Summary: Annie's used to be SO good. It's really a shame how badly this restaurant has declined. I can't rate service or atmosphere because I ordered to go, but overall the meal was 2/5 stars. Here's why: Ordered via GrubHub. Cutthroat catfish sandwich: $19.50 (Came with a handful of soggy fries) Side of Mac & cheese: $9.10!!!! Side of candied yams: $7.80 Side of greens: $6.50 Cali Sunset drink: $5.20 Side of muffins/"magic butter": $2.60 Subtotal: $50.70 before tax Delivery/Wait Time: 1 hour 18 mins Mac & cheese: This is by far the nastiest Mac & cheese I have EVER had. And I'm so confused because Annie's had AMAZING Mac & cheese prior to their ghost kitchen move during the pandemic. This bs is so DRY and literally CRUNCHY. I can understand maybe the top layer having a crunch/char, but why is every. bite. CRUNCHY???? This is the only pic I included because you can literally see how utterly dry ts is for almost $10 for a SIDE. Greens: Hardly any smoked turkey, but a really good taste. Not too salty. Candied yams: Very mushy texture, so much sugar you lose the yam taste altogether. Cutthroat catfish: Had a strange, sour after taste. Could be because it took so long to get to me? But the bread they use is regular white bread so it was soggy and stuck to the foil when the food finally got to me. Three pieces of fish on two pieces of white bread. The hot honey sauce is good, but I couldn't finish it because I couldn't get past that sour aftertaste. Cali Sunset drink: Could have been really good had it not been so watered down. You can tell they fill the cup to the brim with ice before pouring the drink because it just tastes like sweetened water, like a drink you dilute for a little kid. Taste not bad, but maybe they should put less ice or no ice and charge for ice on the side, idk. Overall: All in all, it's really sad to see a restaurant decline this way. I have a feeling thr pandemic shook them up financially and I am empathetic to that, but $50 for this pathetic, soggy meal is NOT the move in this economy. They really should stop doing delivery/to go over 5 miles because their food doesn't travel well. And they need to take Mac & cheese off the menu altogether. I would rather eat the fake cheese, Velveeta Mac from El Pollo Loco before I ever eat this again. And for $9! I haven't been this disappointed by Annie's EVER. Well well well my kids always say I'm susceptible to advertising lol and I saw an instagram post about this place . Omg it did not disappoint. Everything I got was excellent. Some of the best collard greens ever. Fried chicken plain was perfection. Mac and cheese some of the best I ever had and I can cook. The peach cobbler was even better the sweet Peach and sweet peach is fire. Service was quick and excellent. I wish they had the soul rolls and the potato salad like they do at the other location . I've never heard of "the other location", but THIS location does it for me the ambiance of restaurant is a pickup/to go type setting, The service is always good when I come in. I've come here twice and both times the food was REALLY GOOD. The 2nd time I got the fried chicken combo and that was 10/10 as well. I want to try the oxtail combo next. I hope this restaurant becomes a neighborhood staple. There aren't many/any GOOD soul food restaurants in the area. read more

Tried Annie's Soul Delicious at the Hawthorne location recently and I'm glad it's only about 10-15 minutes from my place because I can definitely see myself coming back. It's take-out only, but the food travels really well. The greens with smoked turkey and the red beans with smoked meat were easily my favorites. Both had so much flavor and tasted like they had been cooking all day. Definitely the standouts for me. The wing dings were another highlight. They came coated in a hot honey-style sauce that had a nice balance of sweet and heat. We also had the lemon pepper shrimp and slow-cooked short ribs with rice, which were both really satisfying. One sleeper hit was the OMG Banana Pudding. Honestly, it might be one of the best banana puddings I've had. I wasn't expecting much from dessert, but it ended up being one of the most memorable things we ordered. Placed a door dash order waited an hour to get my food only to have things missing. I called to ask for extra cornbread didn't receive any in my order at all in my veggie plate. I called to confirm everything would be in my order before I placed it only got them to not send it. Mac and cheese too dry 3 stars, yams 4 stars, cabbage 3 stars need more seasonings probably would have tasted better with the missing cornbread, red beans & rice 3 stars rice was undercooked, cornbread dressing 5 stars taste better than most restaurants. I hate the beef link with collards and red beans n rice. . The food was ok but the wait was so long. My coworkers had ordered the Mac and cheese and they dint tell us until about 30 mins in they were still making the Mac and Cheese. After about 75 mins our plates started coming out. The beef link was fine but covered in a bbq sauce I had to scrape off. Too sweet. The collards and red beans n rice were above average. Borderline great. There is a fan that goes off everytime the door opens that is deafeningly loud. It's take out with 5-6 chairs. Which with people waiting for Jan hour plus was cramped. read more

Food taste great. Portion size is extremely small for price. $25 for barbecue chicken dinner (thigh / wing only) and three small sizes. Also, they forgot to include corn bread. If size portions doesn't matter, then I would recommend. For $25, I would think that they would have included a half chicken, (thigh, wing, breast, leg). Will I be returning? Most likely not. I had the chicken wings with fries and Mac and cheese from Annie's. It was a to go order. The service was excellent. I enjoyed my lemon pepper wings because I could taste the lemon. The French fries was very delicious. The max and cheese was good. I like the mini corn breads but I wish it was one big corn bread muffin. read more

I tried the barbecue chicken dinner with mac and cheese greens and yams and the peach cobbler. I didn't like it! The chicken was tough and lacked flavor the mac and cheese was ok nothing special the yams were puréed it was not solid chunks and was super sweet and it tasted like it was heavily made with vanilla extract and karo syrup the greens were ok tasted like liquid smoke was added. The peach cobbler was a straight disappointment . It was congealed like bread pudding which could've been due to the fact that it wasn't temperatured correctly by storing hot to cold too quickly. A small cup cost $7.00 and was inedible. The only thing I did like was the corn bread and the butter that come with it was not good it tasted like wax. read more

When I tell you I want to square up with Annie... I've followed Annie's Soul Delicious on instagram for a couple years now, hoping one day to try it. Found out there was a Hawthorne location, which is within my area, I was beyond excited! They opened at 11, I was there at 11:01! Ordered fried chicken, brisket, 3 orders of yams, 2 mac and cheese, cabbage, red beans and rice with smoked meat, greens, and 3 peach cobblers! Paid a little over $100 for this food. I was SO disappointed. Mac and cheese was soggy. Cook the noodles al dente because it's going in the oven to cook some more. Beans and rice... doctored up Zatarans. Who messes up yams? Annie. Undercooked and missing the basic seasoning. Greens, salty. Y'all hyped this food up for so long, I was super disappointed when i tried it. Fried chicken was okay just looked a little undercooked. My man had the brisket and that was the only thing he ate. Peach cobbler was very underwhelming. Long story short, I threw away all the sides and dessert. Anyone giving this place a 5 star, don't know good soul food, or this place is a hit or miss. read more

Food 10/10 customer service from boogie 20/10. We ordered on door dash as we had been seeing on ig. We got the cornbread bowl and the oxtail plate and 2 house drinks. When the food was delivered our drinks were not in the bag. I promptly called the store to let them know our drinks were not in the bag and they offered to send an Uber with the missing items for us. However, the DoorDash was already on the way back. They sent our drinks along with an extra pudding to make it right. The food was so flavorful every item will be back. read more
