Another one of those instances where I'm finally getting around to take a meal at a place that's very popular here in Baton Rouge - Another Broken Egg's Citiplace location. I ordered the huevos rancheros which came with country potatoes. Since I really only enjoy shredded hash browns, the waitress offered to substitute grits which I appreciated. I also ordered a side order of sausage patties, my go-to indulgence for any breakfast out. The eggs on the huevos rancheros were a bit overcooked, not runny at all. The taste was OK, but it was a difficult bowl to eat. The base of the dish was either tortilla chips or pita chips (couldn't really tell which) covered with black beans, some cheese and then the eggs. On the side they presented a small condiment bowl of salsa and sour cream. The dish definitely needed both as it was on the dry side. The taste of the dish was pleasant enough once you added the salsa and sour cream, the chips were toasted before the dish was layered. Although that added a nice crunch, it was extremely difficult to eat as they were too tough to cut through with a knife and fork and too large to eat without cutting into smaller portions. The grits were okay, nothing to rave about. The sausage patties were not well seasoned and VERY greasy. At the time that I arrived which was on a Monday for breakfast (approximately 8:45 a.m.) there were very few other patrons dining and I was seated at a two-top since I was alone. The small table was not the issue in itself. However, the fact that the table was very wobbly which the waitress noticed but made no attempt to level it out by placing something under one of the legs (or sitting me at another table since plenty were available) - and - the table was extremely sticky from a prior patron did not start off my first visit on a good footing. The menus were sort of worn and also sticky in some parts. All in all the cleanliness of the restaurant was pretty poor considering that they seem to be well staffed and were not busy at the time I was there. I noticed that windows looking out into the front parking lot, as well as the glass front doors were very dirty and smudged thoroughly with fingerprints. Several staff members and hostess were chit-chatting and scanning their phones, no one seemed to be making an effort to clean-up and make the place more presentable during a slow period which certainly apply during my visit. Again, the food was not bad - Just not worth any special mention. Considering that they have a pretty limited breakfast and brunch menu, I'm not sure that I'll be visiting again. My husband and I enjoyed breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe on Wednesday morning. Upon entering a hostess brusquely asked "How can I help you?" which I found the phrasing a bit odd. I told her we were hungry and wanted to eat. It's a restaurant, what else could I want her help with. But after we were seated I let it go. We were seated at 9:24 am, and our waitress (Taylor S) acknowledged our table at 9:35 am which I thought was a little long. I was taken aback at her initial approach because her mask was below her nose. Having had some time to peruse the menu, my husband and I both knew what we were going to try. We had the Cold Brew Coffee, one with Hazelnut flavor, the other with caramel flavor and ordered the seasonal items of Sausage and Fennel Omelette and the Pumpkin Waffle to share. Luckily everything just went up from there. Our breakfast arrived at the table at 9:42 am. Yes! Only 7 minutes after ordering, and it was all great. Taylor made sure we had everything we needed. She saw that my husband and I were sharing our orders and offered to bring us an extra plate and her mask was worn correctly for the rest of our visit which makes me think it had just slipped down initially. It happens. The cold brew coffees were delicious, but I preferred the hazelnut over the caramel because it had a stronger intensity. The Seasonal Selection of the Sausage & Fennel Omelette was a refreshing change of pace from traditional offerings. It is filled with jack cheese, sausage, and onion and topped with fresh fennel, tomatoes and a decadently rich mushroom saute. The mushroom sauce and fresh fennel made this dish sing. It also came with an English muffin which I excessively buttered up and I had the grits option. $13.99 We also enjoyed the Pumpkin Waffle (a pumpkin-infused Belgian waffle topped with pecans, spiced compound butter and powdered sugar) It had just enough ode to fall flavor without being over powering in any way and I loved the contrast of sweetness, the spongy texture of the waffle and the texture change of the pecans. It is served with two eggs any style and your choice of meat side. I had my eggs over medium and they came out perfect. $12.99 See as we shared the entrees, we had the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I would say we had a mildly bumpy start, however once Taylor came to our table things really turned around. Food came out delicious, super fast, and Taylor is great at taking care of her tables and making sure we had anything we needed. Phenomenal! Came here for late breakfast on a Friday while in town for a wedding. I love how every location has an authentic dish unique to its region. Our waitress was training someone and it is clear why she was chosen. We were thoroughly impressed with her efficiency and generosity. Solid restaurant and menu. Never a disappointing experience at any location I visit. When being sat I noticed a large spill under the table as well as large crumbs and discarded masks. The busboy was quick to help the situation and get things cleaned up. He even attempted to have us reseated at another table but the restaurant was a bit full and we didn't mind waiting for the area to be cleaned again. Oh my goodness!! Love eating breakfast and brunch here!! They create different specials for each season, and this past fall they had a bayou breakfast that was to die for!!! They took grilled cornbread and covered it with an egg over easy, crawfish ettouffe, hollandaise sauce green onions and they also had a sweet potato crunch on top too... oh I can't wait to eat that again!! Had a great first time here. We went in after noon and got sat right away. It was really cool atmosphere, nicer but not upscale. I was worried it would be a little stuffy based on the online pictures, but it wasn't at all. Our server was super nice, friendly, and helpful. She really walked us through the menu. Everything looked delicious. We both settled on seasonal specials: I got strawberry french toast with eggs and a meat. And my partner got a brisket benny. Both were incredible. The serving were good size, not honking, but I left comfortably full. I want to go back and try a lot more food! I've never been disappointed with Another Broken Egg. Their food is always great and so are the drinks. Instead of a mimosa I tried the spiked salted caramel cold brew and as a coffee lover I enjoyed it. My only advice when visiting here is to go early unless you don't mind waiting. Because once the crowds form the wait can be 60 minutes+ and they're only open until 2pm. read more

