This is an addendum to my previous review of Anthony's in Bryson City My friend and I ate there and became violently ill. I called I told them what had happened the next day and they argued with me over the phone that it could never happen. But three out of four people have talked since says they've all gotten sick there one 2 years ago. I wasn't feeling well enough to go out on Sunday and when I went on Monday, they were closed on Monday and Tuesday. They put a note on my refund that I never showed up. So I went back today on a Wednesday and I was met with scowls and just the rudest response to them poisoning me and my friend with their food My friend is 71 years old and he just had a valve replaced if he had gotten as sick as I could it could've put him in the hospital. no apology no is there anything that we can do to make it up? No it was scowls and hostility and just rudeness. Horrible customer service. read more

I should just live in a more southern state. Every time I go, the people are nicer. It's so laid back. With that being said...go to this place, sit outside and order some pizza pies. Plenty of drink choices. Nice deck & scenery. Try to come with an appetite because the pizza is HUGE. read more

My family and I came here after the polar express. The place was packed and there was about a 45 minute wait. However, I'm only giving 3 stars because the food was just ok at best. We came here on a weekend during a pandemic and the restaurant took very good precautions. The outside seating was comfortable and spaced out nicely. The food came out fresh and hot and the prices were reasonable. The server was friendly and attentive. read more

We decided to stop by after seeing two patrons drinking nicely dressed Bloody Mary's. And boyyy, were we glad! Not only were the drinks dressed nicely but thy turned out to be simply delicious. So we added the crab fingers and the spinach artichoke dip to our order. Anthony's did not disappoint. The crab fingers were fried perfectly and had a slight kick of spice. The spinach artichoke dip was freshly homemade, and it was served with light, flaky pita points. Of course, it was topped with Parmesan flakes. Everything as so good. If you decide to go here, choose outside dining and stick to pizzas. We didn't know, so we ordered off the menu and the food was inedible. We sat inside and there was a strong detergent smell oozing off the wall. Our waitress was nice and apologetic about the mishap with the food. My husband ordered spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were raw on the inside and the spaghetti was soggy and overcooked. The sauce looked like someone opened a can of tomato sauce and poured it over the spaghetti. I ordered the spinach manicotti and the cheese tasted like plastic and the spinach was like paper. The pasta was soggy. Just a disaster. They did refund us for our dinners but my daughter didn't eat hers either. All in all it was not a good dining experience. However a lot of people seemed very happy with their pizzas! read more

Staff was Awesome! Lauren was our server and she is fantastic!!! She was attentive and friendly! She gets an A+. Food was good, we had 6 in our group and order Calzone, fettuccine, chicken Parm, and the pepperoni Pizza was GREAT! we had outdoor seating and my Pup was welcomed! We stopped here before we boarded the train for the polar express. The pizza was delicious. The appetizer... sampler not so much. Most of the food was still cold in the middle and definitely wasn't worth the $13.99. Out waitress was super friendly. I would stop back for pizza and drinks only. We came here with a party of 7. Our server, Terra was amazing. We had a few special orders but she was awesome. She was professional, kind and attentive. The food was great, the takeout packaging was grotesque. We ordered the lobster gocce and a starter sampler. The food was very tasty! Neither of us had eaten gocce before and it was something worth trying! The starter sampler was about as good as you'd expect mozzarella sticks and the like to be! The packaging made a terrible first impression. It's cardboard. Can you imagine being served pasta and Alfredo sauce in a cardboard takeout box? The only barrier that existed was the paper they put inside wing baskets at a chicken joint. I guess this is some attempt to be "green", despite the fact that paper with oil soaked into isn't recyclable. Go for something reusable, if anything. We'd eat there again, just not takeout. read more

Cute location location overlooking the train. Great service and good selection of beers. The food is pretty good. My friend got a salad that tasted fresh and I got a calzone that was the size of my arm! I liked that you could pick your own toppings and sub out the ricotta. The goat cheese app was good but not great, I'd probably skip it, but everything else I'd order again. read more

Incredibly slow service. No complaints on the food once it came. It took over an hour to get our food and when the bill came, it was not itemized. It was posted that gratuity would be included on large parties. We were a party of 9. Since the bill wasn't itemized, we had no idea what we were paying for or if gratuity had indeed been included. No doubt the server is frequently on defense with the slow service. So we tipped anyway despite possibly double tipping on terrible service. But we have no reason to return. read more

So we stopped off here for a quick lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The pizza was delicious and they were kind enough to brew a new pot of coffee which was good as well. Been visiting from the west coast so haven't quite caught up yet with the sleep! The server was nice and the experience was good. They have a great outdoor patio which was dog friendly. In addition, the aesthetics of the place are fun to look at. They literally have a tree trunk inside which is next to some tables where you could probably share some gossip! Haha. We would definitely come back here if we were in the area and would recommend this to others. read more

