I'd heard about these sandwiches from Antidote for years but always hesitated ordering because quite honestly it's a deli inside a liquor store in Reseda and it doesn't exactly look like the kinda place where you are going to get great food. They lag on delivery, they charge more than thenregular menu prices when ordered delivery, the food quality is too good to have such bad service. Convenient yes but inconvenient for sure. This is more then just sandwiches, it is a reminder of a neighborhood institution of a convenience store. Not just snacks n smokes. Tin foil, toilet paper, sour cream, cat litter, and almost anything that I forgot to get, or just ran out of is there. They also sell most liquor. The employees say hi to me when I walk in, and have never judged me for my purchases. I walked in 15 minuets after the place closed, and the owner let me buy my smokes. The sandwiches have a homemade feel. The lady that runs that part of the store is a boss. Always clean, and smells like seasoned meats. The sandwiches themselves are always fresh, and packed with meats and love. I always look for that ingredient. This is my neighborhood liquor store, but it's also so much more. They've got a deli in back that makes really good sandwiches, and there's seating besides! It's a restaurant/deli/liquor store. The dude who owns it is really cool, and the people that work there are a testament to that. Now it's simply a grill in the back of a liquor store. People come to get a decent sandwich cheap. I had a 2 dollar coupon so I got a 4.99 "Mom's egg Salad" sub for $2.99. And it can't be beat. A full foot long French roll. creamy egg salad, lettuce tomato, onions, peppers a little on the messy side, but at least it wasn't skimpy. It really was an AWESOME FRICKEN SUB. There are about 15-20 subs to choose from, along with burgers, lattes and a full liquor stores inventory worth of beverage options. The seating area is a bit of a dive with mismatched tables and an exposed hot water heater, but as I said, it's about the food, not the decor. And for $2.99 an order morel; they deliver--not just off the menu but all the liquor store items too. So, as usual, I decided to yelp it- and I found Antidote! Easy website, with the menu and prices posted. I call and am immediately greeted by a pleasant, patient man who answers my questions and doesn't get at all snippy with me, even though I completely rearrange their flagship sandwich, the avocado club, and need the intimate details regarding which kinds of salt and vinegar chips they carry. I did have to pay a $3 delivery fee, but my order may have been under a certain minimum for delivery. Plus I used a card - and they let you tip on the card, which is really convenient. Ok, so I was at work today and unfortunately I can't leave my work site. I placed an order to have my food delivered using the Eat24 app and approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes of wait I still did not have my food delivered. I called the restaurant and they said they were busy and my food had left the store for delivery about 15 minutes ago. In other words, "I never got to eat"! I called the restaurant and cancelled my order since my shift was over and I was going home. They've been with me a long time. I luv their service and their subs. There was recently a misunderstanding which wasn't my fault. I tried to reconcile and am unsure of mgr reply. He's been such a nice guy before so I'm not sure of reply. Update- just spoke to his employee who put me in tears. I'm an SSDI recipient and can't get out much. Mgr blamed me for himself and his employee. But she said even tho I've been a loyal, good tip customer for the better part of 10 yrs, that he has alot bigger customer ( group) for more than 10 yrs and that I don't matter, and that mgr should be left to recover for a day at least. I'm the victim. She said he doesn't need a reason. I didn't do anything wrong, it's him. I'm not calling back. He should call me back as he is to blame along with his bad choice in some employee. Delivered faster than they said they would 2. Everything was packed and wrapped amazingly. For example, I ordered a pound of Ham so the Ham was wrapped in two half pound portions then again together with paper, then put in a larger bag. 3. Prices were so good that I even did some side shopping However, the reason the average rating went down to 3 is because the produce I ordered was not very fresh. The large side dish of coleslaw was not that large and smelled so bad that I threw it out. The Ham only lasted for 3 days before it got shiny. The baguette was 2/3 the size of a regular baguette.
