Annabelle was a great experience. We sat in a cozy booth in the bar area which ended up being one of the highlights of our experience. I'm sure the main dining room was great but there was something really cute and cozy about the booth by the window. The bartender took care of us and really leaned into our experience. He made great wine pairing recommendations for every dish. It was clear he really knew the menu. We're already looking forward to coming back to grab drinks at the bar. It was crowded at 7:00 PM, best get a reservation in! If you want to wow some clients with a nice dinner, this is the place to do it! The ambience is fancy, intimate, and the service is A++!! I ordered the Triple L, which is a lavender lemonade mocktail. No complaints there, it was a good standard mocktail. As for the meals, you can order 1 from each 3 courses. It starts with an appetizer, a first course, second course, then dessert. The bread starter was delicious, always love a good fresh brown and white bread! I could honestly eat the entire bread basket. My first choice was the duck liver pate. I'm Vietnamese, so I had my fair share of pate, but this pate fell a little short. The duck liver was a bit pungent and reminded me of blue cheese, which I wasn't a fan of. The Tajarin was delicious, with pasta noodles thinner and softer than other pastas I've had. It includes beans, ground meat, and Parmesan. The star of the meal, in my opinion, was the venison. I've never had venison, so this was my introduction to it. It was tender and earthy. It complemented beautifully with the beet sauce. I was initially a skeptic of bone marrow bread pudding, but oh my gosh it was so good. That was my favorite part of the dish. It's rich, melt in your mouth, and has a slight crunch with the exterior of the bread pudding. I tried a couple other dishes from the rest of my party, including the octopus and black cod. Both were delicious, seafood tasted fresh and were grilled exceptionally. It's hard to go wrong with any meal at this restaurant. We ended off with cookies and the sorbet. Have passed Annabelle (previously Nora) for years but never been. That changed last week when I stopped here on a whim with friends while checking out first Friday art walk across the street. So glad we did! It was a gorgeous night and no one on their cute and inviting patio. Nice restaurant week meal in January 2026. Great service and interesting, well made drinks. The appetizers we tried were all very good--the squash soup was gingery and hearty, the leeks were nice, and the salad with calamansi vinaigrette was refreshing. The entrees were also good, my friends liked the branzino and mushroom risotto, my lamb wasn't my favorite--it was a strange rectangle of meat, it was a bit tough, and the brown sauce wasn't very flavorful, and the parsnip puree was fine. The desserts were quite good--we tried the raspberry chocolate mousse, eggnog cheesecake with whiskey ganache, and orange curd cake; dessert was probably the best, most consistently great course. Came to Annabelle for restaurant week with one of my friends and had such an amazing time. From start to finish, everything was on point. I started with the squash soup and it was super warm and packed with flavor -- honestly the perfect way to start the meal. For my main, I got the branzino and it was cooked to perfection, really well balanced and just done right. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse and it was also great -- rich but not too heavy, and a perfect ending. My friend also loved his food and the cheesecake dessert! The ambience is such a vibe -- cozy, stylish, and just really good energy all around. Also have to mention the bathroom mirror because it's elite for selfies. Annabelle provided one of thee BEST restaurant experiences I've ever had! The feng shui was pure perfection! We were seated in one of their private rooms and it felt like we were in a literal greenhouse. The air was so fresh and the natural made it feel like a movie! The gold accents and pops of color were so pleasing to the eye. The staff was so attentive and informative. They welcomed us with smiled and insight regarding the menu! They were polite! I want to give a HUGE shoutout to the estaurant Manager Dina and our waitstaff Arin! When I say I LOVE them! They made us feel like we were the only guest and more over they made us feel like more than just dining guest! Dina and Arin are perfect examples of what 5 Star customer service looks/feel like! The food was nothing short of extraordinary! The oysters were ridiculously fresh and tasty. The mignonette and lemon with the oysters were a perfect