Ate at Anthony's four times in the same week since I was located for training nearby. The outdoor bar area was my favorite spot, as it is open air, but with a roof and partial walls. Lots of huge TVs to watch the game. The food was well made, good sized, and unique. Lots of the typical bar food items, but also some greek, asian, and Mexican. My favorite was the cobb salad, with lots of chicken, avocado, bacon and cheese. They have daily drink and food specials, lots of quality for a reasonable price. The service was excellent. Bartenders and wait staff are attentive, friendly, and working hard. read more

I was here last night for my first time and I have to say that I will be back very soon! The restaurant is very spacious and this is a great place to catch any sporting event because there are plenty of TVs all throughout. I sat in the back area and I can imagine how nice it is in the summer because you have the option of sitting outside or inside the patio with the garage door Windows that go up. I loved the high ceiling with the skylight too. My boy friend and I were greeted immediately and we were told the specials. I was very happy with my cocktail choice and stuck to it the remainder of the night. I had a baileys, vodka drink that was deliciously strong. My boyfriend had beer, whiskey and a red ginger beer cocktail that he enjoyed very much. We tried the wings, flatbread, meatballs, Mac and cheese bites, crab cakes and the chopped salad. Everything was delicious! Nothing disappointed us and I was in love with the salad. Omg that salad was delicious!!! I will be back very soon to stuff my face again. Discriminatory against middle aged hispanics. Being employed in corporate sports marketing I work hard 9-5 in business suits. Tonight I was comfortable in my Adidas wear. My dining party consisted of myself and my younger 20 something cousins and their husbands. Unfortunately we were stopped at the door. I explained I was not a threat and only there to have few cocktails and enjoy the Hawks game and UFC fight, however I was still turned away. STAY AWAY this establishment is less than accommodating and friendly. Local news shows shooting occurred and yet they mistaken themselves for high end establishment. Not family friendly. This was my first time since they expanded the outside. It was nice. It felt like u was in naperville or Chicago. They had a guy singing and playing the guitar. The food was great. The service was great. The only downer was we were by a street. Too bad we couldn't be by a river or something nice to look at. Stopped in today after seeing their specials online and at the urging of a facebook friend. OMG...I'm sad I didn't know about this place sooner. Our server, Jennifer, was great. Explained the specials to us, and was attentive without being a nuisance. My sister and I each ordered their $5 burger and $.50 wings to share. The burgers were huge and came with fries, we each only finished half of our burgers, and still had wings to take home. We were also able to take advantage of their $.50 wings to take home and feed our families. No cooking for us today! I ordered 30 of the flats, and my sister ordered 30 drumettes. It worked out perfectly, and they were super accommodating. I wish I could have taken advantage of their $4 margaritas, but it was lunch time, and drunk mommy is not something I want my kids to come home to. lol! I've found Anthony to be a place that I can go in the evening or late evening to enjoy the varied sounds of music, enjoy-enjoyed the food, at times I'd like to sit at table with friends, but coming alone I'll eat at the bar. I had to update my review about this place. This is my second time coming here and it was disturbing to witness the unjust racial profiling done here. This place is swarmed by security who dictate rules contingent upon who is in front of them. The manager, Perry made two African American young men remove their caps to retain them stating that there are no caps after 10pm. I was extremely confused as I am wearing a cap, my boyfriend is wearing a cap, along with about 10% of the paying customers inside of Anthony's. Security then preceded to let several Caucasian men enter all wearing gaps after 11pm. I'm appalled at such blatant racism. I will vocalize this experience and never come here again. read more