My family and I visited Another Broken Egg Citi Place this Sunday. Expecting a long wait time due to LSU Family weekend, we placed ourselves on the waitlist 2.5 hours in advance. Once it hit 10:50am, our wait time was estimated at 10 minutes. We were not sat at our table until 11:45am. Once seated, our entire party was ready to order- we all understood how busy the restaurant was and wanted to eat. Our waitress, Tiffany, came by to take our drink/food orders. It took around 15 minutes for drinks to come out. Nothing crazy, just waters and a couple sodas. Our waters were warm- Tiffany had informed me that the restaurant "was out of ice", yet every tray that passed by had drinks full to the brim with ice. Hungry, and watching tables that had been seated after us enjoy their food, our ticket was up (50 minutes after we had ordered). Although some food was okay, a Benedict burger was ICE COLD, potatoes were soggy, and the rest was lukewarm. We brought this issue up to Tiffany, who quickly told us that she would go get the manager. Never once did she come visit our table again (nor did the manager). We had to hunt her down to get the check and to-go boxes. Overall, this experience was incredibly disappointing. I understand that this particular day was busy, but almost 1/4 of the restaurant was empty while we were waiting for our food. As a paying customer, I expect better out of your waitresses, staff, and especially management- who seemed too busy to be bothered with our table. All things south, the food is rich and will kill you. Coffee is decent, and the hollandaise for the benedict is rich and creamy. If you are going to commit suicide, go for their City Grits! CREAMY and smoked gouda-rich deliciousness. The crabcakes are more breading than crab, and that is where they didn't have me at 4 stars. Service is delightful. And I didn't go for chilaquiles because they use flour tortillas (really? a cardinal sin). There is plenty on the menu to order from, so you definitely will not leave hungry and portions are hearty - feel free to share! read more

I've been to this location numerous times & each time the food has been amazing & so has the service . I recently visited this past week on Thursday, October 5th & decided to try something new . I ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes, eggs , & side of potatoes. The pancakes were horrible . I took one bite & sent them back & asked for regular ones . The waitress removed them from the table & got me new regular pancakes . When I got my bill I saw I was still charged for the pancakes that I didn't like & only took one bite of. I asked the server about it because I was happy to pay for the ones I had eaten but not the ones I disliked & she told me the manager said I still had to pay because I took a bite . This was a nice experience today. First time using the yelp wait list. It was nice. We were able to see which spot we are at on the wait list. Waitress was amazing. Very kid friendly... We talked a lot about Disney cause our kids live Disney. She also understand that our kids' food need to be place in first cause they take forever to eat lol. Both kids cleaned their plate. I stood by the bar for 10 minutes before being acknowledge. once I told them I was there for my to go order I still ended up having to wait an extra 20 minutes to receive my food. There was nowhere to sit and I awkwardly stood near people's tables while I waited. I usually come here and the service is usually good. However, today was different. I ordered the Monterey omelette. It was absolutely disgusting!! Please do not get that if you come here. I was even open to keeping the sides and just getting a burger instead. I am completely upset since this is a place where I regularly come. So after standing there for several minutes I decided to seat myself. Ordered an omelette. It's a typical chain style restaurant. Nothing fancy to report here. Came on a Sunday - a bit of a wait for a larger party. Wait time was about 30 minutes. We ordered drinks. Only half came out. The issue really started when we sat down and waited yet another 40 minutes for our food order to be taken. Food order taken, still missing two drinks. Meanwhile, menus remained on the table. Two other tables sat down after us, also larger parties, received all food and drinks before us. When our two remaining drinks came, it was placed at the end of our table instead of given to the people who ordered them. Menus remained on the table. Never coming back here again. The 3 is because our server, Jessica, was lovely. The food would get a 1, perhaps a 2, just because the holiday season has me feeling generous. I did not think I have ever had grits that were so bland and an awful texture, adding salt and pepper did not help at all. The biscuits had to be sent back for replacement because they were so overcooked dry. We were excited to try the cinnamon roll French toast... it was cold and the bread was dry, like it had not been sufficiently soaked before cooking it. Holy hollandaise, friends, what a brunch spot! Everything, from the just-right coffee (and Kahlua) to the warm and haute-cuisine grits, is over-the-top in quality. The decadence of their French sauces blends smoothly with every hearty dish. My shrimp and grits were refreshingly zesty, slightly lemony, and perfectly spiced. When I got to the restaurant I was greeted by Josh he was a very polite and well-mannered and well informative individual he gave me some options and recommendations I ordered the Mardi gras omelette with a side of potatoes with biscuits and gravy and regular coffee the Mardi gras omelette was delicious different it was shrimp lobster sausage in an omelet with scallions and the special sauce the sauce was delicious potatoes had a seasoning they were great biscuits and gravy gravy was a tad bit salty but have flavor bits of sausage on it the coffee was hot warming delicious my whole experience was great I recommend this restaurant to anybody I sent you some pictures of the menu pictures of the food please look at this review and make your own choice I give it five stars Josh was excellent great waiter and the atmosphere wonderful clean wear your mask and use hand sanitizer read more
