I had my pool resurfaced late last fall. Unfortunately, the coordination and communication from the scheduler and project manager during the project were extremely disappointing. There were also warranty repairs needed after the pool was reopened this spring. Since then, the company has undergone some staffing changes, and it genuinely appears they are making a strong effort to improve customer service and responsiveness. My recent experience has been much more positive. Justin helped coordinate my warranty repair after several attempts to reach my previous contacts, who had since left the company. He quickly got everything scheduled, and Steve arrived exactly as promised. Steve was incredibly knowledgeable, took the time to explain what he was doing, and did an outstanding job resetting my pool light. I finally feel confident that the repair was done correctly. I'd also like to give a special shout-out to Hart. During the original project, when communication from the project team was lacking, he always answered my calls, listened to my concerns, and served as my liaison. He consistently found the information I needed and kept me informed when no one else did. His willingness to help made a very frustrating experience much more manageable. While the initial project had significant communication challenges, I truly appreciate the company's recent improvements and the outstanding service provided by Justin, Steve, and Hart. Absolutely nightmare of a company. It is impossible to get in touch with anyone from the company to answer questions or concerns. The person we were dealing with suddenly vacated their position. The person that replaced him had no desire to answer our questions or concerns and then suddenly went on vacation without telling us before scheduling our work. We have no confidence they will be able to start or complete the job in the promised amount of time. Once they get your deposit they vanish. Work still hasn't started. After reading all of these reviews I realize I am not alone. read more

Anthony Sylvan Pools - Poor Project Management and No Accountability We are deep into our pool/spa build and the experience has been a consistent pattern of disorganization, poor communication, and zero accountability. Permitting and drawings: The spa was relocated during planning, but Anthony Sylvan never updated the drawings. Montgomery County failed our inspection as a result. We lost two weeks. When the inspector finally returned, Anthony Sylvan submitted drawings without the required county stamp - then tried to blame the inspector. That's on them. Subcontractor coordination: The electrician came out and left dirt and drywall dust all over our new floors. Worse, no one informed the gas company that electrical was complete. The gas company found out on their own and told us they couldn't come for three weeks. We now have open drywall in our basement - while hosting guests - because no one coordinated a basic handoff between trades. Scheduling and follow-up: After paying our deposit, we were told upfront there is no schedule. They pull resources as they go. We have never received one. Since breaking ground in mid-March, we have had 9 total construction days through the end of May. The job site sits empty most days with no project manager present. Customer service: When we called about the gas situation, the scheduler told us it wasn't her schedule and refused to walk over to speak with the person who owns it - because she was on a headset. The pattern is clear: once they collect the deposit, follow-up stops. They expect you to just deal with it. read more

Nearing the finish of our pool project with A&S. We have had nothing but good experiences from sales through delivery. Greg Anthony, the PM, has been transparent, communicative, and responsive. He let's us know what the next phase of the project is and is onsite to ensure the phase kicks off properly. We have completed our pre-plaster meeting and now are just waiting for warm weather to finish this project out. Greg stops by frequently to inspect the pool and pump out excessive rain water. literally just go anywhere else. they say they've been around 80 years best of the best but they don't do the work they hire local companies. so you're not the best, you lack any bit of communication. literally still can't get an answer when the mastic will be done and haven't been able to get ahold of anyone since June 4th. we started this project attempting to communicate with them since February. Caitlyn in scheduling is awful, Dave is awful everyone has been awful. the project manager told us a lot of hiring has been happening and no one knows what they're doing and he couldn't give us word on when someone will complete the work since that's the schedulers job. it's been an awful experience and I wish we went with someone else knowing what I know now. hire a local company. save yourself hassle, they're the ones coming out to do the work anyways once someone knows what they're doing at sylvan. the teams also left plaster in our grass, put leftover cement or whatever behind all our trees against our fence, killed our grass. messy work when plaster was completed in the pool. spend you're 21 grand elsewhere if you need a simple pool renovation. and do not respond to this comment with a please send an email to customer care. you have my information reach out to me and complete our pool project. read more

