We made reservations and were seated as soon as we got there. We got the soco pizza and rigatoni alla vodka pasta. This was the perfect meal after walking around the city. The pizza had great toppings and the crust was amazing. My one issue was that when we were offered water, we were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We chose still water assuming that we would get tap water. Instead the waiter brought out 2 bottles of water that cost $15 total. We looked at other tables and saw there was free tap water available. We felt a bit tricked by this. Still enjoyed our meal and the fast service. Update: Chef Geoff reached out the day I posted my review. He went in and refunded us for the bottles of water. I appreciate how quickly this matter was attended to.

Service was impeccable, the food was simply amazing, and the atmosphere was inviting. The perfect setting for us to enjoy such a lovely dinner! I had made our reservation via OpenTable in advance and chose Chef Geoff's thanks to the Yelp reviews I had read. This place appears to get busy so definitely recommend reservations during peak times. We started with the guacamole ($17) and loved this app. I ordered the mushroom ravioli ($25) for my dish and my guest, the blackened salmon ($30). Both were amazing. The chef sent out an amuse-bouche (risotto with Cajun shrimp) which was such a nice touch, and so yummy. And just when I thought I couldn't eat anymore we decided to share the ricotta donuts ($11). It was the perfect ending to the meal. Shout out to our wonderful server, Lyana. Service was perfect. We simply could not have asked for a better evening of good food, service, and conversation.

Lia's is a favorite so we gave this a try for lunch. Expensive- should have gone down the street to Tate's Ordered the fish and chips- where's the fish? The slaw was spicy- nice touch. The green coriander sauce was delicious. Great hostess - service meh

The food here is delicious! Amazing flavors and nice portion sizes. The rigatoni was very creamy and rich. The crust of the pizza was particularly good as well. I am taking it one star down because our waiter was pushy on upselling us throughout the dinner. We asked for water for the table (in addition to the drinks we had already ordered) and, without asking, he came back with Saratoga water and charged us $7.50/per bottle! Because I'm visiting DC, it seemed only appropriate that I dub this frustrating incident "water-gate." Thankfully the food was great, and I'm giving the benefit of the doubt it was just that particular waiter.

I must of came in on an off day, which was a Tuesday of all days. I sat at the bar & the bartender Jose U dropped a drink off in front of me within 3 minutes of arriving & sitting bar top. He looked at it and realized the guy 3-4 seats down ordered it and gave it to him. It looked good so I ordered one. I ordered the Salmon and the Lobster Mac & Cheese. He said it was on the restaurant week menu, I said OK, even though I didn't see it on there. 55 minutes passed by without the bartender checking on my food / on me in general. I asked if he could check the kitchen on my food and he had a look on his face like he had messed up. "What'd you order again? Did the other bartender take your order?" Knew by his response I was in a shituation. He did bring me the lobster Mac & cheese about 15 minutes later. It was really good. The salmon never came out unfortunately. The manager (dressed in the grey blazer) ended up supposedly comping the meal. Ended up wasting an hour 45 minutes here. The excuse was something like my order went to another customer and there was a mixup with the seat #'s. What actually happened is I had 2 bartenders take my order at the same time - both assumed the other input it in the computer, however neither did. You'd think Tuesday wouldn't be as busy as a Friday / Saturday experience here, but I'd hate to be here on a really busy shift. Bad experience all around, though I do like the ambience here. Wish l would have had a chance to properly try out what I ordered. If you have a lot of patience, wouldn't mind recommending this place. If you want to have your food out in a timely manner though (and actually eat it), hope you're more patient than I was. Won't be back.

I have been thinking about this place since I tried it during DC restaurant week last summer, so that should tell you about the quality of the food. The interior is nice and spacious. There is plenty of seating available at the bar, on the first floor, and patio. We were served by our waiter Arthur from the moment we sat down. He made a big impression on us through his extensive knowledge of the menu, thoughtful suggestions, and proactiveness with fixing mistakes with our orders; I just had to ask for his name. He alone made the dining experience spectacular. The food portions were considerably sizable. I brought leftovers home after ordering an appetizer, entrée, and dessert from the Restaurant Week menu. The wings were crisped to perfection, the salmon was juicy and seasoned, and the sorbet was soft and tasty. The food will have me return again and again for more. With the chaos of restaurant week, I was surprised to see that the staff was still able to deliver our food to the tables in a swift major. The manager came around a couple of times to engage with us and ask our opinion of everything which was really nice. The service was impeccable.

