The first time I tried this pizzeria I was tepid in having the cauliflower pizza. However the huge amount of garlic and the char from the 900°+ coal oven felt how bad it could be. And it was magical. Everything about it was excellent--from the carbon char on the dough to the garlic flavoured cauliflower made this such a unique pie that soon became by new favourite. I had many pies here and even the plain cheese pizza was just as delicious. I cane often for lunch and dinner alike. However, a recent lunch outing the pie was disappointing. It hardly had any char. The cheese appeared to been made with shredded and greasy cheese. While nothing wrong with a greasy slice, this is a place where that wasn't the norm. I took it as a fluke and cane back once again with a friend for supper. There we shared the cauliflower pie and it too was disappointing. It was just like that lunch pie. Though not greasy this time, but the cauliflower had no flavour. No garlic at all it seemed. The pie has no char. No taste of that burnt carbon one expects and appreciates from a hot coal oven. We did summon the manager who was more than polite and accommodating trying to make our visit the best it can be. They did offer us fresh garlic to sprinkle on the pie. But it wasn't the same. It was still very underwhelming. It is ironic they have a sign that states pizza well done. While it can have two meanings--pizza made well, and the temperature like a cheeseburger being well done. In this case the pizzas are now neither. This place has been my favourite place to enjoy pizza. Now left over cold pizza sitting on a counter in an office kitchen that came from who knows where would have been better than what you can get here. It's unfortunate that whatever has changed cost them a customer. read more

This spot just opened today so we gave it a try for lunch. The pizza was awesome! We also tried a roast beef sandwich off the lunch specials as well as the wings. Everything was very good. They appear to have a full bar that I will check out in the future. The staff was attentive and friendly. Dan Marino will apparently be there tomorrow on the 23rd for the Grand Opening. It looks like this will be one of my new favorite pizza spots!! read more

Just what I needed, yet another ACFP this one being overly convenient to my new office. It's really not enough that I eat at their Livingston location once, usually twice a week and hit up Fair Lawn ever so slightly less. In typical Anthony's fashion, the pizza and wings are spectacular. As always, the Paul & Young Ron tops the list but beware of hot peppers as they can overpower the flavor. Sweet are a much better choice. I also opted for a Side Chick, 5 wings smothered in sauteed onions with foccacia bread on the side. Whomever does the hiring for this chain is clearly on top of their game. Service is always really friendly and attentive without being too much in your face. Food arrives promptly, steaming hot and is wonderfully consistant. Beer is cold, usually local and fresh. Hit them up on Wednesday nights for Martini's & Meatballs where you can sample from a roving, hand served buffet while sipping cheap-o martinis. As has been written in numerous online reviews and newspapers, Anthony's really is the best pizza chain in the country. They're the ones to beat or to emulate. Great food for a "chain place", but what keeps me coming back are the 2 for 1 drinks at lunch that are poured by a great mixologist, I believe her name is Kerry or Terry, she kept the atmosphere fun, all others at the bar were laughing and having a great time. Keep in mind, all bar customers had food in front of them along with drinks that kept getting filled. WOW. I'll be back, wish I knew what shifts she worked! read more

Came here today for the first time & loved it, the ingredients are fresh the sauce & mushrooms tasted great The crust is well done so if u don't like that u might not like it. Came through last Saturday evening; my stepdaughter was on a playdate and my wife was out running errands, so I was left to fend for myself for a few hours. Weather was gorgeous out so they had the outdoor area open which for me, sitting at the bar, meant a nice breeze and sunlight. Ordered a Harpoon cider and a pepperoni personal pie. Everything was great, food and service, however, I think a little overpriced and they have a rather limited menu, in my opinion, although you could argue that the menu is exactly what they should be. Definitely not somewhere I would come back to by myself, however, on a date or a group, definitely would be back. read more

