were nearly done and when they would be wrapping up. It was really starting to worry me how slowly they were going, were they trying to price gouge me because it's an hourly rate? It sure seemed like it!! Once I asked this question, the two less helpful guys became incredibly rude towards me. (Again, the third guy was super nice and professional, and he was the only one actually working hard) It was just a very stressful, unprofessional experience. When I moved 1 year ago with the same stuff, 2 movers got the whole move done in less than 5 hours. And that included a 60 minute drive. This time, it took nearly 8 hours. And to top off the whole day, they broke part of my couch!!! And instead of telling me about it, they shoved the broken piece into the bottom of an open box and left it there for me to find. I did a search and came up with Ivan's Moving. From the beginning, Jessica was amazing! She set up a time with her movers for that evening, even though it was already 2pm on a Saturday, they agreed to come help me. She said that since they were in Los Angeles, it could be anytime from 6:30 - 7:30pm. The guys called me at 5pm, telling me that they would be there at 6:30. I was so appreciative that they let me know. They actually showed up 15 minutes earlier than they said. Because I had to rent the UHaul for the job, it allowed my daughters and I to make a few trips with the easy stuff, so all they had to do was the big items, which included my very heavy, 140 year old, upright piano. They took our beds and desks apart for us, then put them back together when we got to my new house. They even built and attached my new headboard that I had just purchased for my room. They were very professional and quick! I cannot say enough good things about their service and how helpful they were. My moving drama was changed to a positive day! Thank you so much!!!!!

The "owner", or at least that is who he claimed to be, was kind enough to wait and not charge us while we went and got a uhaul a day early. Within 20 minutes, he had asked 2 strangers, who were clearly on drugs, to assist him and his partner in removing our couch from our apartment. I asked the mover multiple times to please take care of our couches and wrap them. (we provided shrink wrap, 2 couch covers, uhaul furniture pads, and 17 rolls of tape.). When I went outside I see my couch being pushed from the second story to the first story of the building over the rail onto a dumpster with no padding what so ever. Then placed in the dirt. When I ran over I saw my couch covered in scratches and tears. When I confronted the "owner" he stated he did not do it and they were there. Thankfully we had taken photos of the couch because we were in the process of selling it and we showed him that those scratches, tears, and filth were not present prior to him moving it. He then blamed the 2 intoxicated gentleman who assisted him for ruining the couch. I informed him that they were not hired by me therefore if he asked them to help, then he is liable. We began arguing about the damage he has done to my $1600 couch and he refused to take responsibility and walked off the job leaving my furniture and belongs on 2 different stair cases and my couch in the dirt behind the apartment as well as leaving the dumpster 300 feet away from where it belonged. I called him to confront him about the damages and he refused to listen and or remedy the situation. When I called the company number, I left a voicemail and never received a call back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they will damage your belongings and not take responsibility and remedy the situation. I will be contacting the BBB about them.

I had to reschedule a couple of times and they were accommodating. The movers (Jimmy & Max) were so polite and such hard workers. They both had such positive attitudes and worked like they were paying for the move themselves. The cleaners were a bit late (maybe 30m or so), but I don't want to take off a star, because after seeing how they work, which is ending when the things you wanted cleaned are fully cleaned and not peace-ing out when the time commitment is over the time is more of an estimate than a hard-locked schedule. SWL is a newer company and have a smaller base of cleaners than other more established companies, so give 'em a break! John Doan and his team let me know that they could meet a 30-day closing and due mostly to preventable delays in-house, they were not able to meet the closing and I had to request an extension. Luckily, the seller agreed to an extension of the date that Equinox suggested. That date came around and I was still not able to close on my property and had to request a second extension. Again, it was a good thing that the seller was so understanding because at that point they could have walked away with my earnest money. I spoke to John Doan directly about the issues that I was facing and how I was unsatisfied about the service of his team and he told me he would look into it and get back to me. That was three weeks ago, so I am going to assume that he never looked into it and leave my review now. I have a friend who asked me about my recent purchase and was looking for recommendations to obtain financing on two properties, I will be telling him to go elsewhere than I did.
