Let's start off with the lack of comfort. This is the second visit in the last few months where the air conditioning has not been cooling properly! Now for the food. We ordered the calamari and it was tough, over breaded and overcooked! The catfish was rubbery and the fried oysters were overdone! Another great experience! Service tonight was excellent -- the lady behind the bar was exceptional. She offered a great recommendation on the sauce, and I'm glad I took her advice. I grabbed a seat at the bar and went for 2 pounds of crawfish, trifecta Ghost Pepper Hot -- that smoky heat really hits just right. Added hb egg n corn. Firstly the food here is delicious, the reason for my 3 stars review is they are SO CHEAP with the shrimp. This bowl was $16 and they only put 6 small shrimp- look at the HUGE thing of sauce they give, like for what!? You didn't even put 1/2 lb. You'd be WAYYY better off getting 1 lb of peel and eat shrimp and just doing it that way. Now I know for future, it all tasted delicious, I'm just still hungry- such a little amount of shrimp. I've been to this ACS multiple times over the years so I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed it until now, but better late than never! It wasn't until recently that my eleven year old daughter started asking to try a "seafood boil" after seeing them trending on social media. I told her I knew just the place and we headed here for a mom/daughter date. Little did I realize what an expensive date it would be! She went for the Shack Trio and I had the Shrimp Crab Combo. We both enjoyed so much that when she asked to go back a few weeks later, I was in! My brother joined us on the next visit and it was a success once again. Service was better on our second visit but very slow and not very attentive the first time. It's pricey but it's a super fun experience - especially for seafood lovers. Fried fish is my favorite and I was pleased to try Angry Crab Shack for the first time while in Arizona. I ordered online, the price was reasonable and the staff were friendly. Plenty of outside and indoor seating. Family friendly. The meal itself was delicious. Catfish tasted fresh and not slimy. The highlight was the sauce, I believe I had the Cajun mayo sauce. Popped in on a Saturday afternoon and was seated right away for a table of one. Service was prompt from the front door to my server Nita. I tried the lemon blossom drink which was sweet and flavorful just how I like my drinks. Main choice was the king crab and I added 1/2 lb shrimp without the head, 1 sausage. 2 eggs, 2 corn and 3 potatoes. Went for lunch with my girls and we had a positive experience overall. Love that they have a lunch option for the crab and shrimp boil. The flavors were on point, I ordered the trifecta hot, perfect if you like spice. I used to come here all the time and order a pound of clams, garlic sauce medium. Last year was probably the last time this place was good. I have no idea what happened 2026 but I can't eat here anymore. The calamari isn't crispy it is soggy, the clams (maybe other fish is good but I can't have the other fish) were chewier with knots which needed to be spit out. The service is great, but their food just has been going down hill, the server himself was even honest with me when I asked about the cold noodles, saying "those aren't good". I believe him because even the side of rice tasted over cooked. Never had this problem before, but then again I haven't seen the same employees as last year.... I went to Angry Crab yesterday and had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I used to come here often with my son, but after this visit, I'll never go back. We usually sit in a booth, but even though several were available, they wouldn't let us -- I had to sit in the middle of the section. I ordered the gumbo, which was not good at all. I also ordered oysters, but never received them because the waiter forgot to include them. My son's lemonade had a strange aftertaste. For my meal, I ordered the Queen Crab, scallops, lobster tails, an egg, and two red potatoes. The crab had an odd ammonia-like taste, the egg was dry and unpleasant, and instead of the red potatoes I ordered, they brought me corn. The scallops were just okay. Overall, the food was over-seasoned, dry, and unevenly cooked -- there were just clumps of seasoning all over. The staff did offer to replace my Queen Crab, and the second batch was slightly better, but still overcooked and hard in some areas. I also told the waiter about the missing oysters and the wrong sides, but he brought me yet another corn instead of the potatoes I asked for. A manager did come by earlier to check in and tried to help me charge my phone, which I appreciated, but the overall experience was still terrible. I was craving a seafood boil for my birthday so we walked to Angry Crab for lunch today. They have a nice $15 lunch special that included 1/2 lb of crab legs; 1/2 lb of shrimp; a potato and