FANTASTIC. The Caesar salad was prepared perfectly, and I mean, perfectly. Preparation for this salad is difficult, actually. It's not as simple as it looks. When it comes out this way, you're in heaven. Fresh lettuce. The Romain lettuce must be perfectly fresh. Crisp. You'd be surprised, how often the lettuce ruins the salad, even though the dressing is perfect. In this case, no worries. ADD: freshly grated Parmesan Reggiano! Now, let's move to the dressing. You don't clumpy, thick, or disgusting. You want a nice clean Caesar dressing, which is what we have here. I mean seriously, this is the best Caesar Salad I've ever had. Service, spectacular (at the bar). I also had a mushroom appetizer. That was also spectacular. I didn't want to ruin the photos by cluttering up a mushroom appetizer on top of things. In this case, it's all about the Caesar Salad. This place is off the charts. And, of all places, Bend, Oregon. Happy I dropped by...and also enjoyed an oatmeal stout on TAP!!! I tried to love this place because the location is great and their menu looked even better. I am having a hard time trying to find a reason to recommend this restaurant, but I can't. I came in on a Wednesday late afternoon because they posted on their website they had a happy hour with cocktails and a nice bar menu. We'll, they don't have happy hour when there is an evening concert across the river. (Pretty much 5 months of the year, May-September.) They only have some reduced prices on a few cocktails which can only be ordered while standing by the bar (there are no bar seats anywhere near the bar) and if you want to order any food, they will hand you a number plaquar to know where to deliver your order because you can't sit and eat inside unless you have a reservation. I was still interested in the menu so I made an online reservation to return later that evening for dinner and asked to sit outside because the weather was so nice. Reservation was honored! (Yay, 1 star) We were seated by a nice hostess and our server Lindey was also very sweet but not very experienced in my opinion because she didn't know the difference between a bourbon on the rocks and an Old Fashion cocktail which is what she brought to our table. Our Dungeness Crab appetizer was delivered hot and the bread was perfectly toasted. It was creamy and good. Then we gave our dinner order and from that point, it all went downhill. My husband ordered the Grilled fish with greenbeans and he felt like it had been sitting under a warmer for too long. I ordered a Dungeness Crab dinner which was the main reason for dining here since it is not a dish that I can get fresh in my hometown. 30 minutes passed before I was informed that they had no Dungeness Crab that night. I questioned why it was in the appetizers but not available as a main. Guess I now know what is fresh versus frozen from the menu. Prices reflected fresh seafood. I didn't find anything else on the menu that interested me except more of the appetizer Dungeness Crab so I got the stuffed mushrooms. They sounded good and honestly they were very good but I had now waited another 30 minutes. The server kindof disappeared and told us she was so afraid to come back to our table because the food situation was so messed up. We were offered a loaf of warm sourdough bread and herb butter while waiting. It too was really nice but we had really hoped for a nice dinner while on vacation and this place was really more of a tourist trap than a locals fresh seafood establishment. Our meal was over and we were done! I will add that the server knew that we shouldn't pay for all the mistakes so some of our food was taken off the check. Thank you for sharing our pain. We stopped into Anthony's for pre show cocktail and a slice of cheesecake. It was a concert night and the bar was slammed. We had Dylan and Cole at the bar. These 2 were so nice and friendly even though they were crazy busy. Such great attitudes and fun to watch them with friendly banter and joking and working. I was so impressed with both gentleman. This is our highlight when visiting Bend. Since all of the Anthony's in the Seattle area have reached all time low in service and quality we no longer go to any of those locations. But we have this location a try since we had a customer service coupon we needed to use before expiration when visiting about 6 months ago. We were so pleasantly surprised. We always sit in the bar side and Dillan just may be the main reason we have such a pleasant experience. He is always ready to jump in when any of his fellow servers need a hand. Is respectful and hospitable. If the food wasn't good we would probably just come in and have drinks just to visit with Dillan. . Fortunately this location reminds us of the glory days of Anthony's. The food is always great and the few times there have been any issues it is immediately remedied and with grace. We are so happy to get to enjoy this restaurant. Wish the Management in the Seattle area would take some notes. The view of the river is nice at around sunset too. read more