Gonna make this one short bc there is not much too say. Have had good experiences here and not so good. Craving pizza the other night we stopped in here. Got the wings and a house salad as an app. Wings were extremely over cooked. Salad...ehh something was different maybe they changed the lettuce? I had a sad experience for a fundraiser for a non profit preschool, which relies heavily on fundraisers. On 9/13/19, I spoke with the manager in regards to doing a fundraiser. The manager, was very unsure of what was going on. I emailed him right after I got off the phone with him, had to e mail twice before a response. while I waited I contacted someone in marketing at Corporate. She got back to me, we set a fundraiser for 10/23/19. I sent her back all the info she requested on 10/2/19. She than asked me for the school's logo, I sent to her on 10/3 but never heard a response from her. On 10/16 upon the date getting close I emailed asking if I would have to make a flyer for the event. I assumed she was providing the flyer since she asked for the logo, never heard anything back. E mailed asked again & she gave me the flyer. After handing them out, the schools name was misspelled. I emailed her once I realized the mistake,no response. I was the one apologizing in my e mail, I felt like I was bothering her, and NO response. On 10/21, I contacted The restaurant to speak to the manager. Because of all the issues, I was nervous. He assured me that the staff would know of the fundraiser, that it would be all accounted for, to not worry. On the date of the fundraiser I went for lunch. When I mentioned fundraiser not ONE staff member or manager even knew about it. In fact, there were 3 fundraisers that were for that day they didn't know about. I know for a fact of over 10 families, friends, teachers, etc , that spent $40+ on take out or dine-in. We have over 60 families in our school, not just people from School came but family and friends too. There were a ton of checks that were not accounted for. Our school got them over let's just say 50 groups of families in the restaurant, all everyone could say was what a mess the restaurant was. However, we all were so excited to raise money for our school, they all knew it would be a ton of money. From asking around, it has been estimated that well over $2,000 was accumulated for our fundraiser, most of it is NOT accounted for. On 10/30, I sent the woman in marketing, an email asking when I would get the check, no response. Not much longer I called spoke to the manager, he said it was a big mess up,how people were fired from this. He said none of the fundraisers were accounted for, how they did not know which fundraiser raised what. He told me that between the first two fundraisers he would combine them, because two of them made about $1,000 each, the third was about $200. He said he would send it to corporate & I will get the checks out in the next 3-4 weeks, when the check was ready he would call me. He said he was sorry & would make up for it by catering an event or whatnot, this never happened. I never received a phone call about when that check was ready. Because the check never was even ready or planned to get mailed to us. On 12/12 I called the corporate office, was put on the phone with the marketing girl, who I was ignored by multiple times, even though I asked to not speak with her. She told me she never received my W9, so they could not put out the check. I attached the W9 with my e mail to her on 10/2. She than found it and she that the school sold around $500 and we would get a check for $109 or $106, I knew in fact this was BEYOND incorrect. I told her what the manager said he would do her response was that she would contact him. After I hung up with her, I was livid, that this was ANOTHER mess up, I called back corporate, asked who I could speak to again,was told I would be called back by Katie, the director in Marketing. I am disgusted that I know how successful this fundraiser was for our school, but being told that I would be only receiving $100 from it, when in fact I know that its dishonest. I know our fundraiser made over $2,000 alone, families upon families, friends, all went. This is money which is being stolen from our KIDS pockets, we got customers in the door this is the backlash of what happens, when their entire team dropped the ball. I was told after that they would do us a "favor", and send us another $100 because of the mix up. I had to call back again, right before Christmas on the 12/16, even though I was told I would be contacted never was, leave a message since no one from corporate called me back about this matter, when I was told I would be called back. We got the people in the restaurant, made them a lot of money, for a fundraiser, it was horribly handled from beginning to end. Sadly because of this disheartening experience, our school will not work with you again, which is sad because your restaurant is within a 2 mile if that radius of the school. They do not support nonprofit organizations like you are advertising. I did receive a phone call from the chief director I believe, after writing an e mail and complaining, however a few weeks after playing phone tag, I never received a call back. read more

We're continuing our mission to find the best Margherita pizza in North Jersey. Recently, we tried Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza in Wayne, NJ. Normally, we stick with the independent pizza spots but the "coal fired" caught our attention. We were thinking... coal fired has to be good, right? We went with the Margherita pie and a Pepperoni pie. Up first, the Margherita. When you open the large box, we saw a very small square Margherita which is okay...this is about taste! The sauce is spread perfectly, the fresh mozzarella melted perfectly, and the touch of parmesan cheese in the sauce was a nice touch. The pie is very thin but crunchy. The basil was strange... it was used as a "garnish" where the stem and leaves were thrown onto the pie. Normally, the basil is spread but again, it was there... no big deal. The taste: just okay. Sauce is very good but the crust is what hurt this pizza. It was very bland; not very fresh. Crispy - yes. Because we've had better pies at independent locations and with the price of this pie, yes pretty expensive, you are better off trying our other reviewed locations. The Pepperoni. We wanted to see what a regular pie would taste like. Greasy. The Margherita pie was much better than this. The crust was crispy, the mozzarella was a little overcooked, the pepperoni was ... well, you're average pepperoni. Basically, this is a place you go to have a drink and a quick pie. It is a very nice establishment but I think we are going to stick with our independents from now on. Onto the next pizzeria! read more

Their employes belong to the national association of morons. Besides giving my salad away to another unfortunate sole, I was asked if they should make another one for me. Since the salad was already paid for I suggested that it would be a good idea if I received what I paid for. While waiting for my paid salad my pizza turned to stone and I my 2 front teeth became the victim of the stone cold pizza. Larry the local dentist in the woods charged me $17 for replacement teeth.... Moral of story; HIRE NEW STAFF !!! read more

Food was good enough but service not great. Took a fair amount of time before we were acknowledged. Then our table was about a foot away from patrons awaiting a table. Not real comfortable. The issue came at the end of the meal. Handed in a $10 gift card with my final bill of $35 Waitress returned with my bill for....$35 Confused, we asked if she applied the gift card. She claimed she did and said there was nothing on the card. When asking the manager, the waitress got a bit snippy and said she didn't understand our request. The manager was fine (claimed she was new) and applied the card but we've been to this restaurant twice and both times, had issues with our bill. Very strange. Not the end of the world I agree but I also wasn't in the mood to bicker over the tab. All told the food was fine, just felt unappreciated as a customer. Probably not likely to return. read more

