I decided to give this spot a try one more time. This time we only went with 4 people, and it was not so busy. Service was great and so was food. The calamari here is very good, and man oh man the garlic flavored seafood boil was off the chain. The seafood was so fresh tasting!!! I'm glad I gave this place another try, if you like fresh seafood I would defiantly recommend. I would suggest going in small groups on holidays and during busy times. The only thing that i'm not a fan of is that they bring the food out as it's made so everyone may not get their food at the same time and that's why i'm going with 4 instead of 5 stars. Not too shabby at the angry crab. Celebrated my sons bday here, which was a small table of 6. My 5 year old daughter didn't want to eat anything off the menu, so I told her she could try some of my food since she wasn't that hungry. I had shared a crab broil for 2 with my son. Everything was fine, the broils were a tad expensive compared to the quantity, but that was expected. What I didn't expect, was our waitress added 18% gratuity to our tab! She knew damn well she didn't deserve an 18% tip since she hardly came around. Our drinks were left empty more than once and for quite sometime! She wasn't even the one who brought out the food! Plus my daughter didn't even eat! All she had was a soda and took a few shrimps off my portion! But since there was 6 of us, she decided to cash in. The day we came was on a Sunday and it was slow too! I find what she did to be really disgusting. Taking advantage is what she did, I should of asked to speak to a manager tbh. So I just wrote two less than stellar reviews for other AC locations based on their current social distancing/safety measures, buuuuuut this is my main location and I haven't gone during the pandemic so I can write a permanent, all encompassing review here on how much I love the food at Angry Crab. First off, you must get the trifecta sauce. It's the combo of garlic, Cajun, and the lemon pepper sauce. I like it mild or medium but be forewarned, the mild is kind of a medium and the medium is kind of a hot. If you're only into moderately spicy food, level down here. The sauce is so good though and what makes the whole experience though, and you won't be disappointed. My favorite thing here is the snow crab. I get it 100% of the time I get angry crab. I also love the lobster tails, shrimp, and corn. The bread is always worth it too. This is a fun and super messy experience. Great place to come with a friend, and a great place to take those people in your life that can't put their phones down because it's messy AF and you'll ruin your phone if you even try. If you have never experienced the Angry Crab, then you should, at least once! It is quite the experience. When ordering, there are a few decisions to make if you choose from the seafood market: 1. The type (I chose the Dungeness crab), 2. The sauce (I went for the trifecta--which is Kajun, lemon pepper and garlic), 3. The spicy level (wimpy, level 1 out of 5, which was just right), 4. Decide whether you are adding anything to your bag like corn (I did and am glad I did as the corn in the sauce was delicious), although whatever you add will cost additional money. I had a taste of the sausage from one of my dinner mates, and next time, I'd also add sausage and red potatoes. The cost of the seafood is all by the pound, and I was told that the Dungeness were 2 or 3 pounders, so I asked for a 2 pounder, which would be retrieved from the tank (I never did see the tank but meant to on the way out). After a few minutes, our waiter was back to tell me that although there had been five crab in the tank, someone else had just ordered all five! I really had my heart on Dungeness crab as it is actually in season right now, although if they are live in a tank, then they are always in season! After some time previewing the menu again, I chose the snow crab. Everyone's bags were delivered to the table except mine, and after several minutes, I told everyone to start to eat, which resulted in my sampling several bags until mine arrived. The spice level ramps up quickly, so be careful. I'm not a total wimp when it comes to spice but am glad that I chose the wimpy here! When I did receive my bag, the snow crab was good, but more veggies in that yummy sauce would be better. The fun part of this experience is eating with your hands, wearing the BIB (really, you have to wear it), and washing up in the trough sink. Leave your jewels in the safe, wear clothes that can be easily washed, and come for the experience. read more

Always a hit whenever I'm in town. I come here with some friends and PIG OUT. Now I'll tell you why I love it here so much... Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is lovely. It's not too fancy and it's not like a dump either. It's a giant open space with these huge fans hanging from the ceiling. There's light wood everywhere which they encourage you to autograph and leave a nice mark on. When eating the seafood boils things can get really messy so right on one of the walls there's a big sink/trough thingy where you can clean up after smashing your meal. Service: I can't remember who my server was the first couple of times I've been here, but Amanda, the bartender on my 3rd visit, stood out the most. Lol. She was funny, had quite the personality, talked trash to me and was just so much freaking fun to have. It felt like she was one of the gang just hanging out with us. Food: So the selling points of this restaurant are the seafood boils. You can choose one of 10 different types of seafood or 1 vegetable option that's all sold by the pound (mix and match of course). After that you choose one of 7 sauces (1 of them is a combination of 3), a level of spice (1-6) then you can add either sausage, mini corn on the cob, vegetables or red potatoes to the boil. So it comes out in the bag, you're given a bib and just told to rip the bag open to eat right all over the table! My favorites are the king crab and head-on shrimp (a little cheaper than head off) with the Trifecta sauce. It's so freaking delicious. I like a level 4 or 5 spice that leaves me s bit sweaty after eating. Lol. I've also come here for happy hour and tried out their wings. THESE WILL BRING ME BACK EVERY time. They're so good. So you order them and you get to sauce them with the same sauces you use for the seafood boil! And another thing... they're smoked! They aren't fried and I LOVE that. They were so good and spicy. Value: This place isn't cheap by any means, unless you come during happy hour! I mean, seafood is never cheap unless you're getting bottom of the barrel stuff, but that's not what they serve here. Remember the boil is sold by the pound. I've long forgotten the exact amounts I've paid for them, but I do have my happy hour receipts in front of me! For happy hour you get 5 wings for $5.00. From where I come from (Connecticut), that's considered a good deal! Lol. My shrimp cocktail was the same situation. 