This is a typical family Italian/pizzeria type place. The menu features a variety of pizza and pasta options along with sandwiches and fried appetizers. Because of the fairly large menu, it is a great place to take a larger group or picky eaters. The interior is a bit cheesy but yet typical of this type of establishment. I've been here twice. Once I ordered a pasta dish. The pasta bolognese tasted fine but was not what most places would consider a bolognese. My husband had the lasagna and really enjoyed it. On another visit we had sandwiches which were decent but nothing memorable. The wait times did seem to be long compared to the number of people actually in the restaurant. They also seem to get a bit flustered when there is a large group even when they knew to expect the large group. Middle of the road, family style food. The menu is offers a large selection from pastas, pizzas, hoagies, salads, etc. in addition to daily specials. I had the baked cheese ziti and portion was quite large. It had plenty of cheese (which is a good thing) and salad was large sized. Food was decent, but not the best in Pittsburgh. Portions are huge. The Calzone would feed a medium sized family. Beer selection is pedestrian at best. They are missing the boat here. Pizza was ok. Wedding soup was good. In Pittsburgh that's big. Calzone was good and huge. Fish was also good. Sub was very good. Italian Superheroes. Service was very poor, and incredibly slow. On a Monday in July. Sicilian pizza was also huge, and good. Thin crust large was ok. Dough was passable. Sauce bland. Cheese good. Passable, but not the best by a far cry. The bright spot was wedding soup. In Pittsburgh that is big, as there is a lot of good wedding soup here. There is so much excellent pizza in this town. This does not rate among them. Craft beer is so popular now. To not even sell Sam Adams in bottles is a travesty. This place markets as a higher end pizza spot. With low end beer choices, and poor service, there are so many choices near here. Not horrible, but average. Not worth going out of your way. I travelled 15 miles to try. I have been a customer for decades. That ends today. I ordered a jumbo supreme pizza - I read it from the text message my husband sent me. No mistakes. This is what my 77 year old husband wanted as his last meal before major heart by-pass surgery. I picked the pizza up and got home at 8:00 pm to find a jumbo CHEESE pizza. I called and they claim it is my mistake because the order taker SAYS he read it back to me. Anthony's was unwilling to do anything without charging me for a supreme pizza. I want to preface this with the fact that we do not live near Coraopolis and we do not go out that way much, if at all. We were meeting up with some family members who were visiting town for a College hockey game at the RMU Island Sports Center, so we sought something nearby. After we tried one other spot that was takeout only, we ended up here instead. The place seemed a tad outdated, but other than that, everyone was nice, the service was slow although pleasant and the food was decent. No complaints other than some of the sandwiches were excessively bready (cut up the meatballs and spread them out a bit for the meatball sub and it is indeed better). I had the gnocchi and house salad that came with it. Sauce was good (not my family's sauce but good enough and better than a lot of places), the gnocchi seemed not frozen (I could be wrong), and the house salad was huge for side salad standards. Loved the Balsamic Vinaigrette that they had too. My main complaint was the wait time for our food when they were not busy. Seems like there are a lot of deliveries coming out of there so that must slow the dining in orders down. If you are ever in this area, and looking for a place to dine, this is a solid choice given the limited options in the area. read more

I have been coming here for about 10 years and it's reliably good. The service is always prompt and the waitresses are nice and helpful, but not in your face, which is what I prefer. The wedding soup is delicious and the bread sticks are my favorite of anywhere -- crispy on the outside but not hard and smothered in parmasean and butter. All of the pastas are tasty and the portions are very large. My BF wanted penne alla vodka, their vodka sauce is all white but they offered to mix some red in with him since that's what he was craving and everything is made to order. I had a sausage calzone and WOW - it was HUGE. Easily enough for 5-6 meals for me. It looked like an extra large pizza folded in half! It was really tasty and was just as good for lunch the next day. I'm so torn with this place. My daughter and I have had some decent pizza here, while waiting for her sister to finish her ballet class. When I've asked the server what is good, she