Super quick line and our food came out within what seemed like two minutes. My wife's pastrami and Swiss on marble rye was nice and lean and delicious, and my chicken salad on marble rye with tomato was good - a little too mayonnaisey for me. Cole slaw had a good taste - but again - a little wet and mayonaissey for us as well. All in all - everything was super fresh, great service, and good tasting. I'll have the pastrami next time. What an awesome go-to! The small deli is very casual and quick service, serving some of the best sandwiches in town! When you walk in, they're so quick and kind to greet you and take your order. The interior is typical of a family deli and gives you a nostalgic feel. We decided to get the surfer sandwich, hot pastrami, and Italian sandwich. I will have to admit that this was one of the BEST Italian sandwiches I've ever had. It was so flavorful and prepared so nicely, and the contents were perfectly packed and not falling out with every bite. I will say this place is giving Publix Subs a run for their money haha. The broccoli cheddar was decent but nothing i'd come back for, I was expecting something better than the one you typically find at a Panera. However, the chili was also a great addition to the hot pastrami sandwich. Both were very tasty and was nice to have some hot entrees. The surfer sandwich, we got to try alongside our entrees and it was just as great! I think every sandwich is a hit here and I think it is a stellar spot to stop for lunch. Maybe it's because I grew up in NJ that I like the very efficient "know what you want?" attitude. I read that others found the guy at the counter abrupt, I never have. He is helpful and gets that order placed quickly. The food is great, every sandwich is perfectly made. Meats are sliced really thin, but there is plenty of it. Ambiance? But the food was nothing but ordinary. I got The Surfer on wheat bread, which had ham, turkey, cucumber, Swiss cheese, and their special mayo-honey mustard sauce. And it was so delicious! We decided to check out a new spot for lunch today down in Sarasota by UTC, Anna's Deli. This is a small sandwich shop tucked back in a plaza off University Parkway. It is an interesting spot in that it looks older on the inside, but it is in a newer plaza. When we arrived at 11:40, the line was already to the door. Thankfully the moved quickly and we had our order placed in about 5 minutes. I decided to go with a pastrami reuben and my buddy went with the Cuban. We grabbed a seat and within minutes our names were called. My reuben looked pretty solid and it tasted even better. I normally like my reubens griddled, but this one didn't need it. It had great flavor and was very balanced. My buddy said the Cuban was really tasty. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch and we will definitely be back to try out other menu items. We noticed the fastest way in and out was to call in your sandwiches ahead of time. Great way to eat and run if you are in a hurry. read more

This place is an awesome local place. I had the Surfer sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I grew up in Sarasota but didn't know about this place until recently. This location near the Meadows (Parents live there) feels totally like an old-school laid-back deli. I'll plan on coming here (or the Siesta Key location) every time I'm back in Sarasota. read more

Cool sandwich My favorite Anna's Deli sandwich is their Surfer, a turkey and ham sandwich with Swiss cheese, thin slices of cucumber and their special mayo based Anna Sauce. They serve it on very soft fresh round slices of bread. The pile of paper thin sliced meat is cool, which to me makes the sandwich refreshing. I don't think I have ever tried anything but the Surfer, when I find something this good I stick with it. While I seldom make it to this location, I have eaten dozens and dozens of Surfers at other locations. Speaking of surfers, the décor has a Sarasota local with a beach and surfboard look. today i wanted to try Anna's Deli, because my name is Anna. I love a good deli so i was excited. the vibe inside the restaurant is kind of gloomy because there's not a lot of windows so if you sit towards the back then you're gonna be sitting in a large fluorescent room (reminds me of the back rooms if you know what that is) i was also freezing cold because i had caught pouring rain while walking in and so i was pretty cold so that wasn't helping. also sorry for lack of grammar im just mind dumping rn. the food came out fast. food was fresh. warm. tasted delicious. plate came with napkins which is nice. chicken salad was ok a little bland to be honest, if you like bland meat paste then it's totally for you. only thing that disappointed but still deserves 5 Stars nonetheless. good place to go on a little lunch date. thanks for reading. read more

A loss of 1 star due to the somewhat "gruff" service by the young lady that took our order. We were on vacation in the are and had never been here so we took a little bit reading the menu. No one was in front of us nor behind us yet she stood w/her hands on her hips and her attitude all over her face. I ordered the surfer and my husband got the corned beef. Both sandwiches were huge and delicious and we each had half leftover for lunch on the beach the following day. So 4 stars for the food and 1 lost for the less than friendly service. read more

Yum. What a great place. I ordered the fiesta because I love liverwurst. The sandwich was composed masterfully with just the right amount of raw onions to cut the fat from the meats and their house made dressing (mayo and mustard). The rye bread was great, however I wouldve liked a stronger rye flavor. Wife had the Cuban. She said it was to die for. Their Cuban meats were sliced razor thin. Very good. The potato salad was decent. Their pickles are great. It's a shame they only sell Pepsi products. Great staff, clean joint. Typical prices given the area. Bottom Line: We really liked Anna's. I really wanted to like this little deli, and they got the food right. But unfortunately their sales practices and ethical challenges make a return unlikely. I well understand the financial reasons why a small business needs to add on and increase their average ticket size. However if you attempt to upsell a customer, you need to tell them. It is not ethical to just add the price, forget to mention it and then not provide an itemized receipt. Let me just say that when I asked for an itemized receipt, I found i had been charged more for both the sandwich and for the breadtype. A couple bucks extra is not huge but ethics are not about the amount. Just tell the customer and don't attempt to just sneak it through. read more

My wife and I've eaten here twice in the last week. These are great sandwiches. I've had the pastrami/ham on marble and the wife a turkey sandwich. I've also gotten a shrimp/corn chowder soup.
