I called Ann Wu Skincare today to inquire about making an appointment. I use to go to Youthderm (Lydia owner) in Temple City for several years, to get facial or several surface moles removed, but unfortunately she retired about 2 or 3 years ago. So, I was referred by a friend about Ann Wu Skincare, who provides similar service, which I tried calling her today, to speak with her. Now, I am an African-American male (non-Asian) but my wife of 19 years is Chinese American and we have 2 daughters. To continue, upon calling & speaking to Ann today by phone, I experienced the most unprofessional and discriminatory encounter from her. Before I could give my reason for calling & referral, along with my past experience with Youthderm etc, she seem to judge me (by voice) and shut down any chance of me making appointment and hung the phone up on me. It was quite hurtful to experience this especially, because Lydia (Youthderm) who is Asian and whom I was a customer for several years, was so awesome and caring. So, I just wanted to make aware of this unprofessionalism in this day and age, especially when I expressed kind interest in Ann Wu's service, but I was met with discrimination. No one should experience this by any professional small or large business that provides service to the public. read more

This review is for semi-permanent brows tattoo only. So this is the second time I get my brows tattooed. I did my first time in Korean Town with Sherry. I was pleased with the results until I met Anne. She showed me how a pair of perfect brows should look like. Of course, it takes about 2 hours to finish. ( Compared to The K-town lady Sherry only spent 15 minutes on me....) First thing first, I got anesthesia gel with plastic wrap on my brows. The numbing process takes about 20 minutes. Then Anne will remove the numbing gel and design the shape of my brows with me. She gives me professional opinion and she also listens to my opinion. She draws the perfect shape I want then uses a pen to dot the frame. Second procedure is to actually tattoo the brows. I have black hair and brows, however since I dyed my hair to a lighter color, I picked lighter brown color for my brows instead of dark brown. The tattoo procedure is pretty tolerable, she kept checking on me to see if the anesthesia still works. If I felt a lot of pain, she would stop and give me more numbing gel. The blade is disposable. This is very important as it keeps everything and everyone clean! I felt little pinch. The entire process is pretty manageable. I did have Anne stopped for second round numbing gel. But I'm very sensitive so it's kind of expected for me. After initial tattoo is done. Anne gave me some cool gel so I can apply on my brows and it helps the wounds (little strokes) to heal fast. You are not supposed to wash your brows with water the first day. But after the first night, I washed my face regularly. My brows were full healed in 4 days. Then the scar tissue fell off completely in about a week and half. After that, it's completely natural looking. I got my free touch up in a month. It's free by the way. To be honest, I don't even have to touch up cause the results was perfect. But I still came in to touch up and get my brows even more perfect! The touch up process is pretty much similar to the initial tattoo process. Just shorter and faster. The after tattoo care procedure is the same. Avoid water the first night! After all I'm super satisfied. I didn't do much research the first time and I felt I got fooled! This time I'm fully informed and all the YouTube videos I checked out have the same kind of steps! (Again I have to say the K-Town lady skipped so many steps to speed up her clients!) The tattoo is supposed to last for at least 3-4 years! OMG the last time I did it, they told me it only last for 6 months! I will definitely recommend everyone who has less brow hair and has gaps in brows get the semi-permanent brows makeup. Life saver! I got a great facial today, the best I have ever had. The place is neat, clean and cutely decorated. The locker room is also neat and you can put your personal belongings. The staff is super friendly and skillful, cleans every area in my face. They also helped me shave my eyebrow. They also do a little shoulder and arm massage, where most other places don't. I've been coming to this place for facial over 4 years. Let be be more clear: I bought a 10 facial package 4 years ago, and then after 7 facials, life got really busy and I stopped going there and had forgot about the facial package I bought. When my skin took a turn and got a bit problematic this year, I thought about Annwu Skin Care, and was wondering if I can still use whatever was left in my facial package ( coz it's been so long ). I've been here for acne & blackhead treatment for years and my skin gets much clear and clean... My skin type is sensitive so I was a little bit worried about the use of steam machine but it turned out perfectly OK... And Anne's always friendly and professional about my skin condition... Nice decor. There is a changing room and they provide you with a locker. Equipment - It looks clean. I wish the extractions were done less painfully. I hate it when the estheticians say "you have a lot of black heads". "Well....that's why I come to you to get them out!!!". I really want to say that but they've got pointy objects poking at your face. I wish they had the laser machine to zap your face to get rid of germs but they didn't use it. They only used a facial mask too (the one's you just slap on). My face didn't feel and look especially bright white and clear but I liked how my esthetician Ying shaped my eyebrows. The decor is very good and the place is clean and relaxing. They have a cute dressing room. What I did not enjoy was too much talking while I was trying to relax. And the ladies were pushing me too hard throughout the session to purchase the membership. The eyebrow plucking was more painful than necessary and the shaping wasn't very good. I am always satisfied every time i go in and with the amazing results I have received. Annie is very professional and experienced at what she does.
