Love urbane. A classic local spot to grab a good healthy bite. The service is great , shoutout to mike and gil. I ordered the ahi salad which was delicious but I didn't ask for no cilantro (I hate cilantro) but none the less its a lovely spot with nice ambience. I think the prices are fair for the good food you get. The passion iced tea is my favorite!

I used to love Urbane Cafe. I don't know what happened in the quality / prep of their food since then, but I ordered a sandwich and something sharp scratched the side of my mouth. I was shocked to see a piece of metal that I spit out. As much as I used to love Urbane, I will not be returning back here.

Quick update as my last review was 3 years ago. Since my last review, the interior of the restaurant has slightly changed, different chairs and different wall art. Everything was modern and clean. I ordered a Tofu Bahn Mi to go. It was prepared and packaged quickly and delicious as usual. Service was good.

Came in for lunch and it was empty. Ordered quickly but my order took quite a while. Food was still good!

Stopped by for a quick bite and had a Chimichurri Steak tri tip steak sandwich. It was nice out so we ate in the outdoor patio. Very nice and clean. Staff was very nice. The Chimichurri is pretty good. Flavor is a little more subtle than the pastrami (my go to) but in a good way. And it goes well with the salad. A sweet and savory combo. Thank you!

Nutrient dense is not a bad thing! When I'm going for a healthier dining option- I'll stop by here. Easy parking, order ahead, pick up or eat in - all super convenient, flavorful and good for you! I go for the Salmon Bowl ($13.95) which is 745 calories and has: glazed salmon, mixed whole grain rice, marinated kale, edamame, lemon wedge and a sweet aioli drizzle atop the fish. Virtuous and yummy. They'll give you a piece if their famous focaccia bread too...(unless you say, "No"). Other favorites include the Mediterranean Bowl (675 calories), the Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl (540 calories), the Power Veggie Salad (305 cal) & the Keto Cobb (280 cal). Comfy, wood-toned decor, friendly employees and a clean restroom! What more could you ask for?

    Turkey Club Sandwich

I appreciate a sandwich with good bread and Urbane Cafe has exactly that. They make their focaccia bread in store, daily. Their ingredients are fresh and they're pretty consistent. My go-to order is a turkey club and whichever Fresca or lemonade is available when I'm there (they're all so good, sometimes it's hard to choose). This location is conveniently located near csun. I think it's a great alternative to the fast food options nearby.

Pesto & Sundried Tomato Sandwich with salad.

Great lunch experience and excellent customer service at Urbane Cafe, Reseda Blvd location. The staff here is very welcoming and provided excellent customer service. The eatery is clean. A young lady is constantly cleaning and picking up plates and trays. She also offered to take ours. She was so sweet. She was also the person that brought our food to our table. This eatery has plenty of tables and chairs for dining inside as well as outside. The place is spacious and a good size. The outside patio seating is a good size and the area is very clean. We ordered the Pesto & Sundried Tomato sandwich with salad and Pastrami Tri Tip sandwich with salad. The Pesto & Sundried Tomato sandwich has roasted chicken, basil pesto, sundried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, arugula and vegenaise. It's very fulfilling and the chicken portions are just right. Love that it's chicken breast and not over cooked. The Pastrami Tri Tip sandwich has pastrami tri tip style with swiss cheese, remoulade aioli, housemade apple coleslaw, bread and butter pickles, served with a side of Golden Mustard. Pastrami is on point and flavorful. Found our go to for quick nutritious and delicious sandwiches that have farm fresh ingredients.

Southwest Santa Maria BBQ Chicken Salad

Great first visit! Brock was cashier who answered all our questions and was patient and had great customer service skills. I had the Southwest BBQ salad and it was amazing. The presentation was great and tasted the same. Gil brought out our order and was kind and professional. He said he prepared our meals and took great care in doing so. My friend mentioned the warm cookies they had so that was a no brainer. One chocolate chip, please. It was a real treat, not too sweet. This locations decor was warm with wood tables and chairs. The walls are glass and the natural lighting gave a rustic charm to the place. I will definitely be back for the seasonal menu.

This location is the best in terms of ambiance and service. The staff are super friendly and cool, especially Terenz. He had a great vibe and made sure to repeat our order in case we missed anything. Food is also top tier, always fresh, warm, and appetizing. If you are looking for a great sandwich spot, this is the place. I recommend getting the socal sandwich with the side salad.

Fresh Focaccia Bread, continuously being made on site
    Peter M.

