I liked this place a lot more than I expected. We have the Hawaiian ahi nachos (which was four chips with toppings) , the fried oysters, and the calamari. All were very good albeit a little expensive even during happy hour. But they had a good selection of local beers and the service was good. Would love to go back. read more

more stars if possible.went to anthonys on a fri.lat afternoon.and we were seated right away in the bar area,on a high table,the hostess/bartender (soon) was an amazing lady .she was very very cordial and so helpful with drinks and menue,,,we eat out alot ,and this lady was superb at her job,,i had the cod dinner ,it was lightly battered,almost not at all ,but it was beyond exelant.alonf with fries,,other guests had salads and calimari.which was awesome,,bartender soon came and refilled water and was spot on with my drink,.we had wine ,tea and a strawberry dack,overall ,i would give anthonys a true 10 star for this time there ,and all other times,,whuich for me is twice a year,,p.s. to management,, bartender soon needs a raise,,she was amazing,,,also my relitives go to bend alot ,and say she is always the best hostess there and in bend read more

I haven't been back to Anthony's for a few years. Back then, I'd ordered my steak medium and it was served cold and very well done. It took the server forever to come by and ask how things were. I could tell the kitchen was backed up so I can't blame him for taking so long. I told him about my steak and he asked if I'd like another cooked correctly. I told him yes. The second steak came back and this one was worse than the first. I think they took the same steak and nuked it for about five minutes. My husband ordered the steak and lobster. His steak looked like a dried up hockey puck and the lobster had a rubber consistency. He took a bite of each and asked the server to take them back. The server was polite and adjusted our bill, but I can tell very embarrassed. My husband thought to give Anthony's a second chance. On a more recent visit, he ordered a cheeseburger and it was a raw mess. He had to send it back as well. Again, the server was embarrassed and apologized for whatever was going on in the kitchen. Until I hear otherwise from friends that the kitchen has improved their food, I won't be going back. Too bad, what a beautiful yet overly priced view. read more

Tried Anthony's for the first time last night. It is a nice place with good views of the river, and that's all the ambiance they really need. The wait staff was very professional and timely. I orderd the cod fish n chips and the panko breading was light and excellent. Fries decent but I didn't care for the ginger cole slaw. Still, a good meal. The problem was the wife's meal. She orderd wild salmon cooked on a cedar plank (it was not) and in the instant potatoes was supposed to be a vein of sweet potato, but it was missing in action. The main issue was that the entire plate, literally, swam in a huge pool of butter. The butter was supposed to have smoked red pepper, but none was present. So much it nearly ran off the plate. Essentially she had a plate of melted butter with salmon, snap peas and instant potatoes floating around. It was supposed to be a sauce, but I can assure you it was straight butter. I know the difference. She ate about 1/4 of it and gave up. So mine was a 4, hers a 1 and since we cannot give half stars will call it a 3 due to the wait staff and views. read more

Heard great things about the food here. Then we tried for a table for dinner after a long day of travel with the kids where we seemed to wait (& wait) as everyone else was seated but us. My kids started getting fussy as we waited and the hostess began rolling her eyes at us. Interesting that the Old Mill District "The Bulletin" suggested that it was family friendly dinning. My husband saw her do that and instantly walked out. We tried to get him back in as we did not know why he stormed out as just then the table was finally ready but he was OVER IT after seeing the rude behavior displayed by the staff. (So we went to Hola! Yum! 5 stars) So the next day, my Mom and I decided to try it again since husband and kids were out snowboarding. Barely being acknowledged by staff & then being seated on a dirty table ("ah-yes could you please clear our table?" "Yes I will as soon as I have time"-?!) we asked for a couple of suggestions; to which we were informed of the long day the waiter had had so we should just order what we like. Unreal! Food was ok on some better on others but I could not get over the attitude displayed not on one occasion but twice in a 24 by the staff. Speechless. Thanks Anthony's we see how it is. This place blows. The food is edible, but just a small step above a Red Lobster, and double the price. It took about an hour to get our lunch, and it wasn't busy at all. They even charge for refills, but don't mention that. Nobody does that anymore. The calamari appetizer looked pretty good, until we picked the top layer off to reveal a mountain of cabbage under it. This is just a crappy chain restaurant at best. When you go to the Old Mill, best food is Flat Bread, or you can walk a short distance to one of many great places to eat around the box factory. We've been to Anthony's now four times. Each time we hoped for something better than what we were getting. The location is great. However the food is less than average, and uninspiring, and overall very bland. The drinks were watered down. Service at times seemed unfocused. If you're a tourist coming into town for a great view but don't mind really poor food and have a lot of money to spend this is a place for you. But for anybody who really enjoys a good meal, Move on All in all a pretty big disappointment especially considering the price read more

