We returned for brunch and loved it. Make sure you take a good appetite or the price might not be worth it.

We were on our way to another spot and then saw this place and decided to try it on a Monday afternoon. Customer service was friendly but a little slow. The space was clean and had a lot of potential to be more aesthetically pleasing. They did inform me that they plan to have a buffet starting in October and this space would definitely be nice for soenthing like that. We got the jerk chicken rolls and catfish for appetizers. The chicken rolls and sauce was good. The catfish was fried well and came with beer battered fries which are my favorite type of fries. I got the gumbo w/o sausage and got a nice portion of seafood in it. It tasted good with a dash of hot sauce added to it, but I wish it had more rice in it for a better balance. My husband got the jerk lamb chops and he said they tasted really good; sweet and a little spicy. He said they were real tender. He also the seafood got mac n cheese and again they gave good amount seafood with the side. He also got the brocolli which he liked. I got a side of kale and I didn't enjoy the flavor. We both would definitely come back here! I think with a few tweaks, this place has a lot of potential to be a top contender.

Came here because "brunch" was in the name haha. Later on, we thought it was weird that it said "brunch" outside, but "kitchen" on the inside. No matter. We had a baby with us who was getting fussy so we had time to get an appetizer and a drink for each of us. It wasn't super busy when we got there, but the atmosphere was nice. The jerk chicken rolls were really good! Not too hot. I wish there was more of it! I got the peach lemonade and my husband got the secrets drink. We would have gotten a coffee, but I guess they didn't serve it? Which is weird for a brunch place to not have on the menu. Overall, it was just okay. Definitely overpriced. It was $40 for a very small plate, a lemonade and a mixed drink.

So we ended up trying Miss Toya's as a last minute attempt to find somewhere to have dinner for our anniversary as we had an unexpected family priority which prevented us from us from keeping our initial reservations somewhere else. BUT I will say Miss Toya's did not disappoint. They were not only able to accommodate us, but our server was extremely attentive and the food was really good. The ambience however gave us more of a fast casual experience than we expected but we didn't mind. We actually returned the following weekend. Our menu favorites were the fried deviled eggs and hot honey salmon bites. We enjoyed them so much we returned the following week. We hope to try the much talked about brunch in the near future.

My husband absolutely loves authentic southern food, and so, when we found out about this restaurant, we were very excited to try it. The atmosphere and interior was fine. It looks like it was newly remodeled, but it definitely does not give off southern kitchen vibes. It seems like it's kind of confused in what kind of restaurant it wants to be. We were told to find a seat promptly upon walking in. Within five minutes of sitting down, our waiter was over to ask for a drink order. We had each ordered iced tea, not paying attention and were surprised when it came and was sweet tea. My husband likes unsweet tea and I prefer to use my own sweetener. But again, this is supposed to be a southern kitchen restaurant, so I guess sweet tea is not a stretch. I just wish they had offered both options. My husband was very excited to see Oxville on the menu and that is what he ordered. He got it with collard greens and cornbread. He said the collard greens were OK and the cornbread was good. However, he was underwhelmed by the oxtail. He was also very surprised to see that it was not served over rice or anything. I ordered the catfish with macaroni and cheese and sweet potato as my side. The catfish was breaded and fried very well. The breading was very, very salty, however. The catfish itself was moist. The sweet potato side was probably the best thing I ate. It was very good and could definitely be offered as a dessert! It was that sweet. The macaroni and cheese was not bad, but it was not anything to write home about. For the caliber of food, the prices are absolutely ridiculous. It was a very expensive meal. We likely will not return.

Got a mocktail and an alcoholic drink. Pretty expensive at 24. Ordered the red snapper and it was delicious. But very expensive. At 40$ I expected a bigger piece of fish considering you can get two for this price at most places. Maybe I will come back to try something else. There was no hh yet.

It's been two-months since I visited this restaurant and it wasn't a good visit. I've taken this time to reflect on the visit and to provide a more constructive review than a not so nice review hours after the visit. Arrived for lunch at 11:45AM and was informed there was a 30-min wait, Three other couples were also waiting. In viewing the dining area I noted there were eight empty tables ... so maybe they were understaffed. loooong story but food wait times exceeded 20-mins for appetizers, entree, and dessert, $6 for Iced tea and you only get 1-refill; 3rd glass or 2nd refill is another $6. I found the food to be bland and none of it was hot. Overall for me, Miss T's is over-rated, over-priced, and under-delivered food.

Service was great. Every staff member there spoke and had causal conversation. Restaurant was clean. I came for the fried devil eggs and they did not disappoint. Rich flavor profile sweet relish plus spicy jalapeño; so good!

This was my first time going here. Everytime I say I was going to go something came up. I first went to the one in Silver Spring but they were only serving brunch so I drove to the one in Gambrills. I made reservations and got there and waited for almost five minutes before anyone came to the hostess desk. The table she was going to sit me at wasn't available so I just went to the bar. The Bartender was attentive and provides great service. The food tasted good. I was a little concerned with the deviled eggs presentation but it was good. Will probably go back to give it another try.

