    Food and service were great. Oysters, crème brulee, and catch of the day were solid. Cocktails were also excellent, particularly the pear one. The service was helpful and quick. Ambiance is cozy, with dim lights and big seats.

    The Tabard Inn is a pleasant throwback to an earlier era, with a staff that makes you feel like you're dining at someone's home. My wife and I enjoyed drinks in the lounge before our dinner reservation with friends. If you're not dining, they offer a slightly different food menu in the lounge, more similar to their lunch menu. Our table shared the cheese fritters and black beluga lentil hummus, both of which were tasty. The hummus was especially fresh and flavorful. My wife and I shared the chicken fricassee and bavette steak. I particularly enjoyed the earthy sides that accompanied each dish. We also added a side of mushrooms. We finished the meal with the honey cake and homemade peach ice cream.

    Had such a great brunch at Tabard Inn! We started with the Tabard Doughnut and wooow... it was incredible, almost like French toast in doughnut form. For drinks, we tried the Paloma and the Gin in the Cupboard. Both were tasty and light enough to enjoy with brunch, so we were very happy with our choices. I went with The Burger (so good I took the rest home) and my boyfriend had the Tabard Breakfast Sandwich with chicken sausage. Both were filling and delicious. But honestly, the garlic herb fries might have been the star of the meal. Can't wait to come back!

    Wow! The food here is amazing. You can tell they're putting in the work and making it from scratch. We came here for breakfast and I had the eggs Benedict. I can appreciate how hard it is to perfectly nail hollandaise sauce and these guys are doing it. My kids had the homemade donuts and they came out freshly made and still hot with a side of vanilla whipped cream. The ambiance is lovely with a beautiful antique sitting room at the entrance. Don't miss out on this beautiful Inn!

    We loved the entranceway. It's beautiful. Aesha greeted us so kindly when we arrived for dinner and gave us a little tour. The rooms are beautifully furnished with so much detail. One room even had a curio cabinet with miniature replicas of rooms from the hotel. We were early, so we spent some time at the bar. I tried the Follow the Smoke rum craft drink. It was smoke infused with applewood. Our bartender, Darin, was attentive and took good care of us. He gave us good suggestions for dinner options. I also tried the Respect your Elders cocktail. It was delicious. Our server was Fatima. She was so nice and took excellent care of us. She checked on us periodically through our meal and was very attentive. The dining area was very charming. We ordered the Filet Mignon, grilled Salmon, cheese fritters and frisée salad. Renee always made sure our table was always cleared of dishes and we had clean silverware. My filet was slightly overcooked, but the sauce was delicious and the carrots were cooked nicely. My husband said his salmon was cooked perfectly. The frisée salad was light and refreshing. The cheese fritters were light and airy with a unique flavor that was nice. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Neapolitan and Crème Brûlée. My husband said the Chocolate Neapolitan was extraordinary with the white chocolate on top and the chocolate mousse on top of the graham cracker crust was a nice blend of flavors and textures. The Crème Brûlée was delicious with a citrus kick, although the serving is small. We topped it off with complimentary candied beets and caramel with sea salt. After dinner we were treated to live jazz in the main room. This was so relaxing. We also liked the photos and memorabilia of the most recent owner, Margaret Kinsman.

    Off the main strip of busy Connecticut Ave, this is a beautiful historic place to dine. Came here to eat breakfast only, however, I am interested in staying in three future. I made reservations but looks like we didn't need to since we went early. You have the option of inside or their back patio which was very cute, almost like you were in another country. Service was very accommodating. Our food and coffee experience was amazing. Foodnis very flavorful and fresh. Their gouda grits are so good. I had the lox scrambled eggs with cream cheese, red union and capers -YUM! Great portions and great prices. It was a short walk from our hotel so in the future, I will opt to eat here instead of our hotel resturant which was also good but this was better!

    We stopped by for a quick bite and a drink. The service was amazing and they were very attentive! This is an old building that is considered an historic building. If you are ever in the area, or have time to stop by, please do. You will not be disappointed.

    I had a great time eating lunch with my mother here. I loved the ambience and rich history of the historical restaurant. Both my mother and I loved the frites, and my mother loved her grilled chicken sandwich. My frisee salad was a little bacon and onion-heavy for my taste, but i still finished it. The service was fine, just fine. I admire the restaurants' efforts to stay culinarily relevant by updating their menus throughout the decades, and I can only imagine what flavors graced the plates of guests in bygone eras. I hope to one day experience a stay at the inn attached to the restaurant.

    Nice and affordable historic restaurant in the middle of DC with a very beautiful courtyard and delicious locks and eggs. The service is fast and professional and the scenery feels like you had been transported back to the 1940s. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do and the kitchen works extremely fast if you are in a hurry.

    As a vegetarian, I would not recommend this restaurant for weekday lunch. Although there are salads on the menu, the only vegetarian protein option is a poached egg. A runny yolk didn't sound appetizing to me on a caesar or garden salad. When I asked about a veggie burger, I was told that's not available. I ordered the only vegetarian entree - beluga lentils. It did not look very appetizing. It had some interesting flavor combinations but overall was not a very satisfying meal. It's a bummer because weekend brunch here is amazing! I wish they served breakfast options at weekday lunch.

    Heart shaped donuts for Valentine's Day were cute and delicious! The food overall was amazing. Even a lot of good restaurants these days feel like you're just getting the same thing, but Tabard was especially delicious and it truly felt like the kitchen took time to make simple items special for brunch, particularly the chicken sandwich.

    We had a wonderful dinner here this week. One huge plus is the decor. This is one of the oldest restaurants in the city, & it is very charming. The food was also great. We started with cheese fritters, which were delicious. We also had the special crab dip, which also was very good. I had the pork chop as my entree & it was good--& very large. Our friend had the duck & said it was exceptional--I will try it on our next visit.

Well I do enjoy burgers and plenty of places have upped their burger game. As much as it cost for a burger at certain fast food places you might as well hit up some of these other places. The prices are basically the same now. On a few trips to Capital Grille I did go with the burger and so I decided to check out its affiliate Capital Burger. Capital Burger actually has more burger options to choose for over Capital Grille and a more slimmed down menu. Still with the name burger in its name, you know where their focus is. I went with the bacon cheeseburger that comes with candied smoke bacon that came at $22 with your chose of sides (fries or various salads). It was cooked to the perfect medium rare and you can tell when a burger is cooked with better ingredients and cooked with a give a damn. It was not thrown together, and the fries were not just sitting under a heating lamp. I actually ordered a to go burger for the spouse. Here is where customer service comes in. I was asked how far I had to travel and the person taking my order said she will separate portions so it will travel better. Thank you. It is that little extra that goes a long way. This time I went with the Capital Burger to go along with some key lime pie to nibble on later. Great service and great food. There are plenty of good burger places but if you are a burger fan then definitely check this place out. Absolutely no disappointment. For a true high end burger experience I have no problem giving this place a solid five stars.