pairing. We also had the Braised Pork Belly and the Roasted Leaks! The pork belly was seasoned so well and the hosin ju was a match I never knew I needed! The leaks we new for me and they were DELICIOUS! They melted in my mouth. I could've eaten 10 more LOL!! Our cocktails were good, they felt like they were made with fresh ingredients. I could taste how fresh the basil and mint was in my Basil Mint Mojito. My friend got a Mezcal Paloma and you can tell it was a fresh squeezed grapefruit, they smoke flavor wasn't overpowering. Light but deliberate. Extremely well crafted cocktails! For our entrees we got the Branzino with watercress salad and King Salmon with roasted fennel! The branzio was cooked to perfection! The watercress salad was but the flavor palette was excellent! The king salmon was tender and moist! Paired with the rusted fennel, grape tomatoes and sauce vierge, I felt like I was on a cloud! Everything was SO good! To finish it off we had the Vanilla Bean Peach Cheesecake and the Lemon Blueberry Poppyseed Cake. The cheesecake was by far the creamiest cheesecake I've ever had an I don't even like cheesecake! It was a great balance. The lemon blueberry poppyseed cake had the right amount citrus and blueberry. When researching dinner options for this trip, I stumbled across Annabelle, a retro-chic restaurant near Dupont Circle/ Embassy Row. The large blue awning and corner spot helped my Lyft driver easily find this restaurant. I fell in love with the beautiful restaurant. The prints on the walls, which vary in style depending on the room, the bold colors and prints of the seating upholstery, and the artful plant hanging from the skylight created a nice ambiance. I did note that the restaurant was loud; I heard snippets of conversations from several tables. The menu is seafood-forward. On the night of my visit, smoked salmon, oysters, scallops, snapper, cod, and bass were available. Steak, chicken, and a pasta dish rounded out the curated menu. I had the roasted beets and parsnip salad. It was, in a word, divine. Of course, I am partial to both and have to admit that I greedily gobbled up the salad quickly. The wild striped bass was bathed in citrus butter and was served with sweet potatoes and fennel. It was well composed, and I regret not being able to finish it, especially if I wanted dessert. I went with the citrus crème brûlée, which was not a great choice. The dessert came out perplexingly, both hot and cold. So hot from running the dessert under the broiler and cold from being stored in the fridge? Both extreme temperatures in one bite. It was just not a pleasant taste. Service was attentive. My friend and I visited Annabelle for Restaurant week in DC and it was incredible! Let's get into the details: First things first, the ambiance is very sultry, quiet, and upscale. The restaurant is dimly lit inside so when you put on your best outfits to go, make sure you get pictures before coming inside. The bathrooms were extremely clean and well maintained as well. Loved it. The service was outstanding. Our server Chris was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and each recommendation he made , we loved! He also did a great job of giving us enough time to enjoy our meal and chat, but also made sure we were not neglected. All of the food came out in a timely fashion , even though when we visited, it was nearing closing time. Very impressive and an incredible experience. Now the eats, wow. My date and I started off with this Squash soup and bread for the table and wow! One of the most unique food my Pallete has ever been blessed with and I enjoyed every millisecond of it! Run, don't walk to try this. My date loved her oysters as well and said they were very fresh For the main course, I had the braised lamb. 10/10! This lamb was everything I expected and more. So flavorful, tender, and the flavor profile was absolutely exquisite. My date ordered the branzino and said that it was to die for. So flavorful, just the right amount of flakiness, just amazing. Dessert kept the good vibes going! I had the eggnog cheesecake and my goodness! I wish I could recreate it at home. It was absolutely delectable and I savored every bite. It was light enough to be enjoyable but favorable enough to let you know that it's still a cheesecake. My date loved her torté as well and she really enjoyed that it was not overly sweet. What a special place from one of the best restaurant groups! The interior is so dark and cozy, dimly lit and romantic. I love the vibe. Before 6 on a weekend it was pretty quiet but quickly picked up with lots of people coming in. The only negative was the service between