Food was outstanding! Service could have been a bit more attentive. Venue was not crowded yet our server wasn't as attentive to drink refills other issues that arose. However, that aside the food was so good! I absolutely will return!

Went to Miss Toya's cause wife said some real housewives of Potomac ate there. Ordered fried deviled eggs, which were good. Next, split the seafood fried basket with fries. Half of the fries were cold, but seasoned well. The fried shrimp and catfish were very salty, the mustard helped with dealing with the taste. The cornbread was warm and sweet. The ambiance was wonderful - playing Brandy's first album is always great! Drunkin Noodle: The service was good, however, did not receive water refills (after eating the salty batter seafood, you need two glasses). They have a bar!!..but the lemonade was fresh made not fake.

Staff was pretty friendly. Came here for a quick bite. Food needed to be a little more season. The rest of mine looks clean. I ordered fried chicken mac & cheese a little too creamy for me and rice .

    Melody A.

Definitely a work in progress. It has a lot of growth potential to get up to the quality that I am accustomed to at the Silver Spring location. The drinks were good and food was nice, but I want that amazing southern style cooking. That makes you want to slap your mother style cooking. Lol. I like the openness of the space and the decorations are so pretty. Having a great hostess would set the dining experience off right and follow it up with amazing service from start to finish and this establishment could be a great spot for the Village at Waugh Chapel. I'll be back to see how it settles in to the newness of opening a new location. Eager to see the improvements in the next couple of months. See you soon!

The menu noted that the price was 16.49. When the young man brought me my food, I asked him to let me speak to the manager as she was the person who took my order. I showed her the overhead marquee and she responded that they have two and the wrong one was up. I didn't argue- although I could have. Instead I told her she might want to make sure she update the marquee if she wasn't going to honor the price. While there are a lot of young people who work here- the manager wasn't- thus her reply was not anchored in inexperience. I was disappointed that she didn't offer to make it right or acknowledge that it was their error. That's poor customer service. Usually service is good and the food tastes close enough to grandma's that it addresses the craving. Just check your receipt.

02/20/26 5 Stars **…read more Wife and I were in Annapolis for a doctor's appointment, and afterwards she asked, "Where are you taking me for lunch?" I jumped on Yelp and started searching. I had heard about a seafood place in Severna Park, but I wasn't in the mood for seafood. That's when I came across Betty Lou's. As soon as I looked at the food photos, I knew that's where we were headed. It was about a 20 minute ride from Annapolis not bad at all. Betty Lou's is located in a shopping center. There were a few cars in the lot when we pulled up, but I wasn't sure if they were there for the restaurant or other businesses nearby. When we walked in, there was one person sitting at the bar. We asked if we could sit there, and the bartender (don't remember her name) was very pleasant and welcoming. She thanked us for coming in, and when I mentioned I found the place on Yelp, she explained that everything is made fresh to order. They have an excellent selection of craft drinks on the menu, the assortment of cocktails and wines that look very good. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I had the Jimmy Red Old Fashioned. The drink looked fantastic, and she took her time carefully measuring each ingredient. That's how cocktails are supposed to be made balanced and flavorful, not just tasting like straight liquor. If I wanted that, I'd just order bourbon neat. For lunch, my wife ordered the meatloaf with collard greens and roasted potatoes. I had already decided on the chicken pot pie after seeing it online. I did find it a little strange they don't offer mashed potatoes as a side with meatloaf, that would've made it a home run in my opinion. When the food arrived, everything looked excellent. The pot pie was larger than I expected compared to the pictures, and the meatloaf was a generous portion as well. After the first bite, I can honestly say it was one of the best chicken pot pies I've had loaded with tender chicken, carrots, onions, celery, and a rich, flavorful gravy. And the pastry crust? The BEST I've ever had. It was big enough that I had leftovers for dinner. My wife's meatloaf was tender and flavorful, and the collard greens were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The roasted potatoes were just okay again, mashed would've put it over the top but that's just personal preference. She also had plenty leftovers for dinner. The food was great, the décor was nicely done, and the service was excellent. If this place were closer to home, it would definitely be a regular spot for us. We need something like this down in Calvert County. Overall, if you're looking for a great meal and well-crafted drinks, Betty Lou's is absolutely worth the drive even if you live a little ways away.

