I don't normally leave a review for a negative experience but I hope this is taken as constructive feedback! Let's start with the good news: seating was quick and the coffee was great! The coffee was my favorite part. It was a nice space and the staff was friendly! The bad news is the food was very disappointing. My partner ordered the Lobster Hash Benedict. The hollandaise was gritty, not velvety. The lobster and mushrooms were inedibly salty, seemingly cooked in salt water. The egg wasn't even poached, it was hard boiled! You cannot charge $17 for an entree and serve that. I ordered the Traditional Day Starter--a very basic breakfast that you really can't get wrong. My maple apple chicken sausage was kinda warm, but not hot when it arrived to me. I tried it anyway but I couldn't even taste it-- the sausage was flavorless. My "country potatoes" were NOT country potatoes. They looked and tasted like someone tore open a bag of frozen diced potatoes and threw them in a deep fryer. Our server was friendly, but never came back to check on us and ask us how we liked the food. Additionally, because we weren't checked on, we didn't have the chance to ask for water when we realized during the meal that we didn't have any! One other thing we noticed while eating was that someone was using power tools right in the middle of breakfast!?! Like please don't ruin the ambiance when that's literally the best part! In Nashville/Brentwood, there are so many options for breakfast/brunch, and people have the money to spend on good food and a good experience. If these issues get fixed, I'd love to come back and update my review to a positive one. In the meantime, breakfast goers should spend their money at one of the many other options in town. read more

The food was amazing! First of all, the food was hot upon arrival. The Buttermilk pancakes came with syrup; they so good, they don't even need syrup. The scrambled eggs and chicken sausage were a nice side dish option; flavorful, yummy. The Veggie Delight Omelette (Goat Cheese, Spinach, Tomatoes and Mushrooms) was absolutely delicious. The omelette was fluffy; all the ingredients worked well together. The fresh country potatoes were seasoned well, very crispy. We really enjoyed the blackberry preserves on the English muffin. First off, the food is great and the ambiance is super cute. But, do yourself a favor and go to the location in Melrose to avoid the world's rudest waitress, Brandy. Unfortunately, the waitress that served us is truly the rudest and most unkind waitress I've ever encountered in my entire life. Based on the receipt, her name is Brandy. From the moment we walked in, she made it clear we were unwelcome. She was cold, unfriendly, short, and uninterested in doing anything but the bare minimum. We greeted her with smiles and kindness and got nothing but disinterested responses from her. Time to order drinks. My mother in law asked if they served herbal tea (the menu said they did) and Brandy replied "No, we have black and green tea. You want any of those?" Doesn't seem like a rude response on paper, but the way she said it was INSANELY annoyed. She brings out drinks and I'm still trying to kill her kindness and enthusiastically thank her for bringing the drinks. All I got in response was "yep.". Time to order food. Here's where sh*t hits the fan. My mother in law wanted to know if it was possible to order the Cinnamon Roll French Toast without the side of eggs and meat. There is some miscommunication between my MIL and Brandy about pricing of ordering a la carte vs. the combo and whether or not we would have to pay for the sides and if she can substitute the meat for fruit instead. I COMPLETELY understand that miscommunications can be frustrating. I worked in customer service for 5 years over the phone. I can't stress enough that I GET it can get annoying having to reexplain the same thing a few different ways until the customer understands. The way my MIL was asking her question ABSOLUTELY DID NOT justify the blatant disrespect Brandy responded to her with. She responded with "Like I said, it the combo comes with..." INCREDIBLY sarcastic and rude. Like there was no "misunderstanding" the way this waitress meant for that to come across. She was being blatantly rude and had ZERO patience. Here's a tip: if you don't want customers to ask questions about the menu, don't approach the table and ask "do you have questions about the menu?" And this point, none of us are engaging with her whenever she approaches the table. Then our food comes. She puts it on the table, doesn't say anything and walks away. She comes back 30-ish seconds later with syrup and asks something along the lines of "how is it?". We respond with "it's good!" and she says "the French toast has a lot of fruit on it" passive aggressively making a jab about the question about subbing for fruit earlier and immediately walks away. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I'm baffled. Brandy is passive aggressive, cold, rude, unkind, unwelcoming, and mean-hearted. She should ABSOLUTELY be removed from her position for the sake of the business. We did not tip her and it's justified. I don't regret it ONE bit. read more

