We had the margherita pizza and eggplant pizza. The margherita isn't the typical ones that comes with fresh basil. Here they use pesto which was not what I liked. The pesto reminds me of Costco pesto and though I LOVE the sourdough crust it wasn't my favorite. The eggplant pizza was slightly sweet and blended well with the onions and dressing on top. First time here. It's a dark atmosphere with real wood fire oven. They have a trendy decor and cozy atmosphere. You can certainly have a nice conversation so the place is t loud. The pepperoni honey pizza is def the star of the show. It's perfectly sweet-salty balanced and full of different textures that got my senses confused (but in a good way!). The pepperoni is crispy but the honey rounds it out instead of turning it into a sugar bomb, it was rich but also balanced, somehow every bite was perfect. In contrast to some pizza places that go way too hard on the honey pizza trend. Simple combo, but done really well. I kept going back for "one more bite" until the pizza was gone. Many places in San Francisco to grab pizza in San Francisco. The Mission District has been a little behind in the past when it comes to pizza. Today the Mission District has lots of pizza offerings from pizza parlors expanding. There are some home grown Mission District ones like Pizzeria Delfina and Flour +Water. Then on 16th street just past Guerrero street the first Nizarrio Pizza was established and set the tone and foundation of the current Mission Pizza scene. On an Autumn stroll through my childhood neighborhood and block on 16th and Guerrero and just past Spencer alley ( iykyk) and before Dolores street there is one of the best pizza places in all San Francisco. At first I was skeptical because of the location ( so many stories). I entered Angie's Pizza and it was welcoming. This place was playing vintage battle rapper Sparky D ( use to battle Roxanne Shante) music which made this place stand out along with the ambience and the layout. I tried the Pepperoni pizza which had Garlic Chili Honey, and Basil. It wasn't too doughy and had the right amount of cheese and the pepperoni was crispy and delicious. The next pizza I tried was the Margherita which consisted of Mozzarella and Basil. The sauce was tasty and firewood pizza thin crust was the right texture and it wasn't too cheesy. Lastly I had the Toasted marshmallow ice cream which was one best ice creams I had in a while. Must plan a visit to Angie's on 16th street between Guerrero and Dolores street. This is a really cozy and unique spot in the Mission Dolores area, with a really unassuming exterior! They have a small food menu of apps, pizzas, and dessert, but each item seems thoughtfully crafted and prepared. We got the marinated cucumbers, the Date pizza, and cheesecake sundae to share and it came out to about $30pp. The pizza was the star of the show, with pops of sweetness from the dates and creaminess from the goat cheese that I was surprised I enjoyed so much! They were in a vodka sauce and very tender. Because of all the wonderful reviews, we ordered the pepperoni pizza with chili honey and that was delicious. I am not a person that likes honey on my pizza or at least I thought I wasn't but I decided to give it a try and it was fantastic and nothing at all like I expected it would be. Meaning it wasn't overly sweet. I think that the sweetness and the heat combined with the savoriness of the pepperoni, just balances everything out. I will say that the pizza is definitely on the smaller side but I think that the price is fair. A lot of places you go to the prices are closer to $30 so I think that you're still getting bang for your buck especially because visiting this restaurant with its ambience and charm makes it well worth it. FINALLY got to try this place! Have been wanting to for ages since it opened. We were able to get a res for 6 of us a day or two before. This is a quaint place. Def unassuming from the outside but with lots of character on the inside. Has like old school pizza/diner vibes but also like a cool modern but retro feel. Decent selection of non-cocktail drinks as well as home made ice cream highlight the menu. We ordered four pizzas - pepperoni, Brussels sprouts, margherita, and date. We also ordered the carrots, chicory and meatball appetizers. The carrots were solid, the meatballs were very good! My fav pizza by far was the pepperoni - they had mikes hot honey and the flavors were great. I will say sourdough crust is not my favorite but they do it very well. These pizzas are on the artisanal side, they are also thin and pretty small, the kind of pizza slice that leaves you feeling like you need more because you can finish it in a few bites. One of the best things we had though was the vanilla ice cream. So so good! Def recommend Service was also excellent, no complaints. I really enjoyed the garlic chili honey drizzled on the pepperoni pizza! I thought the eggplant pizza was just okay and not as flavorful, although my partner enjoyed it. Note that these pizzas are extra thin crust, so it's pretty easy to finish an entire pie per person. Overall, I had an above-average experience dining here. The only minor gripe is that the glasses of wine here are pricier than I would like at about $15 for a small-ish glass. Otherwise - I LOVED this place. Be prepared it is DARK in there, but we got used to it. We split the broccoli rabe pizza (SPICY) - added sausage and also had a salad. Adding the sausage to that pizza was a pro move - and it is the kind of sausage I like: de-cased, and in big juicy chunks. The crust is thin and crispy - really a quality pizza, and I will be back to try other flavors. Fun fact - our server embroidered an ode to the mint ice cream in a small piece of art near the front of the counter, look for it on the wall.
