2 Stars for the delicious food, kind servers and beautiful atmosphere right on the river...but that's where the praise ends. My family loves to come to Anthonys for special occasions and we've always had top notch experiences until this visit. My family came here recently for my elderly father's special birthday. Our group got seated on time, but that's where the promptness ended. It took a very long time for someone to check in with us and take our drink order, no biggie as we all like each other and don't mind spending the time. Drinks came, except for my sisters wine, that came 25 minutes later. It took another very long time to get our order taken. And you guessed it, a very long time to get the food. I will add that the resto was only about 1/3 full on this particular evening, so not busy at all (this was not a Friday or Saturday night). So something was amiss for sure. 2/3 of our group ordered salads to enjoy before the main course. Only they didn't come out first. After much time, all the food came out at once (2 hours after getting seated at our reservation time). What's the point of an appetizer when it comes out with the dinner? We all had our food, except for the birthday boy. By the time dad's food came out (at least 15 minutes later), everyone else's food was cold. Errrrr. When questioning what was happening everyone was again very nice, but the answers were pretty corporate (I can sniff this stuff out pretty well). The Anthony's staff is SO nice, but there's definitely an execution/timing problem at this restaurant, at least lately. I understand that a 6 top isn't going to be a speedy execution, but this was different and we definitely weren't anticipating a 3 hour dinner - no exaggeration. They comped us desserts and 1 entree which was very kind, but I really hope Anthony's gets the service together so that we can feel good about coming back here again. read more

I love this Anthony's location! We've been to the one south of Seattle which felt dated but this Anthony's in Bend is very nice inside, located right on the river, expansive with high ceiling and big windows. I enjoyed a most delicious fresh Copper River salmon dinner and my partner enjoyed the blackened rockfish. Coconut prawns were a refreshing starter instead of the usual chowder or salad that we often gravitate to. Service was attentive and pleasant. Highly recommend if you're in the area and thinking of fish or seafood. read more

Anthony's is gigantic inside, almost feels like it was built to welcome a king. When you walk through the doors, you know you're in for a treat. At least that's what they imply with all this larger than life architecture. I had a few drinks at the bar, testing various cocktails while we waited for a seat. Then my family and I were seated by a 16 year old somewhere dark and moody with riverside views. Kinda romantic if you were on a date. The Gen Alpha waiter didn't understand humor unfortunately and probably thought we were all unc. For some reason the menu seemed to lack variety and I felt forced to pick finger food instead of gluten and or giant meaty dishes that cost 50+ ...I can't ever finish those anyways. The Hawaiian nachos were not nachos, but some poke on little tostada things with some crema on top. Kinda underwhelming for 15 dollars. They were nice but more of a sharing dish, too much fishy flavor and lack of variety for one. I wonder why the menu is so boxed in and uninspired, like can we get a bit of creativity outside of appetizers? For a place with such a powerful presence, I expected more. read more

Great food, wonderful service. I was really disappointed leased to find a place in Bend that had non-fried fish, and Anthony's delivered. I had the halibut with potatoes, snap peas, and mashed potatoes. Everything was tasty, and I would definitely order the same again. My only issue is the portion of fish was a bit small for the price, but the place is popular, so I get it. I'll be back for sure. read more

Stopped in at Anthony's in Bends for lunch and had a fantastic experience. We sat inside, but still had a beautiful view of the river through the large windows--peaceful and perfect for a relaxing midday meal. Our waitress was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just right without hovering. She kept our water glasses full and checked on us often. We ordered a variety of seafood dishes and loved every bite: * Fish tacos - super fresh with bright, balanced flavors. We ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos, Blackened Rockfish Tacos, and Wild Salmon Tacos. * Clam chowder - rich and creamy, packed with clams * Oysters - fresh and briny, served ice cold. They were so delicious and fresh, we had to refrain from over ordering * Calamari - tender and crispy, not greasy at all * Seafood dip - creamy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing with the warm delicious bread * Bread - warm, crusty, and perfect with butter, the chowder or dip. It was so delicious we had 2 helpings Every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Portions for the tacos were a bit smaller but luckily we had all the prior appetizers that helped make us content. Overall, Anthony's was wonderful. Nice restaurant in the shopping area. It was a sunny evening so we enjoyed the sunset during our late lunch. The service was great. Our appetizers were better than our entrees. My partner had a clam chowder and I had a Caesar salad. His clam chowder was a cute little size but creamy and delicious. My Caesar salad was perfect. The right amount of dressing and cheese. Their dressing was light and not very zesty (common issue I have with most Caesar salad dressings). Our entrees were more of a 3/5. My partner had mixed feelings about his clam linguini. Good taste but wished there were a little more clams. I liked the roasted shrimp and veggies, but did not like whatever was added to the basmati rice. I think the menu says almond but did not taste like it. If the rice was better, I think this dish could be tied together much better. Besides the food being edible, the only downfall that we had was the fact that everything on the menu was over-priced for the portions that you received as a meal. Nice view of Deschutes river! The high ceiling is really help us enjoying our big table lunch conversations. The seafood are fresh and tasty. We had three different types of fresh oysters. The salad is also fresh and deliciously goes with perfectly cooked salmon. Parking might be hard to find but if you like to walk then parking would not be an issue. Not many people on Saturday lunch. We stayed in Bend, Oregon on our way to Washington state and decided to try a restaurant near the river. The hostess was so amazing and made a very good impression and our table was perfect!! We decided on small plates, salad and wine. We ordered the steamed clams, fried calamari, and house salad. We expected the salad to be nothing special; however, it had baby shrimp and blue cheese crumbles with shaved fennel...it was the best thing we had along with the warm sour dough bread. The calamari could have been fried a little more and the steamed clams were just ok. The broth lacked substance and was not quite as flavorful (maybe more garlic, butter, or salt??). We enjoyed some local area wine and overall was a good experience. The Old Mill District was amazing and we will definitely be back! read more