Great service and yummy food! One of my favorite parts of this place is that it is child friendly so we can bring the kiddos. I have been to the clifton location before, this was our first time at this location. Had about a 20 minute wait on a Saturday night. Once sat we ordered the kids pizza so we could get them started as we decided what to eat. They got a large pizza with half pepperoni which was perfectly sized for 3 little ones. The adults ordered a small sized perfect to share for two, and 10 coal fired wings. These wings are what had me hooked on Anthonys. SO GOOD! For our pizza we ordered the ricotta meatball. It was good but being Italian myself these meatballs honestly tasted like frozen catered meatballs. I wasn't overly a fan but it wasn't bad. Our server was so kind to our kids and super patient all night! Overall great trip and definitely recommend! read more

Unfortunately i am rating this very low. Ordered a regular cheese pie for take-away most of the bottom was burnt black. Since i live 15 minutes away, it was upsetting to find more than 1/2 the pizza inedible when i arrived home thinking if its even worth bringing it back. The place was not busy at the time and my pizza was the only item in the oven. If I'm paying over $20 for a plain cheese pizza, in my mind, I expect something great. Maybe they should name the place "anthonys coal-like pizza" instead. Be sure to examine your food when ordering take-away. read more

You wouldn't expect to find this kind of place in a strip mall. It's a nice sit down pizza place perfect for a date or a family night out. The chicken wings are amazing with that coal fired taste and caramelized onions. There is a pizza on the menu for everyone! Where to start? We ordered meatballs, wings, and a small pie with half white , half Philly cheese-steak. The meatballs were delicious, albeit a bit expensive. The wings were absolutely atrocious, being cooked so dry that I would have been better off dipping them into my water before eating them to re-hydrate the meat. Also, putting caramelized onions on top of what is supposed to be a finger food is probably one of the dumbest things I've ever seen; almost as dumb as having no option for dipping sauce for the petrified chalky wings. The pizza was pretty bad too, having little to no ricotta on the white pie with a heavy glob of mozzarella spread around to leave you with that nice grapefruit-sized ball of cheese sitting hard in your sides when you leave. The cheese-steak was just as bad. They should close down, and rename their restaurant, Anthony's Overpriced Sauce-Free Pizza Restaurant or just decide to open up a bodega and sell meatballs. My wife wanted pizza and the place I had suggested didn't answer their phone so we tried Anthony's. Our order wasn't big it was a few pies and some wings but we were completely surprised on how delicious the pizza and wings both were. They may be known for the pizza but the Meatballs are phenomenal!!! I love to order them for take out/dinner. When they say it's a "Pot of Meatballs" that's exactly what you get--A Pot of Meatballs. I wasn't expecting the adorable stainless steel vessel filled with 12 warm saucy melt-in-your-mouth goodness. It's a clever way to present a meal instead of the usual styrofoam take out container. And nice enough to bring to a party if you're too busy to prepare something from scratch. As for the dining room, the setting is casual. This was my first time at this location. I lways order the wings because I lovr they they dont have sauce on them. However, I found the wings here to be less flavorful than at previous locations. I was slightly disappointed. Pizza was as expected. Waitress was pleasant and I appreciated the effort of staff to open the door upon entering and exiting. This location has a nice bar with garage type doors that open up so you can also sit outside. After the meal, I ordered coffee. I saw that it was $3.00. After drinking the first cup, I asked for a refill. Now I normally would not complain about the $3.00 but they charged me for a second cup. I think that is outrageous. It's not like I ordered a cappuccino or espresso. It was a plain cup of coffee!!!! Yes, it was good, but certainly not for $3.00 a cup!!! Even at Starbucks, a cup of brewed coffee is less than $3.00 and I can get refills on that. Next time will go next door to Starbucks and get coffee if I want it. read more

I'm always surprised by Anthony's, if you brought me a pie from them and didn't tell me, I'd never guess it was from a chain. I also love how in every location (that I've been to - 2 or 3) they always have a locally made beer or two on tap. You can't beat pizza and beer. Except maybe with pizza and wine, haha. That being said, I'm surprised further by their wine list featuring bottles like Tignanello (!) at a reasonable price - I was super tempted to splurge on one, but instead went with a incredibly reasonably priced Chianti. I tried their version of an eggplant parm/rollatini type appetizer, and it was fresh and delicious, at least as good as your average strip mall pizza joint, but probably better! The pizzas are very tasty as well - my favorite is the broccoli rabe & sausage one! I'm normally a fan of wood-oven pizza, but sometimes you just can't beat the extra char level you get from coal. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby. read more

As a 50 year man who grew up in North Jersey I have never seen an employee of a pizza place have such a tuff time with a two topping pizza. The next gen who got it wrong twice actually came back and blamed us. They went from two pies to a double pie (which I never heard of) before they made a pie with rabe n sausage. People if you go try and be more specific then saying two topping on a pizza cause you might end up there an hour. Oh n we were only people in the joint!!! read more
