We've been to Antigua 3 times now and can safely say it's a favorite! We were watching a food special on TV about the cuisine of Guatemala and decided to seek out a restaurant in the Seattle area. Luckily we found the only one is fairly close to us! The restaurant is nice and clean and we're always greeted quickly with a welcoming smile. We started the meal with a pupusa each and a horchata. The pupusas we ordered were a combo of pork, cheeses and beans. Definitely delicious! The horchata was sweet, light with a taste of cinnamon. Both of our entrees were pretty good sized, and had us second guessing our need for the appetizer pupusas! We thank Antigua for another delicious meal, and at a very reasonable price!

The place serves really great Latin American cuisine. The dishes are unique and feels authentic. The staff is friendly as well. The restaurant was a bit hot so we sat in front of fan but their drinks were savior. Overall the food was great for the price we paid. Even vegetarians in our group really liked the food and it was filling. The tortilla was really fresh and in house made Must try: any of their papusa

Fantastic Guatemalan food. Pretty authentic stuff. Check out this small business if you land up in Kent and are in the mood for a quick bite

Can't believe I've lived 10 years away from my mom's cooking & have not eaten here until now. I am Guatemalan, Chapina through & through, & this is the place I'm going to from now on when I'm missing a home cooked meal. My mom is an exceptional cook & nothing beats her cooking but this place at least gets me close. It's super affordable & easy to get a table. If you've never had Guatemalan food, I suggest the tamales & enchilada bc they're different than what you've probably had before.

Churrasco Chapin - a great plate to share when you want to try a little bit of everything. The sausage in the middle was soooo good!

You have GOT to try this place! You're guaranteed to get fresh prepared, authentic regional food that will leave you wanting more. I didn't capture the pupusas because we INHALED them! They were the best I've ever had. The server (shout out to Eddie!) gave us a sample of all of their homemade drinks and the tamarind was my favorite. Everything we tried was clearly freshly made, well balanced and delicious. Definitely a place where the food is made with love. It was a long drive for me from the east side but totally worth it and I highly recommend going out of your way to try this spot! Support a local business and be rewarded with some dang good food!!

Chucito, paches, and TAMALITOS DE CHIPILIN

Muy bien! This Guatemalan restaurant is so on-point. We've ordered here twice, and it's never failed us. Because I love all things that are tamale-like, we ordered the chuchito, pache, and tamalito de chipilin. Also the caldo de patas to share. The chuchito and the tamalito had a similar savory masa base. The masa was so flavorful, as if it was mixed with chicken stock, not water. I liked the loroco in the tamalito-- it was like a tastier spinach. As for the pache, I loved the fragrance that the banana leaf imparts, and the fact that it was like a delicious mashed potato base. So different and interesting. The caldo de patas was simple and delicious. I love the marrow and fat in the patas (feet). Perfect for a lovely night in. In short, go here for some delicious, homestyle, comforting Guatemalan food.

We tried a lot of different things: enchilada, pork puposa, veggie puposa, ceviche, horchata, kids quesadilla, tamal pollo and one other dish. Our favorite was the Veggie Puposa and the chicken Tamal. But, everything was really good. Server was very nice. It was very warm in the restaurant but we were fine.

Elote loco / crazy corn is even better than it looks.

When my favorite Greenwood Guatemalan restaurant closed I thought I'd never again enjoy a pupusa. So glad I was wrong. During a trip to Kent to drop off a ton of Styrofoam (yes, save the environment and recycle this toxic stuff) for recycling, we searched for a good local restaurant to support. Enter Antigua. Set in a nondescript strip mall filled with fast food and quirky businesses is Antigua Guatemala. Upon entering they offer disposable masks and hand sanitizer and the restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. The menu isn't overwhelming though it's oddly set-up. Prices are hard too see but when you find them they are reasonable. They have loads of familiar items and a few different ones, like the Elote Loco or "crazy corn". OMG, it is uh-mazing. It's an ear of corn on the cob, with a bunch of condiments that is pretty, flavorful and hard to share. Next time we get two. My boo had chicken tacos (order of 3) and I had two black bean/cheese pupusas. Both were perfectly crisped but not greasy, and decent proportions. Two entrees and the corn were $26 with tax, which is totally reasonable for food of this caliber. I can't wait to find another reason to come to Kent.