We had an excellent experience at this restaurant across from our hotel. The service was super friendly and accommodating. My son fell out of a high top seat and they quickly moved us which was so nice after an embarrassing situation. I really enjoyed the blackberry margarita which was tart and delicious. I had the tofu chili crunch and it was so tasty. Kids had burgers and Mac n cheese which they loved. Husband had a pork chop and licked the plate clean. Overall really great experience

From the start, the hostess and waiter were incredibly welcoming and the vibes were great. They seated us right when we walked in even though we didn't have a reservation due to the debacle at the other restaurant nearby. They had a great sense of humor, so the service was made the whole experience fun and was the best part of the dinner. Honestly, this was some of the best service I've ever had. They were also very accommodating of my allergies and very kind about it too. The food was good, and the patio was nice and warm. This restaurant had been popping up on all of my searches for DC restaurants with heated outdoor seating and great food, and I can see why. Highly recommend! This restaurant really saved my night.

We went here on a Saturday evening. Finding a parking spot was a nightmare. We had reservation and got seated right away. The ambiance was casual. The interior was modern. We enjoyed the sweet and spicy cauliflower and fall burrata for starters. The fall burrata has arugula and fig jam. The Cajun chicken bucatini was hearty. It had bacon, spinach, tomato cream and parmesan. The triple chocolate decadence was delicious. Great consistency with different textures from the salted caramel gelato, chocolate ganache and mousse. It was busy and it was evident with the service. We felt the pressure and the rush of our server who did not have much time to ask about our food. Nevertheless, they were very accommodating with the request for a candle on the cake for our friend's birthday celebration and they sang for her when they served the cake.

They are really great about allergies here. Mynor, my server was EXCELLENT at that. Swift and efficient and gave me helpful tips for future ordering. Despite it being late and near closing he did not rush me at all. Ambiance is nice, the place is clean and the food is delicious. I want to try something new but I keep ordering the steak every time! We had a wonderful night at Chef Geoff's. My friends and I were there for a few hours because the vibes were exactly what we wanted and Michelle was an absolute delight. She was so attentive, always checking on us without us feeling like it was overdone. She was lovely and great with the recommendations. Our meal was also great. Across us we had the March pasta special, short ribs, Caesar salad with calamari, wings, and the butter pecan cheesecake. Every night was great. We'll definitely be back

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. Down at the lobby is this restaurant. I was advised by the front desk to try this place out. I took their advise and it sure did not dissapoint! First night we ate dinner. Our waiter Arthur greeted us and asked if we would like some beverages. Ordered a fancy cocktail for my wife and a super mug Michelob ultra. This mug was huge! You get your money's worth for the draft beer i ordered. I was surprised because the price tag of $13, you usually get short changed with half the amount for the same price :) Ordered our main entrees of Mediterranean Seabass and Pork ribs with rice. Received within minutes. All was so good!! Tasted delicious!! Cooked to perfection. Decided to try out breakfast as well the next morning. Again this place did not dissapoint. All was very good. Came back that same evening to eat dinner. Ordered Gumbo soup, Beef raised Ribs and Pasta. Omg! Delicous with my Super mug of Michelob ultra. Haha. Big Kudos for Vee serving us that night. He did an exceptional job as our assigned server. His first night of work as he stated, he did a heck of a job accommodating us. Good job! If you are in the area. Try this place out. Its decor is up to date and is somewhat fancy with reasonable prices. You won't be dissapointed. I was not dissapointed from my 3 visits here within a 1.5 day period. Excellent choice. Professional staff and excellent customer service.