Experience started out ok..... everyone was in masks, waitress greeted us quickly, and we ordered right away. 45 min later we got the majority of our order, minus an order of wings. 10 min later, no one was sure what happened and the wrong flavor wings were delivered. Waitress barely apologized... manager never showed up, but her boyfriend said they were having a rough day at the restaurant. All this being said, food was nothing to write home about, they gave us some cheese cake for the hassle. We won't be back. read more

Had trouble getting seated... something about the person seating people having some issue with giving tables for four to parties less than four... Kind of made it seem like a big deal by telling us several times we could be seated right away if we wanted to sit outside or at the bar. Not sure what the deal with that is, but it was slightly annoying--not that we had to wait, but that they kept pushing for us to take seating elsewhere and made it seem like we were making things hard on them by making waaaaay too many comments about it. Once seated the service was outstanding, and the food was surprisingly decent. The servers were literally running around the place. Now, this isn't fine dining, and please understand that the four-stars is in the context of a tourist-restaurant in the middle of nowhere. We expected to get really bad frozen food (which is the norm in these kinds of places) but were surprised that the food was pretty decent. The fried calamari was surprisingly good--not freezer-burned or over cooked at all. The salads were fresh and didn't have any gross slimy lettuce pieces. The pasta sauce appeared to be made from ingredients, versus straight from a jar/can. The beer was cold and they had a good variety. Most places like this mail it in, take your money, and serve bad food, but I would actually go to this place if it was in town, and not one of the few places to eat in Bryson City. So... aside from the weird issue with getting seated, this place was really good. Give it a shot. read more

Excellent place to eat and relax on the porch! Miss Chrystal was completely attentive to our table. Beer came out fast and the salads did too. The spaghetti was quick to follow! We had a great time! Family & pet friendly, great view of the smokies from the front porch. I had Stromboli, which I loved! Hubby had the kitchen sink burger, friend ordered pizza. Literally the slowest service. Waited 40 minutes for a table and then over an hour for pizza.

The food was excellent. We had a combination of pizza, manicotti, and lasagna. All the dishes were good. The service has been much improved since a previous visit. Our family had actually stopped coming to this restaurant because the service had been so bad a couple of times. But it seems that they have made adjustments and things went very smoothly. read more

UNFORGETTABLE - for all the wrong reasons. We have visited Bryson City for the Polar Express the last 4 years and every year we have eaten at Anthony's. The Pizza has always been good and the Eggplant Rolatini that they served a few years ago was amazing. This year takes the cake. I'm not sure if they changed management or owners or what. We arrived 2 hours before our train was scheduled to depart. When we arrived there was one other table in the dining room who were preparing to leave. It took 10 mins for our waitress to acknowledge us and we didn't receive any food for over an hour. In that time the restaurant filled up and two of the tables that came in after us were served and were leaving before we got our food and every table in the room had food except us. We ordered nothing fancy, just burgers, wings and pizza. But still an hour passed with nothing. We called the "manager" over to find out what was going on. When we asked if she was the manager she replied "Yeah, and it's supposed to be my day off"...She wasn't polite or joking, she was irritated. We asked about our food and at that time our waitress appeared with appetizers. The "manager" replied Oh here it is and zoomed off. Only one of the orders that came out was right, the other two had to be sent back. Then more of the food came, it was wrong as well. It also had to be send back. When she returned the order was wrong yet again. Then she came back to tell us that it would now be an hour before the pizza was ready. Excuse me? Two families arrived after us, ordered (pizza as well) ate, and left and we have not gotten our food and have to wait longer?? We had to talk to the "manager" again and then a third time for issues with the food not being correct and the wait for the pizza for my son. Her excuse was that the kitchen was really backed up, she would check on it. Not ONCE did the manager offer an apology, only excuses. We finally got the pizza and the food we ordered and left the restaurant determined to not let it ruin the night, 10 mins before our train departed. We will not be returning here to eat again. It was the worst dining experience of my life and I am truly not that picky of a person. I understand things happen, I understand everyone has a bad day every now and then and I understand it was a busy day for them. But the experience was beyond horrible and I didn't feel appreciated for being a customer. read more

My family and I stumbled upon this place on vacation. This food is phenomenal and the staff was great! If you want large portions and great atmosphere this is it! I would love to come back here sometime if we vacation the smoky mountains again! If you're in the area most definitely stop here because you will not be disappointed! Great service and a great meal. Had a small house salad and Margarita pizza. The salad was cold and fresh with crisp Romaine, red onion, cucumbers, cheese, croutons, and a delicious blue cheese dressing. Cool restaurant right by the train, nice little vibe. The server took entirely too long to come to us. We were actually on the verge of leaving as he approached. He apologized & explained to us that it was only his second day & he was tied up on the patio. All is forgiven. Honestly when situations like this happens, and you are doing your best, it speaks more of your team mates that are unwilling to assist you. I can say this because we were passed by multiple servers as we were waiting for ours & no one gave a second glance. The server ended up being awesome. We were glad we stuck around.