    Coffee! It was perfect.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but when you walk in, you're greeted with warmth and a cozy setting. Food is delicious, well priced and they have options for vegetarians! We ordered the veggie enchilada guatamalteca, elote, black bean pupusas, dobladas de pollo. The food was super flavorful! Perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. I loved the enchilada guatamalteca, it had a refreshing beet and cabbage slaw on it. I've never had anything like it and I loved it. My favorite were the pupusas! They were so soft, cheesy and came with a delicious slaw. I'm typically not a fan of slaw but this one was amazing. The service was excellent and we were started with complementary chips and tasty black bean dip. Will definitely return and bring more friends!

Such Amazing Food. Good Quality food. Such a clean environment. They have such a friendly staff. This place has become our new family tradition. It's a hidden gem that I'm so happy I found and was able to show it to my family. You will not be disappointed!

    SHUCO - hot dog
    Roxanne G.

I'm so glad I found this gem! A little Guatemala inside this restaurant. My husband is Guatemalan so of course when we saw this place, it was a must try! We got the Shucos which is a Guatemalan style hotdog, one word DELICIOUS! One critique would be that the sausage needed a little bit more salt, it was a bit bland, but luckily the sauces sorta help. We will coming back. Also their Rellenitos de frijol, yum! Ps. They are following COVID regulations. We've ordered take out only, but I believe you can dine-in.

    Pork and cheese pupusa

Nice little Guatemalan place in Kent! JK tried their pork and cheese pupusa (came sizzling hot and was a nice size, but could have used a bit more seasoning), enchilada guatemalteca (wasn't sure about this mix of ingredients, but it was surprisingly good!), dobladas de res (also good), and elotes locos (corn - wish it had been a lot hotter, temperature wise, and next time would request no ketchup or mustard). The horchata was a bit too sweet and had a slightly odd flavor, but can't pinpoint what it is. Service was friendly and reasonably quick. If you live in Kent or are visiting and looking for good and interesting eats, this could be the place for you!

Many special dinners and celebrations were had within the walls there. When updates to the menu were made, it seems like much more than that changed and it hasn't been the same since. A few months ago we went and everything was 'off' nothing like it used to be. Service and food were both subpar. Knowing how many wonderful meals we've had there we gave them the benefit of the doubt, everyone/everywhere has bad nights. Unfortunately, we went back tonight and were shocked to find the restaurant nearly empty. We got a table in the bar so my husband could keep an eye on the basketball game. and while service was better it wasn't great, food was dropped off by someone who said not a word, literally dropped plates and walked away, and food was good but not the standout it once was, drink was also pretty awful. So sad to see such a shining star of a place in Tacoma fall so far. Seeing almost empty on a Saturday night confirmed it's not just us that has noticed such sad changes to the place.

The more detailed vers: I found this place on Yelp, but had never visited before. I was SO excited by the glowing recommendations, so my bf and I decided to choose it to make my 40th bday dinner special. - First clue something was off was the place was dead. We were the SOLE patrons there on a Sunday night! - My mandarin basil mocktail was quite literally a glass of grapefruit juice with a single basil leaf on top. - We ordered crispy brussel sprouts as an appetizer; not only were they not crispy but they were near raw? Tough, undercooked brussel sprouts lol what - My main was paella, it was...fine...not terrible but they were super stingy with the seafood, there were only 2 meager chunks of chicken, 3 tiny scallops and like 3 shrimp in the entire dish. Keep in mind these plates were fine dining prices; the ingredients here likely cost dollars, at best - Bf's steak was overcooked It was bad enough where I politely said something to the waitress which I NEVER do and she apologized and said their lead chef called in sick so all they had was a chef in training. Anyway that was all fine, we laughed it off at the time aa bad luck. But yesterday my bf's stomach was upset the whole day, and that my friends was the final straw to push me to write this review. To the restaurant owners: it's one thing to have a mediocre dinner, who cares; but we paid high prices to be served crummy food, have a special night be disappointing and then to get sick afterward? That's not alright. I will say, the service was great and the staff very polite so it pains me to write this but it felt necessary.

The bread was perfectly baked, delicately salted, and the balsamic was so good you'd be tempted to drink it. My husband ordered a Dark and Stormy, but the first one tasted like it was made with vodka instead of rum. Our server was kind and professional about it, and the replacement cocktail was much better. I had the Basil Martini, which was fantastic, herbaceous, refreshing, and easy to sip. For dinner, I ordered the Duck Confit, my favorite dish on the menu. It was beautifully presented, tender, and full of flavor. My husband had the Pan-Seared Scallops with polenta cakes and lobster-truffle beurre blanc, and he said they were delicious. The atmosphere added to the experience. I liked the artwork, and the music hit all the right notes. We were greeted and seated right away, and the service stayed attentive throughout the evening. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality and presentation make it worth it. This is my favorite restaurant in Federal Way and always feels special every time we visit.