says everything--I hate that answer, because you know she doesn't like everything. So when I ask about greens and beans, she says people seem to really like them. So those people obviously don't include her. So I ordered it. Omg it looked like someone opened a can of slimy cannolini beans without rinsing them and dumped them on a plate with greens. Needless to say it was gross and I'd never order them again. wow wow wow! this place is incredible. I normally don't do Italian restaurant... cause NOBODY cooks better than my Italian grandma could. And most Italian restaurants these days have been americanized. I was told to get the calzone. My sister ordered the pasta which was very good. The price for the calzone seemed a bit high for a typical calzone, but that didn't matter to me. I ordered it. Then it came to my table. HUGE! Half as tall as me this calzone. And filled with all sorts. Of course I was unable to eat it all and took me 2 days to finish it off. So no matter what you order here, you'll need a doggie bag or share a plate with someone. Really... portions are giant! But outside of the food, they have this lovely Italian group that come in and play giving it a real Italian feel. And they play the mouse song my Italian family played when I was young. Really a lovely restaurant! I am so sad to say that this place was so disappointing. The waitresses are very unprofessional. The prices are absolutely ridiculous when the food lacks quality. I ordered wedding soup that tasted old and burnt. Their pasta sauce is not very good, and the salad is really just lettuce. I really hope that changes are made because this place has a great location and potential. The decor also needs updated. Maybe some items can be eliminated from the large menu so that the chefs can focus on quality? Segneri's (also in Cory) has better prices and MUCH better food quality. read more

We recently moved to Coraopolis and was looking for a good restaurant. We were told about Anthony Jr's. DO NOT go to this place! I called and placed our first pick up order and it was a nightmare. I placed an order using a coupon, which was to include an XL Pizza, whole hoagie, wings, 2 Liter bottle of pop,and breadsticks. When I picked up the order, they gave me a small pizza, the hoagie, pop and breadsticks but NO WINGS. I asked for my wings and the said I had to pay for them, I told them it was part of the coupon and they said i didn't order CORRECTLY. The girl out front tried to help and said they would "Sneak" me the wings for free, but wouldn't do anything about the pizza. I asked to see the manager and he refused to come out and speak with me. WHAT A POOR WAY TO SERVICE YOUR CLIENTELE. The utter lack of willingness by the restaurant manager to discuss an order with an unsatisfied customer is completely unprofessional. I have eaten here a number of times. The staff has always been very attentive, food is enough for two meals Ann's i always take half home. They have the BEST garlic bread around. The sauce is tall and can't be from a can. They will sell you a quart to take home too. At Christmas they have a Verdi nice display in the window. Reminds me of my childhood when everybody would go out for Christmas. I haven't had the pizza but people at my wife's work day out is the best around. We are new to the area and had heard a lot about Anthony Jrs from friends in the area, so we decided to give it a try. I'll tell you just why I have it 5 stars. 1. We were promptly greeted by our server when heading to their bar area, who was extremely friendly. We mentioned we were new to the area and she let us know about the menu and the best things to order. Always good when your given suggestions. 2. There wasn't much going on for just a lunch shift which was completely okay with me. Our server was prompt with everything. Refilling our drinks and delivering our food in a timely fashion. 3. The food was DELICIOUS! We took our servers recommendation of hoagies and piZza. I got the house salad (huge portion) and we shared potato skins (which were home made with real bacon and potatoes!) we both got steal hoagies and my boyfriend got a small buffalo chicken pizza. This has a casual Italian feel and the night we were there they had live entertainment and our table was serenaded to "That's Amore". We got three different pizzas and all were tasty. Very disappointing experience. I drove with my son nearly 15 miles to eat here, remembering it as a great place with good food. Instead, the wait was too long, my soup wasn't hot, the BLT was just passable and the service was horrible. When I pointed out these deficiencies to the waitress Sadie), she became defensive and downright hostile. She returned the bill and my credit card by literally throwing it at me without a simple apology for the whole experience.