courses and waiting was kind of slow. However, the food was excellent! I loved the beef tartare which was so fresh and light. The oysters were delicious and not too briny. Each dish was smaller in serving size and healthy. You will not have leftovers but each course is still an okay size, but the food is on the lighter side. I loved the steak tenderloin. Literally so tender and cooked to perfection. I only wish they served more mashed potatoes with this dish. I also tried the mushroom risotto, lighter than other risottos and almost soupy. Located in the beautiful neighborhood of Kalorama, Annabelle is inside a brick building that used to house the country's first certified organic restaurant. Walk inside and there's a room with a bar, two dining rooms, and a garden oasis. They also have a dog-friendly patio. From the moment you sit down, the servers warmly welcome you and help keep the flow of the courses natural. The menu is seasonal and organized around four courses and sides. Every dish we ordered was superbly crafted, but the standouts were the Gingered Koginut Squash Soup, Heirloom Tomato Carpaccio, and Braised Lamb Ragu. All three were delicious and dishes we'll crave. The bread to start was warm and tasty. The trio of sorbet for dessert was a great way to end the evening. To drink, my friend enjoyed their negroni and I the Virginia Peach. We had a really nice family dinner at Annabelle. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. The small plates were my favorite. I loved the Spanish octopus and the Parisian gnocchis. The flavors were rich. The bread and butter were also outstanding. My main dish (Amish chicken) was good but not mind blowing. I felt like they could have done something different with the dark meat. And the sweet potato puree was more like a sauce. The German chocolate cake was stellar! Don't miss out on that! The service was fantastic. Really friendly waiter. He was great! Came here for a date night recently and had the best and intimate dinner with my boyfriend. I think I saw somewhere in the precious reviews that there is valet, but when we came there wasn't ? (Do with that as you will lols) but we found street parking relatively easy to find. Annabelle's is a beautiful fine dining restaurant located on the corner street of Florida Ave, and I had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The waiters were professional and so kind, and really did made a great effort to ensure that my boyfriend and I had a nice enjoyable dinner together. I started off my meal with grilled oysters and they were DELICIOUS. I'm not an oyster girl at all, but thoroughly enjoyed these - they sit in some kind of butter sauce and I gobbled them down quickly. From there I had some grilled octopus and their chicken dish which both were cooked to perfection. The bartender Kevin greeted me by name and gave me time to look over the menu. That's one thing I really loved about the whole experience, I never felt rushed. Tuna Crudo 9/10 it was light and packed a punch of flavor. It was served with chips which added texture to the dish. Striped Bass & Mussels 8/10 the fish and mussels were cooked perfectly and had good flavor but the mushroom and fennel stole the show. Lived the sauce! Tropical Panna Cottage 10/10 when I tell you I was shocked! I'm not a dessert person at all, but this was something special. It was delicious and had so many different flavors and textures. We had such a great dinner at Annabelle with friends--it honestly hit all the right notes. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. The host team was super friendly and even let us shift to a corner table so we could have a bit more privacy. That small gesture really set the tone for the night. Our server was fantastic--on top of everything without ever feeling overbearing. He remembered our orders perfectly and was great at showing up exactly when we needed something. Just really warm and professional. My partner and I split the chicken cordon bleu, and it was incredible--one of the best versions we've had. We also shared a few sides, which were all creative and full of flavor. The cocktails were great, and the wine list was clearly chosen with care. The sommelier even stopped by to chat and helped us pick something based on our feedback. It was spot on. We were stuffed by the end and figured we'd skip dessert... but then the staff brought out a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies on the house. Our friends passed, but my partner and I had no problem polishing off theirs too. Apparently, we weren't that full after all. I first found this new restaurant because of its excellent