5 for $5.00, a GREAT deal. Oh, did I mention that wine was only $3.00 a glass?! Man, I wish these existed where I live! In conclusion I had to redo this review to showcase more of Angry Crab's greatness. First time eating at angry crab because my husband and I were visiting from CA. We came on a weekday dinner and were seated immediately. Miranda was our server (thank you!!!) who served us very promptly. We got a pound of shrimp head on with crispy tofu in the trifecta sauce (highly recommend). Shrimp was perfectly cooked. At some places, I would find overcooked shrimp or shrimp that was not as fresh. One thing to add is that I noticed they also cut off most of the rostrum (pointy part of the head of shrimp) which I appreciate. We decided to try the crispy tofu because why not? I've never seen it as a menu item in any other places like angry crab. They gave a generous amount for my husband and I to share and it soaked up the sauces. When I'm craving my snow crab legs this is my go to place. I usually get the trifecta sauce and I have tried both the level 2 and 3 (out of 5). Not going to lie, I like my spicy but level 3 was hot and like they said, there were times I could not feel my lips...but it still did not stop me for finishing my pound of snow crab legs . Nothing could stop me, I ate those legs up. I usually go by myself but I can see the perks to going with a group. Umm, more things to add to your bag and try. The service is pretty decent so not much complaints from me. I don't ask for much, serve me my crab legs, give me my drink. Let me eat in peace and refill my drinks when I'm low. Well this was fun !! Our party of eleven had a blast. I loved the concept- you get your choice of seafood (and be prepared to choose) because there's a lot to choose from. How about shrimp, crawfish, mussels, clams, salmon, lobster, and if you're feeling crabby there are four crab variations -snow, Dungeness, King, and Blue. But you aren't done choosing yet, because you have two big ones next. How about your sauce (bet you didn't see that one coming). Choose among Kajun, Lemon Pepper, Garlic, Trifecta (those three combined), Traditional Boil, Pacific Rim (coconut curry), and Sweet 'N Tangy. Last choice is your spice level on a 0-5 level, with 0 being "Me No Likey Spice" and 5 being "Scorching Scorpion -Order at Your Own Risk". I ordered Snow Crab with Pacific Rim spice and a Medium Spice Level 2 (Sizzlin'). I added on 4 sausage pieces for $2 and an ear of corn for a buck. They toss all of your ingredients in a bag and boil it, then deliver a heaping bag of goodness to your table. By the way, there are no dishes on the table- just use the table long butcher paper for your plates. I really loved my dinner! The snow crab, corn and sausage slices were delicious, the coconut curry sauce was great, and the 2 spice level was plenty for me. You do get pretty messy eating this way, so you'll get a lobster bib to look silly in, and there's a big communal sink in the dining room for cleaning up your sloppy self. Nothing fancy at the Angry Crab -it's a big open dining room and very casual. Lots of TVs showing sports, lots of friendly servers, and a big bar in the middle of the room. If it's your birthday, they blare a really loud siren and yell out Happy Birthday. If seafood ain't your bag, they sell burgers, and dinner plates, and BBQ choices. JUST GO!! I had a 7hr layover at PHX airport and was in the search for seafood on Yelp & WALA this wonderful place appeared. Angry Crab used to so good! Now, the menu is not the same (sub par at best). The shrimp was rubbery and there was no sauce in the bag. The fish and chips came out burnt and we had to remind the server of the veggies that were supposed to be in our order. We wish they would go back to the old menu. Not sure what happened but this isn't the Angry Crab we usually love and expect. Placed an order to go 2 months ago that was $80 and fairly inedible. I submitted two inquiry's through the online ordering system- where it asks if there were issues with your order- and have received no response at all. No emails. No calls. The shrimp was over cooked and extremely tough and the claims couldn't be chewed- 4 people at our house tried and no one was successful. They barely pulled out of the shell but not a single one could be eaten. Very disappointed- we patron angry crab every few months but the food has never been this bad. read more

Onion rings have an excellent breading and were not a pocket of lava when bitten into. Peeled shrimp made eating a ton easier and spice level mild was perfect. Really like that bibs and mitts are provided. Walls are covered with customer graffiti which is fun and visually intriguing. The tables and floor were clean, but the bathrooms could've been in better shape. Restaurant temperature was just right. Will definitely be back, and perhaps try a non-boil-bag entree. First... I'm from Louisiana. And I'm giving a 5 star rating. If you've never had a traditional seafood boil FROM Louisiana, what's served here and traditionally are NOT the same. Secondly- the oil/seasoning thing is popping up all over in newly established seafood restaurants in southern Louisiana (not sure elsewhere). I can't and will not complain about the "oil" as I have seen others do, because this is where the flavor of the bag will be from. I had trifecta, mild, and it really had good flavor and was a good choice from reading the other reviews. The "charred oysters" - shocked at how much flavor and how well they were cooked. As for the texture - ask for them a little more on the cooked side of you don't like "mushy" textures. The service was good and the atmosphere is really cool. Heard them announce 2 birthdays while there, which had everyone cheering for them. read more

