I was shocked to see such a low rating here, until I read the reviewer's gripes. TOO MUCH chicken on my Chicken Ceasar Salad. TOO MUCH Roast Beef on my Roast Beef Sandwich. Ok, if you're a delicate eater, this is probably not your spot (although there are lighter options). I consider myself a take-out connoisseur, collecting menus and trying out new places as a hobby. Anthony's has the best take-out in Reading (and probably Stoneham/Woburn). They have great deals: -every day $6.99 large "Sweet" Pizza, the sauce a tad slighter than normal. Delicious and a bargain. - Mon-Wed, half off all pasta dishes (get a generous portion of chicken parm over penne with garlic bread for about $4! - Tuesday night "Beat the clock" night on pizzas (pay the amount of what time you called (4:50 call-in = $4.50 pizza). There other food is terrific as well, I've never had a bad meal there. In addition to the items above, I'll vouch for: - Chicken kebob salad (Big enough for 2 people to split) - Buffalo chicken wrap - Roast beef sandwiches (I get with lettuce, tomato, mayo, extra sauce) - Various calzones (italian, buffalo, chick kebob) - Grilled chicken teriyaki stir fry sub - Teriyaki wings - Primavera pizza (with a ranch sauce) As you can see, they have a very extensive menu that can fit most people's taste. The food was okay but the service was terrible. The staff didn't know the menu so when my husband got his food it was nothing like what he was told. They completely forgot about my order. We waited almost 30 minutes for my husband's food. My husband finished his meal and we waited another 10. We finally asked fo mine to go and they looked surprised. Then they threw it together as fast as they could and I ate in the car. Usually when my husband and I go out for food it is to eat our meal together but maybe that's just us. And maybe I should have reminded them that I was sitting there waiting because I ordered food but I have never had to do that because I have never had a restaurant forget. I have been going to Anthony's Roast Beef since it was "Londi's". Anthony's has always been consistent. I can count on the Roast Beef sandwiches, Buffalo Finger Calzone, Spinach Feta, Salads, and Steak Tips. These items are always delicious and reasonably priced. I always expect a full stomach by the end of my visit. I have been happy with the customer service. The people there have been friendly and welcoming, even one I was a young guy in high school. read more

I go here EVERY TUESDAY for take out. They are super nice even when I call on the late side and come in right before closing! I kind of have a picky order but they have no problems making the pizza just how I like it without any complaints. I love their sweet pizza! It's really good! The place is overall clean and a friendly environment. They usually have a few highschool kids working there. Just ordered and picked up a salad and roast beef sandwich for lunch all the lettuce in the salad was turning brown. The roast beef on the sandwich was dried out and gray. Anthonys has always been my family's favorite restaurant to grab a pizza ever since they opened up here in Reading. My boyfriend and I also love to come in usually at least once a week to grab a "sweet pizza." Their sweet pizza is so tasty and it's only 7 dollars for a large! I love their other deals, such as the 1/2 price pasta deals. Their steak and cheese subs and buffalo chicken finger subs are also some of our favorites!! I highly recommend Anthony's to my relatives from other states or my college friends when they come to visit and they always love it. Roast Beef is good but the Pizza is the worst I have ever had! Alfredo sauce was awful and the eggplant some of the greesiest ever. They should stick with Roast Beef only. Also 2 times they have gotten our order wrong. Bait and switch pricing and the owner dirtbag never called me back. Spoke with a shift manager and they said this has been going on for a long time. Food was fair at best. I watched them bring it to the counter; a person put cheese on it and then looked at my order. She saw her mistake. Instead of remaking it she walked around the corner and put more tomato sauce on it to cover the cheese. When I called her on it all she did was give a shrug of the shoulders and a half hearted apology. As far as she was concerned she did nothing wrong. My first and last visit, I assure you - a bad experience in almost every way. We wanted something quick, so we picked up a steak & cheese grinder and pastrami sandwich at Anthony's Reading location as it was close by and easy to find. First, compared to their online menu the prices in the store were nearly $1.00 more for every item across the board - not sure why, unless I'm paying for self-delivery ;-) The steak & cheese had steak so dry that each bite needed to be washed down, while the hot pastrami was nothing more than cold (seemingly processed) pastrami heated up in the oven. And not having rye bread for pastrami? Please! Afterwards, the meal sat like a lead weight in each of our stomachs. On the plus side (?), their rolls were fresh, and their portion sizes were ample for the money (although, lots of bad food is worse than just enough bad food). Maybe I just got the last batch of their food, or they left it in the oven too long, or stopped by while they were too busy.
