Tev's Kitchen is a authentic Jamaican restaurant that is located in the city of Gardena, this is his second restaurant. We came here after church for lunch, they open up at 1:00 so we had to wait in a line till staff came out and took everyone order, then we waited to enter a diffrent door fron the people that were dining in, so we had to wait in the same line to pay, there was free mints and purified water with cups as you wait. I was hungry as a hostage tonight and wanted something different not the same ole same ole so I got in my car and wound up at Tev's Kitchen. This was definitely different so I walked in and the vibe was cool and put me in a island mood so I ordered some Oxtails and your choice of mac&cheese, rice&peas or cabbage I chose Mac and cheese. They said it would be a 20 minute wait and the total came close to $80 bucks!! suddenly I wasn't in a island mood anymore I crash landed back on American soil, the restaurant is nice and clean and of course they have the incense flowing. I got my food and headed home and went I got home and dug in I must say that the Oxtails were pretty damn good and the lemon pepper wings were straight !! Had a great takeout experience at Tev's Kitchen in Gardena. Parking can be challenging during busy hours (I arrived around 6:45 PM), but the crowd speaks for itself. The atmosphere was lively, with music videos on a giant screen and an authentic Jamaican vibe throughout the spacious dining areas. The service was friendly, attentive, and full of great menu suggestions. The jerk chicken wings and drummettes were outstanding--smoky, slightly sweet, and packed with flavor. The mac and cheese was perfectly balanced, while the cabbage and broccoli were seasoned exceptionally well. The catfish had a crispy exterior with tender, flaky fish inside. The Kool-Aid was a nostalgic treat--sweet with just enough tartness to keep you coming back for more. Expect a wait during peak times, and there are currently no delivery options, but calling ahead for pickup is a good idea. I absolutely love this place! From the moment you walk in, the service is friendly and welcoming, from entering to ordering to getting your food. You really feel taken care of the whole time. The inside is very spacious with plenty of seating, and I loved the interior. Parking can be a little limited, but there is a lot plus some street parking in the front and on the side, so just keep that in mind. Now the FOOD... I got the hot honey wings over mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and broccoli, plus a side of catfish with cajun garlic butter. Everything was incredibly well seasoned. The catfish was perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the Cajun garlic butter had just the right amount of spice. It complemented it so well. The broccoli was buttery and packed with flavor. I loved that the wings were served on top of the mashed potatoes because the sauce soaked in and made them even better. The mashed potatoes themselves were super buttery with a good amount of pepper, which I personally loved. The wings were crispy with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce that was sooo good. The mac and cheese was creamy and full of flavor too. The meal also came with Kool Aid. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but still really good and a nice touch. Honestly, I loved everything I got and can't wait to come back. Just a heads up, the menu rotates, so make sure to check what they're serving. Tev's Kitchen is worth all of the hype, all of it. I'm glad they put a location closer to me. The portions are great and the food is literally amazing. Definitely comfort food forsure! I was eating on this plate for two day its was so much food. It's a little pricey but I think it's worth it. Definitely not something I'd eat often because it was heavy, but definitely a nice little treat. I got a jerk salmon plate with garlic sauce in the side. I also got mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, and cabbage. Everything was 10/10. Like finger licking good. The establishment was nice, it gave lounge vibes. I also got koolaid I personally am not a fan of koolaid so I did add a bunch of water because it was super sweet but yes definitely recommend! I completely understand the challenges that come with opening a second location, but that shouldn't come at the expense of food quality. I decided to treat a friend to lunch and placed an order totaling four plates and two sides--about $150--and I left disappointed. To start, the ambiance and setup of this location are beautiful. However, when we arrived, there were people waiting for food but almost no one dining in, which raised some concern. The wait time was about 45 minutes, which I understand if food is made to order--but timing and flow definitely need improvement. There was also an issue with our order: the cashier accidentally left off one of our items, which we didn't realize until after waiting. We had to reorder and wait even longer. While frustrating, I understand mistakes happen in a busy environment. The bigger issue was the food quality. My friend's jerk salmon portion was extremely small and inconsistent, especially considering she paid for a full box. Thankfully, the cashier corrected it, but that prompted me to check the rest of our food--and I'm glad I did. My son's catfish was very disappointing. The batter was gritty, soft instead of crispy, and didn't adhere properly to the fish. The portion was thin and noticeably smaller than what I've received at the other location. It also tasted like the oil was old, which affected the flavor significantly. The macaroni and cheese was honestly the worst part--dry, lacking cheese, and overall poor quality. It was mostly pasta with little flavor. We ended up sending all of our plates back. What should have been a simple fix turned into another hour wait. During this time, the owner came out. I understand he may have been stressed, but his approach was off-putting. Instead of greeting or introducing himself professionally, he said, "Talk to me, I'm here now." The tone felt dismissive. After I explained the issues, he didn't respond and simply walked away. That lack of acknowledgment made it feel like customer feedback wasn't valued. I've supported this business for a long time, so this experience was especially disappointing. Quality control is clearly needed--someone should be checking plates before they go out to customers. If my food was subpar, it's