I decided to go with 1st Ave because they were very responsive on the phone and email, and they were able to do the work faster than GS. I also really liked that the people at 1st Ave weren't pushy like at they were at some of the other companies. They came though with all they promised to do - called me when they were on the way to the job site, installed everything so all cabinets and drawers lined up and worked flawlessly, cut the quartz offsite and came back to install countertops, and cleaned up after themselves. I have been recommending them to friends and neighbours, and I would most definitely use them again.

Despite being very clear that I would not need my plumbing fixtures until mid-December, I've been hounded to take delivery weeks in advance. I even added more product to my order in attempts to get more time. There's zero flexibility or understanding, even though this was discussed with the sales rep Wil up front. To make matters worse, their communication on appliance purchases has been painfully slow -- a few weeks, to get even basic appointment schedule. I ended up going elsewhere and I am so glad I did. For a company positioned as a premium home supplier, their responsiveness and customer service have been anything but. The showroom is nice and their products are solid, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. But the lack of professionalism, pushy delivery policies, and poor follow-through have made me regret choosing them for this project. I'll be looking elsewhere next time.

I was curious about the Fiestaware colors they carried (if they had pre-86 Rose) since they appeared to carry retired items as well but didn't especially want to linger in the space. We then talked to Janine at Best where we originally bought the fixture. She went to bat for us with the manufacturer and the replacement head was soon on its way. Beau is the best contractor we have ever worked with, bar none.  His attention to detail and his…read moreeye for design are both impeccable, and there is nothing we wouldn't trust him with.  He communicated clearly, kept us incredibly well-informed about the scope and timing of the project, and did everything he said he would, completing the project pretty much exactly when he expected to be finished, and on budget.  He gave us great advice throughout the process - including recommending when to order certain items, an impressive feat given the current global supply chain issues - in a way that was completely respectful and never pushy.  Our kitchen is now our favorite room in the house. A bit of background on our project: Beau dragged our kitchen from the 70s - no range vent, Formica countertops that buckled with the slightest pressure, cupboard doors that didn't fully close, to name a few issues - into the modern era.  This was a complete demolition, down to the studs, and rebuild.  Along the way, he removed an old chimney that ran from our basement, through the first floor, and into the attic; upgraded our hot water heater, and most of our old, galvanized plumbing; updated our electrical panel and removed a lot of knob-and-tube wiring; and widened our back door.  He had a clear understanding of what he could and could not do, and, for the latter, he had subcontractors lined up and ready to do the work.  Beau, his crew, and the subcontractors I interacted with, were all extremely pleasant, polite, helpful, and fun.  They were very nice to (and tolerant of) our pets, and did everything they could to make the process as unintrusive as possible.  They went above and beyond in so many ways, it's impossible to remember them all.  At the end of the project, the work was done as expected, was top-notch, and as much as we were glad to have the kitchen back, it was sad to see them go.