foie gras at the Best of Washington and have been dying to try out the full menu ever since! First of all, the ambiance here is fantastic--very old school, cozy, romantic. Our service was personable and the food was excellent as well! The cocktail list wasn't extensive, so I went with a classic martini, which was well-made. For food, I had the hamachi crudo, which was very flavorful; the tortelloni, which was good but a little bit lighter on flavor than I was expecting; the black cod, which *nailed it*--I was licking the plate; and the brown butter banana and campfire smore, which were both interesting and fun but not the most flavorful desserts I've ever had. I took my wife and two boys here for dinner. 9 and 12 years old. For appetizers we got the squash soup and the beef tartar. The tartar was lovely. Tender, flavorful, great texture. The soup was excellent. Dense and succulent. For secondi we had Spanish octopus and the lasagnette. The octopus was special. Hats off to the chef on that one (don't miss it!). The lasagnette was good. Not special. For mains, the black cod was superb. Buttery, succulent, well seasoned and well cooked. Just right. In contrast, the Teres major was borderline inedible. I had it done medium rare as was my servers suggestion. It was mealy and dry. I offered my child a bite and he spit it out. I didn't, but not because I didn't want to. To close, the cheese plate and brown butter bananas were well enjoyed. The cheese selection was complete. A tour of beautiful dessert cheeses. The tallegio especially was impressive. my real complaint here (besides the steak) was the waiter, who treated us with contempt. Perhaps he thought the kids didn't belong, or perhaps he just didn't like me? But he added a dish to our meal without our consent, just waiting for us to challenge him. He dismissed my comment of "well, I can't order the red yet because I still have two courses before my steak, so perhaps I'll..." cutting me off with "ok I'll just come back" throwing up his hands and walking away. It was clear to me that he didn't think we belonged, and didn't want to serve us. Most of the food was truly delicious. I regularly eat at Knightsbridge restaurants and love the Rasikas, Oyamel. So I was especially disappointed when I ate at Annabelle for the first time last week. The setting was dark, compared to the previous dining room at that location. It took an hour to get served and the duck breast resembled nothing I had eaten with that label in the past. It tasteless and formed into a kind of brick of small chards of poultry. The manager made an apology for my dish being 15 minutes late in delivery. "The chef had to remake it " ??? My guests had better luck with soft shell crabs, snapper, although the portions were small. We left disappointed and without dessert. The wine list and appetizers were good. read more

Went for a birthday dinner and the food was good but the service the below expectations. They were not ready for us at the reservation time so we had a drink at the bar. The bar was unable to transfer the charges to the table so we had to pay and then take our drinks. The waiter appeared disappointed that we already had drinks. She also did not offer the wine list until asked. The staff also kept bumping one of the chairs during the meal as they walked by. Apparently, they have too many tables for their space. They forgot one person was gluten free despite including it on the reservation and telling the waiter. As a result, they gave bread to the person a couple of times. They also forgot it was a birthday. We were with friends so had a good evening but we will not be back. read more

This was sadly a forgettable experience. The outside of the restaurant looks to be a cute intimate hipster place but the inside feels like you stepped into the mid-1990s, stuffy servers and all. We stated with the Brussels sprouts and a beet salad. Both were quite tasty but nothing mind blowing. For my entree I got the halibut with a clam broth. The halibut itself lacked a ton of flavor and there were portions that tasted like over cooked mush. The clams themselves seemed over cooked. The slaw on top was tasty but not something that should be with the broth. My friends steak was a perfect medium and she enjoyed it. The service was stuffy, and while our server was polite he wasn't exactly friendly. The table next to us got a salmon dish which wasn't on the menu nor were any specials shared with us. It was unfortunate as both my friend and I were craving salmon that night. The atmospheric here is for an older 65+ crowd and we definitely felt out of place. I came here, and I solo dined as part of the AmEx and Resy Tastemakers program. So as a disclaimer, I won't comment on the price point of everything because $99 of my bill was covered by Resy. