    Chicken parm

Called for last minute reservations and we got them. Also have gotten takeout. I like the lasagna (think it tastes even better as leftovers) and chicken parm. Tried the veal marsala and didn't like it as much as the other dishes. The farfalle with spinach, prosciutto, garlic and oil is so good. They welcomed my toddler although it is best if you come prepared (booster seat as there is no high chair).

Finally came here last night. Moved to Hoboken when I was 1 in 1987, lived here my whole life besides a few years in Boston for college, and had somehow never been to Augustino's. One reason I had never been is due to the difficulty in getting a table. A few times in the past I had called thinking I could get a same-day table and wasn't able to. Good things come to those who wait. Called on a Tuesday during the day and got a call back a few hours later to lock in a 2 person reservation for the next day at 6:30. Food was exceptional. We started with the soft-shell crab francese and the burrata, and both were delicious. That francese sauce was some of the best I've ever had, and both apps tasted freshly made to order and portions were solid. As far as the main courses, I got the veal parm and my wife got the lasagna. Both were delicious. My veal was cooked perfectly, came out piping hot, and the sauce was excellent. Would have liked a little more pasta under the cutlets but that's a small gripe. I tried my wife's lasagna and the ricotta cheese tasted incredibly fresh. Both portions overall were very large, even with my comment about wanting more pasta. Drinks were well made, and service was prompt. I see some negative comments about the service, but I felt it was good. Place is busy, and they do a good job attending to each table refilling drink orders and clearing plates. Overall I plan to come back soon and recommend you give it a try.

We came here the day before Valentine's Day and this place had the cutest valentines theme decor! Ambiance - cozy, rustic - red balloons and other Valentine's Day decor added a romantic vibe - small dining area so you typically need to make a reservation to get a spot Service - waiter patiently explained the menu and even gave us a free icebox cake because it was our first time here - food came relatively quickly Food - fontina cheese in carozza - this is an Italian grillled cheese! The sandwich was split in half for us. The cheese was so melty and delicious - chicken parm- this portion was huge!! Cheese was melty and covered the chicken parm. Marinara had a fresh flavor and the penne was cooked perfectly aldente - ice box cake- light chocolate flavor and has a spongy texture. Delicious!

Walked by on a Saturday night and noticed some bar seats available. When we walked in, we were told that the bar service was first come first serve and that the restaurant is cash only. There is not an ATM on site, but there is one close by. When we returned to the restaurant, we were able to claim those empty bar seats and have such a delicious dinner! Denise, the bartender, was outstanding. She was honest with her recommendations and every single one of them was spot on. I got the chicken cacciatore and my brother got the spicy chicken Parmesan. Both were outstanding! The other highlight of our meal was the white wine muscles that we had for our appetizer. The broth of the muscles was incredible! I would say that this restaurant can be a place to celebrate a special occasion, or it can just be for a delicious night out. I do believe that if you want to sit at a table, you need to make a reservation well in advance. Will definitely come back and try other menu items!

Love Augustinos! Live in the neighborhood and having been coming to see Sharon, Denise and the gang and last night for a holiday dinner did not disappoint. We recommend this place to anyone who wants the best Italian in the area and will definitely come back. See you in 2025!

The hostess who makes reservations is so rude. The first time we called she offered us a Tuesday reservation and when we asked for a weekend, she said, "well that's not what you asked for." Hung up. Second time we called for a reservation she asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor. We asked for a minute to check the weather, and she said, "Hurry up. I don't have time for that." Food is incredibly average and bland. Go to Corto in JC instead for good pasta. Only positive was they let us make any pasta dish vegetarian since it's made to order. The waitress said we could do any entree as a half order. Then we got the bill and they charged us extra for half orders. After ordering, we overheard the same grumpy old hostess say, "Why are they doing half orders? Just pick one!" The entire time, we were rushed and reminded that we had to be out in an hour. The prices on our bill didn't match the prices on the menu either. And why do they only take cash in 2022? IRS needs to take a look at their books.

After eating my way through Hoboken over the last 10 years, I FINALLY made my way to Augustino's. Let me tell you I'm so sad I didn't come years ago. This place feels incredibly homey and comfortable - like you're at grandmas house. Reservations are a MUST as there's only a handful of tables. Also worth noting it is cash only. Some of the must try things here are the chicken parm and the icebox cake. I'm still thinking about this cake as I write this review. Besides that, we shared the mussels and the shrimp marinara for apps. The sauce was delicious. Great for sopping up with the bread. I had the sunday sauce special which came with what felt like a pound of meat. All delicious. Can't wait to come back here again.

