I go here first (gotta be fab in this high maintenace city lol). I usually go to Stephanie, but if she isn't available Yolanda's work is just as amazing. It's like they work magic here. I booked a week in advance, paid a deposit, and even accommodated a last-minute time change. After driving 40 minutes, I still waited over an hour because the stylist had just started another client. When I politely mentioned that better communication would've allowed me to arrive later, she responded with an attitude. Once serviced, I noticed The station was filthy. Combs had other clients' hair still in them, the chair wasn't cleaned, and the tools were visibly dirty. I also did not see a cosmetology license displayed for the stylist. She combed my hair roughly and aggressively, left me under the dryer for 25-30 minutes without saying a word, then returned smelling strongly of marijuana smoke. That was enough for me. I walked out. Without my hair not done. Respect your clients' time. Maintain clean tools. Communicate professionally. Those are the bare minimum. I won't be returning.

She has a clean and hygienic salon. When I compare her to other stylists she's the best. I've had a few bad experiences with hair braiders, literally every time I tell them to not braid my hair too tight and "I don't care if the braids slip off next week just don't braid my hair too tight." I don't want headaches or skin pimpling because the braids are too tight. Amber actually listened. Problem solved. Also, I wear glasses. Most stylists would always tell me take them off and I've had a few bad experiences where I thought I was going to have to tape my glasses to my forehead because braids were too close and tight near my ears. Amber asked me questions about how often I wear my glasses. In some instances she insisted I keep my glasses on while she braided near my ears, so she can make sure my glasses fit with the braids. Amber is amazing and I would highly recommend her. She cares about hair and you. She's very knowledgeable.

The vibe was straight Black Girl Magic; clean, relaxing, and honestly felt like a little spa moment instead of just a hair appointment. Before the braids even started, her assistant gave me the BEST wash I have had in over 10 years. I'm not exaggerating. It was gentle, thorough, and my scalp felt amazing. You can tell they actually care about healthy hair, not just getting you in and out. My hair was washed and braided in about 3.5 hours, which is incredible for braids. Her assistant was fast and organized, and their whole system just works. No bsing, no waiting around, everything just flowed. I am not the type to sit around 6+ hours to get my hair braided, I refuse! My brain is too hyper for that. These braids are GORGEOUS, neat, not too tight, and just overall perfect.I can honestly say I've found my new salon home.
