    Banana's foster banana bread
    Leah G.

We took a day trip to Bastrop to explore, and stopped here. Boy are we glad we did. While we didn't have lunch, we picked up multiple desserts to go, including the Banana's Foster Banana Bread, a fresh peach blondie, and a pecan pie blondie. The owner greeted us as soon as we came in, and explained the menu as well as the selection of soaps, fragrances, and candles. He shared that he was inspired by different aspects of his life in North Carolina prior to coming here to Texas, and we really enjoyed the scents! He was so kind, joked around, and had an awesome Mary Berry t-shirt. The baked goods were next level. I have never had a blondie as good as the ones from here. The peaches for the peach blondie came from local farmers, and were treated with the respect they deserved in a wonderful baked good. The banana bread was like a cross between banana nut bread and rum cake, and 100% delicious. This place is amazing, please go check it out! The vibe was cozy and casual, with ordering at the counter and food delivered to you.

Hubby looked up something new for lunch and stumbled across The Bearded Baking Company. Went in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by our food. I ordered the Lloyd's BLT, probably the best BLT I've ever had. Hubby got the BYO-Burger and praised its deliciousness. Cookies for dessert, none can go wrong. They were sweet enough to give samples of the chicken salad which I should have ordered and the egg salad which hubby said he'd order in the future. 10/10 recommend!!! Get out here Peps!

I love the theme! OMG the muffins are soooo good they're perfect like sweet and savory strawberry almond something idk they taste like they came out of heavens oven. The bakery is fully on theme! The proprietors are so nice and it's family owned they are so sweet! They're going to drop off pastries for me at our office! Soon we will be a block away. I will have to try everything! They have brownie bars and blondies and muffins and croissants- I hope they have donuts and cakes and cookies rice crispy treats and cupcakes in the future! Super nice folks, I wonder if they do coffee too? Was a quick stop in but totally adorable spot! I was in such a rush - I should've paid and tipped extra for the added effort to drop off the assorted pastry box. I hope they add a menu item for like 6 assorted box or a 12 assorted box. I feel like they could even expand to offer wholesale to local spots. I want to try their breakfast items. The chocolate almond crossaint was warm and ooey gooey in the middle I've never had a crossaint that was gooey in the middle - they're usually light and airy but honestly I did not mind at all! These pastries are hardy! One of these crossaint can definitely feed two! It was super clean inside too I really appreciate that because baking can be so messy.

Had brunch and took some sweet treat to go. Everyone was so kind. Explained things on the menu, gave suggestions on what to order followed by them coming to the table asking how the food was! Such a wonderful brunch! I will be going back next time I'm in the area. I had the Grizzly with a side of gravy and my niece had the French toast. The Food was DELICIOUS! The chocolate chip cookies are amazing! This is a hidden gem!

If you're in Bastrop, this is the place to stop. My husband and I were driving through and stopped for lunch. Everything on the plate was exceptional. I can't express how much I enjoyed it. The flavors are fresh and original. I don't know anyone who puts red pepper in coleslaw, but they absolutely should. The owner is friendly, the restaurant is clean, staff is responsive and knowledgeable. We took baked goods to go!

Amazing food and amazing service. If you want real home cooked food, with a "southern comfort" flare, try The Bearded Baking Company, you won't be disappointed. The Dudley's "Poutine" is a fresh version of the traditional poutine, but is distinguished by the contrasting sweetness of the spicy ketchup with the tanginess of the sausage gravy. The Bubba's BLT has chicken fried bacon and is simple but delicious. The KC (Kelly Clarkson) Cowgirl cookies were a dream come true for the sweet tooth. Get yourself a nice cold glass of milk. This place is a must try if you live in or visit Bastrop, TX.

I first wanted to say, the moment I walked in... it's a cute shop. The shop is perfectly decorated with lumberjack decor and amazing ambiance. I really like what they done with it. Service and food definitely deserve a 5 star plus. I was greeted by a very nice gentleman with a goatee who was extremely helpful in helping me choose what to order. As this was my first time here, but definitely not the last. This was probably the best BLT I put into my mouth. It was absolutely delicious. I don't remember the name of the sandwich, I think it's called the Buba, I could be wrong on that... but it was definitely amazing and it filled me up. The home fries with the sweet sauce was definitely prepared to perfection. I would definitely come back here. I also would recommend anyone wanting a grab something to eat and also enjoy sweets, this is the place for you.

