Their new "happy hour " is no where near as good as their old one. We hadn't been there for about 6 months. The wings were $1 a wing on Thursday only, which I felt was a good deal, however the bartender said that starting next Thursday that deal would no longer be available. Also got the meatball sliders and stuffed pepper each for $5. The pepper was pretty spicy. Both were ok, but nothing compared to their old offering of their giant meatballs with ricotta and bread for the same price. They had 2 flatbreads on the happy hour menu as well. Both contained toppings that neither my wife nor I were interested in. I asked if we could just have a flatbread without those toppings (essentially plain) and was told no because there was no way they could ring it up. If I wanted the plain I would need to pay full price. They also ran out of Pepsi, Pinot Grigio, and Micheliob Ultra. The happy hour bottled beers were all $5 where were also a few dollars more than previous and there was only one draft beer that qualified for that price. We brought a party of 9 people to Coal Fire in Allentown...we didn't have a reservation so had to wait a little while...there was an available high top but physical limitations of one of our party didn't allow that to be an option. Regardless the wait wasn't too bad and they ended up seating us with adults at one table, and kids at another...which was the best of all worlds. We thought the food was fantastic with great and unique pizza options for vegeatians. We shared the roasted cauliflower pizza (delicious) as well s the Square Margherita Pizza (also delicious!) I want to describe both is beautiful as well...in that way images of food can sometimes cause you to salivate with desire. That's what these pizzas were like for us. There are a few other stock vegetarian options...including the Mike's Hot Honey and Burrata which is definitely on the radar for our next visit...and, like any pizza place, you can create your own with whatever toppings you want. (Plus a few vegetarian starters and pasta dishes. Plus plus a bar with cocktails!) So I was here 16 days ago and noted that I was very disappointed that they did not have any Chardonnay. Management responded to my review and asked for a second chance to correct it. Went there on a Friday night and we just walked in. It was somewhat filling up but not overly crowded. The pizza we had was the best pizza I ever had. The hot honey pizza and regular garden salad was so well put together and the taste was that it was freshly made. Something about the setup I didn't 100% care for but it worked. Mediocre Pizza Came here for the Pizza with extended family. After all, it's an established chain pizza joint, so that is their specialty and they should good at what they're doing, right. I asked for a pizza pie to be well done with crispy bottom, just like the server described. What I got was a mushy pie, rather thick crust, the edges were not even charred... that was the give away. We've always enjoyed food at this restaurant. Caesar salad tossed in housemade dressing was awesome. Original wings with caramelized onions, served fresh and hot, were very good. First I'll say the pizza is really good. Overall the food is great. The problems come from the service. First thing when you walk in nobody greets you so you stand there like an idiot. The tables are so disgustingly sticky that we had to peel the menus off the table. The wait staff is comprised of 18 year olds girls that are loud and annoying. Always on their phones and playing around. We kept stopping our conversation because of one girl that was so loud. I get it, you get two male pizza makers and a bunch of young girls with low cut shirts and it's an episode of saved by the bell. However when I'm there on a Wednesday at 4 and nobody is there but us and another table why are the tables dirty? I'll never understand the new trend of allowing employees to have their cell phones on them and use them at all times. God forbid they can't scroll TikTok while on the clock. It's a joke. And this place is expensive. They're selling a pizza for 20 bucks and it's another 5 for toppings. But we can't wipe the table down? We can't stop grouping in a corner laughing and yelling super loud ? This is the problem when you have no management and teenagers at the helm. It's crazy. Last month my friend suggested we have lunch at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. I wasn't sure what to expect. It was absolutely delightful - a friendly, warm and welcoming place. We even had a tour of the oven and kitchen area by our outstanding and extremely attentive server, Justin. My friend and I shared s luncheon salad and we each savored individual lunch pizzas. Mine had anchovies and garlic. She enjoyed hers plain. It was nice to be able to find a spot during the week that really felt like authentic "home cooking." We weren't rushed. Update (Dec. 4, 2018) I have returned and found that Anthony's has excellent meatballs. So good, in fact, I am returning today with a friend. I generally don't like meatballs. The last time I was there, they gave customers free samples of wings and meatballs at the bar. The cauliflower pizza is very good as well. Definitely a must-try for veggie lovers. Great Pizza, the coal fired crust is amazing and has just the right thickness and char to it. The toppings are fresh and flavorful too. To be honest, I didn't know this was a chain until after I got here so this really does compete with the local coal fired places and knocks every other chain out of the water.