In 2020 I had A&S install a pool. Long process but after starting in June we finally put water in October. Year 2 had the waterline tiles falling off. I put back on myself, after several attempts to get some to come out and look at it. Year 3 150 tiles came off, Year 4, 250 tiles. Called again and they weren't interested in putting the black creek pebble finish around top where tiles are. They only wanted to re do the tiles. Why would I have them do the same thing. Just have the same issues 2 to 3yrs later. If I was doing again, I would run the black creek pebble plaster to the top. Every Mason I showed the mortar to that falls off with tile, says they used to much sand in the mix. A&S has been of no help, since the pool went in. read more

we had a pool renovation done in 2020 and was up in 2021. Every year we have had tiles pop off around the spa and had to fight them to come out because they would not answer calls or return them or emails. Last 3 years we had a leak and problems with plaster and was told they couldn't find the leak and we had to pay over 1000 for another company to come out for the leak. The plaster was because of the way the put it on and tile we got told it happens. Well this year we just opened pool almost all the tile around spa has came off during winter and we had a company come out to do all the water tests and keep it right I have all reports. The equipment is messed up and working with another company to get it working right. All tile has fallen around spa and when it feel off it was wet behind the tile. The light they installed in the pool is taking on water. we still have the leak they will not fix and the plaster is still coming up. I would not recommend this company because our pool isn't old at all and everything is failing and the last time I called them I was told I was out of warranty and it didn't matter they never fixed the issues. read more

This morning, two gentlemen from Anthony&Sylvan pools came out to open my pool for the summer. I could not be happier with the service they provided. I have had my Anthony&Sylvan pool for over 40 years. I have always used their technicians to open and close the pool and I have never been disappointed with the service I received from this company. Today was an especially enjoyable morning because of Donte and Will. To say that these two gentlemen "took care of me" is an understatement. They cleaned off my pool cover before they removed it, they rolled it up and bagged it for me. They reassembled the filter grids, started up the motor, ensured that the heater was working properly, and "doused" the pool with all the proper chemicals. They spent time speaking with me about proper pool maintenance to be sure I understood everything I needed to do to maintain my pool this summer. Anthony&Sylvan Pools is definitely the elite among pools and Donte and Will are the best of the elite! read more

Very disappointed with the pool built by Anthony Sullivan's team. It's only 3 years old and we've already had two broken pipes and a malfunctioning water heater -- both clearly low-quality materials. The decking work was also poor -- the pavers are sinking, causing puddles and drainage issues. Worst of all, no warranty is provided for the work. I would not recommend this company based on our experience. read more

they damaged our pool in closing, we didn't find out the damage until they opened the pool in the spring. they even had proof from their own pictures that it was their fault, but Anthony and sylvan refused to take responsibility and and now we are stuck paying to repair their damage. we had previous issues with them not using chemicals safely, but we able to catch before the chemicals damaged pool equipment. you should expect the bare minimum, poor workmanship and dishonesty if you use them for pool service. read more

Once again, I cannot get a hold of a single person at Anthony and Sylvan pools. I am in the middle of inspections, and the person that was my point of contact vacated the position. The name I was given does not respond to emails and EVERY SINGLE NUMBER I CALL GETS DISCONNECTED DURING THE AUTOMATED PROCESS!!! Avoid this company. Our experience has been a never-ending nightmare. We have had multiple issues with rebar ties rusting into our plaster. It is almost impossible to get ahold of anyone from the company to address these issues. Once we did, they came and "fixed" the spot. They had to drain the entire pool since the rusted spot was in the bottom of the deep end. While the "repair" was covered by warranty, we had to cover the cost of the water to refill our pool ($$$). One year later, we have 2 more dusting stains in our plaster, one being IN THE SAME SPOT THEY JUST REPAIRED LAST YEAR. The stone face of our retaining was is also covered in rusty stains where corroded wires are poking out. We now cannot get ahold of anyone at the company about these issues. I am leaving out the nightmare that it was to get the pool installed, and issues we had with the equipment... Bottomline, their pools are not well made, they do not stand by their product, they have horrendous customer service, and they are impossible to get ahold of. Stay away. read more

Working with Anthony & Sylvan Pools has been one of the worst vendor experiences of my life. I have dealt with an untruthful salesman, an uncommunicative foreman, incompetent construction people and uncaring customer service people. Prior to contracting with them for a pool renovation, I related to the salesman that I had had difficult experiences with other vendors due to COVID complications. He assured me that there would be no such issues with A & S because they did not contract out any work (not true) and they had a full competent workforce. He even called to verify that all the materials were in stock (also not true). The projected timeline for repairs was 3 to 4 weeks. Over ten months from the signing of the contract and the work is still incomplete. At this point I have given up. Absolutely nothing happened for the first month. When we inquired about a start date they told us they could start demolition immediately providing we paid the entire balance of the contract in advance, leaving us no recourse for the terrible work that was to ensue. Assuming that we would have a renovated pool in a month we allowed them to start. They drained the pool and jack hammered all the coping and tile. Then they told us that the stones that they previously had confirmed were in stock were now unavailable and we didn't see them again for 6 weeks and had to deal with a terrible eyesore in our back yard. Finally, as freezing weather was approaching, I threatened to hold them responsible for any freeze damage done to the unwinterized pool due to their negligence. Miraculously the materials showed up the next day. Then as usual they cancelled and rescheduled the work two more times. We were finally able to fill the pool, but closed it two days later since November 18th was the last day that our local pool maintenance company would schedule a closing. We opened the pool in March to discover that 50 coping stones had come loose and 16 feet of decorative tile had come loose and fallen into the pool. To shorten this incredibly long story of incompetence, I will just say that getting them to repair the damage was another 4 months of dealing with uncaring incompetent A & S employees and contractors. There is still a broken drain (due to one of the stone worker's heavy boot) and loose lighting fixture in the spa (due to them breaking the mounting bracket) which I have decided to fix myself. I'm finally done with A&S and hope that this will help prevent anyone else from making the same mistake I did in choosing them. read more

