Overall.. We won't be back to Another Broken Egg. The food was completely so-so for a $36 breakfast (including one alcoholic beverage and tax). There was nothing special about the omelettes and the way over-cooked potatoes. It was just kinda of a "blah" breakfast. The service was slow (she was nice enough - but very slow), and the food came out border-line cold. They weren't that busy - but it was clear the food had been sitting under a warming light for probably 5-10 minutes before it was brought to our table. **When we sat down we told the waitress we were in a bit of a hurry, too. Although she smiled - this clearly didn't resonate with her. I should have taken a picture of the Bloody Mary we received. It was just plain sad. The lone stick of celery had to be 2 days old - no olives, no okra (just comparing to the picture shown on the advertisement on our table). Basically they poured Bloody Mary mix into a glass with a few cubes of ice, and added a shot of vodka -- no extra effort made at all. This also sat at the bar for a while because when brought to the table, the drink had begun to separate, as in watery ice mix on the top, consentrated bloody mary mix at the bottom, with the sad celery stick slumped over the top. I had to go to the bar to ask for a couple olives, and I think that offended our waitress. :( Our order: Hey Lucy Omelette - $11.49 Skinny Omelette - $10.99 Side of biscuits and gravy - $3.99 Bloody Mary - $6.99 Total bill was just over $36 (including tax). After a whole day of fasting for a medical procedure, this was going to be my "breaking of the fast" meal. Had been to another Broken Egg elsewhere and was happy, so decided to give this one a try. Results: coffee very old tasting and the flavor of the roast was like a chain restaurant....ugh! Couple sips and that was it for me. My crab cakes with poached eggs, andouille flavored hollandaise sauce: 2 in a bowl. One was cold, cold and egg was past hard boiled. The other egg was warm, but barely, and not at all runny. Both English muffins were so hard my husband laughed watching me try to cut them unsuccessfully with a steak knife! There was no hollandaise sauce. There is a reddish thick gravy over the top. Nothing remotely like a hollandaise. The crabmeat tasted liked canned and the cake had a lot of breading. The grits were just barely warm and clumpy. My husband ordered the Crescent Scramble and was warned, like me!, that the plate was very hot.......NOT!! His food was cold as well. The potatoes that he ordered tasted like the kind you bring home from a restaurant and think you're going to eat the next day out of your clamshell and consistently find too disgusting to do so, even after heating! His eggs were tough as well. We waited for our waiter to send the food back, but he didn't appear until quite a bit later. I was so hungry, I gave up and ate part of mine. No bargain prices, either! The hostess were terrible. They all looked hungover and extremely unprofessional. Told us 5 min wait and it ended up being 35 mins with no one keeping us up to date. We decided to stop over for some b-fast here. It was Memorial Day and the place was busy so understandably the service was slow. BUT, 45 mins for some food - wow, c'mon. And to top that, my brother ordered hard boiled eggs and they were barely boiled - the waitress checked on it and the manager took the charges completely off. The service was great and the waitress was super nice. Overall, a good experience, worth repeating. The outdoor patio is nice but that's probably because of the time of year we were there. We stopped here on our way to Disney World. It was definitely a great meal. The price was a little high, but I felt like I got a good meal for the price. My kids also were happy with their selection. I started eating at the original Broken Egg Cafe in Mandevile in 2003 when I lived there. I waited for years for the to come to BR, always been a big fan. Sometimes, the wait can be long but the food and the atmosphere never disappoint. I recommend any of their restaurants to anyone. read more