Me and my boyfriend went to Anthony's last night 3/4/19 at about 10:30. We go to Anthony's regularly for either a night out or just to grab some pizza. We sat at the inside bar and asked for soft drinks. (Now any good bartender would assume someone sitting at a bar who's asking for soft drinks is more than likely there to order food. I have been a bartender for 8 years and my boyfriend is the GM at a restaurant and pub, this should be common sense to anyone in the service industry. We sat at the bar waiting for menus, they never came. We yelled over to the bartender and asked if food was still being served: her response was breif, "no". Now their my bf of myself had even taken a sip out of our sodas, and we were charged $5 for them. At the end of the day, we would have never ordered those sodas had we known the kitchen closed early. In my opinion it was the tackiest thing on the planet and horrible customer service. After going there regularly; I can't say we will be back anytime soon feeling completely taken advantage of. Not to mention: no tab or receipt was given. Me and my bf are pretty positive the bartender "charged" us for our undranken sodas but really pocketed the cash for herself. Classy. First time there, and were very disappointed. We ordered pretzels for appetizer, and never got them. My husband ordered mostaccoli with meatballs, never got the meatballs. The service was good but the owner, the cooks, the person doing the dishes the girls rolling up the silverware to give to their customers, the hostesses and ALL of the bartenders were NOT wearing masks. None of them were. Nor were customers enforced to wear masks. Everyone coming in and going out and going to the bathroom were not wearing them and they weren't even told to put one on , in fact they shook the owners hands I felt pretty uncomfortable and decided to take my food to go and throw it out since the cooks weren't wearing masks, the reason I didn't tell anyone or a manager is bc he wasn't wearing one himself . I'm sure the girls that were rolling up the silverware didn't even wash their hands because they served a table and went right back to rolling the silverware. Our waitress had her mask under her chin lol. I know I put myself at risk going out myself but come on at least pretend that there is some type of protocol or the owners to care enough for their own employees and customers. I first learned of Anthony's via Yelp - we visited for a Yelp Elite Event in the Fall. The event was fantastic, one of the best I'd been to! Loads of food, several drinks per person, and the service was amazing! Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We were so impressed, that we visited again (literally five days later) to watch a Bears game. While the food was pretty good, we had an appetizer that was literally forgotten, and a drink, as well. We ended up receiving it, but it took quite a while. For the record - the mac and cheese bites are super delicious. The bar area (in the back) is an amazing place for parties - specifically in the summer. The bar is round and in the middle of the room, and there are garage doors that open to a patio. When I was here for the Yelp event, I already had my summer event in mind, and decided to connect with the owner on details. I'm not sure if I was speaking with the owner or a manager (as his name wasn't Anthony), but it was quite the debacle to get a hold of this person. I followed-up over email at least three times, and it took several missed phone calls and voicemails to finally connect. Until I sent an email and said we'd look elsewhere, I didn't receive much of a response. So finally, a month after trying to connect, I spoke with the contact, and though he seemed very helpful, I was floored by the prices. The prices I was provided with were on par with hosting a shower at a nice Italian restaurant (and I know this, because I was planning one of those, as well) - and this of course, was for fried finger food, and a buffet no less - not some plated meal. On top of that, it was required that I put down a deposit and commitment in January for a July event. We spoke in December, and he said he'd follow-up with me in January. It's the last day of March, and I still haven't received a call. That's just fine - I've already booked a much better venue - but I couldn't believe the high prices and lack of follow-up. Perhaps Anthony's is swimming in business and didn't need mine. The food is good, but not enough for me to come back. read more

The best tasting thing on the menu was the fries!! This was our first visit to Anthony's and was really looking forward to it. I mean, when you look at the amount of work and $$$ that was put into a beautiful restaurant, you'd think hiring a great chef would be top priority. Our waitress was in training, but she was still attentive and had a great attitude. We ordered the chorizo spring roll appetizers, which tasted like store bought egg rolls with spice in it. My husband had the "Juicy Lucy", which was not juicy at all, had absolutely no flavor, and something tasted burned. My fish and chips, looked and tasted like frozen fish sticks. No flavor, overcooked, and the coleslaw was terrible. This place has sooooooo much potential and I may give them another shot in a year or so (if they make it that long).. I hope that gives them enough time to find a new chef and fix that menu!!!! read more