Went there at 6 Pm on Wednesday and the place was packed. There were lots of seats at the bar but the hostess said " the y did not have enough staff so the wait would be at least 30 minutes, but she would text us." 2 hours later an still no text. We went elsewhere. Never got the text. read more

We have eaten at Anthony's in the Old Mill District many times and enjoyed it - with the exception of last night. The reception staff were BEYOND rude to my husband and I - but that was just the beginning. An employee by the name of Dillan exhibited the most disgusting behavior of all - he actually ended up being sent home as result. He was extremely loud, continually made sarcastic remarks directed at us as he passed by, even began muttering under his breath. Then he ordered us to leave the restaurant - after commenting to me about my "dyke hair style". My husband and I, and the manager as well, were entirely sickened by him and the manner in which he behaved. Never have we ever experienced an event as disturbing as this. There are consequences for behaviors - he should be fired. Period. There is no excuse to behave that way, in a restaurant or anywhere, really. The manager was most gracious - made the experience at least manageable. And ,for that, we were appreciative. Our server was fantastic and our meals were both great. Can't say that we will ever go back however. read more

Anthony's was the place where we had our Christmas dinner. It was one of the few times in the past couple years that we dined in. Reservations were made in advance on Open Table. They are located in the Old Mill District along the Deschutes River. They have a great view, especially in the daytime. For dinner, my wife had the salmon risotto, my daughter got a bowl of clam chowder and poke, and I got the steak and crab. They also brought out some bread with butter to us. The salmon was good, though my wife did not like the risotto. The clam chowder was good as my daughter finished it. But, she did not like their poke as she complained that part of her fish was seared. My steak was cooked medium rare. It was nice and tender. The crab was baked. It was the first time trying it baked. I liked it. Service was good. They checked up on us regularly and made sure our cups were filled. read more

Problems happen. It's how you deal with them that makes a great restaurant. My wife's meal came out very late and it was delicious. My meal was nowhere to be found. After another 20 minutes Anna came over to inform me that they ran out of fettuccine. She offered me another choice, but It was getting late. Our server, Reese, was very sweet and did her best to give us the attention she knew was needed, but I got the feeling the restaurant was understaffed. The restaurant itself felt like a prima Donna a bit past her prime, it felt old and tired. As others have mentioned, we placed our order in stages and everything came at once. My halibut was very overcooked, really only edible by pairing it with the mashed potatoes it was served on. The Coho salmon, my partner stated, was way too smoky and did not finish it. Reese did offer to replace the halibut, but at that point I had eaten over half of it and I didn't feel that was right. She did return and say the meal would be comped and offered us dessert as well. We chose the strawberry cheesecake and while it was okay, the crust had an odd savory flavor to it. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. We just tried to sit down in the bar and have a cocktail and appetizers to celebrate Christmas Eve. The restaurant was open and we chose a table in the bar. After waiting 5 minutes we were told we couldn't order anything but we could wait another 30 minutes to be served. This restaurant is located in a busy outdoor mall and all the stores are open. I have come to Anthony's for years and the service has always brought me back except for tonight. I was by myself so I was seated in the bar at a small table. I waited for 10 minutes till someone finally came and gave me water. I waited a little longer when I decided ask the bartender if I sat at the bar would he serve me. My coworkers and I are in town for a training, and we decided to have dinner at Anthony's. To be concise, I wasn't impressed. Here's my take on the pros and cons: Pros: The restaurant is beautifully located on the Deschutes River and offers ample indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit outside, which provided a lovely view of the sunset. The service was also commendable, with attentive and proficient servers. Cons: Unfortunately, the menu lacked diversity in options. It appears they could benefit from a new chef and kitchen staff. I ordered the black cod, but it was drowned in a sugary sauce, and both the rice pilaf and vegetables were severely overcooked. It's pretty hard to mess up rice. Additionally, the prices were exceptionally high, even considering we're in Bend. Given the abundance of excellent dining options in Bend, I can confidently say that I won't be returning to this restaurant. read more

