I also want to acknowledge that my experience at the Bella office in Philadelphia was very positive. The staff there was professional, welcoming, and made it easy to communicate concerns. Unfortunately, my experience at the Bensalem office has been very disappointing and has significantly affected my confidence in this practice environment. My concern is not that issues arise during orthodontic treatment. Adjustments, follow-ups, and unexpected discomfort are a normal part of the process. My concern is how patients are treated when those issues arise and the overall level of care, patience, and professionalism shown toward patients. I repeatedly felt that patient concerns were treated as inconveniences rather than opportunities to provide support. Instead of feeling understood, I often felt the focus was placed on the fact that I needed to return, creating the impression that the patient's concerns were being treated as the problem rather than the concern itself being addressed. One interaction that stood out involved a senior tech at the Bensalem office. When she came over to evaluate me while I was seated in the chair, I greeted her multiple times and was ignored. Later, when she did speak to me, she asked, "Weren't you already here a couple times?" The tone came across as condescending and dismissive. Returning with concerns during orthodontic treatment is normal, and patients should never feel questioned or made to feel like a burden for seeking help. Additionally, my experience with the office manager was extremely upsetting. During a phone call where I was placed on hold but the line remained open, I overheard comments that were unprofessional and deeply disappointing. Hearing my concerns discussed in that manner was deeply disrespectful and uncomfortable. These interactions created a pattern where concerns were shifted back onto the patient instead of being approached with professionalism, empathy, and genuine care. A healthcare office should foster an environment where patients feel respected, supported, and comfortable advocating for themselves, asking questions, and reporting discomfort without fear of being criticized or labeled difficult. I want to emphasize that I appreciate Dr. Hodge and the team members who have treated me with kindness. However, the way I was treated by certain staff members at the Bensalem office, including dismissive interactions, condescending remarks, and a lack of patient-centered care, has significantly impacted my trust in this practice and my decision to seek continued care with another orthodontic office. It is especially concerning when these experiences involve leadership within the office, as those interactions shape the overall patient experience and reflect the standard of professionalism, respect, and patient care that patients can expect. After doing a little research, I came across a mouth device, called Thornton Adjustable Positioner, (TAP 3), which is a mouth device much like an Invisalign. The next step would be to figure out which orthodontist would offer the device. I made an appointment to see Dr. Iyer at Dr. Segal and Iyer Orthodontics, located at 501 NJ - 73 #202 Marlton New Jersey. I can honestly say I've never been to a facility more organized, and with 21st-century technology. Dr. Iyer was extremely amazing! She was able to sit with me and educate me on exactly how the device worked and how it's going to benefit my sleep habits. I will definitely recommend anyone with sleep apnea or any orthodontic issues to see Dr. Iyer. You will not be disappointed.