We were sat pretty quickly & our waitress was great. But half way through she handed us over to the bartender, who just seemed inconvenienced that we were there. My husband had just finished a beer when she took over (which was in a can, not a tap beer), she asked if he wanted another, he said yes, and brought some draught beer that definitely wasn't what he was drinking. We are very easy going, so that wasn't even the end of the world. But she wasn't very friendly so we just went with it. The food. We ordered rockfish bites for an app, chicken pot pie, bacon wrapped shrimp & Mac & cheese. I will say, everything came out quickly. Rockfish bites: Not only were they bland & salt-less, but not all of them were cooked all the way through. The bacon-wrapped shrimp were ok, but cold in spots. The chicken pot pie: This is the reason I came. Certainly you can't mess this up, seeing how my favorite pot pie is from KFC. My standards aren't that high. I wish I could add a photo to a low review. I've never seen the inside of a pot pie that was dark gray. It didn't look appetizing at all, but it's a pot pie so I'm not basing anything on appearance. Once I took a bite I realized that it was gray because there was SO MUCH ground thyme in it. Like they dumped a whole jar in there. It wasn't even edible. The Mac & cheese was really good, I wish I had just ordered that. Before you reply that we should have said something, we already felt like we were an inconvenience to the bartender & she didn't even care enough to serve the same beer that was originally ordered. We didn't even want to deal with her. So we chalked it up as a loss. Of over $100. This place is so cute, we really loved the ambiance & wanted to love the food. We definitely won't be back, but I don't think it's going to be around much longer anyway.

There was live jazz playing. I sat at the bar - shout out to Nnamdi who was the bartender and my waiter. Food wise: brunch only offers the $55 unlimited food option for two hours. I was completely fine with this as I was able to taste multiple dishes. I had the fried deviled eggs, Rockefeller oysters, bang bang shrimp, deep fried snow crab legs, pork chop and grits, wings in hot honey lemon pepper (their signature sauce) and the white chocolate bread pudding I enjoyed everything except the deep fried crab legs. The cluster was hallow. I had more fried batter than crab meat. Deviled eggs were my favorite of all the things I tried. And the bread pudding was sinfully delicious . I wasn't able to finish my last two items ordered but luckily I was able to fit it in the to-go box. I didnt know what exactly happened with tje packaging, so since I was told the problem was "fixed", I took my food and left. The worst part was the deviled egg appetizer. Another casualty of the kitchen, apparently. It looked unappetizing when I got home and opened it, and the crab topping that I paid an extra $3 for gave off a very strong smell (reminiscent of the kitchen of a seafood restaurent) and also appeared wet. I'd guess they took crab straight from a can, put it on top of the eggs, and covered it with old bay seasoning. Very disappointing. Sadly these were not the only issues, as the collard greens themselves were bland and a little tough. There was also a wooden stick in my greens?? Not sure why. Although the catfish was fried well, that's the only satisfactory thing about this experience, and everything else ruined it.

Also, the floor was dangerous slippery. A few of my family members almost slipped on our way to the table. I appreciated that we were sat when half of our party arrived. Service was somewhat slow and we had trouble flagging down our waiter when we needed something. We also weren't given drink menus until we asked several times. Also, the waiter forgot to put my food order in so my food came later than everyone else's. The food: -Steak and cheese eggrolls- They weren't my fave. According to the menu, they were supposed to be served with Chipotle mayo but we were given a sweet chili sauce which didn't work with the rolls. -Can't remember the name of the drink I had which wasn't on the menu but it was pretty good. -Salmon BLT was very good! Fries were perfectly crispy. Overall, good food but not the best experience. I don't think I'll be back to this location.

Turkey wings had the perfect edible skin but that crisp sacrificed the tenderness of the meat. It ate like white meat. Cabbage was not what I expected after seeing reviews and IG videos. Everything else was not bad, not good but decent if you choose not to cook for a day. Service as described in previous is GREAT! And it is more of a to-go place but inviting. I've been wanting to try...we have! The catfish I would go back for. It was not overly breaded nor overly seasoned. And the grill still has a good crunch to it. Give them a try and let us know what you think!

The young lady on the register gave us great customer service. She was friendly and welcoming, and super helpful. The owner was in the building. He was greeting customers coming out to the front checking on us great hospitality. But the food... They were busy and we still got our food with within 15 minutes. Everything was hot and fresh, but even more than that it was all delicious. We live about 40 minutes away and we plan to be back regularly.

Trash, Awful, Terrible, BAIT AND SWITCH. I saw the Instagram which made the food look good but this…read moreis far from good. The name "Soul Boat" definitely lured me in but instead I got canned greens and uncandid yams. I was beyond disappointed the moment I walked in but decided to give them a shot anyway because I was hungry. My wife and I ordered the following: Whiting Fish Platter, Shrimp Platter, along with fried Calamari. The platters come with two sides. The whiting platter I ordered I chose collard greens and candid yams. You can tell the greens came out the can. The amount of stems and blandness annoyed me from the first bit. The candid yams have nothing sweet about them. The fish was unseasoned can tasted like a filet that was just dumped in a deep fryer and pulled out. I threw most of this away outside of the fish. My wife ordered the shrimp platter with mac and cheese and greens. The shrimp are LARGE. Same problem with the greens. The Mac & Cheese just wasn't giving. I also ordered a side of Calamari. I took one bite and the trash that went as well. This didn't appear to be seasoned or cooked as well. The food here is awful. No clue how people eat here. Living off the soul name is ridiculous as mostly everything felt like it came out of a can. I'll never come back here and I'd advise you save your time and money. The only thing good about this place is the staff and the fancy bags your food comes in. I do not recommend.