Now THIS is what I call a sports bar! I had a few drinks at the bar before an elite event. The main bar is HUGE and gorgeous. I could definitely see myself getting my happy hour on here. Their beer menu is decent and their bar food, amazing. The wings and mac & cheese bites are enough to make me want to come here every day! Too bad I don't live in the area. They have a covered patio and an open patio featuring garage doors which open to the another bar in the back. WHOA! Summer please come back sooner!! This place is awesome! I had lunch in the early afternoon on a Friday, and it was dead, so I had my doubts. The restaurant is huge, there are three distinct sections: the inside, the covered patio, and the open patio. I sat in the covered patio area, which had two massive overhead garage doors open, which let the sun pour in. It was unseasonably warm, but as the breeze rolled through, the bartender said it well, "it feels like a resort in here!" Indeed it did! There were 2-3 other people around the indoor patio area, all looking relaxed as if they were really at a seaside resort. There's nothing else nautical about the place, it's definitely a sports bar - TVs everywhere. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to watch a game. There is a ton of seating, and it appeared there was no bad seat in the house. As I ate, I didn't even know which TV to look at! The beer menu isn't a novel, which was welcome. These endless beer menus at places are starting to annoy me. There were maybe 8-10 beers on draft, all typical and respectable brands including some local craft breweries, and less than 20 bottled varieties including seasonal ales. I had an Illusive Traveler grapefruit ale, perfect for this summerlike day. The food menu is extensive. I'd recommend checking it out online first. I knew I wanted the Greco, a flatbread with gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, feta cheese, and tomatoes. It was so good. The flatbread had the texture of a pita, but still crispy to hold up to the juicy tomatoes and the sauce and cheese that was loaded on. I was also tempted by the burgers and sandwiches, but this flatbread cannot be passed up! My lunch was topped off by the soundtrack at Anthony's. It was basically "The Best of Angela P's childhood," which included A-Ha's "Take On Me," and Phil Collins' "Sussudio," which played over and over in my head all weekend. I think this place used to be one of those bars that are wannabe clubs frequented by guys who think they are cool because they drive tricked out Honda Civics and like tanning beds a lot. I don't know, that's the vibe I got from the old place. Not sure what kind of crowd hangs out at Anthony's at night, but it's a respectable place during the day with GREAT food. read more

I think Anthony's is the nicest place in Joliet / Plainfield. It's a huge transformation from the previous Sammy's concept. When you walk through the door, you will not recognize a thing. Extra star for the effort here. We at in the dining room. I like the menu. I ate the salmon salad and really enjoyed it. It's a good place for large groups b/c it's large enough were you can have some privacy or belly up to the bar. I guess it's upscale casual. I'm also glad that it's not a franchise. Never again. In town for work and decided to give Anthony's a try after reading decent reviews. Never again. Walked in and sat at the bar and with a mostly empty restaurant around 8pm. Tall male bartender was rude right off the bat and made it seem like I was a burden just asking for a beer. Beer came and 10 minutes later beer was finished, waited another 10 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged the beer was empty and I decided enough was enough. I was planning to enjoy a nice meal and get a togo pizza after a handful of beers, however none of that went down. I got the check and rolled out. Never again. Note to management...get rid of the dude behind the bar with the US soccer hat. You missed out on an easy $80 in sales tonight. Sad. read more

Great place. Yeah they had some history but I'm a frequent and there's never any issues since. Plus all the bouncers are like 6'7 300 pound gorillas straight from the NFL or something so if you ever find yourself about to get your face beat in you're very protected. Went there today around 2:00 and asked to sit outside. The person who greeted us handed us the high chair we needed (and had to carry throughout the restaurant) and told us to find a seat. No menus, nothing. The whole place was empty, with only one table and two girls at the outside bar. We sat for 15 minutes outside while we watched the outdoor bartender take multiple shots with her two customers / friends. 3 staff members watched us walk out with no acknowledgement. My wife and I stopped in for dinner this evening. The restaurant is very appealing to the eye, very comfortable and the wait staff was very courteous and friendly. It was clean and very presentable. That's about where my appeal for Anthony's stops I ordered crab cakes for an appetizer that were " okay" at best; nothing to write home about. My entrée was the Baja fish tacos. These tacos were supposed to be a signature item for this restaurant. However they tasted like dirt. I cannot explain how or where this taste was coming from. It tasted like very cheep catfish - catfish that was old and not farm raised. The corn tortilla shells literally fell apart while I was trying to eat them. The meal included three fish tacos however I was only able to eat one and a half. I couldn't bear to eat any more. My wife had a hamburger she enjoyed. It was cooked to perfection it was served on a pretzel roll along with some very large onion rings. Overall she was pleased with her meal. Anthony's has a relatively good craft beer selection so I suppose it would be a nice place to stop for a cold beer on a hot summer day. But for dinner, I would find another restaurant. read more

