After attending a concert at Gila Resort Wild Horse Pass, I was looking for a quick, late-night dinner. This Whataburger location is a few minutes away from the casino on the way back to Phoenix. Ambiance (N/A): I used the drive through to place my order. Service (4/5): While service wasn't a big part of the experience, the lady taking my order was friendly. She also asked if I wanted regular or spicy ketchup. My food was ready within a reasonable period of time. All in all, what you hope for when you're ordering fast food. Drinks (4.5/5): I spent four years in grad school in North Carolina so I'm a big fan of sweet tea. Whataburger has freshly brewed sweet tea. And even their medium size is a Texas-sized cup. That makes their beverage options a winner in my book. Food (4/5): I'm from Texas and Texans are big on Whataburger. It's nice that they have several locations in Phoenix. It reminds me of home. Some of my favorite items on the menu include the honey butter chicken biscuit (on the breakfast menu), the honey BBQ chicken strip sandwich, the chicken tenders basket with gravy, and really any of their burgers (pretty solid for fast food). This time around, I went with the avocado burger which is served on Texas toast. It's not everyday you find avocado on the menu at a fast food joint. The burger was above average (I came in with the proper expectations). What I really enjoyed is the fries which were fresh (rather than sitting under a heat lamp like you typically get at a fast food restaurant). With their homemade ketchup, it made for the perfect side. Whataburger by no means has the best burgers in town. Not even close. But if we're talking fast food joints overall, they're top five in my book (I may be a little biased ;)). read more

Every 4 or 5 years I have tried this location again, and every time I say I will not be back. Their beef tastes more like filler than ground beef, and my green chili burger only had green chili on less than half of the burger. This is a chain burger joint. Customer service can be hit or miss depending on staffing, volume, and age/experience of the staff. As a burger joint, this is one of the better places to go to. While on our travels to Arizona we choose to check out the WHATABURGER because so many people say "you have to check it out!" The food wasn't bad and the prices were reasonable. We asked the cashier Swar D what he recommended and one thing he mentioned was the Patty Melt which I decided to try with a Mex Hot Chocolate shake. My Texas friends insisted that I would love Whataburger. I don't know what I was expecting, but I thought it would be more along the lines of In n out since they are always being compared. To me, Whataburger seems closer to Burger King. There's no comparison to In n Out, which is superior by far. **experience during covid-19 ** due to the pandemic I'm currently doing a drive-through experience. This location is currently set up for 2 lanes whenever there's lots of traffic. They only utilized one lane for drivers even though there was a big rush. I consider it slow for average drive through times. What I do like is that I get to customize my burger to have bacon, cheese, jalapeños, and no onions. Every time I go to this location, there's a problem with my order. Today I ordered a pancake platter meal (this includes hash browns). I get home and there are no hash browns, no butter or syrup and no utensils. Oh man I love me some Whataburger. People love to take sides in the fast food burger wars but honestly why not be a happy glutton like me and just appreciate them all? We're so lucky in AZ to have a good variety of popular state-specific chains from all over the country, like Texas' Whataburger. The service and quality here at this location for me has always been good. One of my fave things about Whataburger are their yummy sauces. The creamy pepper SLAPS, jalepeno ranch is fire, and the spicy ketchup is always a must. Love the breakfast choices here too, the breakfast burritos are a tasty and great value. As a chronic night owl I appreciate that they're open 24 hours, and that there's always something on the big menu to satisfy whatever cravings. After paying and waiting, was handed 1 bag with the salad, fries and 1 burger. After looking through my bag, I turned back expecting to be handed another bag, but nothing. Then the person at the window said "What is it?", in a very rude, inconvenienced way. I said I'm still waiting on 4 burgers. They then handed me the bag that was sitting directly in front of them.