Wish no stars was an option: Interesting night... Reservations were at 7:30pm, we arrived early. Guess what time we had our order taken.... 8:05pm. And we had to prompt the server.... When did we get bread and butter? 8:30pm maybe... we didn't even get silverware so how did we eat the bread and butter? You ask me... we took a piece of bread and took a piece of butter with our hands. I am beyond hungry at the point. It's 8:49pm. And I thought Anthony's closes at 9pm. I guess not?? We finally got the food we ordered at 8:50pm They know how to make their bread crispy but not their potatoes. Other than that the food was actually really good. 1/2 Food and service here can be a bit of a hit or miss. Sometimes everything is great, and other times it falls a bit short. Because of that inconsistency, I don't usually go out of my way to eat here, but your experience might be different. I'd give it about 3.5 stars overall, as there's definitely room for improvement. I was in Bend, Oregon on business and wanted a nice sit down meal after a crazy long day and Anthony's fit the bill while also being near my hotel. The restaurant is classy and upscale with a decore of medium-dark wood where ever possible and spacious seating/dining areas in keeping with what I would expect from a restaurant in the heart of a mountain community of Oregon. I was seated, almost immediately, upon walking in without a reservation, past the expansive bar to a dining area with huge floor to ceiling windows....that was not surprisingly full. Apparently, I wasn't the only one wanting a classy sit down dinner. Lots of people in business casual...taking business, reconnecting with friends and obvious 1st dates. The menu was had a lot to choose from even for a picky person...me I could have had everything on this menu, everything sounded delicious. With some advice from the friendly server I ended up going with: -roasted Brussels spouts: I loved them! -crispy calamari with lemon aioli: very crispy, just the way I liked them. I practically inhaled them. -wild seared Mahi Mahi Poke -peppermint sundae: recommended by my server! And so good I forgot to take a pic! lol Overall, a wonderful restaurant in both experience and food. I'm not in the Bend Oregon area very often but when I do come back it would be difficult not to have dinner here again or recommending it as a place to take my clients. read more

I tried to love this place because the location is great and their menu looked even better. I am having a hard time trying to find a reason to recommend this restaurant, but I can't. I came in on a Wednesday late afternoon because they posted on their website they had a happy hour with cocktails and a nice bar menu. We'll, they don't have happy hour when there is an evening concert across the river. (Pretty much 5 months of the year, May-September.) They only have some reduced prices on a few cocktails which can only be ordered while standing by the bar (there are no bar seats anywhere near the bar) and if you want to order any food, they will hand you a number plaquar to know where to deliver your order because you can't sit and eat inside unless you have a reservation. I was still interested in the menu so I made an online reservation to return later that evening for dinner and asked to sit outside because the weather was so nice. Reservation was honored! (Yay, 1 star) We were seated by a nice hostess and our server Lindey was also very sweet but not very experienced in my opinion because she didn't know the difference between a bourbon on the rocks and an Old Fashion cocktail which is what she brought to our table. Our Dungeness Crab appetizer was delivered hot and the bread was perfectly toasted. It was creamy and good. Then we gave our dinner order and from that point, it all went downhill. My husband ordered the Grilled fish with greenbeans and he felt like it had been sitting under a warmer for too long. I ordered a Dungeness Crab dinner which was the main reason for dining here since it is not a dish that I can get fresh in my hometown. 30 minutes passed before I was informed that they had no Dungeness Crab that night. I questioned why it was in the appetizers but not available as a main. Guess I now know what is fresh versus frozen from the menu. Prices reflected fresh seafood. I didn't find anything else on the menu that interested me except more of the appetizer Dungeness Crab so I got the stuffed mushrooms. They sounded good and honestly they were very good but I had now waited another 30 minutes. The server kindof disappeared and told us she was so afraid to come back to our table because the food situation was so messed up. We were offered a loaf of warm sourdough bread and herb butter while waiting. It too was really nice but we had really hoped for a nice dinner while on vacation and this place was really more of a tourist trap than a locals fresh seafood establishment. Our meal was over and we were done! I will add that the server knew that we shouldn't pay for all the mistakes so some of our food was taken off the check. Thank you for sharing our pain. I don't think I can recommend this place as the food is good but the management really killed it for us. read more

