We stopped by Flor lunch and got two sandwiches, BLT and chicken salad, and sides of broccoli salad and the potatoes. We also got some grits and a biscuit with gravy. We left with some leftovers, of course! The sandwiches were on Texas toast and were super good, for a very reasonable price! My favorite of the sides were the potatoes, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I was so tempted by baked goods but it felt like we had enough food already. If I'm back in bastrop I'll have to try some, along with the brunch items. The folks working there were all super friendly and attentive. The inside was nicely renovated but still homey/quaint. I'm a big sandwich girl and love a good BLT! This one was so good - definitely hit the spot for me with whatever sauce they had on it. My husband's go to is always a burger and he enjoyed his brunch burger (with an egg) as well. My kiddos got the ham and cheese sandwich kids meal and gobbled up theirs too! So overall a success for our family :) The potatoes/tots were included with our meals and they were unique but definitely very salty. We took a day trip to Bastrop to explore, and stopped here. Boy are we glad we did. While we didn't have lunch, we picked up multiple desserts to go, including the Banana's Foster Banana Bread, a fresh peach blondie, and a pecan pie blondie. The owner greeted us as soon as we came in, and explained the menu as well as the selection of soaps, fragrances, and candles. He shared that he was inspired by different aspects of his life in North Carolina prior to coming here to Texas, and we really enjoyed the scents! He was so kind, joked around, and had an awesome Mary Berry t-shirt. The baked goods were next level. I have never had a blondie as good as the ones from here. The peaches for the peach blondie came from local farmers, and were treated with the respect they deserved in a wonderful baked good. The banana bread was like a cross between banana nut bread and rum cake, and 100% delicious. This place is amazing, please go check it out! Hubby looked up something new for lunch and stumbled across The Bearded Baking Company. Went in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by our food. I ordered the Lloyd's BLT, probably the best BLT I've ever had. Hubby got the BYO-Burger and praised its deliciousness. Cookies for dessert, none can go wrong. I have visited the Bearded Baking Company many times, both here in Bastrop as well as their original food truck location in Austin. The menu is rooted in a Southern down-home theme with lots of hearty ingredients and vibrant flavors. The food is always made with care by Chef Wes. I enjoy the sandwiches here as well as the baked goods. The location in Bastrop is near the center of downtown in a vintage building that provides an awesome backdrop for the dining experience. On a recent Sunday brunch visit, we had the hot honey chicken biscuit sandwich and the "obligatory brunch burger". The chicken thigh is thick and meaty and perfectly cooked, resting atop a fluffy biscuit and slathered with spicy hot honey. The burger consists of two beef patties with bacon, cheese and scrambled eggs making a perfect choice for Sunday brunch. Both sandwiches were accompanied by the delectable fried taters. Brunch concluded pleasantly with a couple of the blondies (one pecan bourbon and the other peach). It's hard to resist the cookies and other goodies available. Food comes out pretty quickly and is always fresh and hot. Bearded Baking is a nice casual venue for breakfast or lunch. Highly recommended. read more

We are SO lucky to have this place in town. Every single thing they make is magically delicious. Their baked goods are buttery and always a wonderful treat. My favorites are the C4 (choc chip) cookies, cinnamon rolls and the seasonal danish. Oh! And we can't forget those brownies. The meals are fantastic! My personal fave is the chicken salad on croissant but their biscuits are the best in town, too. If you're feeling like a burger, their smashburgers are great. They make these crunchy little potatoes that you can get as a side at both lunch and dinner that are so nicely seasoned and satisfying. I first wanted to say, the moment I walked in... it's a cute shop. The shop is perfectly decorated with lumberjack decor and amazing ambiance. I really like what they done with it. As this was my first time here, but definitely not the last. This was probably the best BLT I put into my mouth. It was absolutely delicious. Came here on a road trip to Smithville. Overall food was pretty tasty. Def try to grits, I'm a huge grits fan being from the south. This place does it justice l, not too much butter or salt but they pack it with pepper for a kick. The biscuits were pretty dry, I would recommend they try to make it more fluffy. Kinda like chick fila does it. Not saying that's the gold standard, but I always enjoy CFA biscuits in the morning. Service and ambience and location were just fine. We found good parking spots and were happy about that since it was in downtown. But the food- no. Breakfast sandwich was not done well. Also threw ripped up chunks of American cheese on top of my grits and it looked absolutely inedible. I asked for a new side of potatoes which I was given and the ketchup, which had some sort of fruit taste/quality to it redeemed my side item- that was pretty decent. But the croissant brkfast sandwich was not my favorite. Biscuits & Gravy Mac and Cheese was incredible. Seasoning was perfect, a beautiful balance of rich melty cheese, toasty bread crumbs, smoky bacon and fresh scallions. The Kodiak Buffalo Chicken Fried Bacon Sandwich is amazing, crispy with just enough spice. Did not even open the extra sauce. No way you are going to eat it as a sandwich, give up in advance and ask for a fork. However, the surprise of the night was the potatoes with the sandwich. Rather than being a throw away side it was absolutely incredible. Delicious blend of spicy and sweet, cooked to perfection with a crisp outer crust and fluffy center. It was somewhat difficult to find, as we used a Lyft during our short trip to Austin for a film festival -- but it was so worth it! What we didn't realize was that the business was meant to be a takeout experience, though there were some tables indoors and outside. Further, you were expected to order in advance, so that your order would be ready for pickup by the door, with your name largely printed on the bag. Those biscuits...they were the slap-yo-mama kind, as I almost lost myself and caught my own hand from slamming down on the table, thrilled to have found such an incredible flaky biscuit and exceptional BACON. I wanted to love the mushroom gravy because it was flavorful and had an ever so slight spiciness that made it irresistible -- that being said, it was just a bit loose for a gravy.