Another fantastic meal at Augustinos! They never disappoint. Have been consistently putting out the best Italian in the area for years! Every time we go back we are welcomed warmly by Christine and Sharon. We started with shrimp marinara and shrimp franccaise. Both were delicious. The linguine and clams and zuppa di pesce were terrific!the chicken parmigiana is still the best around. Can't wait to go back again!!!!

Authentic Italian... As long as you order their homemade pasta. Please note that on the menu they have a specific section for the pasta they make by hand and the pasta they do not. I heard a table next to us saying something again to the positive taste homemade but they ordered from a section where it didn't say it was lol. What makes this place great is you can pretty much make whatever kind of dish you want when it comes to the pasta. They offer a variety of sauces as well. Surprisingly on this night, I wasn't very hungry and I ended up only getting their soup, which was also delicious. The chicken franchise was delicious, as well as the eggplant Parmesan. However, looking around at the restaurant, I can see the winner is the chicken Parmesan and the muscles. They seem to be very popular dishes. Not only is the food here great, but it is affordable. The only mention I will make as a knock against it is it gets extremely loud in there. This is not somewhere you want go for a date... Or if you intend on talking to anyone you're eating with and hearing what they have to say haha. That's only for the indoor section though. I'm sure outdoor is less intense with the sound. We will definitely be back!

We were super impressed with Otto Strada. We arrived early on a Friday and were happy there was no wait. Reservations are not accepted. He was also super friendly and was able to help us navigate the menu and helped me with Gluten free options. We opted for the pear salad. I got a limoncello chicken and my husband got a pork chop. All the food was super delicious. It's a challenge for me to get a good meal being gf and dairy free now and this was perfection. Chris was able to put things on the side and recommended the perfect dishes! We had dessert also which was a GF banana cake with Gelato. It was delish. My only complaint was I thought the desserts were small and a little pricey. If priced a little less, we would have ordered 2 or 3. I…read morehad been eager to try their pies, as well as their full meals, but only just made it to their dimly lit, hip and happening main dining room. The space was not large, but they really made the most of it, offering a decent number of tables with reasonable space between them. My friend and I were quickly seated and immediately greeted by a charming server that opened our bottle of wine (it's BYO) and offered us still or sparkling water. I had read in other reviews that you had to pay for water, so I was not surprised by the $6 bottle of Saratoga that wound up on our bill. In addition to our engaging server and the happening atmosphere, the food was similarly incredible. We decided to order a load of things to share, so that we could try a greater variety. We started with two appetizers that were seasonal Spring additions to the menu. The Hamachi Crudo included five thickly-sliced, tender pieces of Japanese yellowtail sitting in a broth of rhubarb aguachile and topped with white strawberries and basil seeds. It was an unique blend that we would not have expected to work, but boy was it delicious! The sweet toppings infused a load of flavor into an otherwise mild fish. We also enjoyed the Fava-mole, a creamy puree of fava beans studded with balls of hand-pulled mozzarella and pea tendrils, all drizzled with zesty ramp oil. I had not been sure what to expect from the dish, but it offered fresh, bright garden flavors. We also decided to share a pasta course and an entree. The Fettuccini was tossed with spring truffles and maitakes in a light, yet heavily aromatic, wild mushroom cream sauce. It was one of the best dishes I had had in quite some time. Then, as we were waiting on our seafood entree, we received a second pasta, courtesy of the Chef. I had mentioned that I had heard rave reviews about Flour from a server at Heirloom Kitchen, a top NJ restaurant. Apparently, our waiter had let the Chef know about that glowing praise, and the kitchen further verified that positivity with the generous gesture. In fact, they wound up sending out the Linguine with white clam sauce, razor clams, and wild ramps, the other dish about which I had been most curious anyway. Well, it was another winner! It was garlicky, herbaceous, and rich with flavors of the sea. Speaking of seafood, we next received the Branzino 'Bahn mi', a perfectly cooked piece of Mediterranean sea bass with Vietnamese sausage and pickled vegetables. The branzino's crispy skin and flaky, moist interior were excellent, and we loved all of the other smoky and briny flavors on the plate. After all of that excellent food, we would have loved to try one of their appealing desserts, but we were just too full. Between the ambiance, welcoming vibe, and delicious cuisine, our Flour experience was simply divine! It has now became one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and I cannot wait to try their pizza at some point as well.

I ordered the Mexican street corn, which was unique, flavorful, and delicious. I also tried some of the spicy rigatoni and loved it. We ended the night with the s'mores dessert, which was rich and chocolatey. Also, the fact that the restaurant is BYOB is a huge plus! The only downside was that I lost an item during our visit. I had a really hard time finding their contact information online, so I had to go back in person to ask about it, which was a bit annoying. Ultimately, they weren't able to recover it, but the food itself was still outstanding.