If you do anything when you go, please make sure to get the biscuits. Hands down THE BEST BISCUITS I've ever had lol. They are the most flaky and buttery biscuits, you can count each layer that these have. Pro tip is to ask for butter and the house made jam. We were sat in the solarium area, and it was during the heat dome, and it was really warm in there. Otherwise, though, it's completely charming inside and reminds us of some of the best French bistros we've been to in the country (e.g. Balzathar, Le Supreme). The three cocktails we tried--the frose, le jardin, and the clouseau--were all stunners. And of course the bread deserves another special mention, *especially* the room temperature butter. Thank you for not serving hard as hell butter! We shared the warm shrimp salad to start, and for $31, we were expecting more than a few avocado slices and 4 shrimp on it, but c'est la vie. The dressing was incredible, and the greens were crunchy. That's actually the only dish of the night that we thought was unfairly overpriced. One of us ordered the burger and the other got the rabbit pappardelle--you've got to get rabbit when you see it on a menu, which isn't often enough! There was a good amount of super tender meat and the pasta was perfectly al dente, all in a lightly stunning sauce. Chef's kiss. The burger was, no surprise, another triumph. There was juicy meat, bun integrity, and all the right accouterment notes. The fries are standard. Our daughter got their mac-n-cheese, which is probably just the gratin dish renamed. It was OK. We kind of got out of control for dessert and ordered the pot de creme, the cookie dough ice cream, and the profiteroles. Honestly, these were all good, but nothing that stood out as exemplary as with the savory stuff. Our only major complaint was the service. It was really spotty and while there was a very, very long gap in between when we got our water and then put in our drinks, but our mains came out almost directly after the salad. And the guy was just not very hospitable. Not necessarily a "bad" experience...it just could have been a lot better. The breadbasket came with three pastries, which felt a bit smaller than expected, but the almond croissant more than made up for it. On the heartier side, the chicken and waffles were extremely filling thanks to the dense waffles, so definitely a dish to tackle with an appetite. One of the biggest surprises was the brunch salad with salmon, which ended up being one of the best salads I've had in a long time--fresh, balanced, and satisfying. The breakfast sandwich was another highlight: so good that it's now the new standard I'll compare all other breakfast sandwiches to. The smoked salmon bagel was also a fun experience, served deconstructed so you can build each bite exactly how you like it. Not everything was a hit--the French toast wasn't my favorite--but the overall meal was strong enough that it barely detracted from the experience. Brunch offers a few additions beyond the regular breakfast menu, but overall it's very similar to their standard breakfast, just with a couple of extra options. It tends to get full on the weekends to make a reservation. Bottom line: Penbrook is a beautiful hotel restaurant that punches above its weight--excellent service, memorable dishes, and several items worth returning for.

The food and drink here are both excellent and absolutely worth coming for. They serve up great, high-quality cocktails, and I also ordered the cheeseburger, which was really juicy and beautifully cooked. The space itself is famous for having political caricature artwork all over the restaurant, and they even give you fun caricature coasters that you can take home with you as a souvenir. Because it's a popular underground spot, it can definitely get incredibly busy and cramped in there. I've been multiple times, and almost every single time it is tough to find a spot to sit. However, I did come once during an off-peak time, right in the middle of the week around 1:00 PM for lunch--and it wasn't to busy, so we were easily able to just sit right at the bar.  I would definitely recommend checking this place out! While the tight crowds can make it a bit tough on a busy week day or weekend night, it is completely worth experiencing at least once for the great drinks, good food, and unique atmosphere.

This was my first time dining here, and it was for a Valentine's Day date. The ambience was beautiful, and the food was amazing. Unfortunately, our waiter left a bit to be desired--he seemed disconnected and wasn't very attentive until it was time for the bill, which was disappointing. Aside from that, I genuinely enjoyed the menu and would definitely return for another visit.

We stopped in around 1:20 PM and were able to grab seats at the bar, which turned out to be a great choice. The Bourbon Lemonade was easily one of the highlights of the meal, refreshing, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. If you're looking for a cocktail, this is definitely one to order. The chicken sandwich sliders were delicious, with juicy chicken and a soft biscuit, but the honey drizzle was a little overpowering for my taste. I'd recommend asking for the honey on the side so you can control the sweetness while still enjoying the flavors of the chicken and biscuit. The scrambled eggs were decent, but nothing particularly memorable. They were presented beautifully on a stylish plate, though the taste itself was fairly standard. The bartenders were attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly despite the busy lunch crowd. The service matched the upscale feel of the restaurant and made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Yardbird is a great brunch or lunch spot with a welcoming atmosphere, quality food, and excellent drinks. I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the DC area.

So shoutout to him. I decided to get a bite to eat since I was already there. Excellent service (I believe their names were Conway and Ian) and food! They have a pretty good happy hour menu. One of the deals was a martini and a way smash burger (I mean you can't beat that). I didn't see that deal in time and ordered the watch burger and fries. It was SO good! The portion size was huge so I had to get it to go. The drinks were really good! I believe I had "The Cabo" and a lemon drop martini. I hope to return soon.

(They even bought a round of complimentary bubbly to toast the birthday girl!) Hope you enjoy Proper Bar as much as we did!
