I couldn't refuse and tried the black sesame and lychee ice creams- the first had a very strong flavor and the second was super interesting with the chunks of boba. Definitely unique with a fun twist. I decided on the mango and ube soft serve swirl and it was so refreshing and divine- not at all too sweet! The ube flavor, which I find often gets lost in desserts, came through really well. The prices are a bit high, but even the small size came with a generous portion and the taste is high quality. Kurimu opened in Lincoln park this year and I was so excited for a warm day to get some ice cream! Their space is modern and pretty cool. I liked the multi-level bench which was fun to sit at some non-traditional seating to eat. Even though the guy making the ice cream was right there, you order on the iPad system which felt a little odd considering if you wanted a sample, he had to get it for you. They have both soft serve and regular ice cream, but there is nothing standard about their flavors which I loved! The unique range of options made me want to try everything. I sampled the purple yam which was delicious and unique and I'd like to come back and order it. I was in a soft serve mood so i got the special which was a mango mochi parfait. I think their soft serve flavors are rotating as I've seen them have matcha and ube soft serve in the past. I am usually prefer chocolate over fruity when it comes to ice cream, but I really enjoyed this! It was quite unique and refreshing. While visiting town for a work event, I spent $40 on Ubers so that I could come and try the Miffy ice cream while the Miffy collaboration is still going on. I say worth it. The mango sticky rice ice cream I was recommended and got is some of the best I've had yet. It had what tasted like pieces of soft mango mochi in it, which gave it a nice chew. They were unfortunately out of the swirl yesterday when I went, but I tried some of their ice cream flavors (they let you sample them before you pick) and they're all so good! I've been to the wicker and Taylor locations. This one opened closer to our condo so we decided to go to get the Stan's collab offering (affogato) which is only avail through the end of august. Kurimu is one of my favorite ice cream shops in the city! So when I saw there was a new location popping up (slightly) more north of the city, I was stoked! And once I saw their rotating soft serve flavor was pandan and black sesame, it definitely shot to the top of my list for desserts to try ASAP! Decided to stop by after dinner on a weeknight. Parking was okay, it can be a bit tricky in LP. Your best bet is just paying street parking rate on Halsted, but I'm pretty sure the neighborhood parking is permit required starting at 6pm. The space from the outside is really easy to miss honestly. We had to do a double-take because the signs weren't really noticeable. Once inside though, the space is really nice. Very similar to their other locations with the use of neon lights. Seating was plentiful and there was a steady trickle of people coming in while we were eating. Anyways, ordered the swirl in a cup and it ended up being around $9. The flavors were definitely great and exactly what I expected haha. Nice strong black sesame and pandan flavors. The only nitpicks I really have are I feel like the soft serve was a bit icier than I'd like and in general I do feel like it's a bit pricy (adding a cone is an additional $3). But in general, it's a tasty treat worth splurging on every once in a while. Overall though, a very welcome addition to the neighborhood and I'll definitely be back when the next soft serve flavor rolls around! read more

I love the natural light that this location gets vs Wicker Park. The entire place was decked out in Miffy which was so cute. The staff were also kind. Kurimu is always a great spot to get ice cream! The first time I went here with a friend she suggested I get the Messy Boba. You choose which soft serve flavor you want with it out of the two they rotate monthly. April is ube and pandan (light vanilla, coconut, and almond flavor) and I decided to swirl the two. On top of that, they put boba pearls, black sugar syrup, and a sweet plastic shovel to eat it with! I always trust the flavor swirl combination of the month and they always compliment each other. Service can take long when only one person is working, but they are perfecting a masterpiece before they hand it over to you to take a selfie with. For example, right now they have a Miffy collab, where they add a little face to the ice cream to make it look like that cute, little bunny Miffy! They also have hard ice cream in flavors such as purple yam, Thai iced tea, sweet corn, tiramisu, black sesame, and lychee pearl. The flavors and textures are my favorite and unique compared to competitors. I never really hang-out at this location as the seating area doesn't look comfy and typically take this ice cream on a stroll around the neighborhood. Im a big fan of Kurimu so was excited to try out the Lincoln Park location! I got a scoop of the blueberry cheesecake which was fantastic. The server was really nice and patient, as we tried quite a few flavors. This location was way less busy than the ones in Wicker Park and Little Italy, but has a lot more indoor space as well. Maybe I went at a bad time (Saturday night), but I was actually pretty disappointed in this new location! The actual flavor of the drinks were delicious, BUT there was barely any boba in mine and it took legitimately at least 10 minutes to make our two drinks (with no one else there)... I think the person working was very new and didn't have much knowledge/training yet. This slow service, combined with the sterile atmosphere and lack of decor, made it a pretty disappointing experience, especially compared to the other locations! The one on Taylor street is so much cuter, busier, more fun, better decorated, better drinks (with enough boba), and faster service. I'll give this another try to see if I just got unlucky, but even the decor and atmosphere were lacking! Hope they put some effort into making this location more appealing like the others, and training the staff well. read more

Right out the gate the Taylor street and Wicker park locations of Kurimu are 5 star all day. But this location is like the dumpster child of the three...What happened?...Garbage selection and no selections of unique speciality flavors like the other spots...Service is terrible...No air conditioning on all 3 visits so it's sweltering hot...Even the decor has been knocked down a peg or two here...The vibe is just all around bad...Its like a bad clone of Kurimu Note to management: Please take a look at the other spots and do that...Especially the Wicker Park location. read more