Shockingly good food.. closest thing to feeling like I was home in MS since I've moved to AZ- not because of the atmosphere, deducted a star for that, but for the flavor they're able to execute across all the dishes we tried. I can't wait to come back on a cooler day just for the gumbo and hush puppies.. the hush puppies were cooked perfectly- usually people dry them out by over cooking but these were nice and moist in the center and paired with a creamy ranch that was incredible. Gumbo was just like what you'd get at a restaurant in New Orleans by people who know how to cook creole food. Lastly, I usually find seafood pretty bland. I told Yelp I was hungry and was steered to a local spot called Angry Crab Shack. I sat at the bar and ordered twin lobster rolls. Taylor let me know they were cold rolls with hot butter -no problem! The butter was watered down and unflavored to go with my lobster rolls so completely covered with spices I was picking it off my tongue. Came here with family on the weekend. We all ordered the shrimp with trifecta and medium. The trifecta sauce was not as good as I remember it to be. It was very salty and plain. We ended up staying longer talking and having a good time after we had paid our bill and I made sure to look that our waiter didn't have all his sections booked and we were taking up a seat. There was no one else coming in at that time, but the waiter kept making faces when we would try to help him clean up, etc. after we were staying when the check had been paid. My First bad review ever: The service here is so awful!!!!! Very good service! Derek was very attentive & quick! But the price I feel like, too expensive but it's worth it because it's good food!! The scent/sauce for Trifecta was too strong haha and way too much garlic was put in there. Maybe lesser garlic for trifecta next time (I'd recommend). We loved it! We had 4 lbs of seafood overall. We had the Snow Crab, Mussels and Clams. Also, some corn on the sob and potatoe. We got really full & the high bill was worth it anyway hahaha. Totally coming back again! read more

My first but definitely not my last visit..... This place stays packed and always draws a crowd. They seat you quickly and the staff promptly takes your order. The menu is an excitement of sauces and rubs to custom create your wings. On this visit I had the cod basket and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered some Texas Toast to make it into a sandwich. Did I say it was DELICIOUS?!! I don't think I left anything in that basket. LoL It also has bar seating, outdoor seating, and several TV's that are perfect for sports gatherings. First time. Been wondering when I would decide to take on this concept...!! Today's the day! Arrived to very enthusiastic hostess. Sat and ordered some happy hour drinks. ( just in the Knick of time!!). Loved our server Miranda. Very attentive and explained the ordering process to us newbies. We ordered charred oysters and raw oysters. ( raw showed up frozen... which leads me to believe that they shuck then and put them on the platters with ice and they refrigerate them. ) that I didn't appreciate. They made it right and brought out some fresh. Ordered the breaded scallops and king crab and shrimp and sausage and corn. Everything very good. They provide all the tools and gloves and bibs. I wouldn't get the king crab again.. as it was so hard to open /crack the shells. Too much work. The shrimp( no heads) were great!! Easy to peel and very tasty. Did the top 3 spices. Last night, I was craving crab legs and since Friday was pay day, I decided to treat myself to some Angry Crab. For those who have never been - it's easily a $130+ date night (maybe less without drinks), but they really have something for all the seafood lovers and it's absolutely worth the splurge. The real attraction is the bag boils which are customizable a limitless number of ways - king crab, snow crab, crawfish, mussels, shrimp (head on or off), etc, plus sausage, potatoes, corn, bread for dipping...I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it. My date is all about the crab legs so we got 3lbs of snow crab (tbh, not sure it was really 3 lbs compared to what I've bought at the local Fry's, but I digress), and added a few potatoes and some corn. We ordered the "bread for sopping" on the side. Now when it comes to the sauces, trifecta is the way to go - it's buttery, garlicky, and just the right amount of spicy IF you know what you're getting into. Based on a previous order at a similar place in California, we opted for mild, but when my date asked the waiter if that "had any spice," he said "a little" and so he got a side of medium just in case. The bread arrived first and he takes a chunk of this stuff (which was addictive and perfectly textured) and dips into the medium sauce and pops it in his mouth - note that this is someone who enjoys spicy and adds chili oil and sriracha to chicken soup - and he said it was too spicy. The flavor was good enough to have a few more bites but the heat was STRONG. I tried it and my lips were burning (thankfully, the mai tai's took care of that). So just a word of caution - you may hate yourself later if you get anything more spicy than medium. When the crab arrived in its bag, it was so good - buttery and juicy and easy to crack - I ate until I was stuffed in a way that you can you only be from seafood and just when I thought I had no more room, I used the remaining bread on the sauce and juices in the bag. I highly recommend for a date night or a night with friends. read more