I went there with my wife and our 4 kids. We are always in the hunt for a good neighborhood family restaurant. This place just opened and we decided to give it a try. I am glad that we did, this place was great. It was clean, the silverware was so clean we could see our reflections. Granted this place only opened 2 weeks ago so it might not stay that way, that said Iam going to be optmistic here and say it is going to continue this way. The service was really good, the manager came out to check on our food and see if eveything was okay. We really loved the fact that the kids menu was real food and not just frozen food reheated up. The cheese pizza my son ordered look just like the margarita flatbread. The food was real good. We ordered the pretzel sticks and chicken wings, both were real good. We also ordered the chiptole salmon salad. I was worried because I am really not a chiptole fan but the salad had none of that in it. But it was filled with spinach, grilled BBQ Salmon, Creamy Avacadoes, black beans.... it was great. We didn't get any dessert but looking over on the other tables it looked good. The atmosphere is nice, and I can kind of see what they're trying to do, but the food is sorely lacking. My husband and I came here on valentine's night because it was the only place without a wait. We got calamari, Juicy Lucy burger, and Chicken Pasta. The calamari was devoid of flavor and literally crumbled to bits when we tried to eat it. The burger and pasta were OK, but still lacking in seasoning. The portions on the entrees were pretty good which helped. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I wish I could give this place no stars for the treatment we received from their manager. A group of my friends and I went today, Sunday, for the half-off warm ups. Nowhere on the menu, front chalkboard, or paper menus that were given to us, specified that the shrimp basket and calamari we ordered were excluded from the Sunday special. We politely asked our waitress to check if a mistake was made and she did. When she came back, she said, "My boss said that it says on the menu that those two menu items are not included in the special." When we showed her the menus, she realized there wasn't a specification so she went back to grab the manager. The manager came to us saying that those two items were not discounted. When we asked where we could find that information. He rudely responded with ," Well, I am telling you now." We said that that was unfortunate, especially since we had already ordered and he replied by saying, "Well, the waitress was supposed to tell you. So, if you want it half off, you can have her pay for it." Then he left before we could even respond to him. It was an incredible performance from the manager. The waitress apologized and reduced the price for us, so we paid our bill and gave her 120% tip, of which would have gone to the owner instead of her if we paid full price. Will most definitely not be coming again for mediocre bar food and little man syndrome from the manager. read more

Come here once or twice a month. Love there prime rib. Always tender and great flavor. Best in the area. The bread is warm and the butter is addictive. If you ask they will keep bringing bread out. They do not take reservations but you can do call ahead seating. If you call about a half an hour before you go there is normally only a slight wait. The place is busy on Friday and Saturday nights so make sure you call ahead. The only complaint I would have is the music is a little loud and sometimes hard to have a conservation. Went to Anthony's last night and tried our some of their food and drinks. I had their chicken wings, chicken tenders, meatballs, chopped salad, crab cakes, flatbread, and fried mac n cheese bites. Everything was very delicious and would love to come back to try out the fried calamari. My 2 favorites are the chopped salad and fried mac n cheese bites. I was not expecting the fried mac n cheese bites to be big portions, but I love mac n cheese esp fried. The atmosphere is really nice here. The indoor area was very spacious and has tv's everywhere to catch any game. The backroom was my favorite part because it was all windows. I believe in the summer time they open up the windows which would be cool to see. The service is very friendly and they know their menu very well. I was also informed by the bartender that they make their juices fresh that they put in their cocktails. Not too many bars go above and beyond like that. I would def. come back. read more

Wow! Came here with some friends for drinks and snacks after a movie on Christmas Eve while in town visiting family. We're from Milwaukee and our friends are from LA. We actually found the restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I was particularly impressed that they had my fav everyday single malt. We ordered a flat bread (pesto), mezzo trio (amazing feta tomato dip!), grilled cheese like I've never had... Triple decker! And a great queso fundido. The service was a little green but we just found out they've only been open for a week so I'll give them that. Everyone was friendly and accommodating and we will be back! Tip for the ladies... Wish I could have been warned before I spent money here. I went for dinner and to watch the Deontay Wilder fight. Ordered a glass of water and the Anthony's Alfredo. Food was horrible, at least I think so because I didn't get it all. Never got my soup or the side salad I ordered. Told the bartender, who said "give me a second" and then went to help other customers. I walked away to bathroom and came back to two guys hovering over my plate. I asked them, "Can I get back in there to my food, guys?" And they ignored me and acted like they wanted to fight. I eventually just pulled my chair back up and forced them to walk away. There are 300 bouncers and 1 cop in this place. When I walked back in from smoking I was told to put my cigar away... What? Who does that? After 2 security guards came over to check my cigar. (one almost grabbed MY CIGAR, that my mouth goes on...I pulled away) On top of food being gross, not getting all of the food I paid for, and having to deal with meat heads who are just here to start fights, You have to ask to leave. Thats right. If you want to walk out of the front doors to smoke, you have to ask the manager. First and last time I go here. I don't need a babysitter. Im cancelling my cc payment to them as well. I didn't receive all of my food and I didn't eat most of it because of the ppl who will literally come and stand over your food at the bar and refuse to let you back in. GO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more