FANTASTIC. The Caesar salad was prepared perfectly, and I mean, perfectly. Preparation for this salad is difficult, actually. It's not as simple as it looks. When it comes out this way, you're in heaven. Fresh lettuce. The Romain lettuce must be perfectly fresh. Crisp. You'd be surprised, how often the lettuce ruins the salad, even though the dressing is perfect. In this case, no worries. ADD: freshly grated Parmesan Reggiano! Now, let's move to the dressing. You don't clumpy, thick, or disgusting. You want a nice clean Caesar dressing, which is what we have here. I mean seriously, this is the best Caesar Salad I've ever had. Service, spectacular (at the bar). I also had a mushroom appetizer. That was also spectacular. I didn't want to ruin the photos by cluttering up a mushroom appetizer on top of things. In this case, it's all about the Caesar Salad. This place is off the charts. And, of all places, Bend, Oregon. Happy I dropped by...and also enjoyed an oatmeal stout on TAP!!! We stopped into Anthony's for pre show cocktail and a slice of cheesecake. It was a concert night and the bar was slammed. We had Dylan and Cole at the bar. These 2 were so nice and friendly even though they were crazy busy. Such great attitudes and fun to watch them with friendly banter and joking and working. I was so impressed with both gentleman. This is our highlight when visiting Bend. Since all of the Anthony's in the Seattle area have reached all time low in service and quality we no longer go to any of those locations. But we have this location a try since we had a customer service coupon we needed to use before expiration when visiting about 6 months ago. We were so pleasantly surprised. We always sit in the bar side and Dillan just may be the main reason we have such a pleasant experience. He is always ready to jump in when any of his fellow servers need a hand. Is respectful and hospitable. If the food wasn't good we would probably just come in and have drinks just to visit with Dillan. . Fortunately this location reminds us of the glory days of Anthony's. The food is always great and the few times there have been any issues it is immediately remedied and with grace. We are so happy to get to enjoy this restaurant. Wish the Management in the Seattle area would take some notes. The view of the river is nice at around sunset too. read more

I took two trips over the summer and both times I made sure to stop by Anthony's and I was not disappointed. The drinks a great! I enjoyed an aperol spritz on the first visit and a glass of rose on the second. The food was outstanding! Went there at 6 Pm on Wednesday and the place was packed. There were lots of seats at the bar but the hostess said " the y did not have enough staff so the wait would be at least 30 minutes, but she would text us." 2 hours later an still no text. We went elsewhere. Never got the text. read more

We have eaten at Anthony's in the Old Mill District many times and enjoyed it - with the exception of last night. The reception staff were BEYOND rude to my husband and I - but that was just the beginning. An employee by the name of Dillan exhibited the most disgusting behavior of all - he actually ended up being sent home as result. He was extremely loud, continually made sarcastic remarks directed at us as he passed by, even began muttering under his breath. Then he ordered us to leave the restaurant - after commenting to me about my "dyke hair style". My husband and I, and the manager as well, were entirely sickened by him and the manner in which he behaved. Never have we ever experienced an event as disturbing as this. There are consequences for behaviors - he should be fired. Period. There is no excuse to behave that way, in a restaurant or anywhere, really. The manager was most gracious - made the experience at least manageable. And ,for that, we were appreciative. Our server was fantastic and our meals were both great. Can't say that we will ever go back however. read more

Problems happen. It's how you deal with them that makes a great restaurant. My wife's meal came out very late and it was delicious. My meal was nowhere to be found. After another 20 minutes Anna came over to inform me that they ran out of fettuccine. She offered me another choice, but It was getting late. Our server, Reese, was very sweet and did her best to give us the attention she knew was needed, but I got the feeling the restaurant was understaffed. The restaurant itself felt like a prima Donna a bit past her prime, it felt old and tired. As others have mentioned, we placed our order in stages and everything came at once. My halibut was very overcooked, really only edible by pairing it with the mashed potatoes it was served on. The Coho salmon, my partner stated, was way too smoky and did not finish it. Reese did offer to replace the halibut, but at that point I had eaten over half of it and I didn't feel that was right. She did return and say the meal would be comped and offered us dessert as well. We chose the strawberry cheesecake and while it was okay, the crust had an odd savory flavor to it. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. Anthony's was the place where we had our Christmas dinner. It was one of the few times in the past couple years that we dined in. Reservations were made in advance on Open Table. They are located in the Old Mill District along the Deschutes River. They have a great view, especially in the daytime. For dinner, my wife had the salmon risotto, my daughter got a bowl of clam chowder and poke, and I got the steak and crab. They also brought out some bread with butter to us. The salmon was good, though my wife did not like the risotto. The clam chowder was good as my daughter finished it. But, she did not like their poke as she complained that part of her fish was seared. My steak was cooked medium rare. It was nice and tender. The crab was baked. It was the first time trying it baked. I liked it. Service was good. They checked up on us regularly and made sure our cups were filled. read more