Urbane Cafe, predominantly a sandwich shop, has developed a unique approach to serving this most cherished item. While most establishments use the standard bread, yes maybe with different types, Urbane goes another route. Their main show is sandwiches made of freshly baked discs of focaccia bread (and you can see them being prepared). This time, I had the hunger for the "Club". Essentially, as advertised, it contains Roasted turkey, Applewood-smoked bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese, sliced tomato, green leaf lettuce, herb aioli. Served with Urbane Side Salad. While the accompanying salad was fresh, the sandwich was below par. I am going to be candid, so please do not misunderstand. Anytime there is bacon touted in a menu item, the eatery should deliver. In this case, it fell way short. A few limp pieces that hardly were noticeable or tasted. And therefore, disappointed the taste buds, the brain and the stomach. In addition, I felt the sandwich lacked a fresh taste and vibrancy. Or maybe here, I made the wrong sandwich choice.

    The Cafe Salad

I don't know why I don't come here more often. This is only my 3rd time here. I have loved everything I've tried. Today I got the Cafe salad. Brock at the register was super nice and patient with all our questions. During dinner he even took our order for more focaccia bread and brought it to our table. Gil who made our salad and brought it to the table was the best. Took pride in his work and checked on us a couple of times. The restaurant was clean and well kept. When I took my dirty dishes to the trash, I didn't see any other dishes piled up. They were very attentive in keeping everything orderly. Now that I know about their rewards program, I'll definitely come back more often.

    Alexis M.

I come here pretty often! Love their portobello sandwich, pastrami sandwich as well as the chimichurri one! When I'm not in a sandwich mood, I get their salmon plate which is very filling and healthy. The salads are good too, I always ask for extra mandarins. Can't forget the chocolate chip cookie - it always hits the spot.

Do you do catering ? If so do you have a menu?

HI Larissa! Yes we do. You can check out the menu here.. https://orders.urbanecafe.com/

Do you have gluten free bread for the sandwiches?

Hi Supriya - Thank you for being our guest. Unfortunately we do not have gluten free bread but we can lettuce wrap anything for you! I will be sure to tell the chef we have guests that would like gluten free bread! Thank you!

My husband wants to try the southwest chicken sandwich, however he can't digest the corn and black beans due to stomach problems. Can he sub those 2 ingredients 4 bacon at no extra charge?

Hi M.H - I am sorry to hear about you husband's stomach problems. We would be more than happy to sub in bacon but it will still be at the additional charge. Our Applewood smoked bacon has a higher food cost to us than the corn and black bean salsa…

    Is there vegan options?

There are 4 vegetarian sandwich options. I would imagine their bowls / salads can be made to be vegan.

What are some hidden menu items?

My favorite is the Cilantro Chicken Sandwich and Tom's Special :) Others are some past menu items... Italian Chicken, Turkey Melt and Rosemary Chicken Sandwich. Have fun! :)

We got chicken wings, scallion pancake, pork and shrimp dumplings, and pork soup dumplings. The chicken wings had a mountain of fried garlic on top of them. We didn't prefer it, but garlic lovers would love this appetizer. The scallion pancake was solid--thin and crispy with scallions throughout. The pork and shrimp dumplings were our favorite, filled with ground pork, and whole pieces of shrimp, served with an awesome sauce that brought everything together. The soup dumplings were not that great. They looked like they were steamed a bit too long, and the soup had leaked through. Would not get these again.

My only negative comment is that this place isn't designed to host large groups or families like I'm used to from more traditional spots. I'd say 6 or less in a group is ideal here. They can technically accommodate larger parties, but the group feels disjointed. It's very easy to go family style here. When you order an entree, it's normally in a large portion and probably not what you want to eat for the entire meal. I'd recommend coming in a group of 4 and ordering 4 different entrees. Ask for smaller plates so that you can try other dishes to balance out the flavor profiles. If you have no idea what to go for, here are some recommendations: Chongqing Crispy Chicken - it's a lightly fried and dry spicy chicken Orange Chicken (what you'd expect) Spare ribs with garlic - if you don't mind getting your hands dirty and eating around a bone Handmade dumplings - whichever sounds good Those are some common and safe choices. They have other good options, so feel free to explore!

