Tried the angry dog hotdog... not impressed :/ Just slather a hotdog with regular ol chili and some cheddar cheese? I was expecting something more imaginative to be their namesake dog... but meh. I should have gotten a burger or something, sounds like that would have been a better bet. Service was also pretty lame, our waiter took our orders then we never saw him again for the rest of the night, was just off chatting away at another table. read more

We were looking for some great late night eats and looked to yelp for a recommendation and man did you all pull thru! I read all the reviews and the bigger was the most entitled item. So I ordered The Burger with grilled onions and American cheese with a side of fries. This burger was so much more then I thought. Cooked exactly as I requested, it was juicy and not too greasy but still had enough moister to help all the favors marry! The French fries are yummy but the onion rings my friend ordered where a standout..super crunchy and NOT sweet. The service was good and bonus seems like this is the choice of all the local cops to eat at. I'm not mad at that at all!! I never give a 5 star on my first visit but I will return and give the star after I try the hotdogs! Check this place after a good night out..it will not disappoint. read more

For those of you "bad-mouthing" the Dog....this is for you. The Angry Dog is NOT just a burger joint. In fact......their burgers remind me of over-sized McDonalds burgers. HOWEVER the hotdogs are the "you know what" and might just give you a case of the "you know whats" if paired with about three or four hard apple ciders (FYI.....this was the place a bunch of us started out our night whilst hob-knobbing with the homeless that now frequent Deep Ellum). I cannot say enough good things about their dawgs! Loaded with chili, cheese, and in my case mayo.........OH GAWD!! Now I am super-hungry for a hotdog and they are currently closed. Gee Thanks Alot!! They have great tea! Anyway, every time I have come here.. be it busy or slow.. my food has always come out so very quick! The first time I came to this place, it was with a group of about 10 people. The food is amazing. I recently moved to the area and have eaten here twice in a month. The first time I got the Angry Dog. That was the best hot dog I have had in a long time. This last time, I got the mom's grilled cheese with bacon and avocado. (Studies show bacon makes you live longer, right?) My brother got the chicken fried steak with a salad and fries. I love their seasoning for the fries as well. Some combo of paprika, garlic salt, and onion powder. Yum. And they have some of the best bacon in the area. I had to take most of my food home because the services are pretty big. My brother thought he would have to as well, but he devoured the entire thing. Definitely one of my favorite places in Deep Ellum. And the bartenders are awesome. I don't think, during any of my visits, that my drink was ever able to get empty. They are on it! read more

Super laid back bar and restaurant. Lot's of room and super friendly staff. This was my first time here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waiter was super helpful pointing out several items on the menu, and things to order and what not to order. The only thing that was concerning was parking. I ordered the burger, which as delicious. The fried pickles were also good. My bf and his friend ordered the angry dog, and said it was ok. Went in with family from out of town and they love it, the dive bar feel with great food. We had the fried pickles and a double burger with fries. Went here the other night to see Deep Ellum crowds are surprisingly picking up again. This place is a great lunch or dinner place. The chips and queso (salsa comes free too when you order queso and is good to mix with queso) are really good. The burger is defintely one of the best in Dallas IMO. read more

The Angry Dog has been doing high-end bar food (quality, not froofiness) in a casual environment since before it was trendy. Burgers, dogs, chicken sandwiches and a good selection of local beers to wash it down. Good place to recover on a Sunday with the hair of the dog and football on the TV. read more

