The best dessert in all of Napa, no joke. Got these at Ritual Coffee in Oxbow Market. The dough itself in these little mounds of cookies is so fresh and delectable, not too sweet and so soft. For literally our entire trip, we had these awesome cookies at Ritual Coffee in the Oxbow each morning. Then we saw the clear cookie jars of them in the back of Michael Chiarello's Napa Style store in Yountville. We were already in love with these perfectly sized, soft cookies at that point, so when we saw the booth at the farmers market at the Oxbow on Tuesday we were excited. And we met Annie Baker - that's right, that's her name! - and we were even MORE in love with these chubby, perfectly-sized, doughy textured cookies with the big flavors afterwards. What a sweetheart! She told us that she ships, and packaged our cookies thoughtfully so that the ginger one didn't comingle with the others. Every single cookie flavor is elevated to be its very best. These are what cookies aspire to be: Oatmeal Double Chocolate - toothy, oatmeal-y, chocolate chunks Sugar Rainbow - one of my faves! Sprinkled with rainbow colored sugar crystals, and doughy goodness all throughout Good Golly GinMolly - a ginger cookie, covered with sugar crystals, doughy and gingerbready, with pieces of candied ginger within Toffee Milk Chocolate - another one of my faves! Doughy, studded with chocolate covered toffee pieces that were oozy Choco Loco - dark, buttery Guittard cookie dough with chocolate chips. The flavor of a chocolate shortbread, and the texture of a soft cookie. Ahhhhmazing! Semisweet Chocolate - chunks throughout, this is a classic Peanut Butter Extreme - omg, peanut butter-y to the max, with milk chocolate chunks throughout Tuxedo Macadamia - chocolate chunks and macadamia pieces! We found this one at Napa Style, so we had to try it If you love a good cookie, and a really doughy-textured one, you've GOT to try these! Annie the Baker brings creativity&joy to her "cookies for those who prefer cookie dough." Now that edible (safe?) cookie dough has become a thing, Annie the Baker was in on it before.... well, it was a thing. All of her cookies are soft, gooey, and sweetly delicious. Overworking dough can ruin things in baking, and so can overbaking (not just when it ends up burnt) Annie has a light touch.... with her cookies, and her customers. She's been a jubilant presence at the Napa Farmer's Market for years, back when they were at the parking lot at Copia. Her SugaRainbow is excellent, glittery rainbow sprinkles atop a sugar cookie. This was from before glittery rainbow food was trending on Instagram. At the Napa Farmer's Market, it's accompanied with the sign "As seen on TV"(???) She also makes a seasonal one with mini M&Ms, full of sweetness. I'm planning to try the Bumpy Road (fudge with marshmallows) and her Penguin cookie (in honor of the Pittsburgh Penguins, fudge with white chocolate chips) Her cookies make a great accompaniment with the caffeinated drinks at Ritual Coffee. After reading reviews I was excited to try Annie's cookies at a local deli. Maybe they were old? We got the rainbow sugar and toffee milk chocolate. Both had a slightly sour taste and just no flavor. The chocolate chips in the toffee cookie were good, but the dough itself was flavorless, and the sugar cookie kind of smelled like playdough. Annie's are the best cookies in the Napa Valley - and that is saying something! We often crave them here in Santa Monica. When we crave them, we place an order and Annie ships them to us. We also give her cookies as gifts during the holidays and for birthdays, of course. They are perfect gifts. Once tasted, you will crave Annie's cookies as well. The best, of course, is to catch up with Annie at the Farmer's Market. But barring that, there are several businesses in the area that sell her wares. So if, for whatever reason, when we are in the Napa Valley but we cannot overlap Annie and The Farmer's Market, we go to one of those businesses and stock up. They are listed on her website. Annie, herself, is a delight. Sweet, charming, welcoming and a Master Baker! She is gifted. Our favorite cookie of Annie's is Peanut Butter Extreme! (The name says it all.) Followed closely by Penguin - cocoa cookie dough and white chocolate chips (get it?) - they are so terrific! O but what about the superb Tuxedo Macadamia? YES! Well, as a self proclaimed cookie connoisseur, I have tried a lot of cookies in my day. I am very rarely pleased. These are, hands down, the best cookies I have ever had (besides my wife's of course). Consistency and texture is amazing. Flavors are real and intense. My daughter found Annie The Baker when she was working in Napa over 2 years ago. She loved them so much that instead of cake at their wedding two years ago they had Annie's cookies and ice cream.
