Disgusting front door as you enter. The lower half was covered in a white dried liquid, and dried shiny grease. Who allows this? First impressions mean everything. Tried to overlook this, and all the dirty tables and gross drink station. Ordered a hot lobster roll. Mostly shreds of lobster. No nice pieces (none bigger than a m&m in size). But the worse part is how dry and rubbery the tiny shreds were. Nasty! This place seems more concerned with opening new locations and adding a bazillion more menu items, than they are about a solid guest experience or tasty food. They've lost their way and don't care. I've had lobster roll at of all places the airport in Charlotte so I was eager to try Angie's with a friend who had gone to another location but this one was close by. I have to say I was very disappointed. We ordered the lobster roll with extra lobster and lemon butter which were both additional charges. The roll itself was bland. The bread roll tasted like a regular hotdog bum. I also ordered a side of cod which was over cooked and extra crispy or should I say dry. And the fries tasted like they were cooked in old grease. I'm very surprised to see the abundance of 1 star reviews for this location, the food was amazing quality, quick to come out, and the staff was great! However, I think the area is what causes these reviews. In my time dining in, I witnessed (karen type) people complaining over so many small things. For instance, a lady was yelling at the staff for more half and half when the canister was not even empty, it was just closed! Moreover, her husband complained about the fries being "cold" after he let his order sit for about 10 minutes before grabbing it! I really like this place, the food is usually pretty good. I've had instances where my food was cold even after waiting but am halfway down the street when I realize it. I went recently and paid for two extra shrimp but didn't receive them which is disappointing because 1 shrimp is almost $2. My concern with this place is that they don't change their gloves. Like Angie's Prime Grill, there is no staff on the front side of the restaurant. When you walking you order at the kiosk and the cooks place your order on the shelves for you to pick up. Grab your own drink and condiments, and you never have a conversation with anyone. It's a little strange to not see any staff around at first, but that's how they keep the prices so low. There are some spray bottles and a sign saying to wipe your table when you're done, but it appears that almost nobody does. It looks like most people come in and clean the table before they sit. The food is really good here, and the prices are amazing! I get that they are keeping costs down by not having a counter, but the floors were dirty, they ask you to clean and sanitize your table when you're done eating, and the food was OK. I'm going to be the odd person out here with the review...I get that! Angie's seems to have a cult following and I know when we've seen the food truck out and about at events, the lines are long. This store just opened a few months ago in the old Wells Fargo bank building and we decided when the signs went up that we would give them a month or so to work out the kinks of a new place and then go give them a try. It was weird to walk into our old bank and see the transformation made. The restaurant was empty and it appears that they are still working on building the place out...adding some ordering kiosks per the sign on the wall. When we approached the window, we were immediately greeted and asked what we want. Explained it was our first time and we wanted a few minutes to check the menu out. Asked some questions and we both landed on the chilled lobster roll along with an order of fries. Our order was given to us within moments of ordering, which we both commented on. Can't believe how fast that was! We took everything home. They have a good size menu and apparently they are known for burgers as well??? Pictures describe our experience. So you open the butter and pour it over the sandwich and the sauce is for the fries but suppose you could also put it on the sandwich. The lobster was ok, moist and cooked well. The service is very slow and not friendly or apologetic after 1/2 hour wait just to order our meals. After that, it turns out that the food quality is (still) mediocre. I've tried the lobster rolls, cod sandwich, and most recently a chicken Caesar salad. The salad was completely overseasoned -the chicken, the croutons, and the salad dressing. It was too overwhelming with the flavor of garlic and other herbs. It also feels like everything they serve has extra grease or fat, and not just the fried items on the menu.