We stopped by on a Tuesday for lunch, and nostalgia definitely did not disappoint. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal. The Jjolmyeon has always been our all-time favorite from the LA location, so ordering it was a no-brainer. And wow... it somehow tasted even better here! We also ordered the Yuk Kalguksu (육칼국수) and Gun Mandu (군만두), and everything hit the spot. The Yuk Kalguksu came with such a generous portion that I happily finished the noodles, enjoyed some of the rich, spicy broth, and still had enough soup and beef to box up for another meal. Talk about a bonus dinner! The mandu was perfectly crispy and paired so well with the refreshing, chewy jjolmyeon. For us, a restaurant earns a spot in our regular rotation only if it checks three boxes: delicious food, friendly service, and cleanliness. Hodori easily checks all three. In fact, I came back after work the very same day to pick up dinner for the family (because one visit clearly wasn't enough ). We ordered Galbi Ugeoji Haejangguk (갈비 우거지 해장국), Galbitang (갈비탕), Tteokbokki (떡볶이), Samgyetang (삼계탕), and Yukgaejang (육개장). I placed the order before leaving work, and by the time I arrived about 15 minutes later, everything was neatly packed and ready to go. As a working mom, finding a restaurant that serves delicious food, offers great service, and makes takeout this effortless feels like striking gold. It saves me time in the kitchen while keeping everyone's tummies full and happy. Safe to say, Hodori has officially earned a permanent spot on our takeout list.

They were quietly waiting while we looked at the menu and were just moving the utensils around on the table like normal little kids. I politely asked if we could order regular meals to dine in and kids' meals to go. The younger employee simply said no, which was fine--I was only asking. Then an older Korean lady came over, got right in my face, and loudly said, "NO TAKE OUT!" The tone was rude, embarrassing, and completely unnecessary. Instead of treating us with basic courtesy, she made us feel like we weren't wanted there. As we were leaving, she pointed at my kids and shooed them away from the table because they had moved the utensils around. I was honestly speechless. I would never let my children trash a restaurant, and I would have cleaned up anything before leaving. To make it worse, this isn't the first time. On a previous visit, I watched this same older lady and an older man give my friends dirty looks and a nasty attitude over the tip, even though they had already left 18%. Charging around $35 for a single meal with rice comes with the expectation of decent hospitality. Instead, we were treated with disrespect from the moment we asked a simple question. There are too many amazing Korean restaurants in Los Angeles to spend this kind of money and be treated this poorly. Save your money and go somewhere that values its customers.

They were large and very filling. Each bun was packed woth kimchi, pork and vegetables. We ended with sweet red bean steamed buns. These were also large and filling. A great way to finish our meal. A great place for dumplings and not worrying about leaving hungry. Great service too!

If you want to experience eating while sweating your balls, this is a great exercise. The side dish is really mediocre, some kimchee, and shredded cabbage with thousand Island dressing, really nothing special here. The king dumplings has no flavor, it is soft but when you bite it, there is really no excitement to it. The filling is generous but also bland. The fried chicken is just uber dry, some parts of the skin is pretty good, but the seasoning is weak. The beef rib soup is the worse, there was literally no Korean flavor at all, it's just bland in spices and flavor. Maybe this is just an ok place to hang, but the food is nothing to write home about.

My sandwich was very well portioned and absolutely delicious, some of the best pastrami I've ever had! Fries were good, Cole slaw was good, and the whole experience was great. Great, attentive service too. They were busy for a very good reason. Come here hungry! The portions are very generous.

So it seemed fitting to honor both of them and it satisfied my craving. The catered memorial looked great but it was difficult to make a proper plate. I always crave matzo ball soup. Luckily I had my fan to help cool off my soup. I did add a little salt and pepper. Other than that it was total comfort. $15 We shared a club sandwich and got French fries instead. All the condiments, Russian dressing, ranch come in prepackaged little containers. Ranch tasted fresh and homemade. I used a little of the Russian dressing. Is that a Brent's thing? $22 + $3 for French fries. I wanted a little sweet and got the blueberry cheesecake. That was the best cheesecake ever. Actual blueberries inside the cheesecake. So creamy and delicious. $11 Pickles are always my favorite. I got bagel chips with my matzo ball soup. I ordered corned beef and cabbage for my 99 year old mom. She said she didn't like the cabbage, no taste. She's 99 ‍ It's been a while since I was there. It feels the same. Booths and tables. Same decor. Our server Laura was super sweet and patient. Helpful in our decision making. Ricardo cracked me up because he brought a small soup container for my friend's cabbage soup. She was a little perturbed it was too small. Ricardo insisted it would fit and it did PERFECTLY.
