I recently visited Anter Jewelry during a trip to NYC (located on the corner of 47th St and Avenue of the Americas). I had brought along with me my Rolex Submariner watch, which I had purchased about twenty years ago and now rarely wore because the gold and stainless band was not really my style anymore. My intention was to trade it in/up for another, less flashy Rolex. As I walked into Anter Jewelry I was immediately impressed by their sizable selection of upscale watches. There, I spotted a late model Rolex Batman. Although, I liked their Batman, I wanted to shop it on 47th St., as there were so many watch sellers to shop and compare similarly from. Ultimately, I was led back to Anter Jewelry. Both Mike and Sam (the owner), at Anter were very helpful and pleasant to work with. In addition to pricing their Rolex Batman very competitively, they offered me a handsome trade-in price for my submariner. They also offered me a fair price for an Omega Seamaster, which I had at home and was no longer wearing any longer. With very little haggling over the final price of the Rolex Batman, we ultimately made a deal. They provided me with a prepaid shipping label to ship them my Omega. I gave them my Submariner for the trade, and they provided me with ample documentation that supported our transaction. When I returned home to California, I shipped them my Omega, in the box it originally came in. A few days later, my Rolex Batman arrived from Anter Jewelry. My experience at Anter was a pleasant one. I placed a lot of trust in Anter Jewelry, and they rose to the occasion. They treated me fairly and executed our transaction as promised. I would recommend Anter Jewelry and would do business with them again. As a side note, based on the documentation that was provided with the Rolex Batman, I was able to trace the origins of the watch. It was our third trip to the diamond district spread out over a few weeks and my fiancé thought she knew what she wanted, a trillion-cut diamond, but she was also open to other precious stones. We are both turned off by hawkers trying to strong-arm us into their shops. My fiancé was drawn to a ring at Anter Jewelry that was very different to what she thought she wanted. We came in with a host of technical questions and the first guy we spoke to referred us to Sam, who turned out to be the owner. Sam works there with his father, two brothers and a number of other people. Sam was very patient, friendly and informative - we felt very comfortable dealing with him. He impressed on us the difference between cocktail rings to be worn on special occasions and everyday rings. He also told us that some gems are fragile and can't be cleaned. Finally, he told us that platinum which used to be more expensive than gold is now the same price as 14 carat gold and is extremely hard and durable. Trillion-cut diamonds are prone to chipping at the corners and have low resale value (yes, you do need to factor that in if the unthinkable happens!). Long story short, we walked out with the very first ring my fiancé spotted, which was a vintage Cartier platinum solitaire with a decent sized stone, that was strong and durable, and suitable for everyday use. My fiancé is a bit of a tomboy and loves doing projects around the house and working out in the gym without taking her rings off! I bought a platinum band for myself which was also vintage and handmade. We haggled on the price for each item and then on the combined total. There's always a bit of wiggle room!