Ahh, The Dog. Are you looking for a great burger? Look no further. Here's why this place is a great burger joint. Everything about their burgers is done right. Large patty, crispy grill marks yet tender on the inside. A sign of a good burger joint is what you can add to the burger, and you can add alot from wing sauce, to grilled mushrooms, to avocado. Here's the kicker, their bacon rocks! Thick and well done, no grease and serious crunch. Also, they had red and green grilled jalapenos.. Now for the French Fries, thick and perfectly made again with little grease action going. These are the long crunchy kind, not the weak little guys you get at inferior places (LOL). The Place- nice balance of a dive bar and restaurant. Dark with TVs and lots of beers to choice from. Bathroom's give eye candy posters for both the guys and the girls (A girl I was with pointed out all the George Clooney postes in the stall). Overall, one of the last frontiers to eat in Deep Ellum. I've logged a lot of hours in this place. For the last 16 years. And I'm not that old! I always order the chicken spiedies and add monterey jack cheese. Yum. It's chunks of deskewered chicken on a soft, bready roll type thing. I love their fries, especially with a good dose of the mixed spices that hang out on your table (or at your spot at the bar) in a shaker by the salt and pepper. The iced tea, which I believe is some sort of proprietary cherry blend, is tasty, fresh, and plentiful. Yes, I judge restaurants by this. Very good bar food. Me and my wife split a burger w/ guacamole, bacon, and grilled onions and one "the works" sandwich(a monstrosity toting ham, chicken fried steak, and hotdogs). I visited Angry Dog for lunch last week with a friend and it was delicious. We arrived around 10 minutes before noon on a Thursday and had no trouble securing a table. I was torn between the burger and the dog, and I ended up opting for the angry dog. I felt like an animal tearing into this loaded chili dog! The bad: HORRIBLE service. Servers seemed frazzled, looked like there are only 2 servers on the floor. Full house for the most part. I'm not even sure who our server was. We had two different people taking drink and food orders as well as bringing out the food and the check. So confused. Wings were absolutely tiny. Never have I seen such small wings. Disappointing. Also, the sauce had way too much vinegar in it. Hardly spicy, even for a wimpy palate like mine. The good: Food was alright. The menu clearly showcases all the awards this place has received, causing me to get pumped up for a great food experience... I could have never have been more wrong. Here is a walkthrough of our experience: My party of 4 walks in on a Thursday night. We see a sign that says "please seat yourself." Okay. We did. After receiving menus and silverware, we are asked to get up and find another table, as they need to set up for a party of 11. That's fair. I've worked in the restaurant business a few times. I know how it gets, but still. So we get up and move to an even more cramped table, the only available one in sight, right where the walkway is. Great. We sit down, the guy takes roughly 5 min to get our drink order and is short with us. Alright. You're busy. We get it. Another 10 minutes goes by and we are greeted by a female server this time. Our order is finally taken. We then wait 15 minutes or so for my dining companions' wings to come out. I still don't know how those won so many awards. Another 10 minutes comes by and our food is here, brought out by the first server. Two people at my table then order 2 beers. These don't come out until our meal is almost finished, at which point we had already gotten impatient and asked for the checks. Their beers finally come out nearing the end of our meals. We wait for our checks for another 10 minutes. Bottom line: okay food, really crappy service. I don't know if I'd ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

I will start this off by saying the food was good.However, the service was the worst I have ever experienced. The server was rude and gave our entire table a terrible attitude when we asked for more condiments. Exact quote: "I'm not done with you yet. I will get your mustard." In addition there were absurdly drunk women sitting beside our table, who physically ran into our table and those sitting in chairs at the table. The servers sat by and watched these ladies try to instigate a drunken argument with us. Overall, I would never return to this place. Food- average. I had never heard of this place before today. The table seating is to tight for my comfort. The wait staff was very friendly and the service was good. The food was prepared in record time, I had the Club sandwich with Pasta salad. Very good. The Mimosa was not very good but served in a big water glass. Ah, the Angry Dog. I've been there many times and the food is always great, and I recommend either the burger or the Angry Dog. Both are very large portion-wise and I usually miserably full afterwards. The food is great....however the tables are set up close and you feel cramped, but that's how they pack them in and it's always busy. They have a varied selection of draft beers which is nice, but I think $3.25 for a draft Bud Light is a little much. However, I do like the place and will be back again. read more
