    Nearing the finish of our pool project with A&S. We have had nothing but good experiences from sales through delivery. Greg Anthony, the PM, has been transparent, communicative, and responsive. He let's us know what the next phase of the project is and is onsite to ensure the phase kicks off properly. We have completed our pre-plaster meeting and now are just waiting for warm weather to finish this project out. Greg stops by frequently to inspect the pool and pump out excessive rain water. Every team has been efficient, clean, and skilled. No complaints!

    As with most companies in the construction trades, broken promises, delays, and disappointments are the norm. That WAS NOT my experience with Anthony Sylvan Pools! Our Project Manager, Greg Anthony, went above and beyond to educate me and keep me informed thru all phases of the project. My goal was to have decking completed before the onset of winter weather, and Anthony has exceeded my expectations. Thanks a million, Greg! I look forward to seeing you soon at our pre-plastering meeting!

    Working with Anthony & Sylvan Pools has been one of the worst vendor experiences of my life. I have dealt with an untruthful salesman, an uncommunicative foreman, incompetent construction people and uncaring customer service people. Prior to contracting with them for a pool renovation, I related to the salesman that I had had difficult experiences with other vendors due to COVID complications. He assured me that there would be no such issues with A & S because they did not contract out any work (not true) and they had a full competent workforce. He even called to verify that all the materials were in stock (also not true). The projected timeline for repairs was 3 to 4 weeks. Over ten months from the signing of the contract and the work is still incomplete. At this point I have given up. Absolutely nothing happened for the first month. When we inquired about a start date they told us they could start demolition immediately providing we paid the entire balance of the contract in advance, leaving us no recourse for the terrible work that was to ensue. Assuming that we would have a renovated pool in a month we allowed them to start. They drained the pool and jack hammered all the coping and tile. Then they told us that the stones that they previously had confirmed were in stock were now unavailable and we didn't see them again for 6 weeks and had to deal with a terrible eyesore in our back yard. Finally, as freezing weather was approaching, I threatened to hold them responsible for any freeze damage done to the unwinterized pool due to their negligence. Miraculously the materials showed up the next day. Then as usual they cancelled and rescheduled the work two more times. We were finally able to fill the pool, but closed it two days later since November 18th was the last day that our local pool maintenance company would schedule a closing. We opened the pool in March to discover that 50 coping stones had come loose and 16 feet of decorative tile had come loose and fallen into the pool. To shorten this incredibly long story of incompetence, I will just say that getting them to repair the damage was another 4 months of dealing with uncaring incompetent A & S employees and contractors. There is still a broken drain (due to one of the stone worker's heavy boot) and loose lighting fixture in the spa (due to them breaking the mounting bracket) which I have decided to fix myself. I'm finally done with A&S and hope that this will help prevent anyone else from making the same mistake I did in choosing them.

He helped me assess whether it was more cost effective to repair or replace. He came out, fixed everything up and the total came in below estimate! His troubleshooting is incredible. When a later problem with the lights watchdogged the control board he diagnosed the problem to a single fuse over the phone. He sold me the fuse and showed me where to install it. It was going to be three weeks for before Brian's crew were available. My tub was leaking, the pump wouldn't cycle, and the weather was going to be below for several days in a row. If the hoses froze, our expensive hot tub would be ruined! Brian walked me through exactly what to do to fix the leak and where to go to get a small enough heater to keep the hoses warm. When my service day came, Eric was right on time, checked the service panel as a matter of practice finding a loose wire and then was able to replace the pump even though near impossible to get to location. Even if I have to wait a month for an appointment, I won't use another hot tub repair company.

    I hired them to open my large pool of 33,000 gallons of water. 2 workers came yo my home to open…read moreit. They removed the cover , saw the pump motor worked and checked to see the cartridges in the filter system, I was told they sweep a little. The whole process took 1 1/2!hrs. Need less to say the pool water was terrible and smelled. They said the put some shock in. First, the filtration system was not cleaning at all so I , put in an over amount of shock. It did take the smell away but still was not clean. Had my son recheck both top skimmers and found a plug was left so the water could not flow to the filter. Now after a few weeks I was able to get the cloudiness out of most of the water. Shock, the cleaning jets on the pool wall still had the plugs in them. So total plugs never removed were 6. No wonder I could never get the water clear. I paid a total of $575 because of my in-ground cleaning system , which could not work properly until I removed all the 6 plugs, which should have been done when they opened it. I was totally surprised this morning with a text from the owner of BMA pools. He had just come back from vacation and just read my text to him. He apologized for any of my inconvenience and sent me a refund of $200. They were the most affordable, responsive, and professional. The crew was reliable, punctual, hardworking, and extremely fast. They did a beautiful job! Brian (the owner) was amazing to work with! He went above and beyond every step of the way to communicate with us and make sure we were happy. He gave a very detailed, itemized estimate. There were no hidden fees or charges, and we stayed on budget and on schedule. BMA by far exceeded our expectations and gave us the most beautiful backyard. As I approached the front door, it was obvious, the store was closed. It was a Friday at 3:30pm. On the door was a note that if you need supplies, call the number provided. I almost walked away but really needed these items. Upon calling, a friendly answer said they work fewer hours due to the time of year and were currently on there way out of town. Bummer. I received an immediate call back and was told she would meet me at the store and in less than five minutes, the front door was open. Talk about customer service! I had a yellow algae growth on the walls and floor of my pool. I paid $349.52 in chemicals, etc., in a total of four trips to the store. Not only did the algae not go away, it actually got worse. I am not sure anyone there knows what they are doing. To make matters worse, I scheduled an appointment with them at 4:00 PM on my next to last visit to the store. Not only did the guy not show up (even though I got an email that very morning confirming the time of the appointment), but I never even received a call saying that he was hung up, etc. And this was after I called them that very afternoon (around 5:00 pm) inquiring where their guy was. I was told that the office would check with him and get back to me. They too never called me back. If you care about your money and your time, this is not the place to go. I followed up with a visit to Sweetwater Pools in Catonsville presenting the same problem. The expertise and the help I received there was 180 degrees different. My pool is now starting to get back to normal again, and Connie was terrific. There has to be a reason why every time I go into Sunshine, there never seems to be any other customers present.