a small ear of corn. It was the perfect size lunch for me (plus a lot of extra shrimp to take home). It's messy but it's yummy. They weren't busy at all today- service was excellent and everything was piping hot and the right spice level. They did bring me cake and ice cream and sang (really loudly) for my bday. Fun! Started with hushpuppies- they were perfect! I got a cocktail that is similar to a pina colada, the taste was very similar but not creamy. For dinner I got the shrimp and crab combo with the trifecta sauce, spice level angry ghost (4/6). I was not really concerned that it would be extremely spicy because I never find extreme spice at most restaurants, but let me tell you this was spicy! A bit too much to properly enjoy. I think if I had gone with 2/6 or 3/6 spice it would have been better, but the sauce itself was great. Also got a side of red beans and rice, they were good but not great. No sausage. Husband got charred oysters, he said they were okay, and fried catfish, which was excellent! We had to get some hush puppies and "soppin' bread" to go, they were so good. So I know most people come here for the boiling in the bag but as I'm still recovering from my procedure I cannot have that cuz it's just too much and the oils and all the other junk they put in with the crustacean is not good for me. So I went with the grilled shrimp dinner with just vegetables for $16. I was shocked to see that they only gave me five grilled shrimp. That's $3 per shrimp. How much shrimp can we all get at Fry's or a supermarket for seven bucks. Can you say major ripoff. The vegetables weren't even fully cooked and were not comfortable going down. The service was fine and the atmosphere was really loud and full of a lot of kids. So I can handle a portion of a boil and a bag again minus all the junk this is definitely off of my radar and they should at least be reasonable and giving you a decent amount of shrimp. Nothing was too chewy and the shells peeled off so easily. The corn absorbing the Cajun sauce was delicious! So juicy and soft! This was the first seafood boil restaurant I've been to where I couldn't finish everything. The only negative thing was that the potatoes were undercooked; I ended up not eating my two pieces. There were a fair number of flies inside the restaurant, and the music was (for me) too loud to allow easy conversation. I loved this place! I was visiting the Phoenix area with my cousins for a girls weekend and we really wanted to dig into pots of seafood. We explored yelp for a couple different options and decided the Angry Crab met the parameters of what we were looking for, both in experience and food. We wanted to be able to order a variety of crab, shrimp, lobster, etc. and Angry Crab offers it all. The seafood here is delicious. It's expensive once you get going, but for an "every once in awhile meal" it was worth it. For me, the snow crab and shrimp were by far the most delicious of our meal. Plan to get messy. Really really messy. They have a trough in the back of the restaurant to wash up and don't hesitate to recalibrate and ask for new gloves halfway through. Our server checked in on us regularly and was really helpful in bringing out supplies as we needed them and emptying our bucket of waste as it filled up. She also helped get the lobster out of the shell and with breaking up some of the crab too. Unfortunately this location just isn't it. The past three times I have come the food has been overcooked, orders wrong, and attitude given when it's been brought to attention. I'm giving two stars as opposed to one only because the manager Timothy and our server were very kind after the kitchen manager was not. This is the closest location to where I live but I will have to travel to a different location when I want angry crab. Also a side note - the floors were very sticky this past time. The theme was nicely executed, complemented by a very nice-looking menu. The menu impressed with a variety of great items. Ben's recommendations were spot-on -- the gumbo was superb, and the catfish basket (glad I listened) along with the fried shrimp were delicious. Angry Crab Shack resembles the Boiling Crab in L.A., but the unique touch is allowing patrons to sign their names on the wall, a cool way to leave your mark. This is an updated review. Missing item once again. Used to order from here a lot but haven't ordering much since they messed up my order so many times in the past. I was craving some clams so I ordered clams, mussels and of course. Most of add on items are missing again. No way to opt for re- delivery of missing item. Reached out to the store and the response and customer service staff didn't really care for the mistake. Clams are also poor quality, half of the clams were closed shut. They were attached to the shell, very difficult and some were impossible to detach from the shells. Waste of $45 should have known better. Don't recommend this place at all. read more