We had a very pleasant experience. We had a 6:30PM reservation and we were seated outside within 5 minutes. The server was prompt and pleasant. I had the cajun rockfish with rice and it was splendid. I had our grandkids with us and they enjoyed their salmon tacos and "salmon swimmer" and for dessert, they had a wonderful (BIG) Oregon berry ice cream sundae which was fabulous! The food was OK as chain restaurants go, but the most annoying thing was how terribly cold the entire restaurant was. I had to keep my coat on the entire meal. It was also so dark we couldn't see our food to eat it. One redeeming note, the manager asked how our meal was on the way out. I commented on the temperature and lighting and the manager offered us a coupon for an appetizer for our next visit. We thanked him but declined his offer as we were only visiting this city and did not anticipate being back for some time. read more

Not impressed. Treated like a minority the minute I walked in the door. Hostess' just looked at me with no acknowledgement. Sat in the bar area and bartender treated all other patrons with a lot more courtesy, then when it came it me, treated me as if I was taking up space. She laughed and joked with us, which made my lunch hour away from work incredibly fun and much needed. Chain-store restaurants are all alike. They spend their money on the wrong things - exorbitant rent for big spaces in pricey neighborhoods and layers of management, just to mention two. That means they can't spend money on good food, although they charge the same prices as credible restaurants. All their earnest attempts at good service can't make up for cheap-quality food, bland sauces and banal preparations. Bend is full of good restaurants. This isn't one of them...it's a chain-store restaurant. read more

I came in and ordered the Cobb salad for lunch. It sounded delicious! Shrimp, avocado, bacon, tomatoes and mango on a bed of greens. It comes with bleu cheese too but I ordered mine without. The salad cane with bay shrimp and I immediately started taking it off my plate - I was expecting shrimp! The waiter was attentive and asked if I wanted another salad a I told him no that I had somewhere to be. He looked at the menu and noticed that the other salads said bay shrimp but this one said Oregon shrimp. Within a minute the manager came and said she would have some prawns cooked up for me. The salad is delicious - the best salad I've had in years. It was perfectly dressed! I think I had the entire salad eaten by the time the shrimp came out!! YUM!! We come over to Bend from Portland about once a month, and Anthony's has always been one of our go-to restaurants. Yesterday was, what we hope, a major exception. The clam chowder was flour-y and not as flavorful as usual. The fish in the bouillabaisse was overcooked, and one of the mussels was unopened. The broth was watery and so over flavored with herbs that no other tastes could be detected. The Caesar salad was way overdressed with a rather atypical dressing. It seemed as though we were in a different restaurant, and not one of Anthony's caliber. We hope this is just a temporary anomaly. read more

Love the location right on the river. Great spot in summer to have a gin and tonic and watch the river floaters. Atmosphere is what keeps this place around because it certainly isn't the food. It's more of a fish and pasta restaurant than a seafood restaurant. Shellfish lovers will be disappointed. Very disappointed !!! Way over priced for the quality of food and portion sizes. Stick to drinks by the river ( maybe happy hour) and its 5 stars for the location , as soon as you pick up a menu it drops to 1 star. A great idea is to have a few drinks on the patio and enjoy the atmosphere then walk over to Greg's Grill for some great food. read more

I'm so disappointed in Anthony's. We've been numerous times over the past five years. The food is usually good and while the service tends to be on the leisurely side, it's typically friendly. Last night we had reservations for a party of 4 at 5:45. When calling to make the reservation, we explained that we had Tower Theater tickets at 7:30 and needed to leave Anthony's no later than 7:15. When we checked in for our reservation at 5:35, the restaurant was packed. We were told our table was ready , but it would be 15 minutes before they could seat us, because they had to seat the people who had walked in (without reservations) ahead of us. At 6:00 the hostess still couldn't tell us how much longer until we were seated. Knowing Anthony's on typical slow nights, we knew there was NO way we were going to be finished by 7:15, so we opted to leave. Horrible Dinner - my wife and I went to Anthony's for our wedding anniversary. We told the hostess that we wanted to sit outside and near the river walk; we said we are willing to wait for a table. We decided to sit at another table and have a drink until a table became available. The hostess never came to get us when a table became open. We ended up staying where we were, this hostess looked dazed and confused and not very accommodating. The bread was fantastic, and the lemon drops were very good. The appetizer we had - vine ripe beefsteak tomatoes was OK but the tomatoes didn't have much flavor - not like a real vine-ripe tomatoes. My wife ordered the shrimp tempura with vegetables - the shrimp and vegetables were so greasy that she had to use her napkin to soak up the oil - yuck! She hardly ate any of it - and the waitress didn't even notice. I ordered the trout which was also greasy and lacked any flavor of trout - they overcooked it. We will never go back. read more