We were so excited to have a pool built and had saved for years for this new addition, we entered into a contract with Anthony Sylvan and it led to years of disappointment and frustration. They built the pool in 2016 and ran into a slew of construction issues ranging from non level patio that caused water damage in my house, drainage issues and marked pool plaster. We were dragged along a series of fixes and compromises they suggested that lasted YEARS. It took constant messages to even get a response! We finally had the pool plaster as the last item to solve, promising they would fix the plaster .... and then they said the warranty was up and are trying to blame the marks on us. Like - really?! Do you not think we have photos/videos of each treatment and the results of the treatment - we do! Our issues were caused from the steps they made to fix the original issue and thankfully we have videos and pictures of the original pool and each mark/pool plaster issue they created after each "fix" to include a hole they placed in the bottom of the pool by a machine they left in the pool to "circulate" the water during an acid treatment they required as their "fix". (Photos attached of the hole they "fixed" from their machine and the scraping they did after the acid treatment) We have TONS more photos/videos/emails/voicemails to prove their poor business practice. The warranty department is an artful scam center that does nothing but string you along and take your time. read more

I still don't have a functioning pool cover and it has been several years of back and forth, failed designs, failed parts, etc. Also, if a warranty issue comes up, you won't get any priority service what so ever. I do not typically leave reviews but my experience with Anthony & Sylvan (A&S) is so profoundly negative that I wish to provide warning to others. As background, we contracted with A&S on a $150+ pool and broke ground in September 2021. I appreciated A&S' good ideas during the design process but the company fails to deliver. We made our final payment in May 2022, when the pool was plastered and filled. It is now a full year later and we have an unpermitted pool because A&S won't finish the job. By their own admission, they did not properly plaster the pool. In addition, our lights do not work and the coping/decking was removed but not fixed during a botched skimmer repair. A&S staff stopped responding as soon as they collected our last payment. Simple requests for information are not responded to and require 4-5 emails to get a reply, which is usually not responsive. Even after engaging management, we have no path forward. We've had multiple friends and neighbors ask for a pool contractor recommendation and I cannot recommend A&S because of their chronic disregard for customers. read more

2019 We contacted Anthony Pools to re-plaster and retile our pool. Sales person was more than eager to sell their products and services promising "they were the best in the business." He seemed reasonable and to know what he was selling. Unfortunately the rest of Anthony Pools was uninformed, disinterested or unhelpful. Absolutely hands down the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Note that all services must be pre-paid. My experience with contractors who demand full pre-payment is they are more about getting paid than doing a good job. What Anthony doesn't tell you is all their work is contracted out and they function merely as the seller and scheduler. Once money is received they disappear. I was held hostage for the final portion of the job until full payment was received despite having paid over half already. " I cannot let our team come to your house until we get paid." You have zero recourse if their is a problem. Unless they were seeking payment getting someone from the office to answer the phone or answer emails is next to impossible. In terms of the actual completed work. They showed three hours late. They were at my house for a total of 6 hours divided over two days for the two potions of the job. Grand total of $8000. Supplies we figured were about $2000. So about $6000 for the labor. Keep in mind the work was done by subcontractors. In the end way overpriced and you are paying Anthony to schedule your work. Find a group that does their own work and allows you to pay for a completed job. Anthony pools is a larger operation that works off a middleman markup business model. You will most likely get a better price since can avoid the contractor middleman markup. read more