likely others received the same. At this point, I would not recommend this location just yet. I'll continue supporting the original location, where the quality has been consistent. I may revisit in the future after improvements are made. For now, I'd rate this location a 5/10. The steak was good, the cabbage was solid, and the mashed potatoes were okay--but the catfish and mac and cheese missed the mark completely. I truly hope they take feedback like this seriously, because the community wants to support businesses that maintain both quality and strong customer service. In addition, the restaurant never provided directly to me the missing meal. I had to leave after an additional hour and my friend reported to me that when they finally called the number on the order there were 3 people that said they had the same number. Came here for lunch today, so conveniently located around the corner from my job, the service was great, the guy that took my order was patient as I was also ordering for other people, he even took the time to actually talk on the phone w my coworkers to correctly get the order, it took about 15 minutes for me to get my food. As a longtime fan of Tev's Kitchen and a frequent customer of the original location, I was excited to visit the new Gardena restaurant. The food did not disappoint. As always, everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The catfish was excellent, the salmon was cooked well, and the quality of the food continues to be what keeps us coming back. That said, the ambiance was nice but the overall experience at this new location was a bit lackluster. The entry process felt unnecessarily complicated and made the experience feel more like entering a museum than a restaurant. As a first-time visitor to this location, it wasn't immediately clear where to go or how the ordering process worked. The front counter staff member appeared to be managing both phone orders and in-person customers at the same time, which made service feel divided and less attentive. I understand that this is a new location and there may still be some growing pains as operations are being worked out, but the customer experience suffered as a result. The biggest issue was the wait time. Since most of the sides appeared to be pre-prepared, and the only items being cooked for our order were a piece of catfish and a piece of salmon, I was surprised that the wait exceeded 25 to 30 minutes. A more realistic expectation would have been closer to 12 to 15 minutes, or at the very least better communication regarding the delay. I remain a supporter of Tev's Kitchen and will continue to visit because the food is consistently outstanding. My hope is that as the Gardena location settles into its rhythm, the service, efficiency, and overall guest experience will improve to match the high quality of the food. read more

My bf and I have been going to Tev's in Los Angeles for a long time every time we crave a good soul feeding meal. Living in Anaheim , we were so happy to hear they were opening a second location closer to home. We made the drive and upon arrival , I did notice the parking lot was small , but we did find parking without a problem. The security guard was super friendly and made us feel super welcomed. The wait time for the food was no longer than 15 minutes. The food its self was so good , just like the location in LA. Only thing I wish , is that we can place our order ahead online. I waited almost an hour for my order, and it was a complete rip-off. $28 for just two small pieces of catfish? I could've gone to a fish market and gotten a whole pound for that price. To make it worse, the catfish had zero seasoning--no flavor at all. The macaroni and cheese was just okay, but the cabbage was bland with no seasoning or meat, and the mashed potatoes were just as tasteless. Honestly, I don't even know how those sides are supposed to go with catfish. In total, I spent $68 on two dinners, including a ribeye steak that also had no seasoning whatsoever, along with the same bland sides. Nothing stood out except how disappointing everything was. This place is seriously overhyped. I won't be coming back. Also, be careful in the parking lot--it's overcrowded and feels chaotic. My boy friend came on WEDENSDAY 4/15/26 to get us some food he got catfish , broccoli , mash potatoes and Mac and cheese for him wings ( jerk sauce on the side) mash potatoes , broccoli and Mac and cheese ! Chicken wings lacked flavor it was a bad taste to them , Jerk sauce watery n nasty n wasn't spicy at all no spice Mac n cheese tasted powdery and just nasty No way was I even trying the mash potatoes that my chicken was placed on top of Broccoli was the only good thing ! Tasted my boyfriend fish again flavor was nasty . Safe to say 60 dollars later u threw that food away and was hungry still oh the punch was really good. Safe to say I won't ever return but for the other people who loved the food keep supporting this business it just wasn't for me . I went to their South LA location on 5/17/26. I got the oxtail and jerk chicken combo, with generous portions of oxtails, chicken, rice and peas with gravy and savory mac and cheese and cabbage. Kool-aid was perfect and I usually do not drink Kool-aid. I also ordered a Pineapple Ginger drink that was refreshing. I paid with tip about $50 but the plate was so huge and generous it took me three days to eat it, every bite was scrumptious, EVERY BITE. It was worth the hour wait time. I've been craving this plate since its just it's over an hour trip to head down there. I just happened to go because I had to go to LAX. But I'm going to make a dedicated trip back soon. read more

The aroma we smelled in line built up our appetite. The fried catfish was amazing. I recommend getting it with the cajun butter to drizzle on top. It was so good. The hot honey wings that were recommended by the cashier were amazing. The jerk shrimp had so much flavor and they were a very nice sized shrimp. I got extra jerk sauce. The cabbage and macaroni and cheese were fire. The mashed potatoes were served underneath the jerk shrimp so the jerk juice was gravy on the mashed potatoes. Yum. I even got a free glass of Kool Aid with my purchase. So refreshing. The menu is served on a rotating basis so options change daily I believe. I will be back one day when I have time to wait in the long lines they typically have at this restaurant. I recommend coming early because they do run out of food before Closing time sometimes.