While friendly at times; we felt the service was also a bit distant and rushed, to the end where the receipt was placed on the table without asking if we were done or wanted anything more to order. Stillmore, our server was talking quite loud about her personal life and her finances throughout our entire meal. Very busy in Columbia due to a lack of downtown offerings. Worth it when remembering that you can put your name in line in advance so as to not have to wait in the often 1+ hour line. The first time we came to the Brentwood, TN ABEC, we were met at the door by a super-welcoming guy who sat us in the new and nicely-appointed dining room, and gave us a free order of beignets as first-timers: a great start for any restaurant. Since then, the best that can be said about ABEC is that it's been uneven. I've had the "Baquezzo" omelet three times: the first time was delicious -- moist and full of cheese and sausage. The following two times were progressively drier and overcooked. The best warning I can give to anyone visiting ABEC, however, is to avoid anything that includes what they call "hollandaise sauce." By any other restaurant's measure, it's not hollandaise: it's white, with no lemon, and generally totally tasteless. I thought they had just run out of actual hollandaise and replaced it with a cheese sauce, but they insisted it was "their version." They'd be much better served using the traditional recipe. And speaking of tasteless, both the side grits and potatoes are completely devoid of anything approaching flavor or interest. You can, however, "upgrade" to a side of fruit instead, but that'll cost you another $3.50. You do get a little mango with it, but mostly it's the typical grapes, strawberries, and blueberries you can get for free at most other places. I'll end on a positive by saying that my wife very much enjoyed the Club Sandwich, as well as the Apple Fritter French Toast, which was basically a super-sweet dessert disguised as breakfast. We have to drive a bit to get to ABEC, and while we'll probably try again in the future, I can't say it'll stay in the regular breakfast/brunch rotation, with all the other excellent competition in the area. read more

Best pancakes I've ever eaten by far were the bourbon street pancakes. Every aspect of the meal was fantastic including our waitress, Cierra. Things started off really good here. We were seated way sooner than our quoted wait, but we certainly made up for that by waiting for every other aspect of the meal. I'm a bit disappointed by the service--extremely slow, but food was really good. I'm pretty sure this location is new, so I'm sure service will improve as they get the hang of things. They did give us complimentary beignets for our wait, which was nice, but also even that didn't help a ton because we didn't have anything to eat them with. Basically had to ask for everything & it was a long time before we got things, or we never got them (ie: eventually getting our own straws from the servers station next to our table--even though that felt rude to do ourselves?). They have a Veg/GF menu available upon request, but honestly it's not worth the wait to look over it. It's all the same menu items, just with items with meat or gluten weeded out. Any seasoned vegetarian is pretty good at weeding out what they can/cannot eat on their own, the special menu does not provide any additional options. I would like to brag on the food though. The potatoes are excellent, perfectly poached eggs, and a great hollandaise sauce for their eggs benedict's. It was all really delicious and we enjoyed our meal. I ended up ordering a non-vegetarian offering and asked for the bacon to be left off & they were careful and attentive to do so. Our server was also very sweet & we could tell she was doing her best. We really think Another Broken Egg Brentwood has a lot of potential, but not sure that we will be back anytime soon. If you go, bring your patience. read more

Second week in a row that our office came to this great restaurant. Food is amazing, staff is great...but what blew us away the most is that our amazing server Carla remembered us. Not like "recognized" us, but actually remembered our drink orders and what we ate last week. I would like to think I'm an exceptionally unforgettable person, but I know this isn't at all true. I was sitting for 22 minutes, 3 new tables were sit after me and waitresses saw me and she took the other tables orders before me Just because I was alone and I'm Hispanic. By the time I left the other 3 tables (next to each other from my table) were served drinks and plates. We made our second trip to this location on the 25th. Things started well enough. We were pleasantly greeted and seated. But it was a good ten minutes before our server (Angela M) took our drinks order and another long wait for coffee and iced tea. There was an unconscionably long wait for the food. The orders were correct and tasty enough. But after delivering our food Angela disappeared -- until she came with the check. We were not offered refills or even asked if our breakfast was ok. In brief, our experience was similar to our first visit: decent food and indifferent bordering on negligent service. There is no manager visible in this extremely loud restaurant. I don't know if Angela needs retraining or a different job. But I have noticed on both occasions the service gets slower as the number of diners decreases. We left a tip of 20% but do not feel it was merited. It is doubtful we will return for a third visit. read more

This was our first time here. Service was incredibly slow. All the tables around us seemed to be waiting for their food as long as we were. We got a vanilla cold brew that had so much syrup settled at the bottom, you couldn't taste any of the coffee over the sugar. Also had a mediocre-at-best medium roast coffee that got refilled once after we had already put our card out to pay, despite it being empty before we received our meal. The server wasn't knowledgeable about what foods were or could be made vegetarian friendly. We ended up getting a Benedict with very little flavor and a uniformly squishy texture (even after loading it with their hot sauce, which was weirdly sweet, and salt and pepper). Breakfast potatoes were good! The further into the restaurant we were taken, the more we were immersed in the smell of raw seafood. Not sure if it was just a bad day, or if this experience is standard. Overall, we had an overpriced, tasteless, looong breakfast that we ate less than half of and promptly went to a coffee shop after. Two stars because the potatoes were decent, and I'm hoping this was a one-off occurrence. read more