My family decided to go to Anthony's for Father's Day. We've been before and my grandparents even receive certificates for their birthdays. Our visit was absolutely awful. Let's start with the service. We had a reservation and when we walked in I said so. The hostess pointed in the direction of where our table was, didn't walk us there, pointed. We then waited about 10 minutes without water or bread or anyone talking to us, until the manager walked over to pour us some water. During our meal we were only asked once if we wanted refills on drinks, which at $2.95 for diet coke and iced tea, I wanted more than one refill. In terms of food. The bread was delicious. Our starters and entrees, not so much. I ordered the Dungeness Crab Salad and Chowder. The chowder was so hot I may have burned the roof of my mouth. My mother had the seasonal green salad which she said was good but there were way too many hazelnuts. In terms of entrees, my brother ordered the charbroiled burger. As soon as he picked it up it fell apart. The bun was pitiful. My mother ordered the calamari which was cold. She sent it back and three minutes later it was on the table. It had been refried in french fry oil. We know this because it was very hot, almost too crispy and there was a french fry on her plate. My grandmother ordered the rockfish which she said was good. The plate just looked boring. Another faux pas was that the entrees didn't all come out at the same time. My brother and grandfather got their plates first and then 5-7 minutes later everyone else did. Proper protocol would be to bring out all the plates at the same time. My family owns several restaurants so we know the way things are supposed to be done. The restaurant was not full, we ate at 4 p.m. so there was no reason for the slow and lacking service, and cold food. Maybe our waiter was new, or bored, or would rather have been outside enjoying the sunshine. I wouldn't recommend Anthony's despite having eaten at the restaurant every time we've been to the Bend area which is several times a year. read more

We often go here for lunch. About a week or so ago we were in for lunch and the manager on duty stopped by the table and gave us a gift certificate for $20 off dinner or $10 off lunch when 2 entrees are purchased! It expires 12/13 but I still think it's a great idea to get people in again. I don't eat seafood so the menu is slightly limited for me but their creamy tomato basil soup is awesome! My daughter often asks to go there just for that. The burgers are thick with fresh toppings. The prices are a little on the higher end for dinner but for lunch an entree for most things are around $10-$14. And the view is great! We have always had good service at lunch time and are always quickly seated which is bonus! I have never been here for dinner, but maybe this certificate will make me go this week! read more

My husband and I have tried coming twice and both times we were given the limited menu because they were closing early..which is understandable, but how rude the staff was about it...too many other places to spend your money! When you close at 10, and turn people down at 9:20, TWICE, it's a wrap...and the attitudes aren't necessary..disrespectful staff. Went there for dinner. Wait time for a seat was about 20 minutes. Service was pretty good and the view is nice. The food however is average. We had steak and lobster and nothing about it was great. We were shopping in the Old Mill District and were hungry. We are on a quest to try most, if not all, restaurants in Bend. So, we headed to Anthony's. Yes, we're from Seattle and we've had really good Anthony's food. That is why this is only 3 stars. We walked in for an early lunch (some time between 11 and 11:30). We were the only people in the lobby. The hostess said she would get a table ready and would be right back. We figured it was really busy, but it was sure quiet for being busy (you can't see most of the dining room from the lobby). She never came back and it was about 10 minutes later for who I think was the manager to come to the front and ask if we had been helped. We told him we thought we had, but the woman disappeared. He said, "oh okay" and left us standing there. When we were finally seated, we walked through an almost completely empty dining room. To this day we're not sure why it took so long to seat us. We did get a nice table next to the window overlooking the river. We had a beer and the small plate with one fish taco and clam chowder. The food was good, although the tortilla for the taco was stale and hard to eat. It was a nice quick lunch. We may not be back if we can find somewhere else better in Bend for seafood, which is too bad. We have spent a lot of late nights and money at the Anthony's on the waterfront in Seattle, which is always amazing. Too bad that quality, customer service and atmosphere does not translate all the way down here in Bend. read more