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. I felt like I never had to lift a finger to ask for anything and was thoroughly impressed. The food was so delicious, and I hate saying it but my favorite dish was dessert. Altogether for about $120 I ordered a cocktail, an appetizer, an entree, and dessert. I ordered the black cod as an appetizer. It was buttery smooth and so fresh. It was served in a sweet and sour sauce that had me dipping my bread just to get every drop. The steak was good - not too chewy or undercooked but generally unremarkable. But for dessert I got the olive oil cake. I could eat a whole sheet of it. So light and refreshing and moist. My only comment is that I think there might've been too much fig compote. It has an overpowering sweetness that drowns out all other ingredients, but I still ate every crumb. read more

Annabelle is described as offering modern American cuisine, and we were interested in checking this place out for dinner, making advance reservations. We started off with the Hiramasa Crudo (with yogurt, kabocha puree, and omani lemon) and the Roasted Beet Salad (dressed with a Keep Well Irish Malt Stout vinaigrette, and prepared with parsnips, local honey and blue cheese spuma). The crudo was light and fresh, and the salad was great for any beets lover. Maine Scallops (with a carrot-ginger puree and urfa oil) and the Hand Cut Pappardelle (with braised lamb ragu, artichoke, and salsify and shaved pecorino) were our choices for our second course. We weren't really fans of the puree for the scallops, and the ragu wasn't for us in the pappardelle dish. For our mains, we opted for the Pan Roasted Atlantic Cod (in a manila clams broght, chorizo oil, and a fennel & anchovy dressing) and the NY Strip steak (with roasted potatoes, lemon-marinated greens, and Annabelle Worcestershire sauce). The cod was flakey, but I didn't like the chorizo oil that was used, and the fennel was a bit overpowering. The steak was more on the bland side, but prepared okay. We ended the meal with the Pear Frangipane Tart Brulee (served with a pear sorbet) and the Apple Crisp Posset (with apple butter and brown sugar oat crumble). Service was a little off-putting, and could have been dressed with a smile. The space is modern-like, with high ceilings that has exposed wooden frames. She originally booked the patio and, because it was going to be cold, the restaurant called her hours before we arrived to see if we'd like to sit indoors (oh yes, we did!). First, the ambiance is stunning. I would love to just transplant their decor to my home! Our server let us know they introduce a completely new menu each season but each week there is a dish removed and another added -- which I love because it'll be like a new restaurant when I come back! My friend and I both ordered cocktails - I got one off the menu with Brandy, coconut milk and cardamom. We split several dishes, starting with the potato gnocchi -- literally melts in your mouth. One of my favorite dishes of the night. They were so kind as to split and serve it on two separate plates. For our main, we split the hake - a white flaky fish that is very light - along with a side of Brussels sprouts and steak fries. The fries were seasoned with a spice blend that I didn't recognize but was both salty and sweet and I wish I could replicate at home. For dessert, we split the baked Alaska which had chocolate cake and peppermint ice cream. It was not an overwhelming peppermint flavor which I liked. In total, our bill came to ~$140 which I thought was reasonable considering we had a LOT of food and a great experience. First thought: WOW. From the moment you walk through the front door your eyes see a gorgeous bar. As you go up the stairs, you're engulfed into this classy and beautiful seating area. I was fully in love with the decor, furniture, carpet and even the plates! The colors are luscious! But now, the important part: Food and drinks. Had a lovely French 75 and my friend had the Lopez. :) Our waiter was delightful, very knowledgeable and extremely thoughtful to split our dishes: we tried the brussels sprouts with cranberries, melt in your mouth gnocchi, the buttery and flaky hake (fish), lovely seasoned steak fries and the baked Alaska! Wow! I will be back--can't wait to try other dishes! Ps. Oh, forgot to mention, they called me prior to coming because my reservation was for outside.. they said it'll be a bit chilly and they have indoor seating available. How thoughtful!!