Y'all. Stop what you're doing right now and run, don't walk, to The Bearded Baking Company for some *incredible* food. Hands-down the best biscuits & gravy I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Plus amazing pastries, local gifts and so much more. They even have dinner service, so you can come back for another round later in the day!

I loved the whole experience. It's such a cute space and has that elevated feel without feeling overly fancy or uncomfortable. We started with the grilled focaccia and Watermelon on Fire, and both were excellent. The watermelon was one of those dishes that sounds a little questionable on paper but completely works once you taste it. Sweet, savory, a little spicy and really fresh. We also had the Texas quail, which was beautifully cooked and full of flavor. I had the blackberry bourbon cocktail and loved that too. What really stood out during dinner though was how personable the service was. We never felt rushed and our server actually engaged with us, which made an already good dinner feel even better. I went back this past Saturday for brunch with my sister, her husband and my fiancé. It was definitely a livelier experience with more people around, but still a really nice atmosphere for a Saturday brunch. The service was good and everything came out as expected, although it didn't have quite the same personal touch that I experienced during my first visit. Between the four of us we got to try quite a bit. The shrimp and grits were rich, buttery and seasoned really well. The smoky pork tostada was packed with flavor and the potatoes on the side were honestly some of my favorite bites on the table. The French toast and fried chicken was as good as it looked, with crispy chicken, fruit and just enough sweetness. The only thing I wasn't completely sold on was the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was brown, which threw me off because that's not what I normally expect from sausage gravy, and the biscuits were a little too dense for my preference. The flavor wasn't bad at all, it just wouldn't be my first choice the next time I go. Other than that, Store House has been a hit for me on both visits. The food feels thoughtful without trying too hard, the plates are beautiful, and the restaurant works just as well for a dinner with your sister as it does for brunch with a group. I'll definitely be back.

Food and drinks: Good selection in both areas. The food we ordered arrived well plated. The food tasted good, was seasoned and flavourful. The side of grits was especially tasty. The restaurant also makes its own version of ranch dressing and ketchup. It was super tasty. We didn't try any cocktails but they looked good. Pricing: $$/$ - worth the experience.

They have gluten free options as well as vegan options and options for those who can have gluten. I went there for three out of the six days that I was on vacation in that area. I had originally wanted a chocolate chip cookie, but they didn't do just regular gluten free ones. However they did have gluten free peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. I'm not a big fan of peanut butter, but I thought I would try it since I was really craving a cookie. I had just the one, and it was so so so good! It didn't taste overly of peanut butter which was a win for me! It had just the right amount of peanut butter and chocolate chips. It was crispy around the edges and chewy towards the middle. I went back that same day and got two more of those cookies. The other days I went I got the same thing. One day, I did try their gluten free apple butter bar which was just as amazing! Service was fantastic! Each day I went, there was someone I hadn't seen before working. Each of them were super nice and friendly. The bakery itself had a very calm ambiance about it. It had a lot of space inside if you wanted to eat your meal or dessert inside or you could get it to go. I also love how Tough Cookie Bakery supports the LGBTQ+ community. There was a pride flag painted outside of the bakery, and that just made me love the place that much more! I would definitely recommend Tough Cookie Bakery in Bastrop. I can't wait to go back once we're back in the area at the end of this month.

The only letdown was finding out that the ice cream isn't homemade or unique to the shop--it's just Blue Bell. Now, as a lifelong Blue Bell fan, I'll never turn it down, but with a place that has so much originality and character, we were hoping for a menu that reflected that same spirit. Still, it's a cute spot and worth a visit for the atmosphere alone.

And they offer both options every day/all day, which is great. She'll come back with her sister to enjoy it again. I had two breakfast tacos: one with egg, sausage and cheese and the other with migas. I really loved the migas. While the first taco was unremarkable, the migas was great. It was perfect, in fact. And it really celebrates their home made corn and flour tortillas. The only thing I didn't like was the salsa. It tasted like canned tomatoes and it was a wee bit salty and not very spicy. I really liked the migas, though. It was made with fresh jalapeño and had just the right amount of heat without needing any salsa. So I think this is one of those places that does some things very well... enough to build up a solid base of regulars, even though some of their other offerings were disappointing, like improperly reheated enchiladas. But if you know what to order, you can really enjoy this place. Oddly enough, they have chorizo on the menu, but don't list it among the available proteins on the breakfast taco menu, which I personally find very strange. Chorizo and egg is such an iconic breakfast taco offering. I'll bet they'd do it justice.
