Lunchtime bartender was super welcoming and attentive. Type of bartender to walk by and lift your can to see if you need a refill or not . I appreciate that . I decided to try their super hot wings. Wings were cooked perfectly . Wings are a tad on the small size but very good quality. The super hot sauce was delicious. For any experienced hot wing eater these were perfect. Angry Dog was a mixed bag. We came here on a wing recommendation and at least one person in our group demolished the wings. Others thought they were merely average. Wife ordered the Angry Dog and it was more than she bargained for. There's no eating this dog with your fingers -- knife and fork required. I ordered a cheeseburger and was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the meat and how spot on it was cooked. Not quite worth $13 (with cheese) but definitely hit the spot. The fries were ok. A definite must try in the Deep Ellum Area. When you walk in, it has a clear bar vibe but the food is infinitely better than typical bar food. They offer over 100 different bottled beers (both domestic and imported) with more than 20 on tap. I came in with a larger group and we didn't have any trouble getting seated. Our food was at our table 15-20 minutes after ordering. The food is probably best served fresh, I'm not sure about to-go but I'd love to return and order again. A lot of the food was so massive that it necessitated the use of knife and fork. Definitely would recommend the Angry Dog and Chicken Fried Steak. Grifter's Queso ($9.95) Angry Dog's original queso, with ground beef, with sour cream, guacamole & salsa on the side. Kind of basic, I would skip this appetizer but definitely shareable. I have a rule when driving in front of Angry Dog. If there is a parking space open in front, it's the sign I MUST go in. My parking spot was open so I zipped into the space, ignored a pan handler telling me how hard times were for him and popped in the door. The sound and aroma of Angry Dog hit me hard and up to the bar I went. The smell of cheese, nachos, burgers, fries and beer had me licking my lips. As I sat down at the bar, pining for a beer as I looked at the cooler filled with the higher end imports, Bud Light came out of my mouth when the bar tender asked what I wanted. Once he slid that cold and frothy beer in front of me, he offered me a taste of one of the recently added specialty local beers they had on tap. It was a wheat-ish white and I'll stick with the Bud Light. As he grabbed for a menu, I told him it wouldn't be needed as I knew what I wanted, needed and craved. I order the Angry Dog. In no time the plate was put in front of me and I was sawing into it. One does not eat this gooey, cheesy, chili covered, steaming dog without at least a fork. A knife makes it easier. The flavors melded together with the spices and beer to create that perfect taste. The combination of temperature, pepper and cold beer just made magical flavors appear. I had to slow myself down as otherwise, I would want another. The Angry Dog is a great place to meet people, have a few, watch the game (or in my case, watch 3 games) and take home. I've taken more dogs and burgers home than I could count and all never lose any of the magic as they are packed so well! The crowd was a mix of ages and professions and usually is. Great food and cold beer is the attraction. The beer selection is very good and the menu offers healthy items as well as those that keep cardiologists busy. The service is always top notch. I also ordered a side of Super Hot sauce that was also amazing! Spicy hit at first but doesn't stay in your mouth so it's enjoyable! For my entre I got a regular burger cooked medium well which was delicious! The meat was a good size and the buns tasted pretty sweet! I felt really comfortable there. In Canada it is Fries with Cheese Curds and Brown Gravy. At the Angry Dog HECTOR's Poutine is where North meets South(west) with their take on The Canadian classic. Fries, Cheddar cheese, chorizo and jalapeño gravy. I knew it wasn't going to be as good as what I had in Canada, and I was correct. It was WAY BETTER! As I said it is an extensive menu and the BEER menu is just as diverse with 4 pages of Local and other Beer offerings. Kathryn was our server and the Service was outta of this world. She is full of suggestions if you need them and is very real and personal in her presentation. We were told to go in the back so we went to the back to find tables we could put together and have more room. There was only our party and two other people. One of our guests noted that there were only two people at a table of 8 so why couldn't we put tables together to equal 8. The employee became extremely aggressive and told us we could either deal with it or leave. He looked every one of us in the eye when telling us we could leave.