I am totally happy with the company Anthony & Sylvan Pools; from beginning to end it was done totally professional. The pool is exactly as we wanted it to be. It is designed in a beautiful display and sitting. The salesman, took the time before the installation and showed us exactly how it would be placed. (Other salemen from other companies did not bother to do this and take the extra time). The workmanship is perfect; and they are dependable, they come when they say they will be here, they clean up their debries from working each stage, they even took the time to place an 8,000 lb boulder and moved it into my flower garden for a display. It is a disgrace that this company is as large as it is. Had my pool completed April 2020. At the time there was a 3x4 spot that was discolored. After months of attempts to get anyone from A & S to follow up, we were told that spot is the correct color, the rest of the pool isn't correct. An acid bath will fix it we are told. They do the acid bath and our plaster looks great. They had to bring a circulation pump out as the filter system of the pool cannot run for a few days after this treatment. Unfortunately, the pump they brought was old and rusty and left rust stains on our plaster. This was June of 2021. They come out to correct the rust stains and the result are bleached out white blotches in a couple of areas. They say to let it sit, it should adjust. Fast fwd to June of 2022, still glaring white blotches. They come out and try a treatment of Jack's Magic with no success. Still a discolored pool bottom! Stay tuned to see what comes of this next, but I'm not letting it go. Paid too much to have an amateur looking pool. read more

Run don't walk! One star is too many! This is an update on the review from July 2018. After 20 emails, 10 calls and working through the Better Business Bureau the GM finally responded. We came to agreement to fix all the issues with the pool early this Spring 2019. As of April 17th, no work has been done and nothing is scheduled until July. They want to shut our pool down mid season to fix issues with the original construction that started over a year and half ago. We had agreed to get this done pre-season to avoid a shut down. I've cc'd the CEO, Mark Koide and still no action. As we all know it starts and stops with the leaders. They prioritize collecting money from new customers and not completing projects that were already started and done poorly. I reiterate, once they get your money, their service ends. We have an Anthony & Sylvan inground Pool that's about five years old and paid about $40K. The terrible concrete work showed up earlier and now we are paying the price for their terrible workmanship. They poured the pool decking too thin and now it's cracking all over the place just like I- 295 B&W Parkway. The concrete pulled away from the coping and now we have 1-2 inch gaps all around the pool, were afraid a kid will get their little feet stuck down in the hole. The tiles are falling in the pool, heck that started happening the second season. The pump went out last summer (2018) and we went to Leslie's Pools and had them replace our pump--we're done with A&S Pools. Our underwater LogicColor pool lighting (one in the deep end and one in shallow end) has been replaced twice at a cost of $1000.00 each. Kids love the colors changing and flashing crazy though! Must be an electrical problem but A&S Pools they only want to sell you another $1000.00 light bulb instead of fixing the poor electrical work--laughable right. They did offer free installation--again laughable! Yes, we wrote, emailed, called, sent pictures and talked until we were black/blue in the face; they did not perform! Steer well clear if you want your pool built well. read more

Don't buy a pool with them. They tell you they have years of experience but the turnover is high so you end up getting someone young and inexperienced handling your pool project. (They lost at least 2 project managers recently!) They subcontract all their work out and the subcontractors will ruin your front yard, backyard, and driveway. They do not respond to you or let you know what is going on during any of the phases, you have to keep bugging them for the date of the next phase. It takes them 6+ months to build your pool. This means you have a big muddy mosquito breeding hole in your backyard. They require a huge amount of money upfront and the remaining balance before they plaster the pool. The problem is that after the pool is plaster is when they really turn on your system (i.e... heater, salt water system, etc...). Since you already gave them all the money, good luck on trying to get them to come out and finish up the rest or even fix anything! Remember how I told you they do not call you back? Also plan on taking a LOT of time off of work, if you do not you will not know the mistakes and it will be too late/too expensive to fix it! Don't count on your project manager to manage your pool project they don't even know how to put together a schedule. (Sure there is weather delays however this is not a good excuse to not communicate with your customer. ) This was the worst experience ever! Save yourself the time and headache. Please go over to BBB and read their reviews there. I do not know why their reviews are so positive elsewhere but I did make the mistake of trusting all the reviews. What a huge $100k+ mistake! Warranty, what Warranty? Our Anthony Sylvan Pool was less than 8 years old when the bench and concrete steps started to crack in many places. Multiple companies told us it was structural. Anthony Sylvan drained the pool, injected expoxy and then plastered only that area, leaving us with a patchwork looking pool and to top it off, WE HAD TO PAY TO REFILL IT! Fast forward 5 years and the entire area is now cracking again in the exact same spots, but they say it's not structural. I can fit a coin in the crack...Everyone else says it is structural and had told us the original repair wouldn't work and it didn't they just covered it up. BTW, your pool has to leak a considerable amount of water to even be considered for warranty service. I'm left with a pool which soon will have steps that look like the Roman Ruins, but there "isn't a structural problem". $30,000 estimates to repair, but no problem. Beware! read more