So I ordered a steak and eggs and the salt was so dance on my sake they had to ask for water to soak the salt off of it. This was my first visit to the Perkins Rd location. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the city grits which were very creamy, and topped with diced tomatoes, green onion and bacon. Very very tasty!! However, the omelet I ordered , the supreme was very overdone, had a lot of sausage, 2 , yes 2, tiny bits of bacon, non existent onion and topped with burnt cheese. It came with a barely toasted English muffin and fried cottage potatoes ( yummy). A cup of pretty good coffee topped off everything. The bill came to about 20$. I'll probably try it once again but order something different. Obviously omelets are not this chefs specialty. The grits are what will bring me back. One star because I can't give 0 stars. Terrible service and attitudes from the host and hostess in the front of the house. I understand it was Father's Day, but my family and I will never be eating here again. I called ahead for a party of 7, and was told it would be an hour from when I called. After it had been an hour, I asked about our wait time and was told it would be 15 minutes and that we were first on the wait list. After the 15 minutes I asked again, only to be rudely yelled at by a guy in gold rimmed round glasses. It took them 10 minutes to clear off our table after a large party left. Totally unacceptable. The waiters do not give a crap about your experience. We ordered eggs over easy and they gave cold runny eggs that were disgusting to look at. They never came once to ask anything about the food and whether it was good. It took them 20 minutes to get the credit card processed. I'm not saying I'm never going there again. I had a horrible experience there yesterday morning. I've been going to this restaurant for years and have only ever gone back because of the food. Service has always been lacking but the food was always quick and worth the bad service. This was not the case yesterday. First off, the host stand. This was the most ridiculous display I've ever seen. There was a wait (not surprising. After all it was a Sunday morning.) However, there was one hostess handling the large wait list and she didn't seem to care one bit about getting people sat. We witnessed her call someone's name once - barely at an audible level - and didn't try to check outside. Then pass his name up. Luckily someone grabbed him (another customer waiting to be sat) and let him know he was up because she was just passing him up. When it finally came our turn, the host brought us to a table and immediately asked us to get up because the table was better for the next family on the list. So then we end up standing in the middle of the dining room while she grabs that family, sits them at our table, then has to look for an empty table to get us sat. To say the least, I was extremely annoyed at that point. Now the ONLY reason I'm giving a 2nd star is bc our server was actually very sweet even though a little forgetful. During our meal, not even the food was worth it. They were out of English muffins. Burnt our bagels. Boiled what was supposed to be poached eggs. When our food was delivered we didn't have silverware and it took a good 5 minutes to get any servers attention so we could get some. Oh and a bartender delivered our coffee and basically threw it at us spilling it on my boyfriend and just walked away. Came to this restaurant at around 11am. They were about half full, but we were asked to wait because they had to clear some tables off. After a few minutes we were seated, but no server acknowledged that we were there. We waited patiently for about 10 minutes, buy never were waited on. Then other servers came to the front and added people to a list that we were told they were not using. Then we sat and waited for 45 min after the host told us it was a 20 minute wait. other people were sat all around us that had come in after us but were out on the list so we asked about it and talk to some one and finally got on the list that again said was not being used then more people were coming in and beating sat because when we got added to the list we were added to the bottom not to the top like we should have been. First we walk in the restaurant and there are several empty tables but we have to wait about 15 minutes for a table. I was puzzled but hey idk what's going on. We order and our food takes 30 minutes to arrive and it was not good. It wasn't hot and my order was missing items. I didn't want to order anything else because I was starving and didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for my order. The manager walks around and asks us how everything was I told her I didn't like my order and it wasn't what I expected. I order from the new southwestern menu carne asada tots the "steak" was like ground meat it looked like dog food. The manager tried to explain that the kitchen was backed up and that's how the meat comes. Needless to say the manager gave us a gift card to come back. We probably won't return if we do I'm just ordering bacon & eggs...can't mess that up. Terrible service. It was Sunday brunch, and while we were very hungry, we expected the kitchen to be busy and maybe take a little longer than usual to serve tables. We waited 10 minutes for attention from server, 35 minutes for food. My bacon was burnt/black, my eggs were runny - and not just the yolk, the white part of the egg was not cooked. I ordered over easy, which means the eggs should be flipped and the yolk runny. I had egg soup for breakfast. Although I was unsatisfied with these two details of my meal, these things can be forgiven on a weekend brunch when the kitchen is overwhelmed. What is not acceptable is only receiving attention from our server 2 times - to take our order and to bring food. She did not once check on our satisfaction or to refill drinks. Once she very audibly chucked the dirty dishes into two overflowing dish pans ON THE FLOOR OF THE PATIO (and directly next to another customer's table), she returned to give us the wrong check. We had to call her over again until we received our check and paid. We were never even asked how the food was or if we needed anything else. I went to the hostess table to say that I did not enjoy my experience that day. She directed me to the manager who wanted me to point out who my server was, and who told me that "the other manager might have some comment cards in her purse. I'll go look through it." I insisted she didn't and just left. I have worked in the service industry. I understand that not every visit to every restaurant will be perfect. But I think there are several flaws in how this location is run. Servers - no matter how busy it is - should check on their customers' satisfaction and needs. This is a breakfast/brunch place - anyone who works at this restaurant should be experienced enough to handle a Sunday crowd and to cook a fried egg. There should be a system for customers to voice their concerns about their experience and feel like they are being listened to. The restaurant should be clean!! A giant pile of dirty dishes in the corner of the patio is disgusting and really made the experience less appetizing. read more

After waiting 30 minutes was told because we had a party of 8 they couldn't tell me how long it would take for a table. I asked if they could let me know because after waiting 30 minutes we didn't want to wait for a longer undetermined time. Finally a table was ready. Drink orders came out fairly quick but that was about all. Told we were being given a beignets because it's out first visit. Another 30 minutes and finally beignets. They were petty good. Then another 30 minutes food came out. Only person really happy had the salmon. Pancakes were dry and/or burnt. My 7 year old granddaughter couldn't eat them. Bacon was beyond burnt. Overall I'd say we won't be trying any more of their restaurants. Waiting over an hour for breakfast food is not something I find interesting. read more

I would highly discourage anyone from ordering a to-go meal from this location. Since it is so close, I have ordered brunch twice from here. Both times were very disappointing. The first time, I waited about 5 minutes from leaving the restaurant to begin eating and the food was absolutely cold. I had to re-heat it. The second time, I waited at the restaurant until it was done and then opened it immediately. It was cold again! I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was so salty. The eggs which came with it were terribly cold, as if they had made them at least 30 minutes before giving them to me. They had completely cooled off. Even the potatoes barely had any warmth. I was treated to one of Baton Rouge's finest breakfast establishments. The ombiance of this little breakfast nook was top notch and eligant to the eye and tummy. The service staff was friendly and had welcoming smiles as I entered the restaurant. This place has an array of breakfast food and brunch sandwiches that can exite any pallet. I have had the shrimp and grits as well and the juicy Cafe burger. Both in there own league of class in presentation and taste. I can't wait for my next visit. On Valentine's Day my boyfriend and I tried something different! We went to Another Broken Egg for breakfast! Very busy and kind of a long wait. But the food was well worth the wait. We had red velvet pancakes as the appetizer, which were absolutely delicious! For an entree I had the Stans Mardi Gras which was absolutely amazing. The staff was an amazing group of people!