Arrived at Anthony's 15 minutes late, due to a work issue. They did not honor our reservation, which would have been understandable except about half of the tables in the restaurant were unoccupied. In fact, although there were multiple seats in the bar, they refused our request to have a drink in the bar and wait for a table to "open up". I have two issues with the experience: clearly they are insanely understaffed, and the attitude that the two ladies (maybe one of them could be busing tables?) at the front desk exhibited was quite poor I thought. It looked like a nice enough place, but I would never eat there now. We had a lovely meal at Greg's Grill just down the street. read more

Went for a special valentine's dinner tonight and had a wonderful time! Our server, I wish I knew her name but she was absolutely fantastic! We were in the section to the right of the kitchen, cute area of tables that made it feel very intimate for a larger restaurant. We had the calamari for an appetizer, a Caesar salad to share, for entrees we had the steak with crab cake and the duet salmon special. We had the crème brûlée for dessert. Every menu item we ordered did not disappoint, it was all absolutely fantastic but our server really made the meal for us, she was so sweet and attentive. She even gave me an absolutely beautiful tulip before we left, she was so sweet. I usually don't leave reviews but this was such an amazing dining experience, from the food to the service, I felt I just had to share what a great night I got to experience. Anthony's is a Seattle-based chain of somewhat upscale restaurants. You won't need formal wear but it's above the norm for Bend. - Spacious inside with decently separated tables - Outstanding patio area on the river walk - Good happy hour bar area - Nice ambiance, no obnoxious music - Bar is well stocked, including a variety of local draft beers. Menu is not huge and strict vegetarians will have trouble. - King salmon plate: the most expensive non-steak entree, it looks to be not a large portion but, especially after an appetizer, it was more than enough for me. Well prepared fish, excellent mashed potatoes and crisp green beans. - Manila clams: nicely steamed and dressed. - Poke: not your typical poke bowl but tasty. - Desserts: we ordered three - all delicious. Service was top tier and there was absolutely no rush to move us along. At a time when the Delta variant has Bend in its grip, our server was masked (as were we when not at the table) but no other staff member was, nor but a few other customers. read more

Wife and I really like this place. Summer seating on the patio overlooking the "floaters" drifting leisurely down the pristine Deschutes river is magical. For us, retired restaurateurs and diehard foodies, one of the main strengths of this restaurant is its ownership of its own seafood company. What this means is that the holy grail of fish and chips, halibut, is on the menu for most of the summer. We went out of our way today for that specific dish. Great fries, wonderful ginger slaw, and golden panko-crusted chunks of halibut. Sadly, and surprisingly, our server, Dalton, informed us that apparently halibut was not available. He wasn't completely sure, so we asked him to check with the kitchen and if halibut was an option, we'd definitely prefer that over the cod. He brought out the cod version. Adequate, but nowhere near the exquisite flavor and texture of fresh Pacific halibut. On our way out I stopped by the open kitchen and asked the chef when halibut would be back on the menu. He looked perplexed, and said that of course it was on the menu. He even offered to "drop" a portion into the fryer for us. Unfortunately, we were full and had to decline his generous offer. SO, our illustrious server, Dalton, didn't bother to check. Apparently it wasn't important to him. The chef asked who our server was, and we informed him. If this guy worked for us and this happened, he'd be collecting unemployment. read more

Went to happy hour, we have been a number of times with mixed results. In hind sight, we have had mediocre experiences pretty much every time, but have kind of forgotten about them and went back to try again. Had a big family get together, they put us in a corner and forgot about us, we felt embarrassed to have brought family from out of town here. But back to my happy hour experience. Had to wait for one of the multiple dirty tables to be cleared in the bar, the greeter was very helpful and just did it himself. Ordered drinks, salad and tempura shrimp off the happy hour menu , received our tempura shrimp, VERY SALTY and no tempura sauce like we have received every time in the past. Ask for the sauce and we're told they have never had that. In fact they doubled down and told us we were wrong that they had ever had it. They called over another waitress who said she thought they had changed last summer. We were there in December, in the bar, and had tempura shrimp with the sauce. The frustrating thing is being told I'm wrong, and doubling down and reiterating it. When I know I had it just over a month ago. They clearly don't need or want the business of regular locals. What's the old saying? Treat people how you would like to be treated. I feel we could have been treated better on a slow Tuesday in a mostly empty restaurant. Just my opinion based on my experience.
