There's always a line whenever I pass by but it moves pretty fast. They're cash only but there is a ATM on site. My friend got the raspberry Italian ice and that was super flavorful and refreshing. I got the banana pudding ice cream. Flavor wise, it was on point but it was super sweet! I got a kids scoop and I wasn't able to finish it due to the sweetness. They have seatings along the wall but it's normally blocked by the line. They also had like 2 tables if you want to sit down to eat.
Came here on a Saturday after a street fair. The line was around the block. They had a lot of different flavors to choose from. I'd never had Italian ice before so I tried the lemon flavored Italian ice. It was refreshing but I think if I go back I would want to try an ice cream instead. It is a bummer they only take cash but there is an ATM right next to the window.
Friend and I shared: 1. Italian Fro-Yo - (mango) Italian ice layered in (raspberry) frozen yogurt 2. Puppy Chow ice cream topped with marshmallow sauce & mini m&ms I love the concept of Italian ice layered (not just topped ) with frozen yogurt. Both elements were good. Italian ice was not too sweet and didn't taste terribly artificial. Frozen yogurt and ice cream were creamy and tasty. No issues with service. There's a few tables in front of the order window.
Annette's Italian Ice is easily in the top two Italian ice places I've had in the city. It would easily be five stars but the older lady who took our order had a really nasty, rude energy (definitely gave off hostile, racist, unwelcoming vibes) when we were placing our order and that put off my friend from ever coming back here. The other girl working the counter definitely seemed nice but we were unlucky to have this woman who is hopefully not The Annette take our order. However, the Italian ice was so good that I was able to still have a delightful time (my friend not so much, sadly). I got the Italian froyo, which was the Italian ice mixed with the froyo. I got vanilla froyo (yum), dragonfruit-pear flavor (super yum), and the lychee (solid but I could skip this flavor).
Their dessert is to die for! My girlfriend loves going here, so we've already gone twice in such a short period. My favorite thing to get here is the Italian ice with froyo. It gives it such a nice texture, and you get a mix of flavors. My personal favorite is the banana with vanilla froyo. The service was quick and very good. They only take cash, so I'd recommend bringing some on hand. There is an atm there if needed. Theres usually a line when we go, but it moves relatively quick. The ambiance is outdoors, and there's a few seats. However, I noticed that majority of people just take it to-go since it's just a small window to order.

The line is always insane but a summertime Chicago staple! Cash only but there is an ATM right next to the order window. Tons of ice cream and Italian ice flavors! They also have froyo and soft serve. We tried the Eskimo kisses and moose tracks ice cream which were delicious but I definitely want to come back to try the Italian ice and soft serve! Annette's Italian Homemade Ice Cream on Armitage has quickly become one of my favorite stops whenever I'm on this shopping street. The line is often long, but don't let that scare you--the service is quick, and it moves faster than expected. They offer such a wide variety of flavors that it's hard to choose, but I went with the vegan raspberry frozen yogurt. It was incredibly soft, smooth, and refreshing--perfect for the heat. My friends picked different flavors, and I sampled a bit of theirs too; every single one was delicious. There isn't an indoor shop here--you just order from the window--but they do have patio seating, which makes it fun to sit outside and enjoy your treat. Must try Annette's as it was very delicious and a great summer treat that is light. I wanted to try a few flavors so I ordered a large with Lychee, Raspberry, and Guava-Orange-Passionfruit. They were all delicious! It is a cash only spot, but there is an ATM. There's some tables outside if you're lucky to stay and eat your dessert. read more

The italian ice here is definitely creamier, which isn't really my preference. The orange guava passionfruit was a lot more flavorful than the mango. Overall, tons of flavors to choose from. Be prepared for a long line that moves pretty quickly. Be aware this place is CASH ONLY!! There is an ATM thankfully :) It's a super cute place and i'm looking forward to trying their ice cream. read more

The sea turtle is hands down the best ice cream flavor I've ever had, it has chocolate turtles full of caramel which add such a good crunch to the creamy bite. I wouldn't recommend the Italian ice unless you add froyo to it. The line may be intimidating but it goes by quick! read more

Felt super weird going to a place with "Italian ice" in the name and getting ice cream, but I swear they are known for that too - if you're someone who suffers from decision fatigue this may not be the spot for you. there were so many ice cream flavors. not to mention Italian ice, frozen yogurt, milkshake, sundae options! - I got the anniversary cake ice cream with marshmallow sauce. the pairing was killer, the sauce was oddly flavorful without being sickly sweet. the ice cream had full chunks of vanilla cake in it, but unfortunately, the ice cream itself did not have that much flavor. it was very subtle. you could've told me it was a vanilla ice cream with cake chunks. - the mint cookie was the opposite! super minty ice cream with chunks of oreo. we got "oreo crumbs" on this one and these were certainly more CHUNKY than crumby. super yummy - the ice cream was thick and had that stretchy texture as you pulled your spoon away - it's just a window to order but luckily had a few outdoor dining tables. the place is cash only which I despise with my whole chest read more
A line that was around the block the whole evening! So worth the wait some of the best flavors i've had. How ice can be this creamy, i do not know. I got the blueberry lemon, passionfruit raspberry (my favorite), and pomegranate. Didn't taste artificial or syrupy, but the blueberry lemon was a bit blander than the other two. I loved the real fruit chunks, it didn't take away from the consistency. My friend did get lychee which had a slight artificial flavor, but thats lychee for ya. Would stand in line everytime. 10/10 loveeee the Italian ice!! I personally like it better than the ice cream. My favorite combo is the dragonfruit-pear and lychee. So amazing I came back the next day with no shame. First time here and it was great! I got to try the mango and coconut Italian ice which I loved! Loved that they're open pretty late compared to other places. They have a lot of menu options not just Italian ice which my family was happy about! The employees are super kind and jolly which was nice. I tried my Daughter's watermelon flavor and hers smelled better than it tasted.. not sure what it was but something about it tasted artificial. My other Daughter had chocolate ice cream which she said was good and flavorful. Only inconvenience is they only accept cash but there is an atm beside their business so it's not a huge biggie. Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu items! read more

Loved Annette's!! There are soooo many options and flavors per option it was honestly hard to decide. We all agreed that the frozen yogurt and Italian ice was the best and I will definitely get that next time. Cash only!!! read more
